The Fruits of Liberal Policy–

(Illinois Policy Institute)
A stunning new report by the Illinois Policy Institute revealed how Illinois lost one resident every 10 minutes during the past fifteen years. “These individuals are voting with their feet and moving to states where the tax burden is lower, where homes are more affordable, and where labor’s grip isn’t strangling the economy.” As Illinois lost residents to migration the state also lost out on a net of $26 billion in taxable income to out-migration from 1995 to 2010.

But Democrat pols don’t worry as long as the non-working, untaxed voters don’t leave–and a lot of them are permanently located in graveyards.
Larkin commented:
This illustrates why, even with deteriorating infrastructure and economies, places like Illinois is still a blue state.
The only ones left there are the hardcore lefties.
Sam Stone commented:
I know people in South Illinois and they HATE North Illinois.
They feel like outsiders in their home state doe to the urban/rural issues they face.
They say the governments eye is always on the north and never the rest of the state.
squeaky commented:
we know where a couple of them are and it would be nice to send them home.
donh commented:
If America continues to cower away from these sadistic fascists running our government, we will be North Korea …the unexplained utility black outs are already happening.
BarbaAZ commented:
Look out! They may be infiltrating your town with their cr@pola. I found out that the new editor of our local paper moved here to AZ recently from illinois. He left his job with a newspaper there. He actually told me he voted for obama because of the pressure of his job in Illinois. (!) Now our only local paper is more Liberal than ever, even praising a gay military couple with a big picture and story on the front page. The story quoted the couple as saying that gay marriage is such a “blessing!” This is a town with a large military base!! Unbelievable!!
Erik commented:
Keep your eyes out for State Bailout and “redistribution”. It will probably have a different name, but that will be the goal of it.
The blue states will claim that it’s unfair that other states get more revenue, and will push for those states to give up a lot of their revenue to help out the “unfortunate” states that keep loosing people. All in the name of “fairness”.
mamagriz68 commented:
Proud to say my family joined the migration in 2009. We moved to northwest Indiana (surprisingly to about the only Republican run town in the area). Unfortunately, husband’s job keeps him mostly in Chicago, so we still have to pay income tax, parking and tolls in IL (which continue to go up and up and up). The biggest plus for us is that we moved to a house that is twice as big, with property twice as large, and our property taxes are less. I would never go back to live in IL, and actually don’t even like driving back over the border.

Would be interesting to see comparable numbers for California and New York. Some more liberal hellholes.
Zim commented:
Living here in east central Illinois I would say it would help to get rid of Chicago and the democrats who have been running state. In the last election the republican running for Governor won every county in the state but 4. Three Chicago counties and one down by east St. Louis. The democrat won. Pat Quinn is a disaster and it will only get worse for us.
beaglescout commented:
How long has Illinois been a single-party state ruled by the Workers’ World International Democratic Socialist Party?
donh commented:
CT has lost a congressional representastive as has Massachusettes. ZERO jobs created in the last 15 years since the income tax passed….yet the political class lives quite well. 3 day 10:00-3:00 work weeks, retirement at 55 , cadillac pension plans….Pyong Yang style make work projects lining the pockets of mafia Bonanno crime family network of cement companies . State troopers babby sitting every work site…illegal aliens holding the stop and go signs. Hard to find a cup of coffee anywhere under $1.50.
Kissmygrits commented:
Careful, they might institute a state line tax and make you pay to get out.
usamopatriot commented:
My job involves a lot of traveling, so anytime I pass through IL I will always only stop at a rest area and leave my regards.
daryl commented:
Hopefully the Illinois population will increase by five after the upcoming election.
chemman commented:
How long before these blue states pass a law that requires you to obtain an extremely expensive permit to migrate. Given that SCoTUS has upheld the dubious Kelo takings and bond holder haircuts I wouldn’t count on them interfering.

Read those two stories and you see one of the secondary reasons that people are fleeing the state and especially Chicago.

