Seven #Occupy Iowa protesters were arrested outside Mitt Romney’s campaign office in Des Moines in December. The leftist group derided Mr. Romney for not releasing his tax returns, as well as for taking campaign contributions from banks. (The Caucus)

Rick Santorum called Governor Mitt Romney a liberal, #Occupy Wall Street candidate.
Really? It’s come to this?
BuzzFeed reported:

“It’s absolutely laughable to have a liberal governor of Massachusetts say that I am not a conservative,” Santorum said, attacking Romney’s tax plan. “We have a candidate for president who is campaigning as an Occupy Wall Street adherent.”

“He doesn’t understand how America works any more than Barack Obama understands how America works,” Santorum said, about Romney’s plan to cap wealthy individuals’ ability to deduct charitable contributions.

I don’t want to say this but could Santorum and Romney read the paper and see what Obama is saying and apologizing for and possibly look at the national debt and Obama debt.

Talk about jobs and more of the policies they plan to put in place. Drilling, bringing more Companies back and into America.

TALK ABOUT OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA AND HIS MANY FAILURES.

Stop criticizing the party and those who are suppose to be a part of our party.

  3. Well if the NY (Effed US) banks are jumping out of Obama’s bed and into Mitt’s he really is the “Occupy Wall Street candidate” Socialist in the streets and Socialist in the towers. The Occupy crap is like the scene from Blazing Saddles when the Sheriff took himself hostage.

  4. After all Romney Care is Obama care. That is my main reason for never voting for Romney. If he is the Candidate I will have too. I will hate though.

  5. I am so disgusted, I can’t see straight. Where is our Reagan.

  6. Santorum is just swinging wildly bless his heart. He’s definitely had his moment.

  7. Desperate campaigns require desperate measures.

And may the candidate left standing be…

    NEWT!!

  8. If you can’t see the differences between Masscare and Obamacare, you don’t deserve to have your freedom. Or you could just read up on them. Here are just some little clues. States have certain rights that the feds do not. There is a difference between giving the people what they want, and forcing what you want on them. Some people go into debt to get things done (Obama), some do not and run a debt free program (Romney including his campaign. Santorum has debt. Gingrich has debt.). Now go do your own research please.

  9. Newts going to have to borrow from his line of credit at Tiffany’s to keep his campaign going.

    NEWT 2012!

  13. This is what some people who have backed Santorum was afraid of.
Little Ricky boy is losing it. The nomination means more to him than being an adult.

  14. anybody that wants to put more money in the hands of the politicans wants to keep this country in a downward spiral. the politicans wrecked our economy not private citizens.

  15. Mitt Romney is a fraud, a shape-shifter, and a chameleon.

  16. Why is Romney unwilling to discuss his Mormon faith? What is he trying to hide until the general election should he get the nomination?

  17. The biggest thing about Santorum and Gingrich is they cannot handle being challenged by anyone. Romney hasn’t really laid into him the way MSNBC/Obama will. They are being cry babies right now, big time. The attacks against Romney were one thing, but when Romney hit back, now they cry he only hits back “because he has money.” Man up, already! My gosh. We already have a whiner-in-chief.

  23. Romney lied about talking with Catholic Bishops about forcing Catholic Hospitals to give abortifacia drugs. Boston Globe, Catholic Insider say Romney decided this on his own. Bishops weren’t involved. In other words, Romney is like Obama wanted to restrict religious freedom. Absolutely no difference. Bishops will be outing Romney soon in the pulpit just like they did Obama. Romney is just another dishonest politician. Again just like Obama.

We dont have to worry about the Commie-Crats attacking the GOP, the GOP does that all on its own.

  28. “I see myself as a moderate republican with progressive views”. Romney.

“I want to cut taxes 20% across the board, but.. I don’t want to add to the deficit (he doesnt know that tax cuts usually INCREASE revenue), so.. I’d limit exemptions and deductions for the top 1%… so they’d pay as much as they do now, or more!” Romney. oh, yay, a tax cut.. ahem.

