Al Gore compared global warming climate change skeptics to racists today.
Poor Richard’s reported this from Politico:

The former vice president also criticized climate change skeptics, urging those who support curbs to greenhouse gases to “win the conversation” when it comes to global warming. He compared the struggle against climate skeptics to the fight against racism during the civil rights movement.

When racist comments would come up in the course of conversations, “There came a time when people said, ‘Hey man, why do you talk that way? That’s wrong, I don’t go for that, so don’t talk that way around me. I just don’t believe that.’”

That happened in millions of conversations, and slowly the conversation was won,” he said. “And we still have racism, God knows, but it’s so different now and so much better. And we have to win the conversation on climate.”

Man is a pimple on the rear of an elephant called earth. . . yes we should take care of our planet, be respectful and not pollute but to think MAN affects climate change. . . think again. . . We do not have good long term reliable & consistent data nor know cause and effect. . . on a planet billions of years old . .yes billions not millions. .lets see. .now it is 2011. . and we have recorded history approx 4000 years prior ( Fourth millenium BC) so that makes about 6 THOUSAND years of recorded mankind ( yes THOUSAND) vs 4.56 BILLION years for earth. . .

    Right. . .

    Sun (solar activity), rotation, tilt on axis, moon. . all these things affect climate change. . . Al Gore nada!!

If I didn’t know any better, I would think you are trying to suppress the military and economic power of the United States and increase the power of those who would oppose her in the world.

    And then there is this. The late John L. Daly has a delightful web site. A little poking around will show his extensive collection of temperature readings from city pairs. We are sternly warned about “Global Warming” from Al, but this warming should be by its very nature, global! Yet the Daly city pair charts show that it is not. Indeed, that it is not at all! For me, Daly’s charts disprove “Global Warming”.

    Then there is the graph of temperatures and CO2 levels from the ice cores at the Vostok Base in the Antarctic, that clearly show the mega cycles of climate trends way before human activity.

    Last time I checked, a “conversation” was an exchange of ideas, not a verbal competition.

    Perhaps Gore wants to win a “debate”? But of course, a “debate” by its nature requires arguments for and against a given topic. Gore’s vitriol toward anyone suggesting that “Anthropogenic Global Warming is unproven at best” shows that he’s not looking for a debate.

    I think I’ll have to agree with poster #6 above who suggested that Big Al’s motivation is something on the order of, “Dammit, I thought that carbon-credit exchange was a sure thing. I invested every dime I had into it, and now I really, really need it to pay off BIG TIME in order to afford my mansions and my boats and my planes.”

    Some of the loudest race baiters use inaccurate rhetoric to distort the truth, control large numbers of people (at the same time supporting practices that harm the most those they claim to be helping), and most of all, create a market and thus the demand that makes them the greatest beneficiaries.
    In the same way, bottom feeders such as algore, who by the way took one semester of a science course in college, create a myth, claim to be the only one’s who can lead us out of disaster, and are in the end the greatest financial beneficiaries of the con.
    In the same way that liberal always “see” utopia just beyond the horizon, the junk science guru’s claim disaster is just around the corner unless we follow their directions. Just like utopia never seems to emerge from beyond the horizon, the disaster never seems to appear either.
