In case you haven’t noticed – the Republican establishment and east coast Mittwits have declared war on torchbearer Newt Gingrich.
Dammit Republicans… Do what you’re told! Get in line and back the RINO!

Ann Coulter loses her conservative street cred by pushing Reagan-basher Mitt Romney, of Romneycare fame, as the true conservative in the GOP race while bombing Newt.
Really Ann?… Really?
The Politico is tracking the war on Newt.
Newt Gingrich better hope voters who lapped up his delicious hits on the “elite media” and liberals don’t read the Drudge Report this morning.
Or the National Review. Or the American Spectator. Or Ann Coulter.

If they do, Gingrich comes off looking like a dangerous, anti-Reagan, Clintonian fraud. It’s as if the conservative media over the past 24 hours decided Gingrich is for real, and they need to come clean about the man they really know before it’s too late. This is just a sampling of what’s hitting Newt:
• The overnight Drudge Report banner: “Insider: Gingrich repeatedly Insulted Reagan.” The headline linked to a devastating takedown by Elliott Abrams in the National Review, who wrote, among other things, that Gingrich had a long record of criticizing and undermining Reagan’s most transformative policies.
• Drudge also linked prominently to the American Spectator’s R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr.’s similarly harsh takedown of Gingrich over character: “William Jefferson Gingrich.” In it, Tyrrell writes: “Newt and Bill are 1960s generation narcissists, and they share the same problems: waywardness and deviancy. Newt, like Bill, has a proclivity for girl hopping… His public record is already besmeared with tawdry divorces, and there are private encounters with the fair sex that doubtless will come out.”
Drudge runs hundreds of links to stories of all stripes about candidates, but has been seen by Republicans as favorable to Romney in the past.
• Bob Dole issued a scathing statement Thursday that the Romney campaign provided to the National Review in which he said “it is now time” to rally to stop Gingrich, blamed the former Speaker for losing House Republican seats in 1996, and warned that it could happen again, at all levels of government.
Fortunately Rush Limbaugh has not lost his mind.
The conservative stalwart led off with this segment today.
“Coordinated Avalanche Against Newt Doesn’t Match My Memory of Reagan Years”
This is getting really ugly. It’s unfortunate that our Republican brethren have to wage a shoddy smear campaign on Newt in order to slow his surge.

Americans are – or should be – completely fed up with the idiots at the top of either party telling us what to do! I do think that each and every one of us has a mind as well as has the capacity to decide for ourselves what is or is not best for us and the country or in a presidential candidate. All the crap is piled higher & deeper by the PhD’s in Washington. As far as I am concerned this is nothing but the “betters” telling us “lessers” what to do. The conservative elite are no better than the leftist elite – they all want is for the Tea Party and the rest of the “uninformed” to shut up and go away so we can be told how to think. I seem to recall during the campaign of 1980 the establishment GOP said the same things about Reagan. He was unstable, he could not beat Carter, etc, etc. I predict the same thing. Nancy Pelosi backed down from her silly statement about Gingrich after Gingrich invited her to say whatever she thought she had on him. So, Pelosi backs down, and Romney forges ahead.
We all know that Romney repeated his verbal attacks about Newt’s alleged ethics violations, even after it turned out that Newt had been cleared.
http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/01/romneys-claims-about-newts-ethics-charge-are-false-and-misleading/
Frankly, I don’t care which explanation is true. Mitt Romney owes Newt Gingrich an apology with suitable groveling, and if he doesn’t proffer it, he is going to set both himself and the Republican Party up for a justifiable loss.
Ripped commented:
Just remember Newt is a liberal con man. People need to get past his speeches and look at his ACTUAL RECORD. Since the 1980s Newt has been nothing but a Big Government Statist. He’s supported every hair brain scheme the far left has cooked up.
As of May THIS YEAR, Newt was supporting GOVERNMENT MANDATED health care insurance. He’s supported cap and tax, He supported a cap-and-trade program to limit carbon emissions and then later testified against it before a Congressional committee. Amnesty for illegals, and “green jobs” programs like Solyndra.
As a lobbyist, I mean “consultant”, Newt has shilled for Freddie Mac, at the very time Republicans were trying to reform both Fannie and Freddie. Newt was paid handsomely (more than $1.6 million over eight years.) to stop them. He’s also an ethanol whore, having gotten nearly a million bucks to shill for them, like he just did in Iowa.
Also remember Newt is corrupt. People forget he was the ONLY Speaker of the House in the 222 year history of the House of Representatives to be officially disciplined for ethics violations.
Newt is a disaster and would be the worst possible choice.
That a single human being supports this liberal con man is a national tragedy.

