It’s Worse Than We Thought… Obama Loses NY Times Lib David Brooks

It’s worse than we thought.
Losing New York 9, a district held by democrats for 88 years, is one thing.
Losing liberal New York Times columnist David Brooks is something entirely different.

Even so-called conservative David Brooks has lost that hopey-changey tingly feeling.
The courtship has turned sour.
The New York Times reported:

I’m a sap, a specific kind of sap. I’m an Obama Sap.

When the president said the unemployed couldn’t wait 14 more months for help and we had to do something right away, I believed him. When administration officials called around saying that the possibility of a double-dip recession was horrifyingly real and that it would be irresponsible not to come up with a package that could pass right away, I believed them.

I liked Obama’s payroll tax cut ideas and urged Republicans to play along. But of course I’m a sap. When the president unveiled the second half of his stimulus it became clear that this package has nothing to do with helping people right away or averting a double dip. This is a campaign marker, not a jobs bill.

It recycles ideas that couldn’t get passed even when Democrats controlled Congress. In his remarks Monday the president didn’t try to win Republicans to even some parts of his measures. He repeated the populist cries that fire up liberals but are designed to enrage moderates and conservatives.

He claimed we can afford future Medicare costs if we raise taxes on the rich. He repeated the old half-truth about millionaires not paying as much in taxes as their secretaries. (In reality, the top 10 percent of earners pay nearly 70 percent of all income taxes, according to the I.R.S. People in the richest 1 percent pay 31 percent of their income to the federal government while the average worker pays less than 14 percent, according to the Congressional Budget Office.)

This wasn’t a speech to get something done. This was the sort of speech that sounded better when Ted Kennedy was delivering it…

There’s more.

    Liberalism is mental illness.

Ya, he could have saved himself some time and listened to us early. We’ve been saying he is a sap for years.

    Hooray for David!!!!

now if all the other saps would wake up and listen

  • mg4us

David Brooks. . you are not a sap. . .you are an idiot!

    A Loser like President Zero!

Incompetent, Inept, Inexperienced. . . and radical too!

    Yes Obama and Brooks!

  • jorgen

When the president unveiled the second half of his stimulus it became clear that this package has nothing to do with helping people right away or averting a double dip.

And what, pray tell, Mr. Brooks, is there in the first “stimulus” that helps people?

It’s amazing what happens when someone makes their decisions using their brain (logic) rather than their heart (emotion).

  • And yet who will Mr. Brooks “pull the lever” (or “hang the chad”) for in 2012? As if there is any doubt. You aren’t fooling me, David.

  • Spider

We have totally cheapened the office of the presidency. It will take 100 years to restore the honor and prestige the position once held.

  • MariaA

I wonder why grown men like David sometimes behave like a lost puppy, looking for his master.

  • I don’t need any confirmation from this flaky CREEP for anything.
He is a Lib and he can stay a Lib

  • Bill Mitchell

So basically Brooks is admitting that for 4 years now he has been a clueless moron? Well he may be an idiot but at least he is an honest idiot.

  • Bill Mitchell

I have always been amused by the fact that the NYTimes resident “Conservative” never agrees with Republicans about anything and agrees with Democrats on everything.

Poor David needs a new iron and some Sta-Flo Starch.

    Babsy commented:

“Liberalism is a mental illness” is a really stupid thing to say at a web site frequented by Tea Partiers, who welcome Liberals on a platform of economic reform – because they need as many voters as they can get.

It’s an intentional insult, designed to turn away a group of people who could be decisive in the next election, and only someone who wants to weaken the Tea Parties by making them look mean-spirited and politically inept would be interested in diverting discussion, about a bellwether article that indicates that Liberals may be shifting away from support of Obama, to a discussion about being nasty to those curious potential allies who might wander here because of this post.

Ezra Klein is what passes as a conservative in New York. One of the objectives of the Tea Parties should be to take BOTH California and New York. That means getting people who think of themselves as Liberal to join in the discussion, on the Tea Parties side.

But then, Babsy knows that, and Babsy is not concerned at all about strengthening the Tea Parties, or having an actual win for a Tea Party-suported candidate who might be conservative.

