California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill today that bans tanning bed use by minors.
Reuters reported, via Free Republic:

Minors in the state of California will no longer be allowed to use tanning beds after Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill on Sunday prohibiting anyone under the age of 18 from using ultraviolet tanning devices.

California is the first state in the nation to ban minors from using tanning beds, legislators said.

Previously, California had banned minors under the age of 14 from using tanning beds, but allowed those between 14 and 18 years of age to use tanning beds with parental consent.

The bill was part of a cluster of legislation signed on Sunday designed to “improve the health and well-being of Calfornians,” according to a statement from the Governor’s office.

In 1997 a California court overturned a state law that required girls get the approval of a parent or judge before having an abortion.

  1. Will this ban apply to black kids too ?
    :P

  2. Well the Slave State of California needs someone to look out for them. Look who the morons keep voting into office.

  3. That’s ok California Will be known as the biggest city in Mexico before to long, and hopefully all the stars and celebrity’s will brush up on their Spanish so they can fit right in and make all their movies for Telemundo……Good Riddance LaLa land losers…..And don’t drink the water!!!!

  4. if your fourteen you can’t get a tan but you can get an abortion. liberal american values!

  5. What about medical tanning? Sometimes a psyche will be irreparably damaged without a tan.

    ++++
That is because getting an abortion is a Constitutional right for kids of all ages,
and tanning is something rich white kids do for fun

  7. All this is going to do is force kids into going to back alley tanning salons.

  8. Priorities, priorities, got to get those priorities in order. One takes a life and the other takes the white away, which do we go with?

  9. [[Gov. Jerry Brown has signed legislation that gives children 12 or older the right to obtain preventive treatment for sexually transmitted diseases without parental consent, including an HPV immunization for cervical cancer.]] Jerry’s been busy

  10. srhoades, I love it!!!!

  11. The mind set of the refugees from California is astounding. You ask them why they moved here to Arizona, and they are rather very knowing of the reasons. They say taxes to high, business’s have to many restrictions, spending all their money on illegals, silly laws shoved down their throats. All well and good, now you ask them who they are voting for in next election they say Demoncraps, to which I say, aren’t they the ones that did all you ran from? go fgigure.

  12. ALL elections in California are directed by the public sector labor union money. That money goes exclusively to Democrats as they are mindless stooges that will promote, and vote for anything as a pay off their labor union masters.

The largest public sector union is the teachers union. Teachers ALL have the desire to inflict their values and beliefs, including their marxist labor union tendencies, onto all of their students. To them, telling students what their lives should consist of when the teacher is not present is exactly what their fascist instincts tell them is proper. This is not about saving lives, it is about extending teacher union power to control the lives of the students.

  13. What can I say, it’s California. What could they possibly be thinking of next?

  14. What about illegal immigrant children? Will the state taxpayers pick up the tab for them to go to a tanning booth?

  15. This law should be struck down as racist on the doctrine of disparate impact. It is only concerned with the welfare of white minors.

  16. The bill was part of a cluster of legislation signed on Sunday designed to “improve the health and well-being of Calfornians,” according to a statement from the Governor’s office.

I guess that “not every human problem deserves a law” spiel by Jerry Brown was all BS then.

  17. Uhhhhh, there is a Nuclear Fusion tanning device overhead, so kids can’t play outside or go to the beach?
