Obama is dumbing down Americans. Singing while our troops are being killed. Troops who trained their murderers.
Celebrities parties in the White House. Algae is his new way to bring gas prices down. A world in crisis and Obama is the leader of this nation. Seems rather unconscionable but I fear that Americans have no idea what Obama is doing. Said today that there has been a low turn out in the primaries. Why, don’t like the candidates or lazy or just don’t care. God forbid that this man because president because of the uninformed or just don’t care voter.
They will care and those of us who knew better will pay. Then they will pay attention or be on welfare row.

Had this president started drilling on Jan. 09 we would be closer to a better economy. Had he just given the private sector a thumbs up, had he closed the borders and been a courageous leader we would not see the Middle East in such mayhem.
But he didn’t and now we are paying a price, troops are murdered, Gas prices are higher than ever, private sector is losing more than it is taking in and the borders, well, again Brian Terry can tell us, Fast and Furious can.
So, here we are, Algae.
Patty commented:
I don’t know what this means exactly. But I saw and energy commercial. One man wanted to drill and say that is the way to go. He was White, The other guy said well, has to be safe, has to be safe, he was black. Wonder who thought this one up. You guess.
Then I heard that Obama must have things Safe, that the xl pipeline is not safe. Yet, there are 100′s of pipelines running all through America, right now.

No, Algae is NOT a “green” source of fuel… the push for “biomass” technology instead of fossil fuels is completely in the green-leftist-communist playbool… see more at etcgroup.org, examples below… If you read up on this push for biomass, mass re-engineeering to change the ecology of the planet – by using HUGE tracks of land (eg horrible Ethanol from corn anyone?), you SHOULD be very scared of how these people want to rule the planet for their own ‘green’ (communist!) purposes…. be VERY afraid of “biofuel”… be very afraid….! So true, Newt, pond scum to power a major industrial civilization is a weird comedy, and so is Willard Romney.
‘What powerful optics for Mitt Romney today, giving his speech to the only 1,200 people with a positive net worth in the Detroit metropolitan area, in a football stadium that spectators will fill to the brim when watching the Lions go 0-16 but won’t come near when Mitt Romney books it to unveil his latest mega-pander.
But let’s not just focus on the hilarious empty stadium. Did he go out of his way to grow the awkwardness at an exponential pace, The Hill?
“I not only think I have the best chance, I think I have the only chance — maybe I’m overstating it a bit,” he said, chuckling awkwardly.
“That’s my family leading the applause,” he said quickly, although no one was clapping, then laughed again. No one appeared to laugh with him.
Jesus Christ. What could be worse? Maybe a paragraph combining… the most oft-mocked lines of his over the last couple of weeks but which still somehow remain in his stump speech with… an unnecessary anecdote about his half-dozen or so cars that only highlights his outrageous wealth with… an overall aura of very forced pandering that suggests everything he’s saying is a lie? Buzzfeed?
I actually love this state. This feels good being back in Michigan. You know, the trees are the right height, the streets are just right. I like the fact that most of the cars i see are Detroit-made automobiles. I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pickup truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs. I used to have a dodge truck, so I used to have all three covered.
This is too much fun, sorry! We’re doing one more! Richard Adams at The Guardian, type!
Mitt Romney just claimed he could smell lunch “wafting into this room” – room being a very odd way to describe a massive 80,000-seat football stadium.
The real winner of the day/year, though, was CSPAN’s camera crew, who cut away from Romney for this slow pan of the emptiness surrounding him.’

No, nothing has changed. It still requires >$10 a gallon gasoline to even start looking like it would ever break even, and would require VAST areas of land and VAST quantities of water to be used exclusively for production, something that will never happen with the econazis. The problem with this scheme is the same problem with solar, both convert sunlight into usable energy, and at the end of the day the sun gives us about 430 Btu per hour per square foot. Gasoline yields about 120,000 Btu per gallon. There is possibility here, but it is not even close to ready for prime time, and is most assuredly not something to bet the farm on today. Obama and his ilk fail the basic knowledge test of recognizing the correct answer when presented with it.

John Edwards would be proud; we’re realizing his vision of Two Americas.
One America pays the bills, a productive class, as it struggles and slips beneath the water, unable to keep its head up with the weight of taxation, regulation and currency devaluation imposed by the power elites.
The Other America is a parasitic class, comprising of proportional tax-exempts of the “bottom” 50% and the top 1%. Here we find the commonality between Warren Buffet and a lower class laborer working for cash, taking $39K a year in government benefits while also earning $30K completely tax free, “off the grid.” Warren sues the government in order to refuse to “pay his fair share” while paying public relations and lobbyist hacks to trick the producing class that he’s one of them. A chameleon, he dines at Gorat’s Steakhouse in Omaha, drives a modest car and dresses like the producer class, but employes lobbyists and attorneys to ensure he offshores money and keeps it free from taxation. He and his parasitic elites like Soros employ hordes of enablers, trash raised up through affirmative action and other guilt-enabling programs to take the bottom half freeloaders and ensure they’re perpetually indebted to the elites.
Two Americas.

I think the study of algae is worthwhile at the basic research level. It is far from being understood well enough to be considered as a possible sorce of fuel in the near future, and it may always be a niche product. We should be careful not to demonize basic research and instead turn our scorn on the president who thinks it is shovel ready. What we need to remember is that basic research opens doors, but it can takes decades before we see where the doors lead. Obama likes to pretend he is not a scientific neanderthal by cuddling up to scientists, but he obviously doesn’t know the first thing about science. The likelihood of harvesting pond scum with all the contamination problems this presents is naive at best. It is a bit like harvesting E coli from toilets to produce medications.

Unemployment in North Dakota is at an all time low because of drilling activity there. There is more oil in the Balken formation than in all of Saudi Arabia. We can achieve energy idependence and lower unemployment now if we just let the oil companies loose!

I just have to ask: does anybody in this administration understand what our deposits of COAL, Oil and natural GAS really are?
They are BIOMASS that has been predigested by bacteria over a long period of time. Not only that, but our continent is shaped around what used to be a vast inland sea, where biomass was accumulated over eons, so that there is a sea of predigested biomass underlying all that flyover country.
I don’t mind exploring the notion of using algae as a source of fuel, particularly if you are concerned about what you think is a problem involving excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. However, if you want biomass, we have a more efficient source for that, and we can avoid the manufacturing and energy cost of digesting it simply by drilling or mining, instead. We know how to do both in a clean fashion. If you want to sequester carbon, the way to do it efficiently is to grow plants: a single tree will sequester a LOT of carbon. Further, segregating our garbage so that our landfills contain mostly biomaterials and plastics would also sequester carbon and provide a ready source of biomass in the event we ever solve the problem of making algae useful as an energy source.
*sigh* Doesn’t anybody in this pathetically unintelligent administration even know a chemist?

You ready for the mosquitos that go with 50,000 sq miles of algae swamps that woud be required to fuel only 5% of energy needs in one state?

Chevron bought an interest in Solazyme. Exxon is into another algae R&D company. Not ready for prime time, but I suspect there is serious long-term potential. Algae can theoretically be modified at the gene level to mostly cut out the refining process, and also to increase ‘yields’. Seems to be commercial already at making specific high-end oils, like for cosmetics, but still almost an order of magnitude away from commercial fuel. Laugh at Obama, but not TOO hard over the algae.
