The Club for Growth released this video showing 20 sitting Democrats saying they supported a balanced budget.
They don’t. They lied.
Senate democrats this morning rejected the House budget that included a balanced budget provision. Dem leader Harry Reid said it was “weak and senseless.”

  1. Dem leader Harry Reid said it was “weak and senseless.”

Of course he did. Power is having money to give to someone else.

  2. Demorats lied?
I am shocked, oh the humanity.

  3. Ignore what they say. Watch what the the shameless liars do.

  4. Pubs should now offer this plan:

    1) raise debt ceiling $200 billion
    2) all the increase must be used to cover national debt interest payments only
    3) cut 2012 spending by $200 billion

Let Obama and the Democrats refuse that one, and they own the government shutdown.

Then every time you run up on the debt ceiling you repeat this.

  5. Losing by 5 votes is not exactly DOA. I understand Sen. Reid’s position that this is about abortions for everyone, perks for union thugs, deficits as far as the eye can see, blah, blah, blah. It will be so nice when this whiner is the minority leader.

  6. The way you run this out is that the House, almost daily if needed, offers a short-term plan that cuts spending in some reasonable way (even if modest, the cuts must be real) in return for a short-term increase in the debt ceiling. Make the Democrats the party of ‘no’.

A suggestion: offer to increase the debt ceiling by some modest amount if all funding for high-speed rail in 2012 is cancelled. Or pick another favorite of the progressives that has little support in the public as large.

  7. Could expect no less from a democrat!!

  8. How on earth shall we ‘invest in infrastructure’ if the budget is balanced?

  9. As if under a spell, the entire democrat party and their press corps will abandon their integrity, honor, self respect, and dignity in support of the political machinations of Barack Hussein Obama, our non-muslim President.
What sort of collective insanity is this? Any mental health experts out there?

  10. So, the Senate that has been neglectful in doing its duty to create any budget at all since Obama took office, rejects the only real budget proposed and offered up for a vote. Where is the Senate plan for a budget? Where is Obama’s leadership with a budget plan? It appears to me that the ones without plans want this country to financially default, despite the protestations from the left to the contrary.

  11. Any mental health experts out there?

They don’t care. Like I say in #1: For an Envy-party like the Dems: if you have no money to give to certain interest groups, you have no power.

  12. #5 Fincrisp; nicer to see him gone

  13. Only the naive and Republican congressmen believe anything that Demorats say. One should never forget that the principle liberal axiom is that any means is justified by the ends. Interesting how well that dovetails with the Islamic taqiyya principle.

  14. “Democrat” is a synonym for “liar”.
I guess that “Republican” is a synonym for “clueless”.

  15. The communists lied? I don’t believe it!

  16. I have a feeling a number of House Republicans are going to be introduced to the Obama cash machine this weekend. What I mean if he’s probably going to try to bribe them to vote for a bad debt plan just like he greased the wheels of so many Dems to get Obamacare passed.

  17. Hey socialist party, I hear a 20 seat gain for the

Republicans in 2012, and the WH.

Watch and believe. Powder is dry

  18. I was watching Sen. Lindsey Graham last night, talking about the lack of discussion about CC&B, but could not find the clip.

    I did find this. http://video.foxnews.com/v/1064319371001/can-congress-meet-debt-deadline

Sen. Graham is making sense. It is as important to catch Republicans being good as it is to catch the talking heads lying about it.

  19. Can’t wait to see more of Harry Reid’s sneering disdain for the very idea of balancing the budget…in next year’s campaign ads.

  20. The Debt Ceiling Debate is FUBAR! I blame BOTH sides.

  21. They were only in favor of it when Bush was in the white house. I think the Republicans should really push this issue. Here was a chance to raise the debt limit with common sense attached the Dems just threw it to the junk pile.

  22. What is the Congress doing besides this debt stuff. It loks very much like we can have a
part-time congress, 90days. Plus a 10day session to clean up some year end business.About Thanksgiving time. The American people thanking the lord for the Congress being home most of the year.
Then the Congrssers can have THEIR OWN jobs. And be with the wife and kids. No squeezes, no Out of wed kids. No apts or condos unless they pay for it. Or we, the People could generously set up “D.C.Meadows” a trailer park for them to live in while in town:single-wides,chock-a-block.

Send the WH the plan -No debt increase and 2 trillion in cuts starting in Sept ’11. No far-off cuts.CUTS NOW. So we cansee them.If the choice is defense or paying SS or medicare or funding the Departments of Energy or Education, we choose the former and scotch the 2 Cabinet Departments.
This budget/Debt thing is Obama and jarrett and Axel controlling the news and wasting time.A stage play.

  23. Like I always say, that is ok to lie to the infidels. They follow the ” liar in chief”. They do the devils work, because he is the father of lies.

  24. WHERE WAS THE GANG OF 6 FOR THE BEST SOLUTION FOR AMERICA????????
With a vote of 51-46, the GANG OF 6 HAD A CHANCE TO DO WHAT WAS BEST FOR ALL!
    AND BLEW IT!!!

