Romney Gave 15% to Charity – Obama Gave 1% to Charity

Obama wants Americans to pay their fair share.

He won’t. But he will spend your money on lavish vacations for his wife.

Obama only gave 1% of his income to charity last year.
FOX Nation reported:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign.

The Obamas increased the amount they gave to charity when their income rose in 2005 and 2006 after the Illinois senator published a bestselling book. The $137,622 they gave over those two years amounted to more than 5 percent of their $2.6 million income.

Romney charitable contributions

Tax year Taxable income Charitable donations Donations as % of income
2010 $21.7 million $2.98 million 13.73%
2011 (est) $20.9 million $4 million 19.14%

You mean Obama doesn’t give to his “church” anymore???

  • And where did he donate his 1%? What charities? I’d bet zero donation(s) were made within the USofA…

Is that your fair share Soetoro? It’s easy to donate 1% when US taxpayers are picking up most of your travel, entertainment and vacation expenses.

Stupid Teabaggers! President Obama gives PLENTY of money to charities. He’s taken hundreds of billions and given them to ACORN, Planned Parenthood, GM, unions, and countless other charity cases.

Compassion begins with the theft of your neighbor’s wallet, since we all know he’ll just spend the money on stupid crap like NASCAR and beer.

Drudge summed it up and shame on the Republicans if they don’t use this to BLUDGEON the DimocRATS.

    From Drudge:
Romney gave 15% to charity; Obama 1%…

Biden gave $369… Romney paid 42% of 2011 income in taxes and charity…

A study was done a few years ago to compair conservatives and liberal spending on charity. The conservatives won that hands down with giving 30 or 40% more money to churches, charities, and organizations that help the poor either through churches or other sources for help, more than liberals. What the study found was that liberals believed that charity should come from the government, and were not willing to give their own money. Liberals believed that as long as their intent to help the poor is all that is necessary to help people. Only one problem with that is you can’t fill the belly of someone who is hungry with “intent”. The only thing that will fill the belly of the hungry is money to buy food, real food, not intended food.

It’s a fact that more people were being helped by Christian’s, and other conservatives because of their faith and spiritual beliefs that they should help people, “…with a happy heart.” Also to, the Bible tells us that we are to help people and not tell them you are, you are to help them and they not know it came from you. It’s to be done in secret. I have done that for many years and it really gives me a thrill to know that it was my money that gave that little poor kid a Christmas they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. Liberals on the other hand want people to know who did what and how much. It’s so they can compete with other Hollywood types and rich people to get that “one upmanship” on somebody. It’s for their glory that they do it for the poor, or that they announce how much they care about the poor, and then they give a pitance. But you see it’s the intent, not the amount. Besides the average liberal really doesn’t give a crap about somebody who is living on the street. And that’s not to say that there are liberals who help people all the time. They may seem like they are giving alot, but they are seeking the glory for it as well, or they are mostly after big government donations so they won’t have to spend their own money or their friends either.

Jim: Do you not read the text of the very things you post?

“The Obamas increased the amount they gave to charity when their income rose in 2005 and 2006 after the Illinois senator published a bestselling book. The $137,622 they gave over those two years amounted to more than 5 percent of their $2.6 million income”

So, the most recent data for the Obamas charitable contributions say 5%. Why title your
post with the most recent data for Romney, but the OLDER data available for Obama?

Is it more eyecatching to be intentionall dishonest?

Yes, 15% is more that 5%. But those are the real numbers.

  • Dunce

I would bet that the number of democrat senators, congressmen, and governors that gave 20% of their income to charity was zero but they want redistribute other peoples money. How many of that same group’s total charitable contributions would it take to match Romney in any year, to match him over 5 or 10 years?

  • Dell

How many of you give 5% of your gross taxable income to charity?

  • Sasja

Liberals only like giving away other people’s money. They are stingy. Especially, Hollyweird types. As though giving of their time is some big deal. Most of them still expect the charity they’re supposedly helping, to pay their expenses. I remember watching a TV program about Palm Springs and the annual charity events put on by the elites. One charity ball got so expensive there was hardly any money left for the charity. You see, they take what has been donated, subtract the cost of the event, and give the remaining money to the charity. Now that’s really generous.

  • cal rifkin

Hey, C’mon…they deal, supply, give lots of OPM to the masses….you know OPM? – Other People’s Money. (all y’all can use that)

  • Sasja

@my #17. Palm Beach. Not Palm Springs.

  • Sasja

#16. Dell. According to recent data, I am part of the so-called poor (although I don’t think I’m poor). What my contributions to my church and to charities are really none of your business, but will respond and tell you it is over 10%.

