Ron Paul to Conservative GOP Candidates: Get Out!

Rep. Ron Paul, whose supporters include liberals and democrats, told conservative candidates Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry, to get out of the race tonight. Paul believes he is the candidate who should take on Mitt Romney.

Rep. Ron Paul’s campaign called on the rest of the Republican field to drop out of the race and unite behind him in order to defeat Mitt Romney.
“We urge Ron Paul’s opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Paul’s candidacy,” campaign chair Jesse Benton said in a statement.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who has always put the Constitution first. If you oppose Ron Paul, then you condone using the Constitution like toilet paper, as done by FDR, LBJ, JC, GHWB, WJC, GWB, and BHO.

When the primaries get to the sane portion of the country – outside of either coast or the ultra party-bots in Iowa, RP will fade into the distant past. I am a former Republican, now Independent voter. After reading this blog for a few years I have come to some conclusions about Neo-Cons:
1. Fidelity to the U.S. Constitution & Bill of Rights is not a core conviction. They apparently don’t understand that the Constitution is the HIGHEST law of the land, all other laws flow from it and must align with it. It is the essence of who we are as a nation.
2. They tend to generally be ignorant of U.S. and world history, failing to recognize the fallacy in the idea that “it could never happen here” – i.e. creeping police state, totalitarianism, loss of national sovereignty, etc.
3. Regardless of numerous proclamations by G20 world leaders, they are either ignorant of the New World Order agenda or disregard it as a “conspiracy theory.”
4. They disregard George Washington’s warning to never place loyalty to a political party before fidelity to the Constitution.
5. They like “big government” just as much as Democrats, just in a different form.
6. They value looks and oratory ability over integrity and fidelity to the Constitution in the candidates they support. As a result, they, just like Democrats, accept being lied to election after election.
7. They fail to recognize the continuity of agenda of U.S. foreign policy over the past 50 years, regardless of which party occupies the White House or controls the Congress.
8. They fail to recognize the difference between loyalty to their COUNTRY and loyalty to their GOVERNMENT.
9. They are under the delusion that Fox News is any different that the other corporate whore media as it relates to pushing a political agenda – maintaining the status quo by supporting the left vs. right paradigm (red team vs. blue team b.s.).
10. They are generally ignorant of how our monetary system works.
It obvious that Gateway Pundit and virtually everyone on this blog cares deeply about our country, and I commend you for it. Please remember that claiming you belonged to x, y, or z in a comment blog section is meaningless. During the runup to the ’08 election we had people claiming to be ex-military, Christian Conservatives, and even a nun, so keep that in mind when trying to shame others regarding their convictions. Some were leaving racist remarks, ala LGF’s Kilgore Tool, just so they could change their moniker and condemn it on the very next comment.
Alright, I’m somewhat sympathetic to this point. How about articulating the steps necessary to end the Federal Reserve and fiat currency, i.e., what’s the interim(what do we do in the meantime) plan after giving the power of printing currency(coining money) back to congress? Platitudes are fine during a campaign, but as a practical matter, how would Ron Paul deal with the panic that would ensue by declaring our fiat money void? Please be specific as this is a very serious matter given our current economic situation.

RP has some worthwhile opinions but I think he’s carrying water for Iran. He’s always promoting and quoting their playbook and I have first-hand experience re: Iranians. It always seems to me like RP is blabbing all the Hamas talking points then throws in a little mishmash about smaller government and everyone goes gonzo, or they are trying to create a cohort effect–i.e. make it look like there’s a crowd behind him.
Personally I think Romney is the most electable candidate out there. I like Santorum but like Keyes (who I also thought was terrific) people will probably run because he is clearly a very religious man.

That would be a worthwhile goal… except it’s not part of the president’s power. The Federal Reserve falls under the legislative branch, not the executive. President Paul would have no power whatsoever to end it.

Considering they’re supposedly strict constitutionalist, that does seem to be a flaw in their thinking. As a matter of fact, most of what Ron Paul’s supporters list, few fall under the purview of the president. That’s why I asked atticcellar for specifics because I went to Ron Paul’s website, and basically there’s a list of grievances, i.e., criticism of Ben Bernake’s monetary policy, which is justified, but it offers little in the way of specifics other than advocating for the return to the gold standard. As I stated upthread, I can sympathize with the sentiment, but until there’s a clearcut proposal and more detail to his proposal, it’s nothing but campaign rhetoric

Maybe it is because he wants to give more civil liberty? or is it because he wants to strengthen the dollar by returning to the sound money method?
Those who call him a loon either do not understand him or like being told what they can and cannot do by the big government.
It is hardly strange that the people who mainly vote for him are worried about their future, he get’s significantly more votes from the 18-30 years old than any other candidate, the same age group who research more via social media and online content, content that hasn’t been tampered with to make him look bad.
Do your research! I am from the UK and wish we had a candidate like him.

That’s great Dan, but you failed answer the questions raised by Evil Otto, or myself, regarding what constitutional authority does the presidency possess to abolish the Federal Reserve, coin money, etc.? As I stated upthread, platitudes in a campaign are fine, but unless he’s willing to do it by executive order, it’s useless.

I consider myself no longer a Republican since RHINOs have taken over the party (i.e. Demonrat-lite). I held my nose to vote the lessor evil with McCain, but he was the co-sponser of the recent bill to detain americans upon american soil indefiantly. So, by default, my only hope for America is Ron Paul. I like his domestic policies, but his foreign policies & anti-semetic beliefs are crazy. Anyone else is just NObama-lite and will finish destroying America. Romney recently said he didn’t know the Constitution & referred the question to Ron Paul! Seriously? This is “our” candidate?!
I’m not holding my nose this time to vote for someone the media tells me is “winnable”. I’m voting for who I honestly believe will be best for America. If the GOP chooses Romney, and they will, I’m done voting Repuplican. This may be the last time I ever vote. God help us.

One more thing: Romney would and does fully support the Constitution. This is a CORE principal in his church and the solid type Mormons adhere to it fundamentally. Romney is one of those solid types.

This is how I see it:
Romney will get the nod from the Republican Party.
Paul will announce he’s running as an Independent. Take a large amount of votes from Romney to include pulling in democrats that won’t vote again for Obama and leave just enough for Hitler to win the election and give us four more damaging years.
That said, “we’re screwed either way”.