“It’s important that the progressiveness of our tax code be preserved”. Romney. yay.

Santorum is dead right. Romney is NOT conservative. No more than either Bush was, or Jeb Bush is now. Romney is a big government guy with slightly less desire to dictate every decision and outcome in every individual life. But he is NOT a constitutionalist, not a principled conservative. Romney is a technocrat.

    I’m screaming WTF!
Go, Newt. The only man bright enough to do the job. Period.

  38. We will be no better off with Romney than we are now with the nitwit in chief.
One of his aides said, when asked about his belief in pro abortion while running for governor, he fooled them! So now we know that he will lie about his beliefs, but when was he lying, then or now. Once a liar always a liar. We are screwed, as Cheney said, big time. To say he wants the top 1% to pay the same or more is Demoncrap talk, and serves no purpose what so ever. He’s a phony.

  39. To be a whiner, first the accusations must be true. Mitt has a great problem with the truth whether about himself or others. How does an elder in the Morman church say EVER that he supports choice. He is credited with 15 % charitable contributions, when in reality, he gave it to his church. Santorum gets grief for believing in his faith, while Romney claims it, but doesn’t live it when inconvenient, with no outcry from his church. Mighty suspicious!

  41. The idiot Santorum is doing a great job of making people see what an ass he is and many voters will pick Romney instead. Keep it up Santorum you are the gift that keeps on giving.

  42. “the politicans wrecked our economy not private citizens.”
    =====
Wrong. Private citizens voted to put those politicians in positions of power. Private citizens — the electorate — are to blame for our current situation. People need to stop passing the buck and start taking personal responsibility. 53% of the electorate — private citizens — voted in 2008 to put Obama and his Marxist buddies in the Executive Branch and give him super-majorities in both Houses of Congress.

People need to stop complaining about what politicians are doing and start taking personal responsibility for the part the electorate has played in putting those politicians in positions of power.

  43. Yeah, I think what Rick was pointing out (not that this sight wants to give context) is Romney’s aligning with the “99%” notions of hammering the top 1% (who already pay a very disproportionate amount of the taxes. Mitt’s plan seeks to single them out in order to offer them up as fodder to appease the malcontents.
Why? Because he accepts the “99%” premise that the rich are evil, that they must have cheated to get where they are (guilty conscience Mitt?), and they deserve to fund more and more and more.
The big laugh is Mitt isn’t conservative and I don’t blame Rick for striking back. It’s about time someone did.
Mitt has a very, very liberal-progressive record prior to his aspirations for the white house; he even bragged about how he is going to be a progressive governor.
About time someone calls him on it.
Very tired of the quiet Mitt/Ron partership going on also (and yeah, I pointed it out on this sight a couple of weeks ago-long before the media did). Just how are you Ron people coping with your guy running ads in a state he’s not even seriously pursued (and hadn’t campaigned in until the media pointed out the seemingly nefarious relationship between the two campaigns and his ad buys there)?

  44. And, once again, many new names appearing on this comment section that might make one think ……
Naw, I am sure we couldn’t see campaign stooges in here making comments under several names.

  45. Hey, how about a post on anne romney speech last night. i demand equal time to berate and ridicule a candidate’s spouse. It could be fun after what was written about Mrs. Santorum yesterday.

  46. The only idiots are the ones who would vote for Obama or Romney (they are BOTH Democrats).

  47. who cares about anne romney? she’s married to democrat romney (who will never get my vote).

  48. Proof that Rick is off his rocker.

  49. And more evidence that we need a brokered convention that produces a nominee not in the current field.

  50. If you carefully notice, about a week ago Romney pivoted to policy and attacks on Obama. It seems he has the formula pretty well worked out. First he vets the latest opponent (as does Ron Paul) with well crafted attack ads. They are effective and this gets under the skin of the opponent. As the opponent gets unnerved, they lose focus and discipline (see Santorum’s horrible debate performance). And they can’t stop themselves from obsessing about Romney in all their discussions (see Santorum on MTP this morning, his stump speeches, Newt on MTP during Iowa, etc.). All while Romney has moved on and looks presidential and focused on higher matters.

