Romney surrogate told voters this week, “It’s not about picking someone with your own beliefs and principles.”
So shut up. Get in line and support Mitt.

New Hampshire State Sen. Gary Lambert, speaking for the presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Gov. Romney, told the Nashua New Hampshire Republican City Committee that this year’s first-in-the-nation primary is not about liking a candidate,

“It’s not even about picking someone with your own beliefs and principles. This is about picking a person that can beat Barack Obama, period.”

  1. Oh you missed the BEST one Jim. Senator John McCain tells the crowd the unvarnished truth at a Romney rally in New Hampshire

  2. “It’s not even about picking someone with your own beliefs and principles. This is about picking a person that can beat Barack Obama, period.”

Hmmm. So now even Romney openly admits a real conservative has no chance against Obama.

I wonder why that is with the conservatives outnumbering liberals as conservatives claim.

  3. Ru Paul 2012

  4. The quote was directed at the supporters of candidates who have zero chance of winning i.e. Ron Paul (he was named in the video), Huntsman, Perry etc. The senator did not use the best words to express his thoughts but in the end he was correct.

Romney has the best chance at beating Barry, that is evident.

All aboard the Romney train. After we win in NH, we will win in SC.

  5. Sen Lambert, how can we be sure Romney can beat Obama when he couldn’t even beat John McLame for the GOP nomination in 2008?

    *************************************************************************

He can’t and won’t beat Obama. Still it is your best shot. Too bad for you and good for us lefties he is even more liberal than Obama.

  7. I got two words for ya, surrogate- get bent.

  8. unless Romney can convince me he’s turned the corner on his big government BS I have the same two words for him as well

looks like I’ll be stayin’ home this election and let Barry win so the GOP does not have it’s name on it when the train does wreck

    ==

  10. It depends on what the word LIKE means.

I heard this a month ago that you don’t have to like the candidate. Wasn’t that what Obama was ALL about.

Likeability, that is all you hear about the Commander in Thief. Something being played over and over on the networks and the internet is Obama is still very likeable. Barf.

“It’s not even about picking someone with your own beliefs and principles, SAY WHAT.

So, by this statement, NO ONE LIKE REAGAN. I think this Surrogate needs to put a SOCK in it.

  11. Well, Chuck, you stay home with your woe is me attitude. I don’t like the thought of Mittens as the nominee, but you know the old sayin’, “In life, you play the cards you’re dealt”. If that’s my draw, I will go to the polls and vote for Mittens in the general election. I won’t much like it, but I’ll be there. So, after the election, whatever the outcome, just remember you opted out and have no right to complain.

I have never understood how people can not vote. I guess it was so ingrained in me from an early age, that I must always exercise that one right, no matter what. I have never missed voting in any election. I’ve thought about it, but that ole voting booth beckons and I obey.

  12. If a candidate does not share my beliefs and principles, why would I bother to vote for them? Would that reason be because some political operative told me to?

The nonsense in this arguement is that someone I do not agree with wants me to vote for him for no reason at all.

Am I the only one that could imagine a Romney/Obama debate where Romney says ‘he is going to fix Obamacare and not remove it?’ Which will of course leave all anti-obamacare people hung out to dry by politicians we do not believe in!

  13. Chuck, I hope those are just words of frustration, not your actual plan for election day.

There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, more important than removing Barack Obama.

If Romney is our best shot (I’m not sure that’s the case, but let’s assume) then I’ll back him.

This just isn’t a difficult thought process. Beat Obama. Beat Obama. Beat Obama.

  14. Next up:

Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild endorses Romney!

  15. It’s real easy Sasja. I’ve held my nose and pulled the handle in the past. It never worked out well. A RINO is just Dhimmeroid Lite. If Romney, et al continue to govern on the idea that government can do it all then he is NOT qualified to be the President.

This nonsense that he’s a better candidate just because he’s going to drag us down to ruin a little slower than Barry is just foolish thinking. This country needs a true conservative that will rein in government by actively destroying all these out of control agencies and killing off 95% of the transfer payment vehicles that rob one taxpayer at gunpoint and give it to another as a vote bribe.

If Romney or another were just a little bit off cue on conservative principles I would have no trouble pulling the handle for him but another McLame is NOT a conservative.

As far as a cards simile, ya got to know when to fold ‘em, take your money off the table and leave the game. My wife and I have built a “winter home” in the tropics. If this heads for the ditch it’ll be our permanent retirement home.

  16. Thank the Republican party for this elitism. Also thank the voters. Some of the conservative Republicans are longtime politicians. If they were turned out of their current cushy position, they might decide tho take the risk of running for president. As it is, why should they put their current sweet deal at risk?

