Wrap it up.

Two days after the first votes were cast in Iowa, Senator John McCain told reporters this morning the GOP should wrap things up and settle on Romney.
AP via Townhall reported:

Just two days after the first votes in the race to pick a Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain says it’s time to wrap things up.

McCain, who endorsed Mitt Romney to be the GOP nominee a day earlier, says Republicans need to “get this thing done with as quickly as possible and get into the main event.”

The Arizona senator, speaking Thursday on CBS’ “The Early Show,” says Republicans need to focus on beating President Barack Obama.

  1. McCain is a major player in the elitist rino Eastern establishment. The R behind his name stands for reprobate.

  2. Did Meghan tell him to say that??

  3. I will laugh when McVain winds up in a GTMO retention facility.

  4. Anybody recall McCain saying the same thing two days after the 2008 Iowa Caucuses?

You know, when he finished 4th?

    Me, neither.

  5. McCain is a castrated donkey Manchurian goat.

  6. This old fossil obviously has taken one two many hits to the head at the Hanoi Hilton.

No…on second thought, he didn’t take enough hits to the head. Thanks, Viet Cong. Thanks, a lot.

  7. What a twerp!

  8. tweedle dee and tweedle dum (Mitt and McCain)

  9. Funny thing about that. I guess McCain forgot about this earlier ad of his:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=IS33Hkgnls4

  10. McCain is a communist robot, he was brainwashed and broken in Vietnam and is now a true Manchurian Candidate. What a TURD! Someone please build a Dang fence around that RINO!

  11. McCain lost to Obama, and Romney lost to McCain. Two losers.

“We have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.” –John McCain

  12. Yes, let’s just give the nomination to Mittie. That way we’ll have TWO democrats running for president. We can then just flip a coin to see which of satan’ s servants we will vote for….

  13. Check out McCain’s 2008 anti-Romney ad at # 9 above, that very devastatingly highlighted Romney’s multiple flip-flops on abortion, gun rights, etc.

  14. I’ve been thinking that for a while, since it would be nice to have competence at the wheel, and fast. But I think things will clear up for the confused soon enough.

  15. Gingrich wishes he were as conservative as Mitt.

  16. Who cares what McCain says.

  17. and WHY should ANYONE listen to McCain?

  18. Just who the heck is McCain, oh yeah the guy who stopped Palin from being elected VP, the guy who caves like a hole in the sand. The guy who is, on a VERY good day, a RINO with a Left wing daughter.

  19. MIDDLE- FINGER SALUTE TO YOU ………MCCAIN……………….just sayin

  20. jimg, spot on, was coming in to say the exact same thing!

  21. This is because he has already advised Romney on how to LOSE the presidential election.

You wait, we’ll see (if he’s the nominee) Romney do the same as McLoser, not point out any of Obama’s failings, play the nice guy LOSER, go along to get along, all while Obama’s surrogates in the media destroy his character, and Obama smiles.

  22. No, let the process keep going. I enjoy watching Newt Pampers Gingrich self destruct and Perry run interference for Romney.

I also enjoy watching the anti-Romney crowd go nuts.

Don’t worry folks. There will be plenty of room in the Romney tent when he wraps this thing up. You’re all welcome in. If you decline, you are helping Obama.

  23. McCain did not impress me at all vs. Obama. I hold McCain’s lack of effort regarding the 2008 campaign as solely responsible for the mess that Obama has been allowed to create. If I end up being a Romney supporter, it will NOT be because McCain endorsed him. In fact, I have to question Romney’s presidential potential simply because McCain endorses him!

  24. mccain says wrap it up.

    I say to mccain, STFU,

  25. Let me translate Mc Cain’s statement for you all.
“Santorum, Bachman, Paul, Perry, and even you Huntsman, give it up. The party hierarchy has already decided who the nominee is going to be.
On second thought don’t give it up too soon, let’s not make this obvious. We still have to convince the suckers in the rank and file that they have a voice in this process.
Please don’t throw the fight until the eleventh round.

  26. Yeah, just like you wrapped it up with ribbons and handed the presidency to Barack HUSSEIN Obama, you bumbling old fool.

