Bill Maher Wants Romney to Win to “Stop the Rise of the Apes” (Referring to Herman Cain)

Bill Maher told George Stephanopoulos he hopes Mitt Romney will win to “stop the rise of the apes.”
This was after he was just talking about Herman Cain.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But, he kinda hangs in there. He’s everyone’s second choice.
MAHER: I’m rooting for him. You know? Because, look, in a country with only two parties, the Republican can always win. I mean, at least he eats with a knife and fork. I mean, he is all that stands between us and the rise of the apes.

I just want to see those rules die, as they will have to everntually, though if left to limp along they’ll take everything else down with them – just like pretty much every liberal idea. I take something completely from this statement and that is why would we want our candidate to be someone who is endorsed by Bill Maher? He knows he is as close to a liberal as they are going to get from the lot of Republican candidates.

Stephanopoulos isn’t much better. Remember his interview of Obama? Obama talked about his “Muslim faith” and instead of asking Obama about that revelation, Stephanopoulos corrected him interjecting “Christian faith”.

The big question is why someone in the position of Stephanopolous would even interview Bill Maher. Bill Maher is a shock artist – the only way he can keep his job, keep his show is to push the envelope further and further. The fact than any network would showcase this fake is telling.

First, who cares what Maher says?
But second, and more important, we don’t pick our candidates based on the criticisms from the left, nor do we pick them based on the left’s praise or endorsement.
If a lefty’s endorsement were all it took to eliminate one of our candidates, they’d just have several uberleftists endorse each of our candidates. Then what?
Also I agree with #16 Highlander.
Maher wasn’t referring to Cain with the ape thing, or if he was, it was meant to be veiled enough for plausible deniability. That was a characterization of mouth-breathing bible and gun-clinging flyover country.
That said, he is still easily in the top 10 most despicable people in this country, and a moral coward.
