The fans told them to, “Get a job!”

(HuffPo)

Fail. Only around 50 Obama-endorsed #Occupy protesters turned out today to protest the Super Bowl in Indianapolis.
They were heckled by spectators who told them, “Get a job!”
Reuters reported:

A small group of about 50 activists marched to Lucas Oil Stadium where the Super Bowl will be played later on Sunday to peacefully protest Indiana’s new anti-union “right-to-work” law.

Indiana on Wednesday became the 23rd state in the nation and the first in the U.S. industrial heartland to adopt a law allowing workers to avoid paying union dues at unionized businesses.

Supporters led by Indiana’s Republican Governor Mitch Daniels have said it was necessary to attract jobs to the state. Critics including Democrats and unions called it “union busting” and have said it would lead to lower wages.

The small group of protesters walked peacefully the five blocks from downtown Indianapolis to the stadium, although the demonstrators were heckled along the route by some of the people they passed.

“I think they need to get jobs,” said Jeff Eichler, who was visiting Indianapolis from Baltimore, Maryland.

  1. I wonder who paid for their parking? It was running over $100 a spot.

  2. Damn, $100 dollars a spot?

They were probably bused in from another area of Indy by the Alinsky Unions.

I for one am glad they did this. People went there to enjoy the Super Bowl, not to have politics shoved in their face. The more they belly ache, the more they’re going to turn off the public.

  3. Occupy a desk!!!

  4. The vast majority of the public already hates these smelly entitlement wh*re losers. Though as with all liberal MSM journo-hacks, it doesn’t comport with their progressive interpretation of reality, and thus, it’s another truth they’ll never report.

  5. We don’t put up with this crap in the corn belt.

  6. Pretty much what I expected. They remind me of those baptist freaks from Kansas, all hype.

  7. as a union member my entire working life i’m glad they passed this law. we had strong unions before the forced dues law was passed. that law weaken the rank and files control over their union. it was pased strictly to benefit the union leader not the union worker.

  8. People such as these never amount to a hill of beans. They’re lazy, ill-educated, and not interested in bettering their lives. They only want to bring those who have accomplished something, down to their pathetic, smelly, level.

  9. Bwahahahahahahahhaha!

50 people, I guess Obama is getting low on cash to continue to hire the protestors through Craig’s list!

I guess he better hit up Jon Corzine for another cut of that $1.2 billion he stole.

  10. There are no minorities marching. This protest must be racist.

    /t-partied

  11. fortunately we can now just cite Bill Maher…get a job, d.bag

    and we’ll be hip /s

  12. [...]Indiana’s new anti-union “right-to-work” law.

Wow, nice “reporting.” The common term for the legislation is given scare quotes and an editorializing adjective is put in front.

[...] a law allowing workers to avoid paying union dues at unionized businesses.

And conceal carry permits allow citizens to avoid paying private tolls in dark alleys.

Supporters led by Indiana’s Republican Governor Mitch Daniels have said it was necessary to attract jobs to the state.

Daniels et al. have pointed to prior changes that they claim to have helped encourage greater employment and productivity. So it’s odd to claim that they said that this particular law was “necessary” to that end. Also, the TV ads promoting the law actually emphasized individual freedom.

  13. OBAMA ENDORSED?!?!? the occupy movement HATES OBAMA. Where the heck do you get your info?

  14. Most of the occupiers – unemployed, living at home with mommy and daddy watching the game on the TV

  15. @Lenny — all of the Dem-Cong, including THE WON, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid have spoken in approving terms regarding the Occupy-Cong. Seems like and endorsement to me.

  16. You don’t understand someone likely paid them to be there. This IS their job

  17. Wait for the TEAnami coming in November.

Occupy is a HUGE failure, America is very pissed off

at Obama. He has caused immense pain to the

Citizenry. Flush this terd and his occupy movement.

