In a Newsweek Magazine interview, Joe Biden sets the record straight: The Taliban are not our enemy.
Really! So in other words, Joe, we’ve simply been chasing our tail all these years?
Joe, I’m guessing that if dead US soldiers could talk, and if you actually asked US soldiers wounded in Afghanistan and living, you might hear something different.

He has a point to the extent that the Taliban are mostly local warlords, whose internecine squabbles freed up a lawless area where Al Qaeda could hide. They would not have been a problem for us if Al Qaeda had not moved in.
That said, they surely are our enemies now, of the type that we would eventually want to incorporate within the ambit of a peaceful society in Afghanistan. Otherwise, we’ll leave and the roaches will be back.
I suspect that fully half of Joe’s “gaffes” have to do with his efforts to accommodate the nonsensical sophisms of his boss. Why should anybody say the Taliban is not the enemy? Because that’s what BO wants. If the resulting comments sound awkward, it’s because you have to twist the meanings of words into pretzels in order to align with what passes for BO’s thinking.

There still is no “Afghanistan”. There is a bit of real estate inhabited by a bunch of stoneage tribal jerks that refuse to come into the present.
The country is actually rich in natural resources, but as usual with a craphole like this, no one wants to finance anything there because there is not now, nor will there ever be peace there. It wouldn’t be bad if we just turned a blind eye and bought the resources from whoever mines them and let them kill each other off in truckload numbers, but then you get the “blood diamond” silliness going. They still kill each other, but they starve while doing it.

I guess Biden has just revoked the 2001 joint Congressional Authorization for the Use of Military Force, against the Taliban, etc…on the grounds that The Taliban is not The Taliban:

To authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent [2001] attacks launched against the United States.
Of course, since Libya had nothing to do with 9/11, Obama’s action there is ok.
