Bill Maher Wants Romney to Win to “Stop the Rise of the Apes” (Referring to Herman Cain)

Bill Maher told George Stephanopoulos he hopes Mitt Romney will win to “stop the rise of the apes.”
This was after he was just talking about Herman Cain.
NewsBusters reported via Conservative Guild:

It’s OK. He’s a democrat.

Transcript via NewsBusters:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Yet, he’s, he’s still leading the field. Still is. I mean, he’s starting to fall just a little, but still leading the field.

MAHER: But, that’s just because they hate Mitt Romney.

STEPHANOPOULOS: They do.

MAHER: You have got to feel bad for Mitt Romney. I mean, he’s been led, so far, by Trump, then Bachmann. Then Perry. Then Cain.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But, he kinda hangs in there. He’s everyone’s second choice.

MAHER: I’m rooting for him. You know? Because, look, in a country with only two parties, the Republican can always win. I mean, at least he eats with a knife and fork. I mean, he is all that stands between us and the rise of the apes.

Wow. Imagine if during the 2008 dem primary, any conservative had made a statement like that. Since he’s a lib, never mind.

  • progressoverpeace

Meh. I don’t like to press stupid liberal rules against liberals. I just want to see those rules die, as they will have to everntually, though if left to limp along they’ll take everything else down with them – just like pretty much every liberal idea. There’s nothing wrong with comparing anyone to apes. I mean, come on. Maher doesn’t even rise to the evolutionary level of apes, himself.

I sure hope that comment wasn’t specific to Herman Cain. We already know how repugnant Maher is.

  • Gerry

In Mahers world Obama is only 1/2 ape. In my world, his other half comes from a commy slut.

Apes ? As in apes that poop and pee in public and don’t even wipe ?
Or the apes that are infested with lice and hump on sidewalks ?
Because they all seem to be endorsed by the half ape and his c ookie

What a hate-filled, abominable statement! MUCH worse than “nappy headed hos”! He IS going to be taken off-air permanently for this, right?

  • grassfarmer

Bill Maher is definitely a taxidermist……..someone who mounts animals!

  • I take something completely from this statement and that is why would we want our candidate to be someone who is endorsed by Bill Maher? He knows he is as close to a liberal as they are going to get from the lot of Republican candidates.

  • StrangernFiction

Do they have musty wet pelts?

Bill Maher looks like the albino monkey and he s*ck his own d*ck,too

  • Kermit

Bill Maher needs to donate his brain to science – stat.

  • Clutch

Kermit, that useless necrophiliac pedophile doesn’t have a brain, just a drug and syphilis-rotted fetid pudding that sloshes around in a misshapen tiny cranium. I think I hate this wretched excuse of life more than Michael Mooron…

  • American Woman

Bill Maher is to be pitied. He is a sick little man with an inflated ego, a deeply flawed human being.

Stephanopoulos isn’t much better. Remember his interview of Obama? Obama talked about his “Muslim faith” and instead of asking Obama about that revelation, Stephanopoulos corrected him interjecting “Christian faith”.

Why do Americans have to suffer these fools?

  • Frances

So Bill, is your President an APE???? WTF!!!

  • Highlander

In my opinion, the ape reference is to real conservatives and not just Herman Cain. Regardless, Maher is a vile, hateful, and deeply prejudiced man.

Nonetheless it needs to be turned over to the closest academic institution before midnight tonight. If the incinerate it as medical waste, so be it.

    And the NAACP responds how?

And how many hyper-sensitive MSNBC defenders against racism denounce this extreme racist slur?

Start your timers and mark your calendars.

Of COURSE the libs want Romney.

In the infinitesimal chance that their guy loses, they STILL end up with a dem in the oval office.

  • The big question is why someone in the position of Stephanopolous would even interview Bill Maher. Bill Maher is a shock artist – the only way he can keep his job, keep his show is to push the envelope further and further. The fact than any network would showcase this fake is telling.

  • gee i wonder what hillary is going to say about this mean-spirited, insensitive remark. i don’t think the self-esteem of the republican candidates can recover fom such an unkind remark. i wonder if when obama said we needed more civility in political discourse he had maher in mind?

  • Mike Bell

The apes? lol. Maher is such a clown. Want to see the rise of the apes, Bill? Take a look at the OWS occupations.

  • Joanne

Gee if Maher endorses Romney, then Romney mustn’t be the best choice for Republicans. Maher is a huge creep.

  • Bob R.

Notice there’s no one around to challenge his views. Can’t have their boy exposed for the ignorant moron he is by someone like George Will, Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, etc.

  • I must wonder…did Romney do a *facepalm* when he found out Maher is endorsing his candidacy? Hmmm.

So interesting the commentary. On the left, most commentary goes without comment. On the right, every statement is picked apart and twised in unimaginable ways to make a convoluted point. And covered for days.

Jesse, Al , Juan- anybody wish to comment on the offensive nature of the comment? Didn’t think so…

  • Gary

    Come on.
First, who cares what Maher says?

But second, and more important, we don’t pick our candidates based on the criticisms from the left, nor do we pick them based on the left’s praise or endorsement.

If a lefty’s endorsement were all it took to eliminate one of our candidates, they’d just have several uberleftists endorse each of our candidates. Then what?

Also I agree with #16 Highlander.
Maher wasn’t referring to Cain with the ape thing, or if he was, it was meant to be veiled enough for plausible deniability. That was a characterization of mouth-breathing bible and gun-clinging flyover country.
That said, he is still easily in the top 10 most despicable people in this country, and a moral coward.

Bill Maher talking about apes? That’s like Cheeta talking about Mighty Joe Young!

  • bobdog

Amusing little fellow. He’s about as funny as Al Franken and Rosie O’Donnell combined.

Are you trying to tell me that Maher studied animal husbandry in college,… and then got caught at it?
