Flashback: Obama the Candidate Excoriates Pakistan for Holding Talks With Taliban (Video)

Do you ever get the feeling we were duped?
Obama excoriated Pakistan for holding talks with the Taliban while running for president in 2008.

Barack Obama at a 2008 debate:

OBAMA: Katie, it’s a terrific question and we have a difficult situation in Pakistan. I believe that part of the reason we have a difficult situation is because we made a bad judgment going into Iraq in the first place when we hadn’t finished the job of hunting down bin Laden and crushing al Qaeda…

…But I do believe that we have to change our policies with Pakistan. We can’t coddle, as we did, a dictator, give him billions of dollars and then he’s making peace treaties with the Taliban and militants.

Fast-forward to 2011—
Afghan President Karzai yesterday confirmed that the Obama Administration is holding peace talks with the Taliban.

Reminder: All of Obama’s statements come with an expiration date.

Pay close attention to what Barry says.
Whatever he says…..he will do the exact opposite.

  • Is there even a response any more?

When will we as a nation truly say no more?

And Karzai will be the first one to welcome the taliban to Kabul. The guy only carse about his comfy chair. He’ll be just another tinpot dictator.

Why didn’t you nuke them. Short, cheap and simple. They kill 1,000 of us, we kill 10,000 of them. They kill 10,000 of us, we kill 100,000 of them. They kill 100,000 of us, we turn one of their countries into radiactive wasteland.

It’s the only language the islamo-fascists understand. Get that into your heads or you WILL turn into EU 2.0.

Send the folks on state draws in Greece to Afghanistan to work. 30,000 of them would
help the situation and then the Greeks could work for a few years as functioaries /

I thought Obama’s original statement was incandescently stupid, and yet there seemed to be a lot of people who said they thought it both persuasive and brilliant.

My question at the time was, “How do you expect to make peace, except by eventually negotiating with the enemy? Al-Qaeda were a bunch of foreigners holed up in a land unable to keep the peace. The Taliban, however, are indigenous. Once the foreigners and the worst of the bad guys are gone, there will still be elements of the Taliban among the local population. Eventually, there must be negotiation with them, if there is to be peace.

By the run-up to his presidential election, I would have expected BO and all the rest of the candidates show evidence that they understood the distinction between Al-Qaeda foreigners and Taliban locals. The other candidates did not seem to have trouble with this.

The problem with liars is they all have bad memories, which is their downfall.

Barry and his campaign are pinning their hopes on enough voters having amnesia about things since 20 Jan 2009.