Don’t re-elect incumbents unless there is no alternative. Just wanting your guy to have seniority is not a reason to re-elect. 90% of even the best of them are corrupted by circumstances anyways.

  17. Hey Senator Eyebrows- Rmoney is the 29% er. That is is whole appeal. Nominating romney means Obama gets a cake-walk to another term, and who knows Obama might be in forever. What GOPer would want to captain the Muslim Titanic after he gets done?
So sure. We’ll vote for Romney….But plan on Obama winning.

  18. In the meantime, we need to see Mittens is NOT the nominee. I think some are being persuaded, and wrongly, that he is the only one who can beat Zero. Do not let the same people who gave us McCain, push Mittens on us. We have to beat back the establishment GOP and now is a good time. Mittens will be running the same type of campaign as McCain.
On one important issue, health care, there is no difference between Mittens and Zero. Remember it was Mittens’ advisors who helped this administration draft the fed legislation.

  19. All these candidates are millionaires. It is about $$. Who runs out first. Or who has enough to continue and win. I haven’t thought too much of the process and yet, I have to have hope that Americans could pick the best man.

“person that can beat Barack Obama, period.”
All he needed to add to this was the “money”

That is what this whole thing is truly about

  20. I agree with Robert and BigL. I didn’t used to care about term limits but it has become obvious that we REALLY need it. I’d say six years total. So you could serve one term as a Senator or three as a Rep. No crossovers. Either that or as one wag put it, the first 500 names in the Boston phone book.

I do think BigL might be wrong on Romney winning. I still think there’s enough momentum that he could edge Barry out. But that does not take into consideration what the LSM and the Dims will do in the nasty tricks department nor how many zombies will vote this election. In Minnesota the libtard governor veoted the ID law. The earliest it could be implemented with an override is AFTER this election. So I do think BigL has a good point but I’m not sure at this point in time.

  21. #20 Sasja, I completely agree. Of what we DO have I would perhaps like Perry/Rubio. What other combos do you think?

  22. Perhaps you should leave, Chuck. It’s obvious you are not up for a fight and we really need people who are ready to do battle (politically, of course). As it stands, you are just so much dead weight with your attitude. I, my friends, and a whole lot of others, will soldier-on until our last breath.

  23. I will never vote for another John McCain again, and that is exactly what Romney is: John McCain the 2nd.

I will vote for Ron Paul if Ronmey is the establishment pick. Romney will never beat Imam Obama, the only difference is their skin color.

My son said something I have been thinking about alot, and that is: Our economy is headed for collaspe with the GOP increasing the spending limits, refusing to reign in Washington DC and allowing corruption going on right before our eyes. Many times the GOP was fully complicent it this criminal enterprise.

I would prefer that Imam Obama be at the helm when the ship goes down, because it is headed that way, quickly. The GOP refuses to stand for anything except more of the same. Romney reeks of this corruption. The GOP has not cut one red cent of the federal budget, has not reduced regulation and has pretty much given Imam Obama everything, including judges, what he wants.

Supporting the GOP is nothing but more loss of liberty and freedom, only wearing a different hat.

  24. More FEAR MOngering by the folks who want to keep us under their Socialist Thumbs – It doesnt matter which one Dem or RINO – as long as we COMPROMISE out of fear of losing.

With Men it is “Impossible” – for a REAL Conservative to win. They forget that it worked well for the Founders & for some 150 Years, until these deceivers told enough lies, big enough for them to be believed. For them it si about “being realistic” and “Following the MOney” and “voting for the one who can win”. It is ONLY because they have sold these lies so well that people vote for THEIR candidate because they say hes the one who “Can Win” and by doing so they MAKE IT TRUE.

With GOD ALL things are POSSIBLE – If ALL PEOPLE of FAITH VOTED & voted their VALUES people LIKE ROMNEY, Gingrich, McCain, Huntsman, Paul, Obama would NEVER be elected. There are over 300 Million Christians eligible to vote out of which ONLY 65 Million usually do. AND EVERY election is generally won by LESS than 10 Million votes. If just HALF of Christians VOted for the MOral Conservative, we would win EVERY TIME. The Good news is that CHRISTIANS ARE beginning to see the light. MOre and More are insisting on voting for Candidates who will STAND up NOT ONLY for Fiscal sanity, but ALSO for the MORAL sanity of Natural Law & the Constitution that will ensure continued fiscal sanity. More are registering and more are standing behind Conservatives. Some however are slow to get it. we must wake them up more fully.

