The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is working to solve a case of vandalism that turned life-threatening. Business owner was John King was shot for owning the largest non-union electrical contracting businesses in the Toledo, Ohio area.
WTOL has video.

King was shot in the arm. Here he points at where the bullet hit his house.

RedState reported:

With around 25 employees, John King owns one of the largest non-union electrical contracting businesses in the Toledo, Ohio area. As a non-union contractor, his business happens to be doing well at a time when unions in the construction industry are suffering. This, it seems, has made the usual animosity unions have for him even greater, making him a prime target of union thugs. So much so, that one of them tried to kill him last week at his home.

John King didn’t plan on being an enemy of unions. In fact, he says all he’s ever wanted to do is work at something he loves doing and be successful at it—something that most normal Americans would call ‘The American Dream.’

…being a non-union electrical company, King has always been on the radar of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). In fact, in 2006, he won a significant case against the IBEW at the US Court of Appeals, after the union had improperly promised his electricians jobs on union sites if they voted the union into King’s company.

Since he’s been in business, in addition to the legal battles and verbal abuse, King’s company has been vandalized and threatened on numerous occasions.

“Back then, it was nothing to have to regularly buy a new set of tires.” King said during a telephone interview on Tuesday. “The ice pick was the weapon of choice.”

Until Wednesday, the worst of the union attacks on King and his business came in the mid-eighties during the UAW strike at AP Parts. During a lull during the lengthy strike, King’s business was picketed by more than 50 IBEW picketers. This was at a time when he only had eight or nine employees. One of his employees, whose car was trashed by the union picketers, was also beaten up by IBEW thugs.

Unfortunately, the vandalism has never stopped. This year alone, he’s had to report three incidents of damage to police. This doesn’t include the incidents of stalking he and his men have to go through while they’re working.

In one incident earlier this year, rocks were thrown through the front windows of his shop, one of which had the word “kill” written on it.

Last Wednesday, however, the attacks on Mr. King became much more serious when he was awakened late in the evening at his home in Monroe County, Michigan and saw that the motion lights in his driveway had come on. When he looked out his front window, he saw a figure near his SUV and went outside.

As soon as he got outside his front door, King yelled at the individual who was crouched down by King’s vehicle. As soon as King yelled, the suspect stood and, without hesitation, fired a shot at Mr. King.

Luckily for King, as he yelled, he also stumbled. If it weren’t for that, however, John King’s injuries might have been much, much worse. In fact, he might have been killed.

Upon scrambling back into his house, King got to his cell phone and called 911. However, due to the pain in his knees and shoulder from falling, King was unaware that he had been shot in the arm.

  1. your post below- “Union Leade (says) ..torture–”
tells us where this type of intimidation is coming from-
just wonder what action honest business folks will take and
WILL THEY ORGANIZE!!! or COALESCE- at least!!

    C-CS

  2. Those union thugs are Obama’s people.

Nothing to see here – move along.

  3. Time to start turning the tables on these scumbags. Stock up folks.

  4. horrible.

violence seems to be escalating, against middle white America.

once middle white America starts hitting back, they are going to regret ever waking us up.

  5. The IBEW is the most wicked union in the country. They’re like locust who destroy everything in their path. I know first hand about the IBEW because I used to be a member. They intimidate, use thuggery, and will do whatever it takes to destroy their non-union competition. The worst IBEW Local Union is in Erie, PA. They’re a flock of morons who expect everything for nothing. Long live the non-union electrical contractor.

  6. Citizens, arm thy selves. It is only a prudent thing for a patriot to do now.

The organized Left is broadcasting its intentions, in incident after incident of violence and false accusations. Only a fool would not see that they are pining for open conflict, and not take the proper precautions in response.

  7. I think Mr. King needs to file a RICO suit, although he may not have a chance in Holder’s justice dept.

  8. These Union toughs are getting desperate.

  9. Unionism is a disease and should be eradicated as such

  10. another reason unions should be illegal..watch out that’s what odumbo’s boys will be pulling up to the election

  11. “These Union toughs are getting desperate.”

They’ve always been desperate if the golden egg laying goose stopped laying. They can’t figure why the goose keeps flying the coop and what the hell happened to all of their something for as little as possible work in return (or none at all) for their pay.
It flies in their face too that non-union labor is as good or better than their brainwashed members can or will perform.

  12. There is nothing in the story that leads me to believe that this was a Union member. This happens everywhere, every day, every neighborhood. The circumstances would lead one to assume the headline is correct, but, to make a statement that is not substantiated to date is dangerous.
I have no use for unions, none, but again, I will hold my judgement until I have ALL the facts. Maybe Bush did it. /sarc.