  27. Having McCain endorse you can’t be a good thing. Losers united.

  28. I must confess, I voted for McCain in 2008 but Romney was probably my 1st choice. I was, at the time, newly returning to the Republicans from a few years on the dark side. I admired McCain for his service to our country (still do). Now I’m like a born-again or recovering addict….have swung way far the other way. Full Right steam ahead! Watching Mitt and McCain sitting there, giving an interview after the endorsement was painful; the body language and other non-verbal queues betrayed everything they said. McCain saying ‘lets get on with it’ reminds me of the BHO election committee wanting to move-up the inauguration so BHO could get to work healing all things wrong…

    Rick Santorum 2012

  29. Who cares what you have to say, McCain. Wonder if some internal polling does not bode well for ultra-RINO Mittens.

  30. McCain is a worthless two-faced, loser. The man is in the Senate for himself, not for his constituents. He fought like fury for the Republican nomination, then dropped his pants, bent over and grabbed his ankles for Obama, rather than actually fighting for the Presidency, all to show everyone that he wasn’t racially biased. He gagged and tied Sarah Palin when she was willing to tear into The Won, thereby insuring that Obama would win. And he assured us that we had nothing to fear from Obama. I think he would say the same now.

When he ran for Senator in 2010 he knew he couldn’t win unless he pretended to be a Conservative, so he did, but once he had the nomination he went back to RINO at once.
He called Conservatives foolish Hobbits when we dared to dispute the judgment of the Republican leadership. His opinion of voters is fairly obvious. To him, we are stupid, senseless and beneath contempt.

This guy’s judgment when it comes to presidential elections is doubtful at the very least. His devotion to the country is more than doubtful. His devotion to himself is beyond doubt.

If Conservatives are dumb enough to listen to him again, they deserve what they get.

  31. Please go away John…and take your skanky daughter with you.

  32. Well I guess we know where the establishments stand….

  33. McCain, Romney, the vast bulk of the 168 members of the Rep Natl Comm can just go shove it.

  34. Hate McCain…my inclination is to vote for anyone other than McCain endorsement.

  35. The Dems have settled on Mitt, too. Now how will he respond to this ad is the question:

    http://nation.foxnews.com/mitt-romney/2012/01/04/romney-tax-returns-become-problem

  36. I really wish McCain had stayed away from this – he is so toxic to conservatives

  37. I’m much more interested in Steve Forbes and Bobby Jindal who have endorsed Rick Perry. Then again, if the religious right had voted been behind Huckabee four years ago, we wouldn’t be talking about this today. And, yes, I will probably hold that grudge forever. Suck it up.

  38. Don’t you know that Romney cried when he found out what McCain was going to do?

I felt sorry for him. Too cruel.

  39. McTurd angling for a VP slot?????

  40. Just like they settled for McLame!

Does anyone even listen to Johnny anymore. The guy needs to retire.

  41. McCain should be just like Obama endorsing a candidate. Remember when Obama was out endorsing Democrat candidates and every time he did they would loose? Then if anyone knows McCain like I do, then McCain’s endorsement of Romney should be the death nell for Romney.

Then a vote for Romney is a vote for McCain!! A vote for Romney is like voting McCain into the office of the Presidency. A vote for Romney is a vote for another left leaning moderate just like McCain is. And a traitor on top of that. All this phoney baloney “hero” rating for McCain is as bogus as it can be, and I’m a combat vet and I can tell you that McCain is no damn hero. He’s a failed Air Force pilot and was kept in only because his dad is a Admiral, and that’s the truth. McCain would have washed out of pilots training after crashing two airplanes because he was a lousy pilot and didn’t know what he was doing. How he was able to land on an aircraft carrier I don’t know, but somehow he was able to do that. Probably a 4th cable pilot. They probably had to put the crash net up every time McCain was coming in, they just automatically did that anytime he was flying because they knew he would probably not make it after six tries. The guy is a dud. And the only reason why he was shot down over N. Vietnam was because he panicked and wasn’t able to follow procedure and get out of the way of the missle. And I don’t give a damn about his broken arms he suffered after he crashed, or how the N. Vietnamese tortured him with his arms broke. And I found out the truth about that to, and the N. Vietnamese only did that to him one time, 1 time! and he spilled his guts and became their friend after that and told them anything they wanted to know. I hate the guy. There were men who suffered a lot more than he did and they didn’t give up, but McCain was weak and should have been flying a desk in the Navy.

