Michele Bachmann Responds to the Daily Caller Hit Piece: “My Ability to Function Has Never Been Impeded by Migraines”

Conservative Michele Bachmann responded today to the hit piece published at the Daily Caller last night.
The popular conservative writes, “My ability to function has never been impeded by migraines.”
It looks like The Daily Caller owes her an apology.
From the Michele Bachmann website:

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has issued the following statement in response to reports of her experiencing migraines:

“Like nearly 30 million other Americans, I experience migraines that are easily controlled with medication. I am a wife, a mother, a lawyer who worked her way through law school, a former state senator who achieved the repeal of a harmful piece of education policy in Minnesota, and a congresswoman who has worked tirelessly fighting against the expansion of government and wasteful spending.

“Since entering the campaign, I have maintained a full schedule between my duties as a congresswoman and as a presidential candidate traveling across the nation to meet with voters in the key, early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. I have prescription medication that I take whenever symptoms arise and they keep the migraines under control. Let me be abundantly clear – my ability to function effectively has never been impeded by migraines and will not affect my ability to serve as Commander in Chief.

“The many questions I have received on this subject have allowed me to discuss this important condition that impacts individuals in nearly one in four households. However, as a presidential candidate and office holder, I am focused on performing my job, which has never been more important given the state of our economy and the millions of Americans that are out of work. While I appreciate the concern for me and my health, the greater concern should be the debate that is occurring in Washington over whether or not we will increase our debt, spending and taxes.”

This is a big deal. I know someone close to me with cluster headaches and cannot even hold down a full time job because of it, much less be a congressman (and definitely not President)

I don’t know obviously how serious her migraines are, but the piece mentioned being hospitalized frequently… Uhh the hospital cannot do anything to stop a serious migraine. The medications, which include $30 a pill tryptamines which may work 10% of the time, and narcotics which don’t do anything for the pain, other than dull it by 10% at most.

BTW- The thought of somebody waiting in the emergency waiting room with a head splitting headache is beyond comedy. Screaming kids with a cluster headache? I’d kill myself

I support Bachmann, but I really don’t know what to make of this story.

This is ludicrous! I have suffered with migraines, and also take a prescription remedy. Like Mrs. Bachmann, my prescription works just fine eliminating my headaches. I work as a letter carrier, and haven’t missed so much as ONE day with a headache. Sounds like SOMEONE is trying their damnedest to besmirch a good name. Shame, shame!!

About Bachmann being hospitalized, the news stories about it that I can find are reports of ONE trip to the hospital last summer for an undisclosed illness. From there, she went home, from where she continued to work, including giving a remote interview from home the following day. For all we know, she could have had food poisoning (happens a lot to people traveling, with all of the food from restaurants and chow grabbed on the go), the symptoms of which could have included an embarrassing case of diarrhea, punctuated by gastric explosions and projectile vomiting, enough to go with, simply, “undisclosed illness.” The dehydration such symptoms would cause might require a few hours at the hospital, hooked to an IV bag of Gator Ade.

There is no proof of hospitalizations (plural), much less frequent hospitalizations, or even that her “undisclosed illness” had jack to do with migraine headaches.

Michelle as a woman knows that being a working mother of her children and many foster children the work day does not stop! Neither would her preference to golf or vacation stop her from being GOOD at anything she commits herself to! This hit piece came today, perhaps b/c she released a statement on the Pigford scandal. Or perhaps it was b/c she took the lead in polls.

Are they afraid they are going to lose the job they already left? If you want to run your mouth, at least have the cajones to back it up with who you are.

Now, cluster headaches are different than migranes. I suffered from migranes for years but new medication, taken at the very onset (yes, you can tell they are coming on) will allow you to function just fine, thank you. Never missed a day of work because of one you just have to carry your meds with you.

But again, why put so much stock into what someone says when they are not willing to reveal their identity? Sounds a bit suspecious to me.

She was really slurring her words and mixing up her statements, if you listen carefully. She really sounded like a long-term drug abuser. Don’t believe me, just watch the video for yourself..

I think she could clear up all this controversy by taking a drug test. That way, we’d be absolutely sure she is prepared to occupy the highest office in the land.

When they come, you know they are! Your vision appears to be like a flashcube from a camera went off in your face. Thats when you KNOW to get your medicine IMMEDIATELY! Sufferers of migraines carry the medicine with us at all times, and once you catch it early and take the injection, it is over in 30 minutes or less.

I am a retired Realtor, and let me tell you, it NEVER stopped me from doing my job, any job! And the medication that is used does NOT make you high or incapacitated. THIS has nothing to do with MB doing her job, and the Daily Caller should be ashamed of themselves. How desperate, and people that dont have migraines dont know what the hell they are talking about!

I get migraines. I am telling you that when one hits I am pretty much worthless. I have to stay in a quiet, dark space until my vision returns and the pain subsides. I also have to let the medication to lessen in my system. It exhausts me and makes me sick to my stomach.

Not sure if that is how it affects Bachmann. The good thing for me is that I rarely get one of them. They are very rare.

There is absolutely NO coverage on Cain or even on Romney I’ve noticed, and both could win against Obama in a debate–of course we can count on Obama’s “personal trainer” (read sex partner, drug provider) with providing both before debates so Obama can present at his best.

Okay, I’m done vomiting now.

Also, count on the Dems to go ahead and RUIN and DESTROY and STEAL as much of our country as they can, while they can. They’ve shut down travel, shut down medical care, shut down energy, shut down information, shut down freedom in housing and other markets. They, like all dictators before them are rich and are busy shutting down any conceivable competition.