  51. Rick’s attacks against others in his own party are doing nothing but hurting him and making him look foolish.

  52. Yeah, quite a politician indeed old Mitt is.
He pivots to anti-barry attacks after he (and the unofficial surrogate Paul) “vets” the new threat. All the while his practices keep people from realizing his record of just a few years ago: PRO-ABORTION, PRO-GUN CONTROL, PRO-PROGRESSIVE POLICIES

What kills me is he actually has managed to keep people off of his sound bites and his official positions just a few years ago AND behave as if his opponents are the frauds.

Lest anyone forget, the reason many supported Mitt in ’08 is due to the contempt many had for McCain, not a love for Mitt; they just wanted to derail the nemesis to conservatives at the time.

The author of the model for obamacare is now the model conservative. What a joke.

The real joke is on those buying this absurd proposition.

  53. Steven:
If attacking those in your own party is the standard, then Paul clearly ranks #1 closely followed by Mitt at #2.
Paul has always attacked Republicans, and Mitt has been doing so relentlessly since this primary began. Your argument is ridiculous.

  54. Heres hoping the other three stick it out and cause Romney not to get enough points to win the nomination. Romney wants to be POTUS so badly he will say anything you want to hear!
Looking at the meaning of Camillian in the dictionary they have Romney’s picture under it for a
    clear an unmitigated interpitation!

  55. #s 31 & 33 have a point . . .

I listened to this on video and was disturbed by it. Pandering? People shouldn’t think the Occupy movement is real. It’s Soros-funded.

  56. “All while Romney has moved on and looks presidential and focused on higher matters.”
    ==========
You must not live in Michigan. The only Romney ads played here that I have seen are ones ripping Santorum and ones talking about Romney’s personal story about looking for his employee’s kid. Nice story, but it says as much about his political history as McCain’s POW story said about his political history. In other words, nothing at all. The Democrats have been destroying this country since they took power in JAN 2007 and got the White House in JAN 2009, and the answer to that is a story about Romney finding some employee’s kid. Yeah, not impressed.

That’s debating 101. You take either side of an argument and debate it. Then switch and debate again. Nothing new there. And if we’re going to start giving credence to what wives say about their husbands, how about some credence for Newt’s ex saying he asked for an open marriage (after he was obviously caught already helping himself to one) and now he shamelessly drags his mistress up on stage with him everywhere he goes.
And he supposedly converted to Catholicism? It must be nice to get all your major rule-breaking out of the way and then join up.

BTW after the SC primary, Newt called on Santorum to drop out so he could get a larger vote share on behalf of Conservatives. Santorum said no. Last week Newt was asked if he shouldn’t now get out of the race in light of Santorum’s recent rise. He said he now sees Santorum’s point about not getting out of the race. Smartest guy in the room huh? I love how things occur to Newt, and how frequently he has a re-think.

  61. Former Dem 15

It’s a primary. This is how they go.
Look at Reagan and Bush 41 in the 1980 primary. Vicious barbs.
In the end, Carter went down.

Don’t worry. Nobody has forgotten who the real enemy is.
We’re just sparring with the big gloves right now.

I personally think after Romney gets the nomination (which I see as almost inevitable), he should find a place in his administration for Newt and Santorum, even for Perry and Cain, for that matter. Bachmann is going back to the HR where she can continue to stick it to the establishment.

  62. Got Bill Ayers #19

Just to be clear, are you suggesting that Romney can be hiding something about the Mormon faith? Is Romney the only way that people can research the Mormon faith or find things out about it? If you want to know something about any religion in the world, just google it. The Wiki page is a good place to start.