    Powder is dry

  18. God, most of you people sound so dispicable. Unfortunately, ignorance is infectous and we do live in Indiana and have very few intellectuals. I was raised in the Union and I strongly oppose Right-To-Work! And all the pretentious people that spent $3800 on The Superbowl, I hope Mitt or Mitch or Newt stand behind you and your artificial dreams of becoming a millionaire because it will never happen. Unless your born into it, win the lottery or your’re an Albert Einstein….keep dreaming! And btw, it was Sunday and those people were working on their day off, so bite it! Go unions and Obama 2012!!!

  19. “… ignorance is infectous and we do live in Indiana and have very few intellectuals. I was raised in the…” ahhh….that explains your post then. sounds like a little envy thrown in there.

  20. should we be assuming that aimee would be one of the few intellectuals?

  21. Militant Conservative….keep living your small minded dream, but please actually follow and listen to the news and facts! And for pete’s sake, learn to spell the word turd right! Go back to school Rebaglicans! Go live in North Korea or Iraq…ok? Most of the “terds” that left comments probably have the same amount of smarts…go to the island of Surreality and don’t forget to send a postcard!

  22. Yes, we should Squeaky. And should we assume that you are Charlie Manson’s sidekick? Hmmmmmm…..?

  23. The Right to Work law takes away the fat-cat union bosses’ main tool of intimidation, and makes union membership much more of a personal choice by the worker. It means more freedom, so of course the lefties are pulling their hair out over it.

  24. http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=48rTWKKfY7s
From the working gal to her fans :-) So, I wonder how many Union workers are cleaning up the Superbowl aftermath?

  25. Sounds about right. Aimee doesn’t bother to explain why she thinks right to work states unfairly compete for jobs, but rather tells us if you disagree with her it’s because you’re stupid. Which is a union trait. Sti down, shut up and let your betters tell you what to do.

  26. Lenny the leftist,
You can try but we know the truth. Mr. George Soros backs all this crap (the man pulling Obama’s strings). He even finances Rod Paul in an effort to destroy the Republican Party. Before that he back John McCain in his effort to lose. At his age he has nothing better to do than support communist causes. It’s not like he could actually do “Dancing with the Stars”.

  27. #21 Aimee wants Indiana to go back to being a “right to not work” state

  28. Aimee seems confused over the distinction, clear to most of us who she considers not to be her mental equals, that the issue isn’t pro or anti union, but the freedom from forced union dues against a worker’s will.

I spent my time in hell as a young man, punching a time clock in an Indiana factory, and being docked for union dues even though I wanted no part of that union. But I had no choice in the matter, and could not voice my displeasure by refusing to support a union run by self-serving imbeciles.

The only things that union did during the time I worked in that factory were to call a nine week strike that ended with a 20 cent per hour increase (do the math on that), to defend the actions of indefensible union members caught red-handed stealing copper from the company, and finally to cause the company to decide the union hassles weren’t worth it and to close down and move production to a more friendly state, putting 150 local workers out of their jobs.

Without Right to Work, the union bosses had absolutely no incentive to clean up their act. Why should they, when through tactics of extortion, backed by state law, they could keep on flying high?

  29. Aimee,
Before you criticize someone’s spelling, you might want to review your own creative ways to spell “you’re”. IU grad?

  30. Most of you are idiots and Amiee is right… “Right to work” gives no rights and no work… You guys need to get off the fox news tip and see what’s going on around you… How is someone making minimum wage going to help our economy? Unions are being busted and the middle class is suffering… All these generations that have fought and fought for your rights at work, so you guys can reap the benefits but sling mud on them… You guys need to dig into your history books and maybe you’ll wake up… Doubtful but its worth a try… There is not one “right to work” sate where people are prospering so what does that tell you… Mitch Daniels is a liar and has disgraced Indiana!!!!

  31. Ben, please try to understand that forced union dues under state law are just a form of legalized extortion, and that removing said extortion does not “bust” a union at all. If a union is doing its job, and workers like the results, then voluntary dues will flow. It’s called freedom of choice, something the union bosses fear more than anything else.

