This was funny because of the timing. However, as someone who works as a TV anchor and reporter, I’m wondering if this was something else. Was she giving the bird to the director or producer for something that was just said in her earpiece… or to a camera operator who was trying to make her laugh or something? She did this right before the video rolled; therefore, she may have thought that the video was already rolling, that she was “off camera,” and that this little gesture was only seen by the newscast crew. I made some goofy facial expressions at my floor director a few weeks ago during a live news show when I thought video was still rolling… but it wasn’t. Oops.
In any case, the timing on this Russian newscast surely resonates, doesn’t it?