Maybe you should’ve vetted The Clown Prince, Davey boy, instead of being so impressed with his “perfectly creased pants.” Those of us in flyover country knew what would happen if Mr. Historic were elected. And I imagine you were convinced we were all ignorant hayseeds. Cry me a river, Jackass.

  • donh

The cult has no furthur use for Obama. Everyone understands who Obama is . His ability to succeed at lies, deception, and blame has expired. Obama can no longer move the agenda forward to establish absolute dominion of Satan’s counterfit kingdom . He is about to be Dominique Strauss Kahnned .

  • patman

    Mr Brooks,

You have spent the last few years bashing anyone who did not drink the koolaid. You have propped up this liberal disaster and praised the ground it/they contaminate. You have put your faith and words behind the worst of American political ideology.

Then the pablum: “I’m a sap”.

Nope. You are an ahole with a pulpit crafting words a false god-ism. You took a radical left community organizer and his handlers and made them royalty.

    For this, you should resign.

  • patman

You are an ahole with a pulpit crafting words (FOR) a false god-ism.

  • daryl

This guy played old lib Mark Shield’s whipping boy on PBS too long for anyone to take anything he says too seriously.
Now that he’s at the NY Times he deserves even less.

  • phil

Sounds like Obama’s iron has broken down. What happened to this “great president” with the “perfect crease in his pants” that made it such a forgone conclusion “he would be a “Great President” maybe even the Greatest!

Poor poor David, if you can’t depend on someone’s pants crease, what’s left?

  • Valerie

…..about that GOP straw poll won by the Ron Paul.

  • Ron

This is a sign of things to come for Toonces and it’s all bad. Went over to HA before coming here, there’s a poll showing Governor Perry’s leading Romney and Bachman. As you can pretty much guess “They” came out like fire ants when you kick the top off of the mound. Folks; Obama can still take the election next year if we don’t stop all of this infighting. I’ve made myself clear on whom I support and unless he doesn’t get the nom, I’ll still support him. In the case that he doesn’t get the nom, I’ll support whomever the nom is. Some of the “They” that I spoke of are willing to sit out next year and SUFFER THE REST OF US FOUR MORE YEARS OF TOONCES, if their choice “S-W-W-N-B-N” doesn’t get the nom. This election is our sides to lose. I’m more afraid of the unhinged cultists on our side blowing this one for us than I am about anything that Toonces or his cultists could or might try to do. Stop giving the LSM and their lefty minions ammo to use against us. Also, u nless some can back up the crony capitalism meme, they need to STFU! Recycled garbage is still garbage never the less.

  • Bunni

Yippee, this is GREAT news and a wonderful way to Start the day!
Now the rest of the msm will soon be following. Dump obummer into the dumster, where he and his mooching family below! CAN”T WAIT until he’s evicted.

  • Bunni

dumster = Dumpster (although dumbster would work too) 🙂

  • EP

….but Obama’s pant creases are still perfect. I don’t understand. Isn’t that what it takes to be a “great” president?

  • MWTexas

Brooks is a fag, a specific kind of fag, an Obama fag.

  • Michael

Gheez Valerie, who pissed in your corn flakes this morning. Liberalism IS a mental illness, based upon idealistic emotions, and for the most part, a lack of basic reasoning and analytical skills, particularly when they ignore facts inconvenient to their worldview.

I’m not sure liberals can be offended or capable of embarrassment when it comes to their ideology and a “stupid” insult, albeit it being a truthful opinion, is not going to be the reason for them to not vote Republican or support the Tea Party.

Waking-up to the realization that blind loyalty to this disaster of a POTUS might do it.

  • Militant Conservative

No Valerie, we do not want liberals. They don’t change, they screw up a good thing.

Kinda like what your advocating. Most people are conservatives and live their

lives without knowing this fact. My job is to point it out.

The left has accused we conservatives of being vile for decades. I’m just using

thier fear of this against them (Alinsky tactics) cept I do not just threaten.

I follow through. The aggressor sets the rules. Sun Tzu

The fact that the NYTimes actually allowed it to go into print. If you ever had any doubt that the PTB in the Democrat Party are going to primary Obama, doubt no more. However, by running uber-left candidates against Obama, Obama can pretend to be centrist by comparison. Being primaried may actually benefit him.

