Ford goes there…
Their latest television ad knocks the bailed out competition.
The Tatler reported:

This hurts:
REPORTER: Chris, was buying American important to you?

CHRIS: I wasn’t going to buy another car that was bailed out by our government. I was gonna buy from a manufacturer that’s standing on their own, win, lose or draw. That’s what America’s about is, taking the chance to succeed and understanding when you fail, that you’ve gotta pick yourself up and go back to work. Ford is that company for me.

You can only buy GM’s from Obama approved dealers.

  3. That’s exactly why I bought a Ford Edge. Awesome car BTW.

  4. I was a GMC buyer, I won’t buy anything but a

Ford. Piss on government subsidized cars.

You unions in ford need to keep your desires

Within due bounds. Lest you consume yourselves.

Powder is dry, a tap on the shoulder.

  5. I decided the day the government took over GM and screwed the bond holders that I would never buy another GM product, and I don’t expect to ever change my mind about that. Spend your money with Ford. They make a great product…

  6. Now, Ford was hiring here and it was for 700 jobs on a truck line. 4,000 applicants. They are union workers but the CEO decided not to take BAILOUT.

Before 2008 they were in serious trouble. The Expedition ate up their profits and gas was a factor. Yet, business is booming, now.

If, Obama wants the Jobs Act to work he should take a class at Ford. They have had some bumps in the road but because of Raw initiative they keep on Truckin’.

[The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of
General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.

On Monday, President Barack Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto
industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM
and Chrysler. The plan is based on recommendations from the Presidential
Task Force on the Auto Industry, headed by the Treasury Department.

The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government's

Obama: GM, Chrysler Must Restructure or Face Bankruptcy

[In a dramatic move, the Obama administration announced today that
restructuring plans issued by General Motors and Chrysler are untenable,
upping the likelihood of bankruptcy among the Big Three and effectively
launching one of the biggest instances of government intervention the
recession has yet seen. "These companies and this industry must
ultimately stand on their own, not as wards of the state," President
Obama said this morning. "After careful analysis, we've decided that
    neither goes far enough."

  19. Oh isnt that rich! Ford took a secret bailout!

    http://jalopnik.com/5704575/

According to the data, from October 2008 through June 2009 the fed bought $45.1 billion in commercial paper from the credit arms of four automakers – Ford, BMW, Chrysler and Toyota – along with GMAC (the former General Motors credit arm). Of those, Ford sold the most, with $15.9 billion.

The Fed also lent $13 billion to investors who bought bonds backed by loans to new car buyers from automakers and banks. The Fed made clear that while investors got the loans, the move was meant to keep the lenders in business; the credit arms of Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Volkswagen, Honda and Hyundai all benefited directly.

just to add a bit of in context perspective..

Ford Takes $5.9 Billion Government Loan

[Ford Motor Company was supposed to be the only major U.S. automaker not in need of a bailout, but this week Ford accepted a $5.9 billion loan subsidy under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The EISA loan is designed to help the auto industry by supporting “capital investments in facilities designed to produce vehicles with greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.”

It’s not a “bailout,” Ford executives would likely argue, on the basis that the money is a loan. But would Ford have been able to obtain the same amount of money and the same interest rate in the free market? To what extent is the loan (the difference between the government-provided loan and what the free market would offer) a subsidy? Undoubtedly, a $5.4 billion infusion of cash from already tapped-out taxpayers for doing what Ford was presumably already doing with their business model won't hurt their cash flow. And coming in a tough year for the auto industry, it was probably even more welcomed.

The Department of Energy also announced loans the same day to Nissan North America ($1.6 billion) and the start-up U.S. auto company Tesla Motors ($454 million), which specializes in electric vehicles.

The loans come out of the $25 billion EISA loan program, which would be doubled by the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, a bill now pending in Congress.

The news that all of the “big three” U.S.-based automakers are receiving assistance from the U.S. government is disheartening news. With the U.S. government already being the prime stockholder in both Chrysler and General Motors, should we be surprised if the government were to muscle in on Ford operations, using the billions Ford now owes the government as leverage?

