Dear God. This was a slaughter.
Crazed gunman Anders Behring Breivik slaughtered 80 youths on Utoya Island on Friday.
Dressed as a policeman, he lured the children over, loaded his gun and shot them dead. He shot at the children while they were trying to swim away to safety. There were 500 children on the island attending camp.

The children were attending camp.
The AP reported:
A Norwegian who dressed as a police officer to gun down summer campers killed at least 80 people at an island retreat, horrified police said early Saturday. It took investigators several hours to begin the realize the full scope of Friday’s massacre, which followed an explosion in nearby Oslo that killed seven and that police say was set off by the same suspect.
The mass shootings are among the worst in history. With the blast outside the prime minister’s office, they formed the deadliest day of terror in Western Europe since the 2004 Madrid train bombings killed 191.
Police initially said about 10 were killed at the forested camp on the island of Utoya, but some survivors said they thought the toll was much higher. Police director Oystein Maeland told reporters early Saturday they had discovered many more victims.
“It’s taken time to search the area. What we know now is that we can say that there are at least 80 killed at Utoya,” Maeland said. “It goes without saying that this gives dimensions to this incident that are exceptional.”
It was a slaughter.
Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers.

Incomprehensible horror. Words just fail me right now.

Time to close the gates of Hell.
God bless parents, and all people who love children, tonight. May He give them strength and wisdom in the days to come.

Something is not right here. Can a lone shooter slaughter 80 people running frantically in all directions? I don’t believe that he acted alone. He was also said to have been seen in Oslo at the time the bombings. This, too, seems suspect. This was too massive an operation, both in planning and execution, to be the work one man, however dedicated and organized he is.
What a tragic loss of life.

This was like lambs to the slaughter. I do not believe this was the work of one man.
kato commented:
I agree with the above. Horrible crime, but could it all be the work of one man? There is obviously a lot more to this story that is still to be learned.

Something is rotten in Denmark……er….
Anyway, the jump to label the shooter as a lone wolf “right” wing domestic terrorist “like Timothy McVeigh” and “Oklahoma City” without one iota of an investigation into the shooter’s background reminds me of…..gee…….Tucson?
And how about the fallacious argument that, since he’s not a muzzie terrorist, he must therefore be a “right” wing terrorist? No such thing as a lefty terrorist, eh? They have no way of knowing what the motivation was. For all we know, he’s a leftwing ecoterrorist shooting people for being on the island…..protecting a natural wonderland, etc..
This was an awful event……all those people, those young people. But this commentary from a public official before any investigation has been done is grossly irresponsible. It’s right out of Sheriff Dipstick’s playbook down in Tucson (Gabrielle Giffords shooting).
I’m horrified and disgusted.
Guy in Ohio commented:
Sadly, it’s pretty easy to slaughter a lot of people when they’re trapped on an island, and nobody but the shooter has a weapon. I can’t think of a better illustration of the benefits of making concealed carry legal world wide, nor can I think of a better example of the stupidity of some of the restrictions they’ve placed on permit holders. Ya just gotta love those “gun free” zones …
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their friends, and their families. I also pray that the deaths of these poor people will not be in vain …

What an evil monster.
May Denmark never forget these children…and may God grant peace and strenth to the families of the victims.
Denmark, the United States stands by your side in this horrible tragedy.

Speaking Clearly, it’s Norway.
And something doesn’t fit here. Simply because of this:
“6.09pm: NRK is reporting that an unknown group called “Helpers of the Global Jihad” have posted a message that this is only the beginning of the reaction to Norwegian periodicals publishing the Muhammed cartoons, according to Andrew Boyle, a journalist in Norway.”
A few other papers and outlets reported similar.
How does the claimed responsibility for the blast by “Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami” fit into this?
How can one guy, dressed as a cop, lure all those kids to him? And in order to shoot so many people, he would have to carry more than 100 rounds. Reportedly he had 3 firearms registered to him. He wouldn’t be able to use all three.
No, something doesn’t fit here.
Yes, it’s easy to shoot many people on a small island, but, if they run into all directions, you have to pick one direction if you’re alone, that would never lead to such a death toll.
No, something simply doesn’t fit here. And the Norwegian government and political caste has a long history if lying to the people.
Andreas K. commented:
Also notice how quick politicians around the world are to condemn this. When a jihadi blows something up, they’re usually all silent. The latest incidents in A-stan and Pa-stan didn’t bring any such reactions as far as I remember. Even though the difference is trivial. If they condemn this, then why are they not condemning what happened in the Stans? Gotta love all those double standards. Or maybe it’s because it’s expected to happen in places like the Stans?
Surely this means that the EU must bring even more money into the “fight against the right wing”.
On the other hand I’m inclined to say that this attack is “good”. Now before you all jump me with tar and feathers let me finish this thought. This attack proves that Europe is not invulnerable. A lot of people have already forgotten that since London and Madrid. But, I know, they’ll forget it again. Because “Germany’s Next Top Model” is more important.
Overall I think it’s a shape of things to come. Europe will burn. And I like that thought very much.

The survivors are confirming that it was only one man armed with a pistol and at least one long rifle described as either an M-16 or a machine gun.
There are two elements that can explain this slaughter:
First, it took the police a long time to bring a specialized SWAT-type unit from Oslo to the island. The unit had to prepare itself, travel the distance, and then collect the boats to get to the island. Regular Norwegian cops are constables more than anything else. They aren’t trained to deal with with a heavily armed spree killer.
Second, Norwegians simply weren’t prepared for this kind of thing. I lived in Norway for several years. Norwegians tend to believe in the whole feel-good, multi-culti, global citizen thing. Here’s a totally horrifying quote from a kid named Adrian Pracon who survived the shootings:
“Some of my friends tried to stop him by talking to him. Many people think on the island that it was a test … comparing it to how it is to live in Gaza. So many people went to him and tried to talk to him, but they were shot immediately.”
These were kids who wanted to be in the Labor Party. They’re leftists. They’re idealists who think that there are no real evil people, and that logic, appeasement, and negotiation will solve everything. They tried to use their ideals on this murderous bastard, and of course it didn’t work.
It doesn’t surprise me that so many kids were killed. They were defenseless on many different levels. They depended on government to protect them, and it couldn’t.

It is because of quotes like that they get no sympathy…
This whole so-called camp was a radical Jew hating, Israel bashing indoctrination session from some of the worse anti-semites in Europe…
Compared to Gaza? Like children are randomly killed in Gaza? by whom, Israel of course!
How about compared to being blown up in Tel-Aviv?
Lets wait for the whole truth to come out…
In the meantime so many fewer “peace-activist Flotilla,” volunteers for next time…
Sounds harsh, but I am sick of these Eurotrash Jew hating filth…

Ian #14, I had the same thought. Do they imagine that Israeli soldiers are roaming around Gaza randomly killing people? The Norwegian view of Israel and the Palis is bizarre.

It’s way too early to start slamming the kids for being in a position to be slaughtered.
In fact, for decent human beings, it’ll always be way too early for that. That’s the kind of knee-jerk, BS the left is so proud of.
Let the news process develop. (You know reporters always get the first three or four rounds of “facts” totally wrong.) Then tell the truth about it. Then give your opinion.
Right now the only thing we should be offering up is prayers for those who were murdered.
