In August 2010 President Barack Obama spoke about the economy at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In his address, President Obama described Amonix as a “success story”.

Earlier this week, Stimulus beneficiary Evergreen Energy bit the dust. Then, Ener1, a manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles and recipient of Stimulus largesse, filed for bankruptcy. And today, the Las Vegas Sun reports that Amonix, Inc., a manufacturer of solar panels that received $5.9 million from the Porkulus, will cut two-thirds of its workforce, about 200 employees, only seven months after opening a factory in Nevada.

    It would be great to have alisting of “green” projects/companies funded by the Porkulus with the date and amount of funding. The next column would be the date if failed (bankruptcy/shut down/laid off workers/moved to China, etc.) Finally an identification of the ties to the Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress (specific congress critters please). As they all die the dates of the chart would be filled in. We need to know which ones are a success and which ones were a money pit.

    COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

    COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

    ABBOTT: No, you miss my point.

    COSTELLO: What point?

    ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work, can’t be
    counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

    COSTELLO: To who?

    ABBOTT: The unemployed.

    COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work.

    ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work…
    Those who are out of work stopped looking. They gave up.
    And, if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the
    unemployed.

    COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment
    roles, that would count as less unemployment?

    ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

    COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes
    down because you don’t look for work?

    ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how you get to 9%. Otherwise
    it would be 16%. You don’t want to read about 16% unemployment do
    ya?

    COSTELLO: That would be frightening.

    ABBOTT: Absolutely.

    COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means
    they’re two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

    ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

    COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

    ABBOTT: Correct.

    COSTELLO: And unemployment can also
    go down if you stop looking for a job?

    ABBOTT: Bingo.

    COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment
    down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work.

    ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like an economist.

    COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!

    Now you know why Obama’s unemployment figures are improving,
    and you should be able to understand the State of the Union.

    My neighbors will never know this has happened. They watch only MSM and it will never be mentioned all year long——and Obama will skate thru again. This so discouraging—-even Fox doesn’t talk about it. If there are only 2 or 3 debates, do you really think any of the moderators from the MSM will even mention it?