The line between “private enterprise” and “government enterprise” is blurring daily under the administration of Barack Obama and his compliant Congress.]

  26. I bought a Ford for the first time in my life 8 weeks ago. The driving factor was I was so angry about the bailouts. I love my Ford Explorer.

  27. Next they will be advertising on Rush.

  28. 35 years of buying GM down the drain. All that good ole banter between family and friends shot to hell. Thanks Obama, thanks Crony Capitalist Losers who support Obama and the Progressive traitor Party of America.

  29. I am going out to buy two fords, trade in my japanese cars. God Bless them.

    Winner all the way around.

  30. Nothing but Fords for me.

GM = cars from the government and unions, who but a dope would want one? Could not give me one.

  31. I love this ad. I thought I was the only American, who thought this way. I’m very happy to hear (and read from these comments) that isn’t the case.

  32. Our family consists of my husband and I, my aged mother, six children, and a foreign exchange student. We have a Ford Excursion (9 passenger – Love It!), an F250 diesel, and a Taurus. We have 3 Ford tractors presently, and many more in the past. My dad was a Ford man, and we have continued his tradition. :0)

  33. This is a great ad. My husband and I own a GM Car. It will be our last. They’ve stole from their fellow citizens. When we have a legitimate government, they need to be sent to the nearest court to get their affairs in order. We will never own another one.

You’re right. They’ll be breaking down the doors with their AK-47s. Bought with “Stimulus” money of course. Heck, they’ll probably be Mexican.

  35. Purchased Chrysler’s all our 35 years of married life as I was a Master Mechanic for them for 19 years. Just went out and bought a new Kia and so did my son –

Chrysler, never, ever again. Ever. That goes double for GM

  36. Kudos to Ford for waiting 2 years before making an ad out of this issue.

Two years ago they might have been, but some would have seen its as sour grapes; now they are right, and their timing is right too.

  37. If they use union labor, I will never buy one of their vehicles, bailout or not. These unions have burnt their bridges with me.

Kia now seems better than ever.

Ford Says CEO Will Work for $1 to Get Loans

The company says its plan to achieve profitability or break even by 2011 is based on industrywide sales estimates of 12.5 million units in 2009, 14.5 million in 2010 and 15.5 million in 2011. The seasonally adjusted annual sales rate dropped to 10.6 million vehicles in October.

Ford shares rose 25 cents, or 9.8 percent, to $2.80 in midday trading.

Ford’s plan said it will reduce its number of dealers by 606 to 3,790 by the end of the year. It will also trim the number of major sourcing suppliers it uses to 750 from 1,600.

Ford reiterated its intention to offload Volvo, by either selling the Swedish automaker or spinning it off into a separate company. Since 2007, Ford has sold its Jaguar, Aston Martin and Land Rover lines. It also sold most of its stake in Mazda.

  40. This will play well with Americans and probably drive up business… but hopefully Ford has all its i’s dotted and t’s crossed, because Obama and Holder will be ticked off and find a way to attack them. Just ask Gibson.

  41. Ha, I knew there was a company I forgot to bankrupt!

Call Eric holder and draw up the legal papers to grab Ford’s entire inventory. Some of it has got to be illegal!

My limousine is running and Barney Frank is in the Back. We have some deep probing to do and a list of jobs to kill. Four more years! Change and hope! Bend over and grab your ankles! It will hurt less! Good day.

  42. The Ford F150 truck, I have seen around here for many years. It is a favorite of many who use it daily for their business, such as gardening, putting on many miles a day. The users are thrifty and want their vehicle dependable and trouble free. I really don’t care if it is union assembled, it has proven itself over the years. It will be my next purchase, new or used.

  43. no one has mentioned that GM will not be honoring pre-bailout warranty claims, which is yet another thing the Marxist-In-Chief lied to us about.

we own 2; an F150 and an Escort ZX2. Both are great, and trouble-free for being well over 100k miles. Both have outlasted the last 2 Gubmint Motors products I have owned. Chryslers are, and always have been, complete crap.