  42. Can we agree on something? STOP OBAMA!!!!

  43. McCain Says GOP Should Wrap Things Up & Settle On Romney

And to think, this idiot was the candidate in 2008.

But go ahead, people, by all means settle on Romney as your candidate. We’ll probably still go off the cliff, but only at fifty miles per hour, as opposed to Obie’s wide-open throttle approach.

    Feel better now?

  44. Maybe he’s hoping to settle for second spot on the Romney ticket…

  45. McCain seems to be delusional, thinking that his opinion matters to anyone at all. Not surprising, given the way he screwed up the 2008 campaign, lurching cluelessly from crisis to crisis, never knowing what his own positions were.

Go away, John. Seriously, just shut up and sit down. We’ve had far too much of your unbalanced personality in the past, and don’t need more of it now.

Mitt Romney should politely thank McCain, whisper in his ear not to stand too close, and then walk away.

  46. NO MORE RINOS

America didn’t want McCain-its-my-turn in 2008 and America does NOT want Mittens-damnit-is-it-my-turn-now

SANTORUM 2012 (…or Gingrich or Perry… I’m still open to them but Santorum rapidly becoming a favorite for me with every video I watch of his!)….

  47. Who cares what Juan McTaco says

  48. Has it occurred to anyone that McCain is doing this IN ORDER TO DISCREDIT ROMNEY?

McCain still obeys his communist handlers.

I know this sounds off the wall to many readers.

  49. I think this is the Republican party giving us the middle finger. They know we got no where to go BUT we can stay HOME!

  50. The race is still flip-flopper, RINO, liberal Romney vs. Champion of the Constitution, Dr. Ron Paul.

Santorum only got votes from the religious freaks in Iowa. The North East hates religious folks.

  51. The point is, it is well known that the conservative Right despises, I mean DESPISES, McCain, so what better way than to have him endorse the candidate they never want to see gain the nomination? This is guaranteed to piss off the Right and to make sure we don’t back Romney. Guilt by association.

McCain has absolutely NOTHING to say to the conservative Right, but he’s saying it.

What is Romney supposed to do–diss the senator from Arizona? Think about it. It’s the perfect setup.

  52. And I’m not the only one to know that McCain betrayed men and that the vets really hate him. Spent the rest of his life building a wall around himself of the poor POW . . . the truth is, McCain is controlled.

    Just sayin’.

  53. HERE’s a concise “laundry list” recipe to VICTORY over Obama in 2012.

GINGRICH can do this. SANTORUM just might. Romney?!? Phhhhht.

1.Every day, the U.S. government takes in $6 billion and spends $10 billion. This means that every day the federal government spends $4 billion more dollars than it has.
    2.The real unemployment rate is a jaw-dropping 11 percent.
3.Every fifth man you pass on your way to work is now out of work.
4.College graduates are now 34% less likely to find a job under Obama than they were under President George W. Bush.
5.Every seventh person you pass on the sidewalk now relies on food stamps.
6.The ravages of the Obama economy now mean that more Americans live under the federal poverty line than at any time in U.S. history since records have been kept.
7.Under President Barack Obama, every fifth child in America now lives in poverty.

In the last Senate race, just after the presidential elections, McCain spent $21 MILLION to defeat a Repub primary challenger who had war chest of only $3 million, and a CHUNK of that $21 million was leftovers from the presidential campaign – donated by Republicans to McCain expressly to defeat OBAMA (D), never meant to be used against a fellow GOP.

Remember McCain’s campaign all pissy about Palin wanting to campaign in MI and they told her they couldn’t because they were conserving funds? McCain’s rhetoric agaist Obama was polite and complementary. He called his GOP Senate challenger a pig.

McCain has earned the hard feelings.

  55. McCain PLEASE retire!

  56. I don’t buy conspiracy theories. McCain is a worthless RINO who thinks the base has some respect for his opinions. I think Rhonda is right in that this is the Republican Establishment giving the voters the middle finger. I would add that they also think we are too stupid to realize it.

I will vote for whomever winds up the Republican nominee because if Obama wins, which I think is a distinct possibility, the United States of America as we knew it, is gone, and Obama holds all the cards. McRINO, along with his Senatorial buddies, doesn’t see the danger that the rest of us do, and thus he pushes Romney because he “won’t alienate the Independents”.

