Former Congressional Budget Office director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, appeared on CNBC this morning. He panned the White House’s insistence on granting President Obama a blank check that gets him past the 2012 election. “The president doesn’t want to talk about his record of debt between now and and the election and everyone knows that.”

Via Speaker Boehner’s blog:

White House Is Making Political Argument “Wrapped In Economic Clothing.” “Look, to my eye this has all been political. The desire to get to 2013 can get wrapped in economic clothing but it’s fundamentally a political argument. The president doesn’t want to talk about his record of debt between now and the election and everyone knows that. They had a deal. And the deal was sitting there, waiting to be taken, and at the moment when they could get the deal they pushed for more taxes, which is a political argument at the expense of less entitlement reform, which is the substantive problem.”

  1. Boy howdy, old big ears is just getting it from everybody now. Could it be that FINALLY some people with the voice and the power are saying ENOUGH? Git er Done.

  2. So they’re admitting that entitlement reform is a substantive problem? It’s a start.

  3. You have got to feel sorry for the fools who remain under the impression that Zippy is somehow trying to improve their lot in life.

It’s all about him, him and him. Wake up, you lefties. He’s just using you. He doesn’t care one whit about this country or your future.

  4. take the checkbook away from obama now

  5. “The president doesn’t want to talk about his record of debt between now and and the election and everyone knows that.”

This needs to be repeated early, often, and everywhere.

  6. I’m from Wisconsin and I’m thinking ……the fleebagger Senators who left our state for two months are hailed as heroes here (not by me) but they definitely won the message war against Governor Walker – albeit temporarily. Why shouldn’t Boehnner and Cantor and McCarthy (et al) get the heck out of DC and stage a similar dog and pony show? It would clearly articulate the message that the current GOP – the younger less BOTOXIFIED ones (sorry Mitch) – couold show the nation that they will hold the front line until reinforcements come via 2012 elections and…..the lamestream media could not ignore the dog and pony show.

Get outside of the box you are trapped in at ANY cost – we are trying to survive until we take the Senate and the White House and we will do everything we can before we completely walk away into a third party apocalypse.

  7. He trying to get more money to buy vote for 2012.

  8. Somehow I don’t think fleebagging Republicans would be quite the MSM heroes as fleebagging Democrats.

  9. The class warfare, commie $cumb@gas are staring at at the precipice: the end of their power. To keep America from going broke they can no longer give them tax money to buy votes.

They cannot compromise to their destruction. They first will ruin us.

  10. Kathteach, the problem with what you propose lies with the MSM. Republicans won’t get the kid glove treatment that the Wisconsin Dems got if they walk out on this. Right or wrong, they will be crucified. No, this is adult time. They need to stay the course. Hold firm on cut, cap, and balance, and don’t give Obama the money he’s trying to get for his reelection, but stay firmly committed to the fight. The majority of America is behind them at this point, and unless they cave, America will STAY behind them. It will be difficult for the MSM to win the propaganda war if they don’t cave or run, and keep repeating their position at every opportunity.

  11. Take the big guns out of the holsters. America is behind you, GOP. It’s do or die time.

  12. To Guy in Ohio: You never know until you try it. Their is risk involved -sure – but every single small business owner I know (and I am married to one and was one for ten years) takes a lot of risk to try and put out there a product or service they believe the community needs. Risk is a big part of the life of people who rise in the real world. Why shouldn’t risk be a part of the lives of our newly elected Congresspeople? TAKE A RISK is a huge American tenet. Why are we so afraid of this in the GOP?

My newly elected Senator Ron Johnson knows all about this kind of risk (WI- elected in 2010) and he did not got to DC to be a Senator with all the hoop-de-la involved. He went to DC to save our country. It is that serious.

Let the maintream or lamestream media pick and choose but I GUARANTEE you they would pay attention to a GOP walkout ala Wisconsin fleebaggers.

Why the heck do we let the Dems get away with all the showmanship and gimmicks and we deride them but we are like Boy Scouts and would never think of doing such a thing.

Honestly. Things are this serious. We need to get the White House this badly. We need to get the Senate this badly.

Let’s stop pontificating about our views. Let’s act as outrageously as we can and encourage our elected reps to do so with the promise we will back them with our weekly pizza or fast food money?

This is the only way the GOP will win without a third party to doom us. I promise you.

  13. Actually it looks as if Obama is making additional holes in the Titantics hull to “let the water drain out quicker.”

Every people gets the government it deserves. Thank all you folks who voted for hopey changy.

  14. Stand firm against this marxist administration. NO MORE SPENDING

  15. It’s time to play imagine if George W Bush had said this…

–”So here’s what we’re going to do. We have now run out of time. I told Speaker Boehner, I’ve told Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, I’ve told Harry Reid, and I’ve told Mitch McConnell I want them here at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. We have run out of time. And they are going to have to explain to me how it is that we are going to avoid default. And they can come up with any plans that they want and bring them up here and we will work on them. The only bottom line that I have is that we have to extend this debt ceiling through the next election, into 2013.”–

This might just be the most self serving, overtly political statement any president has ever made.

  18. RE#9 –WHEN AFTER PRESENTING TWO OPPOSING VIEWS, FOX NEWS SAYS THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED ONLY BY (THE HEGELIAN-DIALECTIC) CONSENSUS, A STATEMENT THAT FLIES RIGHT BY 99% OF AMERICANS, THEN COMMIES ARE NOT STANDING AT THE PRECIPICE, THEY HAVE CONTROL OF THE MEDIA.