  13. This, along with the vandalism against Verizon in the North East, are prime examples of why unions are NFG. What crime did this man commit? He was simply the target of intimidation because he chose to be a non-union shop.

If unions are so great, why do they need to intimidate people into joining them? We need look no further than the zone of complete deterioration that used to be Detroit to see why unions are on the decline. Look at how the foreign car manufacturers all set up assembly lines in right-to-work states.

These union thugs have a long history of being associated with organized crime. Now they are associated with the Democratic Party – who is surprised by this?

  14. Unions have long been the Brown Shirts for Dims, in my view – and what do they do to combat the image they made for themselves? SHOWCASE IT at every opportunity, these days – since they have ERIC HOLDER to protect them for ACORN ORGANIZER, Odrama Queen!

  15. LOL! They DON’T represent Quality Workmanship. They DON’T represent “THRIVING BUSINESS and THRIVING JOBS”. They DON’T represent Great Jobs for Great Products that EARNED it…
They do represent VOTER INTIMIDATION, they do represent BLACKMAIL of the Private Industry… they DO represent the THREAT of PHYSICAL VIOLENCE with GOVT SANCTION backing them…

AND THEY CANNOT UNDERSTAND why Joe and Jane Q. Public don’t support them and their THEFT and RAPE of John Q. Public!

    Wonder why!

  16. “There is nothing in the story that leads me to believe that this was a Union member. ”

I read somewhere that King supposedly was coming from his house to investigate someone vandalizing his car, which was found to have ‘Scab’ painted onto it.

  17. Sounds like attempted murder to me . . . and grounds to shut down the union.

  18. Joe Camel – it’s pretty obvious it was a union thug – who else would write SCAB on the side of his SUV?

  19. Be on guard. . . it will be getting much worse BEFORE the election. .

a storm is coming. . . a Black Cloud hangs over our country!

RATs, RINOs, Goonions and libtards need to be removed from office and government posts starting with the biggest Liar-n-Thief — Obama.

    Time to Restore our Country

  20. My grandfather had the same problems back in the 50′s with the Teamsters when they were going strong. He was an oil distributor and they were sabotaging his trucks day after day.A few shotgun blasts over their heads they finally got the message-he don’t want no f*****g union around- problem solved. Mr King should install some surveillance cameras around his place or hide behind some bushes like my Grandfather did with a shotgun.

  21. Its starting. Flash mob looting, union violence, now a shooting of a non-union businessman. If you live in a state that provides for Concealed Carry permits, get one. Arm yourselves, practice at the shooting range. Refuse to be a victim.

    Status: Weapons free.

  22. One way to stop this……………………..shoot first.

  23. Apparently there are no limits to what this scum will do. Anything for more money. People need to understand that some union members will actually kill a fellow human being out of greed.

  24. Union Electricians and the rest of their union brethren are a$$hole scum. I hate them all for what they do to this country.

  25. the out-to-lunch union bossmen in their shiney shoes extort and collect dues money from the harvests of the hard working rank and file members and then enlist the fringe element of their membership to thug around intimidating freedom loving citizens and committing crimes. union members = brownshirts, look it up. Here is a link for starters http://americanvision.org/1462/who-real-brownshirts/

  26. Well the president did say if they bring a knife we’ll bring a gun.

  27. All points bulletin! Armed and dangerous JAUL on the loose.

  28. My husband worked for a company that decided not to sign with the union and his office was firebombed and people shot at his house in the middle of the night. They also tried to run him over and he was in the hospital for months. What I do not understand is why these union workers do not complain about the hundred of thousands of dollars that their contribution pays to these union leaders? Why not re-distribute the wealth so some of the union workers do not have to pay such high union fees and the union leaders get less?

  29. And does NBC aka Obama TV cover this? Uh, no. Today show covers the “confrontational” style of the Tea Party.

  30. Boycott Union companies–Use Fedex whenever possible. Fedex delivers on Saturday, too, and the USPS will soon stop.

Let’s start voting with our money.

    ^^^^^^^
Bingo. They are so stupid. They get their pockets picked and their retirement funds raided.

“If unions are so great, why do they need to intimidate people into joining them?”

    Another question:
If unionized workers are so great, why do they need to band together in mob action to extort the kind of compensation they imagine that they deserve? Why are they so afraid of the people who market their skills on their own individual merits?

  33. Half the members are intimidated and the other half turn into dangerous thugs that are truly homegrown terorists. They threaten as they flex their muscles and if they can’t get their way, they willl hurt/kill you or your family.

After seeing the teacher unions in action, I would even eliminate them. The police and firefighters should not be unionized. Most watching WI should be able to see how close to the edge we have come. Why didn’t the police remove that crowd of thugs?

    That should scare you.