The ISSUE is NOT SIMPLY nominating someone who can beat OBAMA – It is NOMINATING someone who NOT ONLY CAN BEAT him, but nominating someone who wWILL ACTUALLY DO what is Necessary to turn the ship around. ROMNEY WONT-Gingrich WONT-Huntsman WONT-Paul will Stop it-and turn in it in another direction that still leads to the same fall. Rick Santorum and Rick Perry are the ONLY ones LEFT who will do what is good and right for Americans rather than just appeasing BIG MONEY friends as Romney & Gingrich would do, or Removing all Moral Constraints like Ron Paul would do.

This twit claims that polls dont lie. THis is half true. Good pols dont lie, but the people who devise them often make bad polls with questions that will be easy to manipulate, and they LIE about the results and conclusion. I have often seen this claim that ROMNEY beats Obama in polling, but NEVER accompanied by DATA proving it. Have these RINO Establishment folks, their BUDDIES ion the Liberal Media, or even the Dems EVER asked YOU who you would vote for?!? NO, Me Either, And I am CONVINCED they NEVER will because they KNOW I wont give the answer they want everyone to believe after their “poll” of likely Socialist voters. THe ONE thing that matters most in choosing candidates is whether or not they have the conviction and dedication & loyalty to those Morals to stand against bribes, threats, and all of the forces that seek to control us thru a WEAK government. They ensure their success by manipulating polls and thuis elections and putting weak men with few morals in office, convincing us that they are good enough managers to do a good job. THANKS but NO THANKS. I will be voting for Santorum or Perry whether their names are on the ticket or I have to write them in.

Please read “The 5,000 Year Leap” by Cleon Skousen about the 28 Bible-Based Principles the founders used to guide them in writing the Declaration, Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Establishing this GREAT NATION that has prospered more under these guiding principles than ANY other nation in history. We are NOW in decline BECAUSE we have been letting many of the principles slip. This is EXACTLY what the Founders Warned us would happen, too.

  25. Haven’t really focused on any combos but I like Perry/Rubio as well. Right now my mantra is anyone but Obama and Mittens. I do lean heavily towards Perry. Heck, at this point, I’d even take Newt over Romney. I really, really, do not want Romney to be the nominee.

  26. Problem is for us. We can’t take more Obama, here. He is killing us. I pray Paul is not the candidate and especially if he gets it in his harebrained head to run on a Third party ticket.

We lose, Bo wins. And his little dog, too.

  27. it has to be someone beholden to the RNC rather then the american people.

  28. “It’s not even about picking someone with your own beliefs and principles. This is about picking a person that can beat Barack Obama, period.”

What the hell then, is the point of having representation? Not only do we want to see Obie get tossed, we want the person to toss him to share our values and our political philosophies. Why replace Obie with someone that’s only going to be a slight improvement?

  29. #24 Sasha, I am 66 years old and have been fighting the fight for many decades now. I fought the gun grabbers in Illinois in the 70′s. I helped dump a number of fascisti in Illinois, California, and on the national level. I belong to the Heritage Foundation, the NRA, the American Legion, and many others. I have sent funds to both PAC’s and individuals across the country.

I do what I can, but I see an overwhelming tide of “me-ism” robbing my grandchildren’s economic futures and I don’t see very many brave folks in the political arena willing to stand up and get shot to pieces by the LSM a la Sarah Palin. Then we have turncoats like Scott Brown who take our money and then turn squishy on just about everything.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel at the state and local levels. I see more and more legislatures and governors’ mansions getting conservative electees. Perhaps this will matriculate into the national politics. By then I’ll probably be dead of old age.

  30. So if according to this douchebag this is “about picking someone who can beat Barack Obama, period”, then it stands to reason that we ought to quit our quibbling and nominate Hillary Clinton.

That’s the logic he’s asking voters to follow, taken to the end conclusion. It doesn’t matter whether the nominee shares our beliefs and principles, what matters is beating Obama. So if beliefs and principles don’t matter, and only beating Obama matters, what is his argument against Hillary Clinton as the GOP nominee?

    Idiot.

  31. Chuck, I am 67. I understand the frustration you feel, and disappointment in, those we elect to do the right thing and find they are weak-kneed and spineless. Where I live, we have good, strong conservatives representing us (except for one). While they don’t get alot of national exposure, they are fighting the good fight. Jim Inhofe is one. I admit this is the first real political challenge I have had to face, except for working to get as much liberalism out of the public schools as possible. I just hate to see, or hear, anyone say they will sit out an election (unless it’s the opposition, then I’m all for it). So, whatever you decide, wherever you go, I wish you God speed, my friend.

  32. Let’s just let the Establicans pick our candidate because principles and values are so….overrated.

I will not vote for ‘His Inevitableness.’