Those of you talking about Kias… are you friggin’ kidding? Foreign-made disposable cars are not the answer. I bet you will put Venezuelan gas in them too. What, Hyundai was too snooty for you?

  44. I’ve been driving a Kia trouble-free for 10 years. Of course, I live in Korea where it is more or less mandatory to purchase a Korean car (foreign-made cars suffer a 25%-35% price premium due to engine-displacement taxes here). My next car, after the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement is ratified by the Congress, will be a Ford Mustang.

  45. Yes, I agree it’s awesome that Ford didn’t take a bailout but the are still UAW. Though I have got to say I love my Ford Truck so much more than my Cheverolet truck. The chevie has fallen apart in the inside. Ford invented trucks and they are so much better in quality.

  46. Buying Ford for the quality, who can dispute that?
But I am just reminding people, Ford did receive money.
Once again, see #20 and #23 above.

  47. This year after a lifetime of GM vehicles, I bought a Toyota minivan that had handicap access. I will never consider GM or Chrysler in the future

  48. All I’ve got to say to that is Shake & Bake.

  49. So the the government changes the rules on you by forcing higher fuel standards. They offer a loan at good rates to help that happen. Is that a government bail-out? I think not.

  50. I just bought my SECOND Ford Escape SUV—I love it!!! I think UNIONS do nothing but shut companies down and put money in UNION leaders pockets…and support those who are DEAD WOOD (parasites).

  51. i love it!

  52. Maybe that’s why the best selling vehicle is the F-150.

Which is made in Mexico. No union problems down there.

  53. RE #56 No, the F150 is made at Dearborn Truck Plant in MI.

  54. #57 OK, then it’s the F149 that’s made in Mexico.

  55. i hope they don’t use Indian wood.

  56. @59 Ruebacca

    lol! good one

  57. Maybe its time for all to look up what the Ford Foundation does. It employed not only Zero’s mama, but Geitner’s daddy. I cannot believe what I am reading from conservatives, and I hope its only because you do not understand or know the history.

GM and Chrysler were taken over, given to the unions, while Ford not only took secret money, but because of their “history” were not taken over, given special status, an unfair advantage, all while they secretly took bailout money. Ford was in the worst shape of all the Big Three.

You are supporting this administration and their back door deals without even knowing it. Or even caring to know what happened, and the threats that were involved. The cold, hard facts of the FOMOCO and its history of antisemitism are shocking. Google good ol’ Henry Ford. Google the Ford Foundation and its support of Arab causes.

Then go buy a Ford and see what it supports, and live with your own conscience.

  58. BRILLIANT.

    Shaaaaaaring!

  59. D/G & others simply do not understand (or are purposfully lying – your call) the difference between the ’07 & ’08 “credit crunch” w/the US making loan $ available to all lenders of note – including all consumer credit arms, not just automakers’ (BTW – every $ of that money was repaid, with interest…) and the bailout of GM & Chrysler by overriding established bankruptcy reorganization rules and wiping out stock & bond holder’s value & paying off the UAW…

  60. Ditto Girl, Ford did not have our bankruptsy laws subverted by an executive branch out of control as with GM and the remnant of Chrysler. Also, Ford has a viable business model and is not trying to sell phony electric cars with a giant tax credit paid for by working class SOBs like myself who still drives a ’94 Cherokee. It looks like the government bought everyones commercial paper not just Ford’s during the downturn, could Ford could have stopped the Feds intervention into the commercial paper market? But thanks for the info anyway.

  61. Sooner or later Obama won’t be around and neither will General Motors.

  62. #61: Dittogirl, the Ford Foundation is not run by Ford Motor company, and hasn’t had any connection to FMC for decades.

  63. As for me, I offer a loud mea culpa for my incredibly bad decision making. After owning 6 Ford F150s in a row, I bought a GMC Sierra just before GM became Obama Motors. What magnificent timing.

The only way I will EVER buy another GM product is if the government gets completely out and the entire useless lot of current corporate officers are fired. So never, presumably.

  64. Bill O’Reilly showed a clip from this ad last night. I believe it got his “patriot” rating.

    Clever and effective.