  • Dell

#14 Zoom….The very article you are commenting on says the Obamas gave 5% over the course of 2005-2006, which is the newest data offered.

If you’re bringing up the Clintons, it’s good to know that they gave over
9% of their income to Charity.

Dick Cheney, on the other hand is what you might call a “1 percenter”. That’s how much
    he gave to charity.

  • Dell

    #20

“What my contributions to my church and to charities are really none of your business”

    Exactly.

  • thought the nobel prize was supposed to be donated to charity too.
we missing a million or so there?

  • oops thought it said 2008 not 2006 disregard

  • Dell

From the numbers, it looks like Romney makes $100-$140 MILLION per years.

It makes you wonder, after those charitable contributions, how can he afford
to live on only $80-$120 million a year?

  • Gus

Dell, you do realize that you sound like a blubbering pussy don’t you?? Obama is a clown and so are you.
Romney is a success story. Obama is a pussy. We are coming for you Dell. Be afraid.

  • Sasja

Dell, first off, it’s none of your business because I am a private citizen. Mittens is running for a political office, Zero is president and expects everyone to “have skin in the game” except himself and his greedy wife. He should provide the public all monies earned while in office and what, if any, charitable contributions, since he thinks the great unwashed are not doing enough to help him spend, spend, spend.

As to Dick Cheney. Please provide your source.

  • Joe Texan

Wow, Dell, you are REALLY bad at math. Do you work for the Tim Geithner?
    4,000,000 / 20,900,000 = .1914 or 19.14%

  • PAT09

Can’t Obama count all the other peoples money he took and gave to someone else in his charitable giving?

Somehow, I don’t think the left and MSM will see the Mormon Church as a “Charity”……… certainly not a REAL charity…………

  • Joe Texan

Wow, Dell, I must be REALLY bad at proofreading. I was going to say “Do you work for the Treasury Department,” but changed it to “Tim Geithner,” and I forgot to take out the word “the.”

  • Gus

Pooooor pooooor Dell, a LIBTARD who needs government to survive. POooor baby.

  • Ausonius

    Dell:
Perhaps you are seeing double, but Mitt doesn’t earn in the nine figures, the headline shows his income for 2011 as 20.9 million (estimated).
Isn’t it his business how he spends his money? The fact is he has likely donated more to charities in his life than many communities have. His yearly donations shown for 2010 or 2011 are more than the average wage earner will make in a lifetime. Were he and others denied the ability to earn and keep their wealth, others will not be better off, but worse.
I don’t recall the numbers offhand, but the business owners in America are able to continue generating an economy that generates @14.3 trillion dollars this year. They are able to do this with a fraction of that in wealth. If you take their wealth, there in essense will be no economy left.
How will that help anyone then.
Liberalism represents collective poverty. It produces nothing but a dead human spirit and soul.
Capitolism is the only system that has been shown to improve everyone from top to bottom.

  • ASE

Okay Jim, maybe it’s just that you don’t actually READ the articles you link to.

You said: “Obama only gave 1% of his income to charity last year”

The FOX article says: “Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent”

Just to clarify, 2000-2004 doesn’t really count as “Last year”. Pretty sloppy

  • Dell

Gus….You are the most entertaining person here. You’re either off your meds, or a brilliant troll.

  • Ausonius

    #29
You mean a real charity like say, ACORN?
(I don’t know if ACORN was set up as a non-profit, but many liberal activism arms are and likely are eligible for tax-exempt contributions).
Many so-called left-wing churches are little more than tax exempt liberal activist organizations. Their theology bears no resemblance to orthodox Christianity.

Sorry folks, this means ZERO to anyone voting – this will not change anyone’s mind as to who gets their vote.

Scumbag lefty’s will vote for Obama, reasonable people will vote against him.

    That’s it.

  • Hawke

Not seeing 1% last year, seeing 13.6% for 2010 (245k out of 1.8 million). I get that in the early 2000s he wasn’t giving, but we don’t have the same data for Romney so it isn’t Apples to Apples.

  • jimg

How many of you give 5% of your gross taxable income to charity?

I’m not the one going around demanding everybody pay their fair share.
I’m not the one going around demanding everybody have some skin in this game.
I’m not the one demanding things of others, and then not doing what I demand of others myself.

    Big difference.

  • Molon Labe

Dell you’re very funny. Leftards don’t match Romney so they’re good and he is evil.

[[Mr Obama was given a $225,000 advance to write the 2007 Dreams From My Father.
