Largest Free Flying Flag in the World Unveiled at Ground Zero Today (Video)

Largest free flying flag in world.
Normally the flag flies at the George Washington Bridge and only on special occasions.
This Giant American Flag was unveiled at ground zero today the day before the 10th Anniversary of the 9-11 attacks.

The choir just happened to be practicing as the flag was unveiled.

Thanks to George Lauer

Related… I took this photo at Art Hill tonight in Forest Park tonight in St. Louis.

KPLR reported:

Art Hill in Forest Park is going to be transformed this weekend into a moving memorial for the victims of the 9/11 attacks. Nearly three thousand American flags will adorn Art Hill, one flag for each victim killed in the attacks.

The memorial is called America’s Heartland Remembers.

The flags will all go into 10 foot poles that are anchored in the ground with steel. Each flag will have information about the victim it is representing.

“This is the safest the United States has ever been.”

This is of course pure propaganda, with the truth being much the opposite.

. . . America should get rid of Labor Day and
make 9/11 a national day of prayer and remembrance.

Besides it being the right thing to do (after all, How many folks are associated with a union anymore), it might also help stimulate the economy by extending summer one more week!

Here is the history of Labor Day for those that wish to know.

All First Responders & Families, Thank You

Thank You All Military Personnel & Families..

It Has Always Been The Soldier

    It is the soldier,
not the President who gives US Democracy.

    It is the soldier,
not the Congress who takes Care of US.

    It is the soldier,
not the Reporter who has given us Freedom of Press.

    It is the soldier,
not the Poet who has given us Freedom of Speech.

    It is the soldier,
not the campus [community] Organizer who
has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate.

    It is the soldier,
    who salutes the flag;
    who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
that allows the protester to burn the flag.

~ Father Dennis O’Brien, US Marine Corp. Chaplain

    God Bless America!

God Bless Soldiers everywhere for putting THEIR
lives on the line to protect us ALL from terrorism!

This year, it’s a tribute to those who have fought and died as a result of 9/11 in the WOT. It’s been a long war, but we are winning.

A friend of mine called up for a year after 9/11 said, we are safer than ever, there are things going on all over the world. That’s all she was allowed to say, but I believe her.

  • Alana

    They allowed it?

Sweet Mother of God, what has this Nation become.

  • Beachluver

Oh My!!!!!!!! The towel heads might be offended!!!! How did this get by Bloombat? You know…..if I were clergy or a first responder I would just SHOW UP at ground Zero and speak and pray and do whatever honorable thing you want. TTHIS IS AMERICA Who the $UC% is Bloomberg to say you can’t. Isn’t he the clown who fought so hard far a Mosque on that sacred ground? F HIM!!!!

  • Conservative Ken

It all seems so hollow in light of the clergy ban.

  • Patty

This was amazing and so appropriate to hear the chorus singing. It was way in the background. The fact that this flag is here proves that those who have fought in some parts of this nation to have it taken down, IT IS AS BIG AND BEAUTIFUL AND HOPEFULLY A PERMANENT FIXTURE AT GROUND ZERO FLYING WITH PROMINENCE AND GRACE.

Now, that is what I call one more victory for America!

God Bless the Red, White and Blue
    Thank you!

Tonight CNN is reporting that there are three vans missing in New York City, two of which were taken from a company that worked at Ground Zero over a week ago. The third is a U-Haul that was stolen on August 21 from a Jersey City, New Jersey location.
The theft of the U-Haul was planned with cut lines to phones and surveillance cameras.

  • Remember 9-11.

‘One of a series of pictures of metropolitan New York City taken by one of the Expedition Three crew members onboard the International Space Station (ISS) at various times during the day on September 11, 2001. A smoke plume rises from the Manhattan area where the World Trade Center was destroyed. The orbital outpost was flying at an altitude of approximately 250 miles.

The only American not on Earth on that day in 2001, NASA astronaut Frank Culbertson, had a unique vantage point on the attacks. From the International Space Station, Culbertson snapped a photo of smoke streaming from the World Trade Center wreckage that day after two hijacked planes crashed into the Manhattan towers.’

Thanks so much for setting the record straight. . much appreciated!

Yes shame on me for not remembering or knowing that President Bush signed this into an Executive Order

Shame on ALL of us for not remembering or knowing

And Shame on the Media – – MSM and other for not reminding us.

I hope President Bush does so today in his talk at Groiund Zero. . Remind us that 9-11 is a Day of Prayer & Remembrance. . even though others (Bloomberg & Obama) ban clergy & religious leaders from the event or some (Obama) have the AUDACITY, not of Hope, just AUDACITY to call this a Day of Community Service rather than honor, remember and pray for those who died needlessly that day and those who died and were injured helping others.

This is why a special HOLI-day is needed. . .
one where Federal and many businesses are closed for the day. . .
one where School is closed for the day. . .
one where ALL can take time to reflect and be with family, loved ones & friends.

Since Labor day is so close. . .let’s drop Labor Day and establish
9-11 as THE official government holiday.

Yeah, I watched them unfurl it yesterday on Fox News. All I thought of was all the anti American aholes heads exploding. Like Daryl said above, the American flag is like sunlight to vampires for the radical left. They hate everything that it represents. Watching it unfurl actually made my eyes water; just like when I hear the national anthem. American Pride, Baby. God Bless the USA!!!!!

Is there some reason that escapes logic that 19 flags were included to remember the loss of the jihadist hijackers?

I heard it on Channel 9, I heard it on Channel 2, I heard it on radio: 2,996 flags to be placed on Art Hill. Webster-Kirkwood Times said the display “will feature 2,996 U.S. flags.”

At the time, I figured it was a case of Wikipedia derangement and typical lack of fact-checking by so-called journalists.

However, today we wake to see (I didn’t count) 2,996 flags, by all local reports. That webpage documents the sponsors and their plan: “Number of US flags: 2,996”

They copied the “concept” of a flag for “each individual” who died that day from the College Republicans at Pepperdine University.

stltoday has video, captioned in part, “Two-hundred and sixty volunteers swarmed Art Hill in St. Louis on Saturday staking 2996 flags into the ground as part of 10th anniversary remembrance of the terrorist attacks of 9/11….”

Reports say that each flag has information about the person it honors. So my question is:

Are there truly 19 flags on Art Hill remembering the “loss” of 19 jihadists, or is fact-checking in the St. Louis media THAT incompetent?

    2,977 VICTIMS of 9/11.

    19 murderers.

    could not agree more..

either that or let Obama change Labor Day to a day of service,
and establish a rock solid day of remembrance of 9/11 on (gasp)
9/11 = whatever day it falls on..