  • Valerie

Obama has a Chicago Problem, namely the Tribune,0,1675131.story

“The skeptics are on solid ground. When he signed the original $787 billion stimulus measure, the president said it would create or save 3.5 million jobs. Instead, employment has dropped by 1.7 million. The administration is not wholly at fault: The economy was weaker then than anyone realized. But the spending measures simply didn’t have anything like the payoff that was promised.”

“The folly here is trying to juice up the job market in the short run at the expense of what the economy needs in the long run. House Speaker John Boehner’s Thursday speech to the Economic Club of Washington had a less jazzy but more realistic formula.”

With those points, the Tea Parties win.

  • Fuquay Steve

But, but the crease of his pants are still crisp and sharp! How can this be?

  • cal rifkin

It’s ok, David…lots of people were sucked into the vortex. The fact is, having Brooks pronounce himself a sap is instructive for the rest of us that, given time, the spell does indeed wear off. Brooks needs to do lots of things to make up for what he’s, in a way, caused. This is a good start, but, no doubt, he’ll temper his words as has Peggy Noonen…letting them back into the good graces of the conservative movement shouldn’t be an easy thing….lots of bowing and scraping would be nice.

“Liberalism is a mental disorder with a death wish attached”.

Pink Tie Republican, 2011, with a hat tip to Michael Savage.

  • Patty

I liked Obama’s payroll tax cut ideas and urged Republicans to play along.

Play along? The Congress must stop playing along. START DOING SOMETHING AND I SUGGEST SHOW AMERICA’S THE REAL NUMBERS.
If Obama is allowed to continue with his Rhetoric the voters will begin to believe him.

More importantly, will this go on until the elections?

America is paying too much in Taxes, period and the only thing Obama is doing is hurting the Middle Class workers.

Obama just spews out any figures and then, whether right or wrong, if you doubt him then he will BLAME CONGRESS? They have lay out plans but again stubborn Senate and Obama will NOT hear of it.

  • Westie

Brooks should do the same as disgraced/dishonored Japanese. Sepuku now.

  • Sparky

    A rat fleeing the ship!

If Liberalism is not a mental illness, how else would you describe their twisted and demented views?

  • Blackbird

“We’re not going to simplify the tax code, but by God Obama’s going to raise taxes on rich people who give to charity! We’ve got to do something to reduce the awful philanthropy surplus plaguing this country! ”

Poor David Brooks is beginning to realize Obamaism is actually Obamanitis.

  • MaryW

Looks like Brooks woke up this morning and discovered he was sleeeping with a frog.

  • drjohn

David Brooks: The best vantage to admire the crease in a man’s pants is on your knees facing his zipper.

  • mcc

Blame it on the crease, David:

“I remember distinctly an image of–we were sitting on his couches, and I was looking at his pant leg and his perfectly creased pant,” Brooks says, “and I’m thinking, a) he’s going to be president and b) he’ll be a very good president.”

  • mike191

Paging David Brooks:you are much more than a sap.The fasade of being sophisticated and erudite thinker has always been on display when you write about President44.

If this is your attemt at seeking absolution at the feet of Conservatives in this Nation , you have missed the bus ,once again.

To little to late Davey boy. Your not even an establishment Republican. Come clean and admit your a lib who voted for Obama.

  • jim

“If Liberalism is not a mental illness, how else would you describe their twisted and demented views?”

Indeed! Deranged liberal concepts like personal liberty, equal rights or decent pay & conditions for workers have no place in a SANE Amerika! Go ahead, try & find ANY of that insane Marxist gibberish in your Holy Bible.

But the mental illness that is liberalism is merely the thin edge of the wedge, sheeple! WE HAVE TO GO DEEPER. Plainly, in the absence of a leader with enough Purity, Will & Vision to enact a Final Solution to the poor-folks problem, this entire “democracy” scam needs to be abolished once & for all: only an enlightened oligarchy can make the decisions that matter … the peasantry will always be swayed by those insane liberals offering glittering trinkets like desegregation, giving women the vote or mandatory minimum wage laws.

Fortunately the GOP is bravely leading the way by making it harder & harder for these filthy peons to vote – we can only hope that enough of these Useless Eaters will give up entirely to allow the RIGHT people into office.
