A union leader at Verizon was caught on a call recently telling fellow members that it’s “open season” on “managers and scabs” and “time to torture them.”
What a lovely bunch.
MRCTV reported:
As the CWA picketing of Verizon continues it seems some of the union leadership is becoming more and more unhinged. Apparently one member of the union leadership went so far as to instruct his members, by way of publicly accessible telephone hotline, that it is now “open season” on “managers and scabs”. The thug went on to say that union members should “follow them” and “torture them, torture them with chants and noise”.

Sounds like incitement to violence to me . . . . somebody should let the union “leader” cool their heels in jail for a few weeks.

At least they’re not telling their 10-yr-old daughters to jump in front of work trucks.
Oh, wait…

Gee, I wonder if Verizon can fill these union
Positions in this kind of economy? Ya think!
Union busting in this economy is too easy.
Powder is dry

let them try.
one thing, are these union people Americans?
how can they do this to their fellow American?
i watched the video of the guy with the child in front of the truck and i was absolutely astounded that the parents would let their child hear such offensive language being spoken to another fellow human being by her own father and that he would put this child in front of the truck the two men were driving. simply astounding!
no wonder American children act the way they do, they are just imitating their parents.

[[The new union contract proposed by Verizon asks employees to make a monthly premium contribution of as little as $100. This, evidently, has not sat well with union employees who currently pay nothing toward their health care.]] “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush” means that having one small thing is better than taking a risk for two…”

While it may make sense for the CWA to ‘annoy’ scabs, they need a far better plan than to harass management. Sooner or later strikes are settled. Harassing managers leads to terrible repercussions down the road. In fact, if they are harass enough managers, they may be out on that picket line for many many months.
KOW commented:
Verizon should tell all their customers that they are firing all their field employees that are on strike. That they will rehire as fast as they can, but in the mean time, they will give them free 6 months of Cellphone usage for any disruption in their landlines. They will automatically switch their numbers.
It will accomplish two things, getting those still on landlines to switch, if the household has both cell and landlines, that is OK. It will also help to move past landlines, making Cellphone use cheaper as more move to it, and with non-union employees.
I would also design a phone that is a cellphone, that sites on a docking always charging, basically like old cordless phones. Make the experience the same as a cordless, because for some reason, they still have a landline, it may be because of the number itself.

You know what this means?
Job openings at Verizon!
Lemme just just get these new “Ben Hur Chariot” multi-bladed hubs mounted on my car for the righteous union guys waiting at the gate, and I’m good to go.

Cant wait for that jobs report in Sept, with 45,000 out of work, should be a 0 jobs growth for Aug. They will somehow adjust the prior two months jobs reports to make it look like this moth was not as bad, then adjust it months down the line to reflect reality.

Well shazam!
And people wonder why so many of us feel no sympathy for Unions. All Unions have thugs in their payrolls and they encourage them to INTIMIDATE good hard working people. Unions have always been about breaking necks and talking tough.
Let them keep it up. As people become more and more informed, unions, as they are today, will be a thing of the past very soon – but not soon enough.
I’m getting my groceries at Wal-Mart this week.

I’m going down to apply right now! Break the Union!!
If Verizon surrenders to these terrorists, I will switch to At&t even though its service is horrible in comparison.
UNION BUSTING!!! WOOOHOOO
These CRETANS should be on their knees thanking GOD that they even have a job. They have no idea

There will be landlines as long as people desire secure communications.
Lawyers, DEA Investigators, Stock brokers, any number of people who can not risk having their communications compromised will need to use land lines…
Also it takes years to become a skilled telecom tech…
I’m not defending the despicable behavior displayed by some union folks… Merely pointing out some of the facts to give better perspective. Verizon has not been promoting their managers from with in for years now.
End result they have very few tech savvy managers left to fix troubles or train new hires/replacement workers…
Those are the facts.

Gee I wonder if Verizon will have any job opennings soon. No wonder unions are so popular.