Go away, McCain. Take your left wing daughter with you. I’m only sorry that the people of Arizona allowed themselves to be fooled into re-electing this loser over and over. They have done their country incalculable harm.

  57. Yes, I KNOW McCain has earned the bad feelings. That’s why we despise him. He deserves it. He’s a liar and a cheater,

Does anyone actually READ my posts? I mean, there are so many knee-jerk reactions.

WHAT I SAID WAS McCain is doing this in order to DEFEAT Romney. Not back Romney.

    Think outside the box people.

  58. Perhaps it has just dawned on McCain that Republicans would have been better off if we had Huckabee as the nominee instead of him.

Anyone want to drink to that? I’ll take a Evian, thank you.

  59. Nancy,

It’s not a “conspiracy theory.” I heard it myself from a large gathering of vets who served with McCain. Every time his name is mentioned, they all spit. His reputation is known to those in the loop.

The reason he keeps being elected is he can manipulate and work the social norms surrounding the “poor POW” schtick he’s been selling for years to cover for what he really did.

I am NOT a conspiracy type.

  60. You love Ron Paul’s domestic policy, but hate his foreign policy? Ron Paul was years ahead of everyone else on domestic policy…he was right all along. Maybe he’s years ahead of everyone on foreign policy as well.

What do these endless wars solve anyway? Can’t kill them all.

    Ron Paul 2012

PS. Nancy don’t post any more comments about gagging and tieing up Sarah Palin. Thank you.

  61. I know how the military feels about McRINO. My daughter is a Marine Staff Sergeant and my son is a Navy petty officer. They despise McCain, but no less than I do. I just don’t think the Republican Establishment has a very high opinion of our mental attainments.

They are determined to run the show without any of the voters intruding with our petty concerns. And they are solidly behind Romney, as far as I can tell.

I don’t believe they want to sabotage Romney, but I do think they are afflicted with ideological blinkers.

Mama Grizzly, I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree. I think any of the Republican candidates would be miles above Obama, but I prefer someone besides Romney. However, rest assured, if he wins the nom he will have my vote, as I said before. If we head toward that cliff at half speed instead of pedal-to-the-metal, Obama-style, it will at least give us more time to try to head off disaster.

  62. And Jack, I like Sarah Palin. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is a foreign policy nut. On the other hand, I would even vote for him over Obama.

  63. Okay, McCain makes me really angry. Who the h**l does he think he is?? He lost it for us last time around because he didn’t fight for us…for America! He is not credible to me any more.

  64. Its hard to tell a republican from democrat now days………….in Congress that is …………..Republicans in congress don’t want change ………..they don’t want someone who would change their way of business ………………thats why establishment is pushing so hard for Romney……….just sayin

  65. Soooooo, the guy who lost to Obama wants us to back the guy who lost to McCain. LMAO

Arizona Republican Assembly Votes Unanimously to Censure Senator McCain
    By Dennis Durband, Editor
    June 11, 2005

SCOTTSDALE — No, Donald Trump, U.S. Senator John McCain has not been fired. On Saturday, the Arizona Republican Assembly (ARA) voted unanimously during its annual state convention to censure Arizona’s senior senator.

McCain has seriously alienated his conservative base in the 21st century. However, he has greatly enamored himself with liberals and he easily won re-election in November with his new liberal support base. The conservatives who make up the ARA membership have had enough of what they consider a betrayal by McCain and they took advantage of their annual resolution ritual to take action against the liberal metamorphosis of the presidential hopeful.

    That is such bull.
I can’t believe as much as I hate McCain, you’re putting me in the position of defending him.
On the point of betrayal, it’s total bull.
When was the last time you had your arms pulled behind you to the breaking point and roped tight that way for hours while people take turns punching you in the face.
The military’s rules are simple on this point. Tell them what they want to know. Soldiers aren’t required to take endless beatings and torture to protect information.
Maybe in some fantasy army in your mind, but not in reality.
The fact is everybody has a pain and suffering threshold, and everybody talks eventually if tortured. Those who say they didn’t are liars. They talked. They sang. They signed documents incriminating themselves. They consented to be filmed calling America a guilty nation of war criminals, etc.
That doesn’t amount to betrayal. Everybody knows why these men broke and why they talked.
    Sorry you can’t get that.
Check out the movie Hanoi Hilton if you want a nice cleaned-up version of how the torture and confession sessions worked in Vietnam. That story was told by one of the actual prisoners there.