Three words the RINO establishment fear the most? THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE. And if they force Mitt Romney down our throats in a scorched earth war against “their annointed” candidate, then it’s time for Conservatives to abandon the Republican Party… and I mean abandon it for good.
And all their crying and sobbing afterwards won’t bring us back into their tent. We’ve been double-crossed by these same people far too many times. These are the same people that gave us Bush I (who gave us Clinton), Bob Dole (who gave us Clinton), Bush II & John McLame (who gave us Barack Obama) and Boehner & Cantor (who raised the debt ceiling by a few trillion in exchange for a bogus committee that was guaranteed to do absolutely nothing), and all the way straight down the line.
They’ve fought against their OWN Tea Party members who gave them back control of the House, for goodness sake!
And we’re suppose to believe them when they tell us that Romney (who at one point in his political career was left of Ted Kennedy) is really going to take care of our best interests and start governing like a true fiscal conservative when he’s never done so in the past? I don’t think this marriage between the RINOs and the Tea Party Fiscal Conservatives is working out.

The lie was obvious from the beginning, think about it? If you were going to have a conversation with your spouse about having an open marriage, you certainly wouldn’t have had it with “witnesses” or children from your first marriage in the room.
Imagine that. A man that was fined for ethics violations and ousted as speaker by his own party, lying? Oh the humanity. Say it isn’t so! A man that is a self proclaimed conservative, cheats on his diseased wives would stoop to lying to the public in a national debate? This must be some CNN propaganda. How dare they accuse such an obviously honest man of such a despicable act. Yet, the voting public, thanks to a huge push by the media themselves, is slobbering and drooling all over this piece of work. He lies about his accomplishments in Congress, especially as Speaker, and we are to believe that everything else he says is honest? His cheating and womanizing is to be believed as staunch family values too.
The people of this nation deserve exactly what they are receiving. Theft of liberties, extortion of the fruits of their labors, and all that goes with it, for refusing to wake up and stand against a tyrannical govt. Have fun with your decisions, no one to blame but yourselves.

Read what Dole wrote and don’t just be all ‘it has to be a lie because I disagree with it’- I disagree with Dole on policy issues, but his letter isn’t about policy positions, it is about the personality, character, and effect on elections of Newt. And what he suggests (and what many others have known Newt) is that Newt’s ‘I hate the media’ attacks, wild ideas, one man show, and flipping positions eventually wears out his welcome and he becomes more unfavorable than favorable to voters.
I know you like him, and others like him- but what matters is whether independent and moderate voters will like him or grow tired of his act and instead vote for an Obama who looks sane, stable, and moderate in comparison. I don’t freaking care who our nominee is- but it has to be someone who can beat Obama’s machine, and Newt has too many negatives that are easily exploitable by the liberal media (which is what moderate and independent voters listen to).
This election has to be about Barack Obama- it can not be about Newt, Mitt, Cain, or Rick. We can not nominate someone who is the ‘look at me’ type- we need a boring, generic, wallflower character who lived a perfect life with few negatives. We all must realize that our best option is ‘generic Republican’ for President, capturing the House and the Senate, replacing some Supreme Court justices, and in 4 to 8 years re-assess. Don’t bet my children’s future on a wild bet on Newt.

