On Fox and Friends this morning Hank Williams Jr. compared Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler.

CARLSON: All right. So, I’ll start with an easy question, who do you like in the GOP race?WILLIAMS: Nobody.
STEVE DOOCY (co-host): Nobody?
WILLIAMS: You remember the — you remember the golf game they had, ladies and gentlemen?
DOOCY: Yeah?
WILLIAMS: Remember the golf game?
DOOCY: Boehner?
WILLIAMS: That was one of the biggest political mistakes ever.
CO-HOSTS: Why?
WILLIAMS: That turned a lot of people off. You know, watching, you know, it just didn’t go over.
CARLSON: You mean when John Boehner played golf with President Obama?
WILLIAMS: Oh, yeah! Yeah. And Biden and Kasich, yeah. Uh-huh.
CARLSON: What did you not like about it? It seems to be a really pivotal moment for you.
WILLIAMS: Come on. Come on. It would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu, OK?
CARLSON: OK.
WILLIAMS: Not hardly. In the country this shape is in, the shape this country’s in, I mean, no, I don’t think so.
BRIAN KILMEADE (co-host): Yeah, I don’t understand that analogy, actually.
FOX and Friends apologized for Hank’s comments when they came back from a break – which is more than the left ever did when their supporters regularly compared Bush to Hitler.

Both Bush and Obie are nothing like Hitler. Anyone claiming so is an idiot and needs some history lessons. Hitler was a far more complex figure than both Bush and Obama counted together. He was by far the better speaker, and he actually had some quite significant talents (check his architecture ideas, the stuff is nuts, but brilliant.)

If he had said Daffey Duck and Elmer Fudd it wouldn’t have meant he was comparing anyone to Daffey or Elmer. He was obviously talking about the extreme differences in political personalities.
Besides, who’s to say that if Hank, Jr. was making a direct comparison, using his analogy, that Obama wouldn’t have been the Netanyahu character?

Well … there aren’t that many politicians that have ever held campaign rallies in Berlin. And, given that no American political candidate for the Oval Office has EVER held a campaign rally in a foreign nation … for foreigners (mostly because it’s illegal and repulsive and stupid), it would be difficult for one to not make the connection. Then there are all the similarities in style of dictatorship (or in Barky’s attempts, at least).
Our only saving grace is that the Indonesian Imbecile has an IQ hovering in the mid 80s. Otherwise, this nation would have been done and over, by now.

If you invite someone onto your program and ask for their opinion or viewpoint, you shouldn’t apologize for the comments. That’s insulting. I could understand a disclaimer along the lines of “That’s Hank’s view, not necessarily ours, so don’t go writing us letters.” That’s just a reminder that it’s an interview not an endorsement. But to apologize for someone else? What did they say, “We’re sorry, we shouldn’t have let him state his opinion even though we asked; free speech should only go so far?”

In my opinion it was an apt comparison. Who was it that wanted a civilian force larger and as well armed ( brown shirts) as the military. Who was it that asked “his” people to get in their faces? Who keeps saying that he wished he could just declare law without congress? All should either read up on pre war Germany and Hitler, how much difference do you think you’ll find?

I watched this and was made uneasy by the way Jr. was talking. He seemed to be impaired by something, imo. No one thinks less of dear leader than I, but Hitler analogies are rarely accurate and less rarely productive. Marx analogies, however, when talking about obama, are spot on.

There are some things that are so dark and sinister, that they deserve no redeaming credit whatsoever.
As far as his supposed brilliance, that to is for a fairy tale and little else. His military errors were many and large, especially having numerous experienced officers who he routinely disregarded (and subsequently had executed and/or forced to commit suicide).

I think Jr. nailed it on the head. Obama is a back-stabber, he played golf with Boehner and then goes and campaigns against Boehner’s policies in his own state. Obviously, as his little analogy points out, Netanyahu would never golf with Hitler, because Hitler was bent on the destruction of Netanyahu’s people. Likewise, if Obama is bent on the destruction of conservatives, constitutionalists and the American people in general, why should Boehner, a supposed representative of those groups, play golf with him? Of course, these days no one on the right can bring up Hitler at all, not even in analogies. Just hearing the name, regardless of context, causes everyone to hyperventilate.

I watched this live and thought “uh oh.. bad choice of words”. He didn’t really compare Obama to Hitler. He was essentially saying that two “enemies” don’t go golfing together. Poor example for sure, but not exactly comparing the two. He did call Obama the enemy, and if he hadn’t used the Hitler comparison, that would probably be the main focus now. He’s arrogant and mouthy, and they know that when they book someone like him. You got what you asked for. Unfortunately, he makes every conservative look bad when he says things like this.