  33. Ronmeycare

    Global Warming advocate

    Flip Flop

We must do better than Mittens: Rino with great hair, McCain 2.0

  34. Ron Paul supporters stood with me on the cold winter sidewalks protesting TARP bailouts. The establishment is beating the Tea Party down 10 times harder than it ever worked against Obama. Its easier to eat your own than fight against fascism . It is sad how many fresh leaders of TEA sold out the movement once they got into power and now stand arm in arm with the same old folding cowards who just obey the powers above and order your SURRENDER to the NWO agenda. If I wanted a vapid game show host to lead my party, I would be watching reruns of Family Feud.

  35. Whenever the Donks wantto win they move Center and Center-rignt. Recently Emmanuel did that in ’06 and the GOP were busy goin to clubs and spending OUR money and never fought back.
There has to be some kind of alternative to The Donks. If they are running to the center then we better be to the right of them. What is the use of Nominating romney when he is donk-lite. Who will vote for Romney on the Democrat/Demorcrat socialist (All donks)side? They already have their candidate: Obama.
Obama has all the Unions locked up. All my teacher friends will never vote GOP even those most have lost their job and/or the house. All the blacks, the Jewish voters, the Hollywooders, the Arts, the gays,
Most independents (no matter what they say or the pundits say) Most women, the older senior citizens who feel sorry for Obama (that is what they say). The kids if they bother to vote. The mexicans that are legal will never vote GOP, no matter what (but only about 4% bother). all the illegals, who don’t vote but their votes “are counted” anyway.
There might be a chance of a GOPer if and only if there was a defined alternative, i. e. a conservative and an adult who can explain what is wriong with Obama policies and Reid nopt passinga budget etc. But not if there is a democrat lite, which is no choice at all.

  36. This guy is counting on you hating Obama more than loving your principles. The entire Republican party post 2010 election believes your contempt for Obama will let them slide on doing NOTHING for you. He is confessing the scam going down before our eyes. Replacing Obama with Romney is NO consolation. It is an even worse outcome because to allows the establishment to continue with this wicked good old boy network game of never servicing the people who vote for them. Both parties are now just left right wings of the same vulcher feeding off the carcass of our dying country.

  37. Let Mittens manage the decline.

    Romney ’12

  38. The establishment is beating the Tea Party down 10 times harder than it ever worked against Obama.

    Yup

  39. I will not support Romney, ever.

‘When Mitt Romney strapped his Irish setter to the roof of his car in 1983 and drove all the way to Canada as the dog defecated in fear, he couldn’t have guessed his decision would follow him for decades, enraging animal lovers and raising questions about his character and management style.’

Mitt Romney’s Dog Incident Comes Back To Haunt Him (PHOTO)

Throw in Romneycare and his crony capitalism.. Bain.. and you have an unelectable candidate.

  40. #30
    BJS
You nailed it. If your beliefs and principles don’t matter why vote? What does Romney offer me if he doesn’t repsent my principles. This is exactly why Romney is unfit to be president. I wouldn’t trust him to carry out one promise he has made. And this is based on his record in Massachusetts.

  41. Recall the the establishment country club blazer set in NH FORCED the tea party chair out of his party leadership position in NH so that Romney would be in an unopposed position come primary day…….>> http://www.opednews.com/populum/link.php?id=137269

  42. This is both depressing and frightening, that conservatives would actually consider behaving in a way that would help Barack Obama stay in power for 4 more years.

Romney is not my choice, because of his squishy “moderate” credentials and some of the lousy things he has championed. But if he becomes the nominee, I’m not about to throw a tantrum and refuse to vote for him. In this presidential election, there is only one goal: GET RID OF OBAMA.

Anyone thinking that Romney (or anyone else this side of Billy Ayers) could possibly be as bad as Obama is someone not thinking things through. If I had to be sick, and I had my choices between two diseases, I would be rather foolish to pick cancer instead of the flu. That is the difference between Obama and Romney.

  43. Readbeard, #15,

You’re so funny! I’ll bet you anything that if Ron Paul gets the nomination, you will stay home…lol.

But hey! If Romney gets it, you’ll vote. Romney is even more liberal than your Keynian Président. Romney is a Big Establisment puppet. A Status Quo man! Nothing will change, you will be getting more of the same.

Romney is so anxious, just like Obama to start Nuclear WWIII with Iran. Is this what you want! China, Russia and Pakistan to nuke your country? Boy, will the NWO be happy, they already want to reduce 80% of the World population. And you will be part of that reduction, since for once, the war will be on your land.