From my point of view, a vote for any of the current major party candidates besides Ron Paul is a vote for a candidate who supports NDAA, the Patriot Act, assassination of citizens abroad by the government, the TSA expanding out into the communities, and more wars. I won’t vote for that. It will be just as bad no matter which party is pushing that agenda.
I don’t want either equally, unless the opponent is Ron Paul. The rest support the same main agenda as Obama who supported the same main agenda as Bush, just with different methods, advancing what they could based on what their indoctrinated bases supported and what they could get away with. Any one who isn’t in support of the things that I listed which Obama and all but one of the Republican candidates support, is doing themselves and the rest of us a disservice by voting for one of them.
It’s a manipulation. It has been working on Republicans and Democrats for a long time. It will probably take one more election cycle for people to wake up and break free from it.
Bottom line is there is no difference between 0bama, Romney or Gingrich and if this doesn’t prove it to you nothing will.
I’m voting for Ron Paul, the only honest candidate in the race.

Moderate Gingrich’s own words but then again, we know what words mean to the Newtons:
“Measured against the scale and momentum of the Soviet empire’s challenge, the Reagan administration has failed, is failing, and without a dramatic change in strategy will continue to fail. . . . President Reagan is clearly failing.” Why? This was due partly to “his administration’s weak policies, which are inadequate and will ultimately fail”; partly to CIA, State, and Defense, which “have no strategies to defeat the empire.” But of course “the burden of this failure frankly must be placed first on President Reagan.” Our efforts against the Communists in the Third World were “pathetically incompetent,” so those anti-Communist members of Congress who questioned the $100 million Reagan sought for the Nicaraguan “contra” rebels “are fundamentally right.” Such was Gingrich’s faith in President Reagan that in 1985, he called Reagan’s meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev “the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Neville Chamberlain in 1938 in Munich.”

”The day after settling its criminal case on February 19, 2009, the U.S. government filed a civil suit against UBS to reveal the names of all 52,000 American customers, alleging that the bank and these customers conspired to defraud the IRS and federal government of legitimately owed tax revenue.[58] The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) had given the United States government the identities of, and account information for, certain United States customers of UBS’s cross-border business as part of its criminal investigation in 2009. On August 12, 2009, UBS announced a settlement deal that ended its litigation with the IRS.[59][60] However, this settlement set up a showdown between the U.S. and Swiss governments over the secrecy of Swiss bank accounts. It was not until June 2010 that Swiss lawmakers approved a deal to reveal client data and account details of U.S. clients who were suspected of tax evasion.[61]”

If NEWT is elected, you will find many, many old guard, establishment elites retiring – WHICH, is exactly what we want – to drain the swamp. Newt, just by being elected, will do it without even trying! The old politicians, RINOs, and establishment elites will NOT want their dirty laundry exposed by NEWT and they know he will TURN D.C. on its ear when he is elected. THAT’S why they don’t want NEWT to win. They want Romney because he will play nice and not rock the boat. They want their world to stay exactly as it is while OUR WORLD COLLAPSES. Nothing of substance??? Newt lasted all of four years as Speaker. As Bob Dole said, by 1997 they, his own peers, wanted him out…Any military commander will tell you that when you don’t have the respect and admiration of the troops, you will certainly fail as a leader. Newt failed miserably…That my friend is a lot of substance. Many here discount Bob Dole because of his failed Presidential bid. Before that, he was a highly respected Senator. He was a public servant when those words actually meant something…A highly decorated combat veteran and true patriot. We shouldn’t forget that…I was a fan of Newt’s back in the 90s and applauded the contract with America and subsequent balanced budgets that slimeball Clinton managed to take credit for…But, Newt lost me when he resigned from his seat. At the time I thought he was lynched by the democrats. It was only later that all the details have come out. The serial affairs in the midst of the Clinton years when Republicans impeached Clinton while Newt was hiding his affair with Calista. In point of fact, I’m sure everyone on the hill knew what he was doing and so he was likely viewed as a terrible liability and hypocrit…Since he left Congress, I really view Newt as being a man in the wilderness lobbying for a paycheck…I don’t think much of Washington parasites who don’t go back to private life when their time in office is over. The founders could never have imagined the lifetime politicians we have now with Newt being a prime example…My two cents. Not interested in trading insults with those who live for those things. I’m a retired military officer and small business owner. I’ve been on team Mitt since 2008. Would have much preferred him to McCain…
