In today’s Weekly Address President Obama argues that his latest stimulus jobs bill is for the kids, or the teachers …or something.
Only a GOP child-hater would not like it.
Via Breitbart TV:
The White House posted the transcript.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been making the case that we need to act now on the American Jobs Act, so we can put folks back to work and start building an economy that lasts into the future.
Education is an essential part of this economic agenda. It is an undeniable fact that countries who out-educate us today will out-compete us tomorrow. Businesses will hire wherever the highly-skilled, highly-trained workers are located.
But today, our students are sliding against their peers around the globe. Today, our kids trail too many other countries in math, science, and reading. As many as a quarter of our students aren’t even finishing high school. And we’ve fallen to 16th in the proportion of our young people with a college degree, even though we know that sixty percent of new jobs in the coming decade will require more than a high school diploma.
What this means is that if we’re serious about building an economy that lasts – an economy in which hard work pays off with the opportunity for solid middle class jobs – we had better be serious about education. We have to pick up our game and raise our standards.
As a nation, we have an obligation to make sure that all children have the resources they need to learn – quality schools, good teachers, the latest textbooks and the right technology. That’s why the jobs bill I sent to Congress would put tens of thousands of teachers back to work across the country, and modernize at least 35,000 schools. And Congress should pass that bill right now…

Government needs to STEP AWAY FROM THE EDUCATION OF OUR KIDS. Each State should be responsible and each state must participate in a CONTEST OF SORTS.
The higher the state scores the higher the HOPE AND CHANGE FOR OUR KIDS FUTURE. Gone are the days when a Teacher isn’t required Conference time one on one with a qualified and impartial evaluation.
WHEN THEY FAIL, THEY ARE GONE. Our children are the future and if government runs their education we will not only leave them in debt but we will have abandoned them and the growth of this nation.
Each State that scores High and the insensitive are the very best they will receive a Lottery of sorts. These lotteries will help with computers and science labs. Also, the highest scoring student gets a free college tuition of his or her choice.
Top 20 in the state will receive a substantial reduction in tuition.

Ok, start with making all educational expenses deductable from taxation. That would mean they never went through the DC meat-grinder where the corruption machine gtes its cut.
Patty commented:
We have failed our children dramatically. No one person has come up with a real clear solution. Those in Washington that is. Parents and Teachers in order to have their child pass must meet together, no ifs, and, or buts.
We must do something quickly and we must stop placing Politically measures on the Schools. The only pressures will be on the PARENT, TEACHER AND YES, THE STUDENT.
Pressure is a strong word but the more we instruct are kids to be successful with qualified Parent and teacher interaction the more our children will thrive.
NeoKong commented:
Oh yeah….he’s all about education.
That’s why he had a pedophile as a Safe School Czar and made the guy who oversaw one of the worst school districts in the country the Sec. of Ed.
That’s why he wants to gut the No Child Left Behind Act.
It’s for the kids.
Patty commented:
Obama the messiah cannot be serious about the education of our children. He sat in the Trinity Church for 20 years and his little girls listen to the hate and the racism.
He isn’t the best example of someone who needs to preach education.
WillofLa commented:
What angers me is that this crap that Obama is saying that the money will be for is always what liberals say the money will be used for, and it never is. And if it seems to go in that direction it never ends up in the hands of the teachers because the administrators get it and you never see it again after that. Then a short time later they ask for more, that the kids aren’t getting the education they’re supposed to be getting. Well, when will someone ask them, “What the hell did you do with all that money we sent you, the last time you got billions?” And I don’t want to see a bunch of cooked books because those are all lies. We have found out that Obama’s “stimulus” monies are ALL slush funds for his friends and supporters. I hate that!!
But what angers me more is the damn Republican’s know all about what they’re doing with the money and they won’t say a damn thing about it. I’m talking about blowing a big damn whistle on them, and name name’s to! That liar Boehner knows what Obama is doing with the money and he won’t tell the American people about it and expose Obama as the commie he is. I guess the Republican’s have all been threatened in some way that has always scared them so much that they kept their mouths shut and knew that the American people really needed to know about what was happening to their money, and just couldn’t bring themselves to take the chance that the Democrats wouldn’t make good on their threats. You know Pelosi, and Reid. Look what Reid did to John Vitter when he fought and won against Reid on Bush’s Amnesty bill. Reid got his friend Larry Flint to get the list of clients of the Washington Madame and told the world about the one damn time way back fifteen years ago when Vitter was a first time Senator and very young, and never saw glitter like that before, and was drawn into the temptations that exist in Washington, money, women, dope, booze, and God only knows what. But Reid did a number on Vitter. But also did you notice that Reid didn’t give out anymore names on the list? Only Vitter’s. But he was the only one Reid needed to try to destroy since Vitter fouled Reid’s efforts to give Bush what he wanted. It angered Bush to. Bush and the Democrats are one in the same.
Republican’s like Boehner need to go, because you see, the Tea Party conservatives don’t give in, and aren’t afraid to expose liberals for the lies and cheating they are doing to us. We need to back them as much as possible. But the only advantage the liberals have is they control the media. Maybe someone can get their hands on some of that money and start some TV networks and radio stations with it, and then we’ll have our own TV and radio we control. Other than firing these network producers and radio owners or take their licenses away from them for lieing so much and endangering the American people by not exposing Obama’s cooporation with the Muslims, there’s not much we can do.

