Perfect… Obama Leaves Event Promoting Clean Energy in Motorcade of 22 Gas Hogs (Video)

You’ve gotta love this…
Barack Obama left an clean energy event today in a motorcade of 22 fossil-fueled vehicles.
The Nevada Journal reported:

From the video: On January 26, 2012, President Obama visited a Las Vegas UPS plant. Stimulus subsidy for said UPS plant to purchase natural-gas-powered trucks: 5.6 million dollars. Stimulus subsidy for North Las Vegas green energy plant that laid off 200 workers yesterday: 5.9 million dollars. Using taxpayer dollars to leave an event promoting clean-energy vehicles in a motorcade of twenty-two fossil-fueled vehicles: Priceless.

Another company, ENERL, an Indiana-based energy storage co (is really a battery company for all those green cars) has filed for bankruptcy. They received all, or part, of $118.5M.
These “green” scams are nothing more than money laundering schemes. I wonder how much Zero got in kickbacks from all these places? If this green technology was so great, you couldn’t keep private investors away.

I’m fairly certain the President doesn’t personally choose the vehicles that make up his motorcade. There probably aren’t too many bulletproof, armor plated, Secret Service approved alternative energy powered vehicles in existence at the moment either. This is nitpicking.

He has stopped the rise of the oceans and healed the planet.
He has the whole world loving us again.
The whole world worships him. Blacks and latinos finally got their messiah .

I lived in California where public entities were converting buses and other public vehicles to natural gas. Power plants were going all gas. We were told it was win-win. Clean environment, cheap alternative fuel.

Uh Oh. As is always the case with liberals, they failed to anticipate the law of supply and demand. Where natural gas had, indeed, been a cheap alternative, the increased demand drove the price up and up and up. Gas prices are up 88% since 1990. Next time you’re in Lowe’s or Sears notice that there are no longer any gas dryers on the showroom floor. There
is no longer any demand for them….gas has gotten too expensive.

Oh, and all those nat-gas vehicles. Note that they’re no longer around. Their cost saving projections didn’t pan out. And the pols want to go down the exact same path once again….just twenty years later.

The Presidential motorcade is unique, and would be incredibly expensive to retrofit versus the benefit in reduced emissions. The same pundit would be pounding on government inefficiency if the motorcade *had* been using alternative fuels.

Fundamentally, however, it is the height of hypocrisy for the opponents of the president, many of whom allude to violence (“Lock and load!”) and not-so-subtle racism, to knock on the President’s security detail. Have they *no* shame?

Most of those vehicles were Gov Motors. Also have you noticed most new Gov vehicles Federal State and local are Gov Motors vehicles. If you watched the hearings on the Volt fires a few days ago there is no other conclusion than the GOV. had influence over that investigation.

How many Air Force airplanes and how many vehicles are involved in getting Obama and his entourage to every place that Obama makes and appearance? It seems that caravans of 20+ to 40+ vehicles is a common occurrence. We taxpayers have the right to know how much each of his forays are really costing us.

Paddy asks the right question. And in reply to “shard” (#5) it’s absolutely not nitpicking. This president and his advisors act before they think. The amount of fuel burned by 22-car motorcade is the tip of the iceberg in this charade. Airlift requirements related to presidential travel are enormous in terms of both cost and carbon footprint: more than likely a minimum of two C-17s from Andrews AFB to the western US + “Air Force One” + a back-up to “Air Force One = a lot of jet fuel. It’ll be years before the aforementioned UPS plant will generate a carbon savings sufficient to offset the emissions associated with BHO’s junket on Jan 26. The best thing this president can do for the environment is stay home!
