VICTORY!… Komen for the Cure to Cut Funding to Planned Parenthood Abortion Organization

Victory!… Komen for the Cure announced that it would cut funding to Planned Parenthood abortion organization.

Komen for the Cure is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.9 billion since inception in 1982. Above is a photo from the Komen walk in St. Louis. (STL)

Please take time and thank Komen for the Cure for doing the right thing – HERE.

The AP reported:

The Associated Press reportsthat Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the nation’s leading breast-cancer charity, will cut off its funding to Planned Parenthood affiliates, where the foundation has traditionally paid for preventive screening services.

According to the AP, the move will mean “a cutoff of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, mainly for breast exams.”Planned Parenthood confirms that Komen is the first, and only, organization to cut off funding since the Congress began debating the issue in earnest last winter.

Komen said it could not continue to fund Planned Parenthood because it has adopted new guidelines that bar it from funding organizations under congressional investigation. The House oversight and investigations subcommittee announced in the fall an investigation into Planned Parenthood’s funding.

Planned Parenthood has been at the center of a lot of heated political battles lately. Most center on whether the group, as an abortion provider, should receive government funds for other services it provides, such as offering contraceptives and preventive screenings.

So far, plans to curtail Planned Parenthood’s funds within government have been stymied. Both the Democrat-controlled Senate and President Obama, for instance, stood in the way of House Republicans’ attempts to end Planned Parenthood’s federal funding. Similarly, when a handful of states passed laws that would have barred abortion providers (such as Planned Parenthood) from receiving federal dollars through Medicaid, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services stepped in. The agency has warned states that they could lose all of their Medicaid funding if they implemented such a policy. Those defensive moves have allowed Planned Parenthood to weather various political attacks.

91% of the pregnant women who visit Planned Parenthood have an abortion.

This is such great news. I just couldn’t bring myself to support anything the Komen group did because of this funding. Another small victory in the battle.

    This makes me happy.

Thank God, when I heard that Komen was part of Planned Parenthood I never donated, now I will.

I thought it was preposterous that they ever partnered with PP.

Thanks to the tireless works of so many, goodness reigns again.

Life means more than anything. I am here and so are you because our mothers decided to keep us. Some of our mothers like mine never gave it a thought one to abort anyone of her 6 children. Even when the doctor told her no more after the 5th.

American Women of that day need to be interviewed, I would suggest that they are proud to know the Komen Foundation came to this wonderful decision. I have heard recently of drugs that pregnant women take that cause all kinds of damage to their unborn child. I was so amazed that a doctor could give such drugs and or that a pregnant woman could take them.

If serious condition warrants it but that has always puzzled me. Many babies are deformed or have conditions they will have to face the rest of their life. Something is very wrong here.

Thank God. I would guess that a lot of people who donated and participated in the runs didn’t even realize that they were inadvertently also donating to PP. I just found out myself a couple of years ago. I have boycotted everything I saw with their logo since and spread the word to many. It’s a good day!!

  • I believe this bears watching.

Komen and PP like that big money, non-profit crony arrangement, and are sisters-in-heart.
In fact, Susan Komen was the sister of the then president of PP when it was founded.
BTW, guess how many mammography machines PP has for all those “breast exams” Komen “funded”?

I wouldn’t get too excited about this. It is all about the money, ideologically they are still on the same page. Previously the abortion/breast cancer link didn’t seem to bother them much.

  • Probably a temporary thing for the media coverage. The MSM are blasting this, as if a cancer fund is supposed to be funding baby killing.

  • I get my profit sharing tomorrow. Komen is getting a donation and a thank-you letter.

  • Great news! Congrats to Komen on the end of an unhealthy alliance.

There is a word that everyone should remember,”fungible” it is commonly used to describe organization money. In effect any money that the organization has is in effect available to fund all parts of the organization. For example they can claim that they gave every woman a breast exam but that could be as simple as counting them , two, then using the money to fund abortion procedures.

That’s a big victory. I’ve been a big supporter of Komen for the Cure but they have gotten so large I tend to focus on other charities now. Nothing against Komen – it’s a great organization. I may even have to donate again (and how can you really help it as prevalent as they are?).

Planned Parenthood likes the blood money abortions provide too well. Any funding cut backs will be pressured to be reinstated, Imam Obama and Mitt ‘I’ll Betcha Ten Grand’ Romney will work to see this decision is reversed.

  • War on Women

Yay. Glad they were able to cut off the money that went to breast cancer screening. I’m sure many low income people who will now die of breast cancer feel the same way. Yay to killing low income people!

  • War on Women, you need to get rid of the rhetoric “poor women, and it’s for the children”
that is so 20th century. While you at it, racist, homophobe, islamaphobe won’t work either.
I’ll spend MY money (not other peoples money) where it does the most good, according
    to MY values and principles.

  • Wonderwhy

Yeah, Great Victory indeed. For who? Who wins? This is why Democrats will win, because the right is widely viewed as hateful, although you profess to be “Christians”, whatever that means. It certainly doesn’t match up with anything I read about Jesus. Nice.

The sad truth, abortion has been around forever, getting rid of abortion capabilities that are safe and sane…..only drives the practice back under ground, into darkness, for young women. No protection, more dangerous, more inhumane. Medieval. Everyone would like to see abortion stopped, but the only way to see this happen is to minimize the demand for them. The value of teaching abstinence, personal and social responsibility and sex education are the only real effective methods. think about it.

What kind of person fights to stop poor women from receiving potentially life saving medical screening tests for free.

By allowing these women to potentially join the other 40,000 women a year that die from breast cancer, you’re really living up to the whole ‘Pro Life’ Tag.