  32. All these generations that have fought and fought for your rights at work, so you guys can reap the benefits but sling mud on them…

This argument got old a long, long time ago. Those battles are over; you won. Congratulations, and thanks! Now, what have you been doing lately? Most of us with actual first-hand experience in unions recognize RedBeard’s story. Unions today are about money laundering, protecting lazy senior workers, and selling out the new guys to keep the old guys in gravy. How many times have we seen the shop drunk skip work while his union buddies punch in and pretend he’s there? How many times have we seen the shop crook stealing inventory while his union buddies falsify their materials list to make it look like the stuff was used on a site? How many times have we seen a young guy busting his ass on the floor while three 50-somethings take a six-hour coffee break, and then turn around and kick the kid’s ass to the curb when the company downsizes?

Unions were a necessary part of the industrial landscape once, and they accomplished great things. But that was more than a century ago. Since then, they’ve degenerated into a corrupt shadow of their former greatness. They’re worse than useless — they’re actually counterproductive, destroying companies and jobs and lives for no purpose.

You want to be relevant and popular in an environment where workers aren’t forced to cough up their wages to you? Then get busy offering something valuable to your members. Heck, just the process of trying to identify value will give you some insight into what your management counterparts do every day. Might even help you at the negotiating table. Who’d have guessed?

  33. My former brother-in-law was a shop steward, got so much grief because he wouldn’t file a grievance on behalf of new guy that was caught sleeping it off in the utility room 3 times. The real world tells me one time, but what do I( know?

  34. Money wasted on the Super Bowl could have gone to buy HD TV for Obama-worshiping imbeciles.

    Four more years!

Re: RTW: It removes the thugs from the equation. The next step is to allow workers to write the dues checks each month, not have it collected by employers and handed over to union thugs.

PS: I’m a long-time union VP and treasurer of my local. We take care of our members and I don’t criticize (close to 50%) freeloaders. Of course, our union has no thugs.

  35. Caterpillar is shutting down their union factories in Canada and shipping their jobs to Indiana, a so called “right to work” state.

They are cutting the average wage from $35/hr for skilled labor to $17/hr skilled labor.

That’s right. AMERICA HAS BECOME CANADA’S MEXICO.

America: stealing jobs from hard working Canadians, and so poor and dumb, they’re willing to work for HALF the wage.

  36. Most of us with actual first-hand experience in unions recognize RedBeard’s story. Unions today are about money laundering, protecting lazy senior workers, and selling out the new guys to keep the old guys in gravy.

That’s funny. My actual first hand experience with unions seems to be directly in conflict with that nonsense you’re spewing.

And even if that libelous crap WERE universally true, the answer ISN’T to eliminate unions so that factory and business owners can pay starvation wages, sending us back into the Great Depression. That’s cutting off your nose to spite your face. Or throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Or whatever other cliche for “that’s a f**king stupid idea.”

  37. Right-to-work laws create a free rider problem, in which non-union employees benefit from collective bargaining without paying union dues. They receive all the benefits and pay for nothing that is called stealing and being a freeloader, which the Republicans support. I would if the Chamber of Commerce would provide free membership?

  38. #43-I’mnot aware of any Chamber of Commerce that has benefit of compulsory membership

  39. And Jeanette there are things called mistypes. And the e key is not that close to the u key. And I’m quite sure that I have a good education and speak well. What’s your excuse? You don’t have to agree with me and I don’t care if you do, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I respect many conservatives, but only the ones who have any damn sense! There are also certain steps to the government that have to be taken for anything to pass. The reason Obama can’t get help….is Senate and Congress. I seem to recall Obama wanting everyone to work together when he came into office and everybody snubbed him off. I don’t agree with everything he’s done, but he is our leader. They want the black man out of The White House. The end.

  40. Aaaaand, there it is, the perennial leftist foolishness about how “they want the black man out of the White House.” No, Aimee, we want the narcissistic Marxist jackass out of the White House before he finishes destroying the country. Try very hard, and you might possibly be able to discern the difference between those two things.

Don’t you quasi-sentient leftists have anything in your word arsenal that might be considered intellectually valid?