Only Ron Paul can prevent the radiation of the whole Planet with his foreign policies. Only Ron Paul can win against Obama. Only Ron Paul can give you back your country and bring it back to it’s Constitutional status. He is America and the World last hope!

  44. We’ve already voted via absentee here in Florida. The entire family chose the same candidate. 12 votes for Newt.

American Conservatives derided Dems for letting the MSM pick their candidate in 2008. If Mitt wins the GOP primary the MSM will have done it again, and conservatives will have proven themselves to be just as gullible and lazy as Dems are when it comes to vetting a candidate.

  45. Right now I will support anyone who can get that POS out of the White House.

  46. Perry/Rubio,Perry/Jindahl,my dream would be Ryan/Rubio.

  47. #47-sorry,that man is looney. If he’s the last hope I have no hope at all.Would definitely not vote at all if he were the nominee. And if he runs 3rd party he and his followers will put obama back in the WH.

  48. Yeah? We vote or Romney (through the primaries) because he can ‘beat Obama’….then we’re stuck with Romney. A power-hungry, arrogant(he thinks he’s deserving of the White House opposed to those other ‘outsiders’) elitist who will look down his nose at the ‘masses’, turn a deaf ear to the voters and be every bit the left-of-center liberal he is– because we don’t know what’s best for us.

  49. What really gets me is how these morally bankrupt republicans BOAST how they can win in Democrat districts as if they have the power to convert democrats over to our party. They have no power to gather the prodigal sons among democrats and bring them over to our way of thinking …. Quite the opposite..These are republicans who have been sucessfully converted by the Democrats to THEIR way of thinking.

  50. I’m counting on a Tea Party dominated congress.

  51. Practical Jane NOT SO PRATICAL… Gingrich? WOW, you will all end up in Hell and the NWO will be running all countries. I always wonder why such ignorant people vote? It would have been muich better if you wouldn’t have voted at all.

Well enjoy your future tyranny| Boy the people on this site are clueless. You are all brain dead| No awakening for you Zombies.

  52. These republican partisian hacks are really SAD Craig. They have no idea what a FAILURE Romney will be on the national stage. I was at a market today and the sharp jokes about Romney’s millions are already circulating amongst the people . Romney can buy hacks like Senator Lambert real cheap , but he can’t buy people outside the establishment . . . This guy Lambert sounds like a pimp giving his whores a training pep talk. ” be sure and take your cash first ..THEN drop your pants ….do your thing …tell your client that was the best you ever had and then get the hell out of there. Don’t talk too long …don’t get emotionally attached to your client…keep the sex on a strictly business level”

  53. Craig, I really didn’t think you could get any nuttier, but I stand corrected. So now you are the only conservative here, huh? What color is the sky in your world?

What you ARE is most likely locked up in a laughing academy, using the bolted-down and armored computer in the solarium to post your loopy thoughts. I can’t wait until it’s once again time for the orderlies to escort you up there, so you can impart more of your infinite wisdom to the rest of us.

During exercise period, see if you can teach Chief how to play basketball. Just watch out for Nurse Ratched and those electrodes.

Ryan/Rubio could happen in 2016 That would be my choice, too.

    Craig:

Since you know so much about h3ell why don’t you inform us of what its like down there. You are clearly a sub contractor for Satan if not an actual servant of him. I’d think you’d enjoy swelling his dominions.

  56. #56
    Craigie:

My bad. I just realized anyone who would listen to you is damned. You post to recruit. It allfalls into place now, supporting terrorists, praising evil regimes, attacking goodness, yup its clear.

  57. This guy is 100% marxist dialectic process. Dialectic process: Thesis must abandon principle for the sake of relationship in order to be cooked by the process.

What kind of fool advice is this? The leader who stands for principles is the leader who is elected by a people who stand for principles. America MUST repent of the dialectic process or she will be one, big, soviet.

Woe to the facilitators of the dialectic process!!! Jesus response to the master facilitator of them all: “It is written….it is written….it is written.” (And the lake of fire burns forever and ever.)

  58. Romney is NOT the only Republican who can beat Obama. Any of them, except Ron Paul, will do that easily.

But Romney has been running for President for the last 4 years. That has been his only job. He has the Staff and the Resources to contend in every primary. No other candidate can do that.

So … Romney will be the Republican nominee. And he will be elected in November 2012 by somewhere between a large majority to a landslide.

Obama’s ‘brain trust’ have already given up. They plan to run a ’50 State Campaign’. Which means they realize he cannot possibly win re-election. All they can do is to try to limit the scope of the defeat so as not to look so bad in history.

Why does the 50 state quote mean they embrace defeat?

    The old adage still applies.

“He who defends everything defends nothing.”
