It’s her fault.

Any smear will do.

Now the media is blaming Michele Bachmann for teen suicides in Minnesota. The article first published in Mother Jones has made its way to the front page of Yahoo news.
Yahoo reported:

An article in the liberal magazine Mother Jones criticizes Rep. Michele Bachmann(R-Minn) for her silence on a tragic string of nine suicides over the past two years in her district. The writer argues that Bachmann’s refusal to support antibullying legislation in the state in 2006 and the agenda favored by some of her anti-gay allies in Minnesota may have contributed to a harmful environment. And that climate, Mother Jones reporter Stephanie Mencimer suggests, could have played a role in the teen deaths in the troubled Anoka-Hennepin school district where Bachmann herself had once attended high school.

The story has quickly traveled around news sites, with The Daily Beast/Newsweek featuring it in an enormous banner headline earlier this morning: “TEEN SUICIDES SWEEP BACHMANN DISTRICT.” The Daily Beast write-up of the piece noted that state health and education officials have designated the school district a suicide contagion area.

In July 2009, the district–which has a policy requiring school employees to be “neutral” about homosexuality in front of students–settled with a student for $25,000 who said two teachers had harassed him for being gay. Four of the nine students who died by suicide in the district were believed to have faced harassment stemming either from a gay sexual orientation or from the perception among pers that they might have been gay.

Bachmann refused Mother Jones’ request to comment on the deaths, and has not previously offered comment on them. In 2006, she argued against an antibullying bill, saying at the time: “I think for all us our experience in public schools is there have always been bullies, always have been, always will be. I just don’t know how we’re ever going to get to point of zero tolerance and what does it mean? … What will be our definition of bullying? Will it get to the point where we are completely stifling free speech and expression? Will it mean that what form of behavior will there be—will we be expecting boys to be girls?”

Funny… We never saw the liberal media blame Obama for gang violence in Chicago but blaming Michele Bachmann for teen suicides in Minnesota is completely acceptable to the liberal media.

  1. Same o same o…..

  2. You could not seriously associate Obama with gang violence, since he would never get close to anyone that smelly and besides he once spoke of the need to end gang violence, so why haven’t they stopped?

  3. How many teen suicides were there in Obama’s district since he was elected? I’m pretty sure most of them could be tied to the sorrr state of the Obama economy.

  4. Two teachers harassed the student for being gay.

Would those be two members of the leftist teachers’ union?

  5. And she’s also directly responsible for ingrown toe nails, headaches, nail fungus, dandruff, pink-eye, and head lice. Recently collected data supports the proposition that Michelle Bachmann is also responsible for teen pregnancy, STD’s, and flash mobs!

    oh wait..

government funded via we the people’s backs..

The ministry announcement said, “In an interview earlier this year,
MSNBC’s president Phil Griffin admitted that the network, to boost its
ratings, caters to the so-called ‘progressive left.’ This explains the
malicious attacks on Bradlee Dean and his ministry, which are being
used to harm the presidential campaign of Congresswoman Michele
Bachmann, who is a conservative Christian.”

The organization explained in the past, Dean and his ministry have
been complemented by presidential candidate Michele Bachmann for
their work in promoting values for the nation’s youth.

“The left wing media’s effort to defame Dean is an obvious way to
try to harm Bachmann’s presidential prospects,” the group said.]

    yes, yes, i like it..

    re: #6

    meant to highlight the following:

Phil Griffin admitted that the network, to boost its
ratings, caters to the so-called ‘progressive left.’

  8. And in another shocking development, Fox News admitted that it catered to the conservative right! (was that really worth posting, guys?)

Meanwhile, I don’t try to blame Bachmann for those things that are not in her control–say, the alleged bullying complicity—I just take issue with the fact that she seems completely devoid of intellectual, cognitive, psycho-social, and political ability. I don’t trust pols who align themselves so closely to religious types, a la Khomeini…

  9. “Four of the nine students who died by suicide in the district were believed to have faced harassment stemming either from a gay sexual orientation or from the perception among pers that they might have been gay.”

Four of the nine were either gay or perceived gay? Believed to have…? Friggin’ article is loaded with facts.

So the fact that there are bullies is Bachmann’s fault and her taking a stand one way or another would have prevented all these deaths?