Pres. Obama wants to put tens of thousands of teachers back to work. That means tens of thousands of union members back to work. It also means millions more of our dollars being laundered through the unions to the Democratic Party. The President never talks about putting back to work non union members. It is always the teachers, construction workers, the police and fire personnel. All are union members which only make up less than 15 % of the work force.

Not entirely – not by a very long shot. It is pretty hard to learn from someone who knows nothing to teach you know – and that is the case with a HUGE number of “education” majors. We have teachers that can barely pass basic skills tests themselves. You cannot teach reading if you are barely literate. You cannot teach algebra if you have to copy the answers out of the back of the book – and that is what MY child had for an algebra teacher a generation ago. At my university nearly 2 decades ago a full 25% of all education majors had to take Basic Reading 1 &2 and Basic Math 1 & 2 – which means that they came into college unable to function on a third grade level. Lest you think the situation has improved, the school of education at my daughter’s large university showed about the same 5 years ago.
Patty commented:
I have a friend who was pass on to the next grade. And no real help was available for him.
A little reading course but nothing on comprehension skills were available back then.
Many students have a real problem concentrating because of the word of the cell phone and texting.
I wonder how many public schools allow cell phones. They surely are turned off during classes.
With the age of computers the cheating level is way up! So, many have copies or can acquire them throught the internet or upper class men.
In some classrooms almost half your grade in just being in class. This is nonsense.
Many students are passing and haven’t even touch a book. Hope those who graduate have learn something especially the doctor who is operating on you.
Rock commented:
Short version, I need the schools to pump out more young Socialist, to keep the dream alive.
Patty commented:
A great education these days gives you a great job flipping burgers. Some of the youth today can’t find a job.
A great education is hard to find. It leans left. Besides the pitty poor educators I worry about what is a part of the class. The professor, in stead of teaching the class, tells his left leaning liberal stories and will their views be inflected on the student.
So, this is something that has to be addressed. Youth of any color is having a very tough job finding JOB. Why? because Obama has put so many regulations on businesses. Now, he has the guts to say we hate kids because he the liberal is asking for more money for a broken education system. REALLY?
This is one vicious circle and any way this administration sells it, education comes with great teachers and government getting it filthy hands off of it.
tommy mc donnell commented:
why do people still think the myth wants to create jobs. the only way our economy becomes vibrant again is if the people take their money back from the politicans. private citizens will spend the money on goods and services, that creates jobs. the politicans will use the money to pay people not to work, that creates votes.
jainphx commented:
Educate our children you say! What education? Time was that school was for the fundamentals, reading riting, and rithmatic, but that was decades ago, now its fitting condoms on bananas. Education was teaching our children of this great country and its founders, now they belittle the founders, and teach this country is the problem in the world. That’s just the education side!
Funding of our schools. We spend more per pupil, by a factor of four, then any other country, and yet we trail in actual education. We have layers and layers of “Supervisors” and yet parents must pay extra for their kids to play sports. Teachers have tenor even if incompetent, and most are teaching in other than their expertise. Every year they want more money to prevent “over crowding” the class rooms, but end up giving raises and outlandish health care and retirement benefits to their members on our taxes. I could go on and on but you all know the problems we impose on ourselves with our silence. How can you get the respect of your children if discipline is taken away from those same parents.
In the end the liberal ideology is PROVEN to be detrimental, and yet we sit and let it continue.
Billy Barty commented:
It needs to be said:
Obama has lost alot of weight in office, and has become an awkward bumbler who does bizarre things on a daily basis. Remember just wed that pic at the UN with him waiving? That incident would put most of us in a lifetime of counseling to get over being humiliated in front of the world. He does things like that on a DAILY basis. He bumbles from one stop to another.
I think he’s a drunk, and I also think he’s abusing anti anxiety meds like XANAX. Before a speech he probably washes a handful down with a 40 ounce. Probably other things too.. who knows. All I do know is he’s a stuttering fool who looks like a starving Ethiopian. Seriously, look at that pic above.
tommy mc donnell commented:
the biggest educational problem we face in america is the breakdown of the family. the groups that do the worst in school have the lowest percentage of homes with two parents in them. the groups that do the best in school have the highest percentage of homes with two parents in them. almost all teachers know this, they are just too afraid to say it.
the breakdown of the family, especially in inner-city america, is a result of the political strategy of people that obama was mentored by, the political left. the cloward-pivan strategy implemented with the aid of the civil rights leaders destroyed the black family during the period from 1960 to 1980. if the myth wants improved educational performance he needs to change his marxist views.
Rock commented:
Once the unions wrapped their greedy hands around the education system in this nation the end result was all but assured. Unions do nothing for the student other than insure that even the most ill equipped teacher will stay in the classroom no matter how poorly they perform.

