This smells funny.

A far left crank at The Guardian this week reported this week that “aides” to Margaret told tham that, “Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin… That would be belittling for Margaret – Sarah Palin is nuts.”
The Telegraph reported that the Sarah Palin snub enraged the US right.
One aide was quoted in The Guardian recently as saying: “Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin.
“That would be belittling for Margaret – Sarah Palin is nuts.”
After the comments were picked up in US publications, Limbaugh opened his show on Wednesday with a lengthy discussion of the issue.
“There’s a story out there today, and it’s an illustration of how things happen, how things are said and reported,” he said.
“This is preposterous, and I have personal knowledge of this.”
He went on to describe himself as a friend of Lady Thatcher, recounting how he once drove her around in a gold cart.
“Back in the day, Margaret Thatcher would in no way allow an aide to refer to anybody, Sarah Palin notwithstanding, as ‘nuts’,” he said.
I’m with Rush on this.
There’s no way this is accurate.
I sent an email to the Thatcher Foundation asking for a comment on the controversy.
I will post their statement if I hear back from them.

RedBeard commented:
The “aide” in question, if in fact it really was a true aide, was most likely acting independently and not speaking for Lady Thatcher. As such, a quick resignation is called for.
The real shame of it is that Lady Thatcher probably cannot speak for herself at this time, due to debilitating strokes.
Taxpayer commented:
Thatcher has Alzheimers or dementia, so others are speaking for her–badly.

Did Lady Thatcher Snub Sarah Palin?
no..
I have received an invitation for a visit to London, and part of that invitation included the offer of arranging a meeting between myself and one of my political heroines, the “Iron Lady,” Margaret Thatcher. I would love to meet her and hope I’ll be able to arrange the trip in the future.
and i would even go as far as stating that notion
is even more absurd than Obama’s 2008 sign in..

I have been reading about her health issues. I find the comment way off. If she did not meet with Sarah it was due to health not any other reasons. The media needs to stop making news fit their agendas.
Gary commented:
That’s true Jennifer.
And that includes trying to drum up a fake fight between Bachmann and Palin.
I’d love to see Palin/Bachmann or even Bachmann/Palin.
And too, a lot of sentences could start with “the media needs to stop…”

I recall that after Pres Reagan left office one of the tour busses droe by his house. and there he was coming out to do something. At the time no Alzheimers was apparent. He talked and visited with the people on the bus…un til someonefrom the housecame out and tok him back inside. But that is also the way Alz, partic in the early stages is.A good day one day and then the very next day, he can’t do basic things, like make coffee
Anyway, this whole thing is drama to smear Palin…

Margaret Thatcher being used to smear Sarah Palin?
As a strong conservative American with family origins in Britain this simply does not seem right. In a week
that Obama sides with Argentina and calls the Falklands the “Malvinas”, comments attributed to Lady Thatcher’s
staff are being used to discredit a leader of American conservatism.
Further, the remarks are an insult to me and to other Sarah Palin backers. I am a 60 year old with advanced degrees
in medicine and business who has started businesses and been the CEO of two of them. Is Lady Thatcher’s position
that I am unable to judge the sanity of those I support?
I urge Lady Thatcher, who is a real hero to many Americans, to re-evaluate this alleged derogation of Sarah Palin,
and if possible to meet with her directly to strengthen the cross Atlantic ties of freedom loving Brits and Americans.
Respectfully yours,
(DaMav)

Wouldn’t be surprising, this is Socialist Europe we’re talking about. So a Tory/Conservative there would line up with the American Left like Andrew Sullivan. GWB, for example, had 30% approval in the UK, while Obamao gets 70% approval.

What’s amazing to me is that the Guardian is the source. The Guardian and its readership have not been kind to Thatcher, believe they called her worse than Palin.

Speaking of Palin…
Is Fox News Out to Sabotage Governor Palin?
MEDIA WITH AN AGENDA
by Laura Alcorn, blogging at Richmond Patriots
(Jun. 9, 2011) — Recently we had a series of discussions with someone familiar with the inside dealings of Fox News regarding the way Fox News treats Governor Palin. While I don’t condone using anonymous sources (I usually make fun of those citing anonymous sources) unfortunately we can’t reveal the source. So we have therefore gathered the evidence that will back up everything we were told and it’s up to the reader to come to his or her own conclusion. Whichever way you look at it, the evidence is astonishing on how Fox News is out to sabotage Governor Palin.
(snip)
That was the turning point for Ailes where he decided that Governor Palin is not his candidate and that he’ll do whatever he can to make sure she isn’t. Ailes needed someone he could control and Governor Palin clearly wasn’t that person. Sometime in recent months the word went out internally that reporters, anchors and contributors should push the narrative that Palin isn’t running as hard as they can. No matter what Palin says or does or what the polls say, the rule is simple : “Palin isn’t running and everything she does is either for fun or for money.”

Dear (DaMav)
Thank you for your message.
I have no inside knowledge of this business to offer I am afraid and certainly am not in a position to make any kind of statement on Lady Thatcher’s behalf. I’m happy though to give you my personal view.
The Guardian, of course, is not a newspaper at all sympathetic to Lady Thatcher (or to Mrs. Palin), so reports on this topic, from that source, have minimal credibility. If nothing else, would Lady Thatcher have ever described a prominent US conservative politician as ‘nuts’, or approved an ‘ally’ who used the description? I would hope that question answers itself.
Of course, sadly, Lady Thatcher’s health is not good these days and such considerations naturally dominate her schedule. That much is true. Someone once said that if you plaster together the true and the false you thereby manufacture the plausible, but in this case I don’t think even that much has been achieved by the Guardian.
On the ‘Malvinas’, the OAS never learns and the State Department endlessly seeks to curry favour with it for the sake of the a quiet life. The question is a closed one as far as we in Britain are concerned, as it is in the Falklands themselves where opinion is undivided.
Best wishes,
Christopher Collins