I would venture a guess that Romney isn’t talking about Mormonism because the left would love to focus this race on anything but the economy and Obama’s abysmal record. They’d love three months of discussions on school lunches or condoms.
How about instead we stick to gas prices, unemployment, corporations fleeing America, housing prices still depressed, etc.?

  63. Mimi #27

I refer you to my comment #64, and it was from the very same debate.

  64. Dave in Dallas #33

    Yeah? So?
Who is making the argument that Romney is a Ronald Reagan? For that matter, who makes that argument about Santorum, the earmark king, who voted to raise the debt ceiling over and over despite getting nothing back in return or even slowing down the increase in spending? Or Santorum who endorsed Specter who shortly thereafter switched parties, putting Obamacare one step closer to getting passed.

There are no perfect conservatives. But Romney can win this election. Red-faced Rick can’t. Even if most of what he says is very Conservative and he’s usually right in his attacks, he doesn’t have the political savvy to fight back. He comes off like a pouting child when he responds to attacks. Anyway, it’s a moot point. His numbers are already on the way down, and third surge is extremely unlikely.

Has it come to this? Good question for you actually.

You’re bashing Romney for owning Cadillacs?
Class envy much? Maybe you should be in the OWS movement.
And Cadillacs aren’t even that expensive, never mind we didn’t hear what model or year these cars are. I bought a used Cadilliac for 2000 dollars when I was a teenager.
Look around any trailer park and you’ll spot a few, along with more expensive Mercedes and BMWs.

As for bashing Romney’s religion, would prefer a Muslim in the White House? Also, Romney tithes 10% to his church. That’s millions of dollars yearly to the church. Have you given that much to your church? Even 1 million in your whole life? Something to think about there, Mr. Sanctimonious.

  68. Lizzy84 and Jainphx

And what about Rick Santorum’s endorsement of liberals like Arlen Specter (who later switched parties to Democrat) over the Tea Party candidate Pat Toomey. (Specter’s election allowed the Stimulus bill to pass, if you’ll recall).

or Newt Gingrich’s endorsement of Deedee Scazzafava in New York over the Tea Party candidate (If you’ll recall, after losing that primary, she went on to endorse the DEMOCRAT in that race, who ultimately won).

    Wrong!
Romney is a moderate who calls himself a Republican.
Obama is a socialist who calls himself a Democrat.

    Neither one is a Democrat.

You’ll have a choice to make in November between Obama, Romney, write-in, or stay home.
The last two throw away a vote. the first one throws away a nation.

At least with Romney, we can stop the bleeding, focus on the Senate races, and get our crap together for the coming election cycles in 2014 and 2016 to ensure we don’t get stuck with more Romneys as the nominee in congressional races around the country. With Obama, we’re too busy trying to put out the 1000 fires he has lit to the country. I’d much rather have Romney in the White House.
So I do see a big diference between the two, and I hope you come around before November.

  71. Rhymes with Right #55

So we can’t get any great conservative candidates from the GOP out here in the open, and you’d rather see them broker it behind closed doors?
Yeah right. I wouldn’t be surprised if a brokered convention put McCain back out there. They certainly won’t tap Sarah Palin if that’s what you’re thinking!

“My friends! I’m back. He-he. And I’m asking you to hold your noses for me just one last time! And build that dang fence!!”

  72. Ausonious

I’m not sure how you get that Ron Paul is Romney’s surrogate. He did this exact same thing in 2008 and stayed in until June, long after Romney got out in February.

Ron Paul is for Ron Paul. And Ron Paul’s supporters support Ron Paul only. They are not Conservatives, and Ron Paul is not siphoning off votes from anybody else because the idiots hwho are voting for him are there for the purpose of voting for Ron Paul. If Ron Paul weren’t there, they wouldn’t be there either. So nobody is losing any votes to Ron Paul. Simple as that.
