According to an article on The Sacramento Bee, the great progressive state of California will be broke by early March:
“California will run out of cash by early March if the state does not take swift action to find $3.3 billion through payment delays and borrowing, according to a letter state Controller John Chiang sent to state lawmakers today.
The announcement is surprising since lawmakers previously believed the state had enough cash to last through the fiscal year that ends in June.”
The reason given for this sudden shortfall in funds is that the courts have blocked some cuts and some expected savings may appear later in the fiscal year than expected.
Or could it just be that the progressive nanny state of California spends way too much freaking money?
You decide…

The State Once Known as California is now known as “Paradise Lost’. The paradise for those wealthy enough to afford living in La-La Land while businesses and citizens (aka ‘The Tax Base’) rush out to more appealing areas is no more. Soon, you’ll see some sort of ‘Celebrity’-backed telethon for the State

Lib state?? Of course Here in Wisconsin, We were $3.6 billion in the hole. Scott Walker and the State Republicans fixed that. And LIBTARDS went ape. You see as part of the solvency plan, Public GOOONIONS were required to pay 5.6% of their pension and 12.% of their insurance premium.
How much do you pay? I pay a hell of a lot more than that.
Aaron Z. commented:
As a Californian, I can tell you the reason California is out of money:
1. The government vastly overspends.
2. We have one third of all welfare cases in the nation, even though we have only 12 percent of the population.
3. We already have the “Buffet rule,” in which the wealthier pay huge percentages of the tax burden. The top 1 percent of earners, for example, pay 40 percent of the income taxes. Since the income of the wealthy is extremely volatile, California’s revenues have dropped 25 percent since 2008, even though her taxes have increased dramatically.
4. California has the most business-hostile climate in the nation. It takes three years of red tape, for example, to open a new fast-food franchise. In Texas, it takes a week.
5. We have $500 billion in unfunded liabilities for pensions and benefits of state workers. Our annual budget is about $85 billion, which means we can’t possibly pay off what we owe to our government retirees, almost all of whom retire at 50 on disability. We can’t even pay their current salaries, much less their pensions and benefits.
California is a proving ground for liberalism. The more liberal legislation you pass, the more like California your state will become.

You notice the only possible solution the State Controller offered was to skip payments or borrow more. There will be political hell to pay if California gets bailed out by the Federal Government. Two reasons: 1) The overwhelming number of liberals that infest the major metro areas, which pretty much dominate state politics, and 2) The Republicans in CA are largely sucky RINOs.
The average idiot voter here in California wouldn’t be able to tell you the difference between an actual conservative and a RINO; to them, they’re both the same, and when Arnold the RINO proved ineffective, it damaged the brand even more.
The only Republican that I can think of off the top of my head that might be worth anything is Tom McClintock. There’s probably a few others, but I can’t think of them.

Note: California lite up RED in the majority of the districts. However, it was not enough to conquer Los Angeles, Sacramento, Mendocino, San Francisco and Santa Barbara counties.
Additional note: Due to the outcome here in California, our beloved San Joaquin Valley (the breadbasket of our Nation) will continue to go without water supply. Compliments of Barbara Boxer.
In November of 2010, Dennis Miller said it best:
“It was like Christmas and while most of the nation was getting a G.I. Joe, here in California, we got a gray sweater and a chocolate dickie.”
It is the large metropolitan areas of this state the rule the outcome. There are many conservatives that live here, unfortunately we are in the minority and it is frustrating as hell. I could go on but I won’t…

I propose, for all wage-earning residents of California, a one-time tax of 75% of their gross income. Anybody who refuses to pay will be assessed an additional 10% for failing to pay and jailed.
On top of that, all home owners will be assessed a one-time property tax of 50% of the assessed value of the property. Any homeowners who refuse to pay will be summarily evicted, their property confiscated and sold at auction to pay their tax burdens.
All goods and services will be assessed a Value Added Tax (VAT) at 25% for 5 years.
All proceeds go directly to paying off the debt.