  25. A balanced budget is “weak and senseless”. HOT DAMN! that means I can run up my credit cards to the max. I can get that $5000 Breitling watch and a whole new wardrobe. I can get that Porsche I’ve been lusting after and spend, spend, spend. To do otherwise would be “weak and senseless”.

Ok, Mut, can you give us a hand with this? The balanced budget amendment is being proposed as a means of enforcing a discipline that Congress has been unable to impose upon itself, both parties. If there’s another way, or a modification that needs to be made to this current (tabled) proposal, let’s hear it.

  27. #22 – There is no such thing as RAISING this debt ceiling WITH COMMON SENSE!

The Debt Ceiling WE HAVE has allowed spending so far out of control as to be destroying this nation AS IT IS!

The only Common Sense solution is to DROP that Debt Ceiling and SLASH the spending, Slash the size of the Govt offices left standing after DISMANTLING all the insipid and assinine Offices that have no COMMON SENSE reason or CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS for existing, such as Homeland Security, the Interior Dept and EPA, the NEA/PBS/NPR, Ed Dept, Commerce Dept. FCC, payments to the UN, Embassies to nations we have no business for safety reasons even being, Foreign Aid to our enemies, Liberal Research Grants, supporting University classes and degrees that are patently ridiculous and enemies of America on their face – designed to give entrenched positions of power to Liberal Marxists… with unemployment in the USA among the Private Sector over 18% REAL – the Government has over 99% Job Security, numbers released just in the last few days. At Triple and more salary rates, with Bennies and Pensions and Bonuses UNHEARD OF in the Private Sector.

Davy Crockett and his Farmer Friend NAIL THE ISSUE in “Not Yours To Give”.

SO SIMPLE, NOBODY CAN MISUNDERSTAND IT!

The same way your parents balanced their household budget with a mortgage and a car loan.

  29. So this is what “democracy” looks like. Lie to your constituents. Point the blame at the opposition. Deny debate. Deny the will of the people. We will remember in 2012.

  30. Democrats always lie with there hands wide open aksing for handouts from goverment, always. Harry Read should not be reelected when primaries come around.

  31. What that stupid Reid doesn’t seem to understand is that he needs the Congress more than the Congress needs the Senate. Congress is the only body that can pass bills without the okay of the Senate. Without the Congress Reid won’t be able to do a damn thing. And the C C, B is not dead. It is the job of the Senate to make whatever changes a bill sent to them by the Congress needs so that BOTH Houses come to a bill that “is in agreement” . That means Reid HAS to work with the Republicans’ whether he likes it or not. Otherwise the Houses will be in impass and the government shuts down on August 2. How is Reid going to justify that?

I hate that little four eye’d weasle, he is exactly a perfect example of who Mr. Scrouge would look like. Some shunk up, bitter, hateful, little, government lacky who has no future and doesn’t give a crap about anyone but himself. If you wanted something from him you would know that you are going to have to back up to his desk. Reid gets all the honor for not having to do anything for it. If anyone needed to be hunted down, it would be him and his crooked son’s to.

I can’t even think straight with him standing in the way. He thinks that cutting spending is meaningless, he thinks capping spending is weak, he thinks that balancing the budget is a waste of time? What can you tell a weak minded little screwball like him. I can’t even say anything constructive about him because he can’t be reasoned with. He’s like Pelosi, he just hates for the sake of hate. He hates Republican’s like Pelosi, and many others who want the Republican’s to just shut up and do what they are told to do like they’ve always been. Reid would be real surprised if all the RINO’s were gone and real conservatives didn’t take his little crap. They would know what the Constitution says and would enforce it with U.S. Marshall’s.

Like last night I was listening to Mark Levin, and some guy came on and was talking about all these legislator’s who were violating the law, like immigration. And Mark said, “Yeah, I understand, but I just don’t know what to do about it.” And instantly I knew what to do and that is you send in the U.S. Marshall’s and you arrest these legislator’s. I believe that alot of them need to go to jail for constantly breaking the law right in front of camera’s. That would jerk a knot in their butts I’ll tell you that! People like Harry Reid needs to go to jail. What would he do about it, sue somebody? Get one of his crook son’s to press charges against somebody? Once in jail a conservative from the Republican Party needs to go to where he’s being kept and make sure charges are pressed against him so that he would have to go before a judge and bond set, or not, and when his trial would begin. He needs to go through that. I’ll bet you it would change his attitude reeeaallll fast!

  32. Why do we have to raise the debt ceiling? When you get in financial stress, do you have the right to demand your boss give you a raise, demand your credit card company up your limit so you can spend more?

We need to cut the waste, fraud and abuse that they all yammer about but never do anything about. Give Obama more money (that we don’t have and will have to borrow)and he will only spend it.

How many agencies in the federal goverment were created simply to give some pandering politician a job? How many agencies does it take to run the Bureau of Indian Affairs? Right now we have three, all doing the same thing as the BIA and none of them doing it efficiently. How about the Department of Education? Seen any improvement in our educational system? Or should that be a state function? EPA? Department of Consumer Affairs when every state in the union has one?

We MUST learn to live within our means. And as far as I am concerned, that include drug/alcohol testing everyone who receives some from of social welfare (public housing, food stamps, TANF, etc).

