It’s fair to say the Obama regime is the most radical and punishing administration in US history.
And after two and a half years they continue to target the American people with their job-killing radical socialist agenda. This week the extremists in the Obama EPA pushed new rules on 26 states that will kill thousands of jobs, cost billions of dollars and increase electricity rates for every family.

New EPA rules will force Western coal-fired power plants to install haze-reducing pollution-control equipment at a cost of $1.6 billion a year. Pictured is the Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock, Wyoming. (IBD)
And get this… America-hating EPA director Lisa Jackson had the gall to claim that 34,000 lives will be saved from her latest radical job-killing regulations. Not 35,000 or 33,000… 34,000 lives. What absolute rubbish!
She is a criminal.
When is enough, enough?
JS Online reported:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday finalized stronger regulations for Wisconsin and 26 other states aimed at curbing air pollution from long-distance sources.
The rules will help those states fight ozone and particle pollution caused by power plants in Illinois, Indiana and other states.
But Wisconsin utilities – whose pollution can contribute to air-quality problems elsewhere – will also need to find ways to reduce their own emissions.
The likely result: Higher electric bills in the coming years.
A group of power companies known as the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity called the action one of the most costly crackdowns on coal ever.
Nationwide, the EPA estimated that utilities are projected to spend $800 million on the rule in 2014, in addition to $1.6 billion a year that’s been spent to satisfy an earlier version of the regulations.
But in a teleconference with reporters, EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson extolled the health benefits of cleaner air, including $120 billion to $280 billion in annual health and welfare benefits beginning in 2014.
EPA’s analysis found the rule will save up to 34,000 lives a year and prevent more than 400,000 asthma attacks as well as 19,000 admissions to hospitals.
And just think… It’s all based on junk science.
Lisa Jackson should be imprisoned for her radical policies that are costing Americans thousands of jobs and billions of dollars.
Her policies are criminal.

Of course there is not looking at all for the potential positive effect of those particulates such as say their role in perhaps helping in the seeding of clouds to aid in starting precipitation etc.
We may only see linkages like that as we see over time the unintended consequences that seem to always come with these kinds of regulations.

Lisa Jackson is an enemy of the United States – just like Hussein Obama.
That twit brags about saving lives – YEAH RIGHT, JUST LIKE OBAMACARE WILL BRING DOWN THE COST OF HEALTHCARE – at the cost of millions of jobs and billions of dollars – to save 34,000 lives a year – another made-up liberal lie.
Now why the hell would anyone want to live longer in a country where you can’t work, can’t keep warm, can’t work to buy expensive food?

Time to shut down EPA.
Bob commented:
No one forces EPA to substantiate claims of 400,000 cases of asthma, 19,000 hospital visits, 34,000 lives or the hundreds of billions claimed in costs. No one takes EPA to court over this. Instead, the power companies go to the state utilities commission and get a higher rate to pay for the added cost. The biggies line up for the green agenda because they don’t think they can lose. The losers are the folks who pay the increased electric rates.
Until the EPA is sued and forced to substantiate these ludicrous claims, or until Congress forces them to use real data instead of the statistical manipulation, they will remain out of control.
Liz commented:
But wait, wait. My doctor friend with a Ph.D. told me the bad economy is all Bush’s fault. And that Obama worked really hard to get through life and that Bush was an awful president.
Bob commented:
PS. It really grates on my nerves to see a “pollution” article with the obligatory photo of water vapor from cooling towers. That’s part of the propaganda drive so every time you see a stack billowing white clouds of water vapor you will think it’s pollution and get scared. Brainwashing 101 and GP goes along with it.

Those are all statistical deaths. All based on a risk percentage. Nobody has any actual numbers of real people being sick.
It’s the same as with “passive smoking”. The same nonsense, the same lies.

AND COST $260 million, that is correct. Twe Hundred Sixty million bucks. The detectors run about 29.00

Is there any way that a private citizen can fight this? — I think that we should just do away with the EPA. I understand that state’s already have the capability to take the responsibility of the EPA function. and I have another question. Why do we have the state’s enviromental dept. and the EPA?

How is it that the EPA is allowed to do this without Congressional approval? And this loon might think she is saving lives, but what about all the people who will have health problems when they have to choose between heating their homes or feeding their children this winter? Our country is toast.

Nationwide, about 52% of our power comes from coal. The issue is not that coal pollutes, which it does, nor that it is mildly radioactive, which it is. Every human activity pollutes to some extent. The issue is to what extent that pollution is materially harmful to our health and well being. Only from that sound foundation can sound policy be derived.
However, EPA pollution standards are constantly moving in one direction and are increasingly arbitrary and disconnected from sound science. Their main effect is not to clean up the air, but to continually destroy the capital investments of electric utilities. Once pollution levels have been reduced to a low level, further reductions are increasingly costly from a capital and operating cost basis, and any changes in health effects are increasingly hard to quantify from the very general data of morbidity and mortality rates.
Further, the bureaucrat can only assess policy results using data that has a great time lag, for statistics often are at least two years removed from when they were collected and processed by yet a different government bureaucracy, and any health effects take years and decades to be manifested in changes in data. So, increasingly speculative statistical and methodological steps are taken in an effort to tease information out of the static and noise. When this is filtered through the policy-making apparatus, we are too often assured that the effect of certain pollutant can be ascertained to 3 significant digits!
We have recently seen this in the comparison between deaths caused by smoking and deaths caused by second-hand smoke.
My own utility, a rural electric coop, has sent its members a letter saying they are now examining participation in building a nuclear power plant at great expense not so much because of cost of these new rules but because of policy uncertainty. Their nightmare is that this round of new pollution control expenditures will not be the last, and every round gets more expensive.

What no one is talking about is that these new EPA regulations are to control greenhouse gases. The new rules are in clear violation of the Clean Air Act that has been in effect for a decade. So as Obama lets one of his goons clamp down on 26 states, the EPA took this very action against Texas 8 months ago (are you beginning to think Obama has something against Texas?).
In December, 2010, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed against the EPA for violation of the Clean Air Act and usurpting the 10th Amendment based on faulty, bogus science. Remember, Obama was very clear about his intentions saying that under his plan, energy costs would necessarily skyrocket.
Let’s hope that Texas, who has the cajones to stand up to Obama, prevails in its law suit and can prove that all these plans are based on Al Bore’s junk science (that lines his pockets very well, thank you) and allows sanity to prevail. Odd that the guru, Lisa Jackson, didn’t make note that there has been no global warming since 1998, and in fact, the earth is cooling.

If there is something we can do to reduce pollution it seems we should and the only right time is now, otherwise there will never be a right time. With any luck this will make renewable energy sources more affordable in comparison as that is the only right answer in the long run. So stop crying and don’t buy that new xbox for your kids, they’ll be better off without it anyway.