Perfected democrat commented:
The problem with our education system isn’t the system or the teachers. The problem is with black, hispanic and white trash family culture. Asian immigrants, like other great immigrant groups in the early part of the twentieth century, are consistently top scholastic achievers and business entrepreneurs. The hip hop, gang banger and flash mob crowd need to pull up their pants, demonstrate serious respect for their teachers in the classroom, and starting reading books, on their own and in addition to formal schooling. Lowering testing standards for this group of people should be an embarrassment for this country. Bleeding heart progressive culture and media have deliberately manipulated the reality by spinning the honesty out of intellectual honesty, as well as the illegal out of illegal alien.
Incidentally, correct definitions from adversity.net:
“IMMIGRANT: In popular usage, an “immigrant” is generally understood to be a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence. Under this definition, therefore, an “immigrant” is an alien admitted to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident. The emphasis in this definition is upon the presumptions that (1) the immigrant followed U.S. laws and procedures in establishing residence in our country; (2) he or she wishes to reside here permanently; and (3) he or she swears allegiance to our country or at least solemnly affirms that he/she will observe and respect our laws and our Constitution.
ALIEN: By contrast, an “alien” is generally understood to be a foreigner — a person who comes from a foreign country — who does not owe allegiance to our country.
ILLEGAL ALIEN: An “illegal alien” is a foreigner who (1) does not owe allegiance to our country; and (2) who has violated our laws and customs in establishing residence in our country. He or she is therefore a criminal under applicable U.S. laws.
The term “illegal alien” is used by U.S. citizens who believe that non-citizens entering our country must comply with our immigration laws.
The term “illegal alien” is predicated upon U.S. immigration law which requires foreigners entering the U.S. to comply with our country’s rules and laws regarding entry into, and residence within, our country.
UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT: The term “undocumented immigrant” is an oxymoron (the parts conflict). An immigrant is synonymous with “permanent legal resident.” The old term for the document authorizing a permanent legal resident is “green card.” The term “undocumented” is derived from the accurate term “undocumented aliens” who are often called “border crossers.” Proper terms are “illegal alien” or “undocumented alien” but not “undocumented immigrant.” Although not commonly used, the term “documented alien” accurately refers to foreign nationals who have an unexpired non-immigrant visa such as H-1B.”

When my son got his first preliminary schedule for high school, I noticed that, contrary to my request, his high grades, and the forms (including letters of recommendation from his teachers! — that’s required, now!) he was put in the “average” classes. I was expecting this, so I took my tired tail down to the high school and asked about it.
Once the high school counselor found out my kid had come from a private school, she fell all over herself to put him in all advanced classes, where he did very well.
This was in a district that takes pride in being one of the “best” in the country. I thought that private school was merely normal. One would think that the “best” public schools in the country would be better than an ordinary private school.
Teaching children is not cutting-edge rocket science. We know how to do this. All it takes is to run the schools FOR THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATING THE SCHOOL CHILDREN!
*whew* sorry for shouting. Schools should not be run for the purpose of providing jobs for poor-quality union employees, or for giving vocal political minorities a platform.

Embedded in this bill is a TRILLION dollar infra-structure bank!
This is why the dems have not submitted the bill in congress. They absolutely do not want the CBO to score this bill! Even the highly partisan people at the CBO are going to have a tough time pretending the tax payer will not be on the hook for these ‘loans’.
Also notice that the new TRILLION dollar infrastructure bank has no accountability! It is to be created under a NEW CZAR position with NO CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT!
I happen to live in a place that just built a school that has no students! It was planned when there was supposed to be new housing. The housing boom ended yet they refused to stop funding the school construction. During the construction, there were demands for new funding for ‘general’ school repairs for the district! Now we have a new school with no students, and extra cash for repairs. So what did they do? They pushed through a bill to install solar panels at all the schools! Now people are wondering if they are going to put solar panels on the school with no students.
This is all WITH alledged accountability. Does anyone dare to guess where a TRILLION dollars of unaccountable spending will be going?
Obama’s crooked political bank bill is strictly for the theater of the absurd!