  33. Sen. Jim DeMint

    http://demint.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=JimsBlog&ContentRecord_id=8ac5e360-c664-461d-aa60-6bba5ab64791

“We don’t need another useless commission, and we don’t need more tax increases to grow the federal government even larger.

We need to cut spending, cap spending and pass a balanced budget amendment to force Washington to stop spending more than we’re bringing in.

No more tax-hike commissions. We must pass Cut, Cap & Balance.

3 Decades, 17 Commissions, Debt at $13 Trillion in New Debt”

The only thing that would make his blog entry better would be links to all the items — admittedly that would be quite a task.

  34. “I urge Republican leaders to stop letting the President to drag you back like children into secret meetings where he pretends to do something constructive.”
    http://usconstitutionalfreepress.wordpress.com/2011/07/22/senator-jim-demint-pledges-to-force-another-vote-on-ccb/

Atta baby Jim! Shame these spineless bastards.

  35. They lie, but that is not news unless you were just rescued from a desert isle that you were born on. Democrats LIE. Democrats LIE. Democrats LIE.
The modern left has embraced the views of Machiavelli concerning rulers deceiving, whenever beneficial, the populace they rule. Make no mistake, we are being ruled by the elites.
There is a serious consequence to providing government with ever-expanding power absent of moral restraint.
Our founders were wise enough to reject both unlimited government and those absent of universal moral restraint.
There was a time when the Christian ethic was dominant, which provided a number of useful, if not fundamentally required concepts, for limited government.
If you would like more on this, read The Theme is Freedom by M. Stanton Evans.
In the 90′s, deception at epic levels was defined as insignificant because it was a matter of private life.
This potus, and all of his cohorts, lie all the time, and yet they still are approved of by large numbers of people who, most likely, are equally depraved.
Does not paint a very rosy picture of the future does it?

  36. they always lie

  37. time to rescind the 17th Amendment-
Founders never intended the Senate to be put in by ‘popular vote’
see what happens when the liberals start messing w/ the Constitution!
we get a Senate like this—
    C-CS

  38. Saxby Chambliss

Bipartisan plan to reduce our deficits.

    http://chambliss.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=ec2df064-c619-4330-97a6-4f67233dd184

Sens. Chambliss and Conrad on PBS NewsHour, discussing Gang of Six Framework
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQXhV19oIRo

note: these men distinguish between tax rates and revenues. They recognize that lower tax rates can result in enhanced revenues.

Chambliss: We must address our nation’s fiscal crisis (Member of Gang of Six, supports CC&B). The Gang of Six proposal has gotten mixed up with the debt ceiling debate in a confusing manner.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXvWHh1-Dho&feature=relmfu

*I wish Sen. Chambliss had been more specific about what misinformation is being slung around. I understand his desire for comity, but I wish he had been specific enough to address the specific inaccurate facts.

  39. shut it down…no health care for senators, no pay checks, nothing….TERM LIMITS is what is needed…not one senator gives a $hit about america only about lining their pockets

  40. Dem leader Harry Reid said it was “weak and senseless.” Projecting again, eh Harry?

  41. One of the people who is confused is Sen. Ben Cardin D-Md.

    http://cardin.senate.gov/newsroom/press/release/cardin-calls-for-a-balanced-approach-to-solving-our-budget-crisis

I would submit that, if Ben Cardin wants an example of how a balanced budget amendment would work in a context similar to his own state, he need only look in his own backyard, to the Columbia Association of Columbia, Maryland. That organization is funded by contractual fees calculated on the basis of the value of parcels of land. It is required to balance it’s budget. That requirement, among other things, has safeguarded the organization through several severe housing bubbles. The budget for that organization is a bit of 50M, small by US government standards, but large enough to provide a reasonable economic model for limited purposes.

  42. #28 Rose – I didn’t mean raising the debt ceiling was common sense. I was referring to the cut, cap, and balance part of the bill as the common sense part.

  43. I have to bet..there were some “Threats” rendered to ANY Dem that didn’t vote against the bill saving America.

Hell or high water..the Dem leadership wants America Destroyed..

  44. Write your Senator immediately, let them know in no uncertain terms you blame them for this mess. Obviously, if they are not a newly elected member they are to blame and should pay the consequences. Mine’s Dick Durbin. All you get is a generic, go fly a kite response.

  45. Is it time to sharpen our pitchforks? Seems to me it was time when they “passed” 0bamacare.

  46. Rose, that link to Col. Davy Crockett’s speech was outstanding. Thank you for posting.

  47. Money was already allocated for “invest in infrastructure”. Didn’t you get yours?

  48. Repeat I know…Bill Clinton and the democrats killed the balanced budget amendement passed by the house circa 1994. It failed in the Senate by one vote from a turn-coat Republican. Had we tied the hands of the 536 idiots in Washington then, our present financial doomsday could have been painlessly avoided.

  49. What we YOU expecting? Truth , Justice and the American way from a Democrat? Oh please This Is Socialism taking hold .. They LIE.. They want to break the system.. Wake UP !!!