Well, I guess Occupy Oakland will have a few new members who ought to be the mayor’s, city council’s, school board members and police chiefs who refused to cut spending and more and more deals with their liberal lawmakers in the State House of Representatives, and the Governor’s office. Deal making instead of doing what is going on in Wisconsin with all the state union members kicking in on their pension funds and medical benefits would have saved California billions of dollars that California would have now to pay down their debt, like what Scott Walker has done for Wisconsin. Not interested?? Oh well, then I guess then your only choice is to go get out on the streets with the Oakland Occupier’s and protest against the fact that the fat cats in the banks and hedge fund corporations are still giving their employees millions of dollars worth of raises and bonuses.
Why don’t you go ask Obama to see if he can take all the state employees resume’s and see if he can find ya’ll a job somewhere? Who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky!
WillofLa commented:
You know, I’ve never seen a state go bankrupt. What does it look like? Millions of state employees out of work? Kinda like when New York City gargage workers went on strike? And all the garbage piled up everywhere? Well, as far as all the illegal Mexican aliens who you let into your state without obeying the Federal immigration laws, and then embarked on trying to take what little money there was in taxes attempted to take care of them all. But you learned real fast that it takes billions of dollars taking care of people who don’t contribute to the system in paying taxes. YOU GO BROKE!!!
Now will you deport all those Mexican’s who we can’t afford to take care of, with free education, medical treatment, transportation, and taking jobs from American citizen’s and the state police and other law enforcement authorities not lifting a finger to arrest and deport all of them that were costing Californian’s billions of dollars a year in taxes that was supposed to go taking care of Californian’s instead. You bunch of dumb *sses!!
Have you liberals who care so much for the “less fortunate” and your damn multiculturalism, learned anything by now? How about trading oil for aliens? How about asking Mexico to ship you oil in the same cost amount that you are spending to take care of all their people for them? You bunch of idiot liberals!! When are you going to abandone all this “we’re citizen’s of the world” crap??? You are not being paid by the world to take care of all those refugee’s are you? YOU CAN’T KEEP THIS UP FOREVER, FOR FREE AND NOT EVENTUALLY GO BROKE!!!!!
So much for Obama and his support for giving Napalitano and Sen. Durbin the okay to allow so many illegal Mexican’s because they haven’t committed any crimes. REALLY!!!! They are here in this country illegally aren’t they??? Doesn’t that make them criminals already???? Then they have committed crimes, haven’t they? So none of them can stay according to the Dream Act, huh??

This is a great post outlining and highlighting the bankruptcy and lunacy of Progressivism.
The Liberal Democrat-ridden California legislature wakes up – from their medical marijuana induced stupor — to discover that in a few weeks the state will be broke on account of their compulsive irresponsible spending. Their options are few to nil. Their main option would ordinarily involve cutting back on some services. Cutting back on public safety is their natural favorite because it insults the electorate — you know, the swine who tend to think that the government should serve them – and protects the public “service” unions. The problem is that they evidently got into this situation because Liberal autocrats in black judicial robes have rejected the Liberal Democrat legislators’ earlier attempts to cut back on their own wasteful spending.
And who put those Liberal autocrats in judicial positions in the first place? The same pot-smoking addled-brain liberal progressive legislators who created the fiscal nightmare.
Talk about stewing in your own juices!
Hey, California, have you ever heard the adage: You get the kind of government you deserve? Think about it, if you still can, you potheads.
The California State government: Of the unions, for the unions, and by the unions!
And you folks in Wisconsin: If you vote out Scott Walker, you will surely deserve the same fate.
Voice of Reason commented:
The Golden State is now the Brown State. CA has both a sales tax and income tax, but also has Prop 13 (thank goodness), which the Dems detest. But now Brown wants to increase the sales tax and jack up the state income tax on high income earners. As you probably know, the income tax caps out at 9.3% for those making ~ $100k+. FAIR estimates the state spends $20 billion per year on illegal immigrant. That’s where the money goes, along with the costs of public employee pensions plus handouts to millions of other freeloaders. The Dems have gerrymandered the new redistricting commission so that they will end up with a supermajority, which will mean higher taxes and of course exemptions for unions and illegals. Bottom line: CA is screwed.
Another funny thing. CA Dems hate the electoral college and want CA’s electoral college votes to go to whoever get highest US popular vote. So who would CA’s electoral college votes gone to in 2004? GW Bush

Folks, progressives or new communists are never looking to balance the budget…Like union bosses, its all about taking.