#12. “it would help to get rid of Chicago and the democrats who have been running = ruining the state.”
If my wife and I can sell our house, add our numbers to the exodus.
Scott commented:
My family is moving from Bloomington IL in March, to Indy… and my sister’s family is escaping the Chicago suburbs, as well as the new socialist US, for Panama next month, where her husband will begin investing and building wealth again. You can bet they won’t be bringing their riches back to the US. I can’t tell you how many people I know who have left this state in the last 3-5 years, but it’s a lot.
These liberal idiots are in denial. Once all of the people who, you know, work for a living, are gone, who’s going to pay the bills? Oh yeah… they’re waiting for that Obama money (our money).
Bitter Clinger commented:
@Sam Stone; You are exactly right! I live in southern IL and have been trying to get out for years. My house won’t sell! Who wants to move INTO IL? I axe you? Nothing here but liberals and the parasites who hold them dear. Productive people (the tax base) is moving out ASAP.
WCFields commented:
I’m curious, who was quoted in the comment that people are moving because of the tax burden. I liven in Illinois, and I’ve seen many people that have moved because of the cold winters, but no one has ever mentioned the Illinois taxes when moving.
Old One commented:
California’s taxpayer flight has Illinois upped by a long shot. Last I saw reported the flight out was over 3,000 a week. I joinev the exodus this past June after nearly sixty years. At the moment Jerry the fairy & his minoins have twelve tax raising proposals headed for the ballot in November.
rollzone commented:
hello. in addition to those few people living in Illinois deciding to move away, the government uses Chicago as a hub for importing immigrants from around the world, with agency programs. look at it as the government front door for infiltrating socialists, Muslims, Arabs, and communists: and distributing them out into America.
Rob commented:
I live in the hell-hole that is IL. I can’t wait to get out of here and breathe some free Missouri air in the spring. I can’t wait to watch from the outside as IL implodes. It’ll be a beautiful sight to me.
Sorry to Live in Illinois commented:
There are 102 counties in Illinois and 101 of them have no bearing on statewide and national elections.
In the 2010 Governor Election, Pat Quinn won just FOUR counties (and one newspaper said he won “the four worst counties.” ie, heavy union and welfare) and lost in 98….and won the election.
Us downstaters have zero representation in Springfield and very little in Washington (thank you John Shimkus).
It’s time to split our state. Chicago would make a great 51st state, don’t you think?
burt commented:
There is Crook County, and then there is the rest of the state. I feel sorry for the people in the rest of the state. If they are smart, they will all leave.
JCraig commented:
All these Obama states should have walls built around them so they can keep their illness contained. In a few years they’ll all be eating each other. They don’t deserve the chance to live in a free state. Let them suffer in the oppressiveness they have created.
tommy mc donnell commented:
i’ll bet each person that left was replaced by two colonists brought there by the liberal politicans.
paul52 commented:
Illinois folks come up here to NE Wisconsin in droves every summer and spend beaucoup $$$. Some are finding out that it’s not so bad here (except for wacko Madison) and relocate here. How many ex-Illinois governors have been jailed in the last 50 years? Besides most of them! I could not be paid enough to live in Chicago.
dunce commented:
There are two kinds of people leaving the state. First there are people productively employed in the private sector, second there are retired Govt. employees that do no want to pay high taxes like the ones they have been living off for most of there lives. The state will continue to pay their pensions. The private sector producers will continue to produce in another state and pay taxes there. Illinois tax revenue will continue to drop but their pension obligations will grow. Chicago will be the next Detroit.
Coasta commented:
Please please report the same type of statistics for Michigan! There are a few left to turn out the lights, just curious what the stats are.
LarryG commented:
I don’t have the link handy but I read recently that Illinois is home to the top three cities for homicides. Sweet. Not too long back I was having a beer in Portland, OR near the airport and some guy at the bar said something about being in town and he went on to say he was from Illinois and I jokingly said “far from” and he was just a complete prick about the whole thing – nobody spoke to him after that. Had a bartender in that same bar who claimed to be from Peoria although I have reason to believe it was East St. Louis who was an Olympic caliber bitch. She subsequently got fired for leaning on a customer for a bigger tip. Hope they’re not typical.
RedBeard commented:
We used to live in the Chicagoland suburbs when I was a kid. The Chicago political scene was awful way back then, and no one thought it could get worse. They were wrong.
In the old days the Chicago political machine was wildly corrupt. Now, it’s wildly corrupt and insanely left-wing.
A few good things need to be rescued from Chicago (the museums, galleries, musical venues, theaters, fine restaurants, etc.) and then an eathquake needs to take the rest of the stinking garbage dump to the bottom of Lake Michigan. With any luck, this seismic event would eliminate both the crooked leftie politicians and the morons who keep electing them.
Downstate Illinois residents would probably organize a year-long celebration in honor of their new-found freedom.
Harpergang commented:
Yes, we were one of the familes that left Illinois and moved to Tennessee.
RS commented:
The humans left in Illinois need to step up the pace if they expect to get out before the implosion.
But then again, I am sure Obama’s plan for high speed rail from Chicago to Detroit (via Gary!) will improve things.
Oh yeah.
Steve Sanderson commented:
We moved from Champaign, Illinois to South Carolina four years ago, but I think my votes will be cast for me in Chicago for many years to come. At least Blago has a secure retirement plan for the next 14 years!
Evan from Indy commented:
Scott Welcome to Indianapolis! I am a proud resident of Indy the fastest growing region in the midwest and let me say we have quite a few people from Illinois thank god none of them are part of the corruption Machine
Youll enjoy it here in Indy proud home to Super Bowl 46