    Damned idiots.

  10. Funny, we never saw Obama blamed for the slums of South Chicago, HIS district when he was state senator:

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/obama_and_south_chicago_slum_d.html

    Hmmmm……

  11. Is the suicide rate in that district any higher or lower than a similar district in a similar state? That Yahoo is using Mother Jones as a source is all you need to know.

If it ran in the Enquirer, it may be credible news…but it didn’t.

  12. The difference I think is Obama, if asked, would oppose gang violence in his legislative area. Bachmann doesn’t condemn bullying – for any reason per her statement above. She says it stifles “free speech” to stop someone from bullying. The suicides are not her direct fault but I also don’t agree with her attitude that kids are kids and it’s not the schools job to protect them from unreasonable bullying. And sorry, I find bullying someone for being gay (or appearing gay) unreasonable. Just like it’s unfair to bully someone for being red haired or handicapped or unattractive.

  13. You liberal pieces of crap!!! Thats like OH YEA, the spoon made me fat, or anything that can be use as a weapon kills people, not the idiot that uses it for the crime . That type of thinking is why this country is in the shape it is!!!

  14. The Lefts world is based in lies and half truths, expecting them to do other wise is akin to teasing a snake, your going to get burned. Best just to destroy it before it gets you.

  15. Why only Minnesota? Why not the entire country, or the globe, or the Universe?

  16. The media never made the link between the abysmal Chicago education system and the people Obama imported from Chicago to form his education policies.

  17. Homosexuals commited suicide at a far higher rate no matter what state or country they are in.

This is because homosexuality is a symptom of an underlining mental/emotional disorder

In countries where homosexuality is more accepted , the higher the rates of suicides are. This is the result of ingoring an obvious symptom of distress and instead just leaving the sufferer to their own devices

  18. gee you mean its not the fault of anti-depressants. what are we going to sue for now.

  19. The bright side is the various ‘media’ outlets that promote such absurdities are ‘outing’ themselves.

Any previous doubters can add Yahoo to the untrustable far left media list.

  20. People who can not accept their natural body are mentally unstable no matter what the psychologists say and i have never seen what the statistics are for suicide of gays versus the normal people but i suspect that gays opt out of life at a higher rate. Suicide is rarely a rational act.

  21. Remember the kids freezing in Rezko’s apt buildings in Chicago?

For more than five weeks during the brutally cold winter of 1997, tenants suffered without any heat in a government-subsidized apartment building
    …..
The building’s owner — Rezmar Corporation — didn’t bother to turn on the heat for weeks. In fact, it didn’t do so until it was sued.
    …..
At least a dozen times, Rezmar had to be sued in order to simply turn on the heat in its properties.
…. during the brutal winter of 1997, even while Rezmar refused to heat its Englewood apartments, it was donating $1,000 to state senator Obama’s campaign fund.
    …..
Rezko helped raise a quarter of a million dollars for Obama’s various campaigns.
….While Obama didn’t expend an ounce of energy to protest Rezko’s outrageous violations, he did take time to write letters on behalf of Rezko in his efforts to secure an additional $14 million in taxpayer funds.

check out the dog trying to act like a bird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. how many of the suicides had been sexually abused before age 12?

A recent CDC survey showed that 40 percent of gay teenagers reported intercourse before age 12…LINK

But it’s unclear if all of these suicides were of gay or bisexual student…the report doesn’t say they all are, although the propaganda machine says they are.

  24. Imagine all those NYTimes commiting suicide. They must have been dating Barney Frank.

  25. Mutha Jones went off the deep end a long time ago. This is just plain stupid.

  26. The media mafia have a great communications system. This article is a terrific example how they circulate their news.

  27. Look, I like the woman, but she has a major “gay” problem that the media will never let go away. Let’s face it, she is quite homophobic.

  28. Jim (#29), I don’t know if she is homophobic or not. What does “homophobic” really mean anyway? That someone jumps on a chair and shrieks everytime they encounter a Gay? Are they frightened by Gays? No. The term is used by the Left to marginalize those that don’t like or believe in the lifestyle. But they can still be fair, and mostly are. Name an instance when Bachmann wasn’t?