If you’re looking for a traitor, look at Jane Fonda who went to Hanoi on her own free will and handed over to the VietCong notes slipped to her by the prisoners who were forced to sit and watch her performance.

There’s a lot wrong with McCain. Betray us in Congress maybe. Betray us in Vietnam, not guilty.

NV, same to you regarding dingy harry.

  76. This is always the message with Romney. No questions. No answers. Just be a mindless lackey and obey your party masters.

  77. Republican establishment would love to just have a coronation process, and skip this messy primary process. They want to make it seem like Romney is inevitable so that people simply hand it to him. They’d rather this not go on too long because as it does we are going to see how poorly Romney is going to fair across the land. after NH its a whole new ballgame.

  78. Not to worry Romney won’t have McCain campaigning for him in South Carolina. I wonder why Romney thinks it is a good thing to have an endorsement from McCain.

  79. The fact McCain endorses Romney is not a good sign.

  80. No.

  81. There is an election this year coming up. McCain isn’t running for president. Thank God. As a person he seems wonderful but he really needs to give some of the others a chance like he had.

Shame on McCain. This in my opinion furthers likeability towards Romney. I do believe in helping someone who helped you but this time around, we can’t afford to lose.

When I saw McCain, Christie and Nikki Haley endorse Romney it sickened me. Things can change greatly before the Candidate is chosen, predicting the candidate is adolescent.

  82. Muck FcCain!

  83. correction:
This in my opinion furthers likeability towards Romney

  85. Well, f___ him and the horse he rode in on.

What, the other 49 states don’t count?????

  86. The truth of the happenings in Hotel Hanoi, will come out eventually. Look My self and many Nam vets Have always questioned the story from McCain. Some say he was seen drinking in bars in Hanoi. True? Who knows! One thought is that McCain was blackmailed into not attacking Obama in any personal way for fear of documents being released on what happened in Hanoi. Sound conspiritorial? Funny thing is almost every vet from that era that I know, or ever spoke to hates.

    1) Jane Fonda
    2) John Kerry
    3) John McCain. I for one hate McCain for his abandonment of the rumored pow’s still in Nam after the war. He and John Kerry chaired the committee, and dismissed the whole thing without so much as an investigation.

  87. Why were these two chosen to head the investigation to begin with?

  88. Reading these comments I understand how Obama was elected.

You Republicans are so divided. Democrats are always united.

I agree with McCain. Get this crap over with, and start the war to defeat Obama. He gets it, and all he gets in return from you lot is scorn.

The Dems see it as war. You “conservatives” better too. All I read here is whining and stupid conspiracy theories.

    Focus on the goal.

Why bother holding the November 2012 election then. Let’s just declare Barry King and have done with it. Makes as much sense as just handing Romney the nomination after one primary/caucus.

Well, yes, I read that. But after watching McCain in action, not so sure he’d do that. He comes off as mean, mean mean, and projects that real Conservatives are beneath him. He really does think Conservatives should shut up and get out of the way.

  92. McCain is nothing but a big government DONKEY just like the rest of the 99% of folks in DC.

  93. Rose 73

    No. You’re wrong.

How long do you thing you’d hold up under torture?
    I can tell you answer.
It would be seconds, not minutes.
These POWs endured it for days on end.
I don’t like to end an argument in name-calling, but you’re a fool if you think you’d have kept your mouth shut through days of torture.
    Nobody does.
    They all talk eventually.
    Torture works.
    It’s that simple.

  94. I agree with you Gary. But there’s a lot more going on regarding John McCain than you might think. Mind control and programming was VERY BIG at that time. The records on John McCain are fuzzy. And no other POWs around the shed light on the issue, and John becomes a senator and hands (and I mean HANDS) the election to Obama.

The issue is not that torture doesn’t make people talk.

The issue is what REALLY happened to John McCain, and why have all the records gone dark? Also, why do the men who served WITH HIM PERSONALLY hate him? Usually men have some admiration for their COs and totally understand the effects of Asian torture. They wouldn’t fault him for that so much.

It would be something else . . .