  41. No we don’t you uptight, conservative, money lovers have it all under control! Just make sure Mitt Romney learns the actual words to “America the Beautiful”. And Tea Bagger’s are just hick, white trash that support that trash because they actually think the corporations care and that they will be rich like that 1 day….very sad. I am in confident in my beliefs and I can agree to disagree, just stating my opinion. Our forefathers were for helping everyone and letting everyone be able to enjoy what they work hard for, but no one is ever satisfied! And Redbeard, they have done nothing but bash our president since he’s been in office. There are several conseratives agreeing with these facts. Try MSNBC instead of FOX news someday. They have both sides!

  42. And I don’t know Redbeard….Do you conservative greedy right wings have anything in your vocabulary that is of any use? Or is it all asinine and ostentatious as yourself?

  43. Eveeel corporations, hicks, white trash, Tea “Baggers,” Obama hated because he’s black, no one can get rich in America, Founding Fathers were socialists…blah blah blah

Good grief, Aimee; how can you squeeze so much grotesque and painful ignorance of history, economics, and current affairs into short posts like that? You really DO have talent.

  44. We are union, hate it. We pay for our healthcare and all the other benefits through payroll deduction. Contract is up every two years, they call a strike, it takes the next two years of the pay hike if they get it to make up for the days on strike. Averaged 4 mos. per year last 3 years actually working, rest on 30% of regular pay unemployment.

I don’t watch Fox, don’t have cable, I don’t need a fancier degree to know what’s working and what’s not.

Go out into the real world Trollee, then get back to us…lol. Delusional. BTW do you spittle on the screen when you type all those hateful words?

  45. Unfortunately, ignorance is infectous and we do live in Indiana and have very few intellectuals.

Hey Aimee! You know Karl Marx is considered an “intellectual.”

    So much for that argument.

I’m just curious, Punk Patriot: who should decide whether your labor is actually WORTH $35 or $17? You or the guy who who has to write the check?

  47. #54-I’m thinking that Punk Patriot, since it’s so easy, should just buy the company and then he can get right on with making things the way they should be, right?

  48. Absolutely, KornKing! Good thinking.

  49. Ah. The sound of union thugs sniveling all over this board.

    Makes my day, it does.

  50. Sounds like the crowd had a bunch of dummies in it since they were protesting “right to work” that means they are employed union members. FAIL.

  51. The wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from the left is not because they think Right to Work is unfair; it’s because they see Right to Work as hampering their side’s ability to forcibly extract massive piles of money from unwilling workers so the unions can continue to buy sizeable chunks of Congress.

  52. Now I get it!

Obama is black. So he has the birthright organize the takers and useless $cumb@gs, and steal all us filthy, greedy makers have.

    Who’d'a thunk!!!

One request for Obama-worshiping imbeciles: Display them Obama2012 stickers so we know who wants to steal from us.

  53. Meatheads who watch Fox News and rich people who can afford the tickets will act like that. Good thing the intelligent people are aware of the problems and want to do something about it. And very luckily, Obama is going to win the next four years. Now let’s get those crooks out of the house and senate so we can accomplish something.

Plus, if I’m not mistaken (and I’m not), it’s been over 1000 days since the DEM controlled Senate has passed a budget. That pre-dates the Repubs taking of the House in 2010. You’ve proven you can’t lead and you won’t follow so that leaves the third option; just get out of the way.

  56. I’m actually caring trash, mazzy John…please don’t lash me and take my job and money! Unique piece of trash….get it right, John. And your a pedophile from the research I’ve done. Stop touching little boys in their pants! Eeeeewwwwww!

Very perceptive comment. And you are right that if a union leadership is really strongly connected to their members, social pressure is usually more than enough to keep most people in the union. It is only when union leaders lose touch with their members, and many members start beleiving that the union no longer really helps them, that the union needs cooerced dues to keep them.

Its kind of like the difference between gov supported churches in Europe, that nobody goes to, vs voluntarily supported churches in the US, with large devoted memberships. If an organization really supports and helps their members, then no cooercion is necessary, but if they do not then no cooercion will help.

  59. Wow, looks like this got the libtards riled up! LOL….
