Could this really be happening in America?
A new study says 70% of illegal aliens in Texas are on welfare.
Chron.com reported, via Free Republic:

Thirteen years after Congress overhauled the American welfare system, 57 percent of immigrants with children — those in the country legally or not — use at least one government, welfare program according to a report released Tuesday by the Center for Immigration Studies.

In comparison, 39 percent of native-born Americans with children are signed up for welfare, the report found.

In Texas, 54 percent of legal immigrants and 70 percent of illegal immigrants receive welfare assistance, with illegal immigrants generally receiving benefits on behalf of their U.S.-born children, according to the study, written by a think tank that favors reducing immigration into the U.S.

Overall, Texas tied with California and New York for the second highest immigrant welfare rates behind Arizona.

  1. change you can believe in

  2. Cloward-Piven strategy ahead of schedule!

  3. WTF 2012…. This should just make the hard working legal citizens of Texas just happy as hell. Not like I am shocked.

What I would like to see is Texas do an actual accounting of this and put a dollar figure to this travesty and then cut the budget to welfare by that amount and then just for good measure cut and extra 25% and force all people to produce birth certificates to get any money. Then reduce able bodied turd from the list as well and then spread that to every freaking state.

  4. and thats only the ones you know about. the dole is liberal americas lure to bring the colonizers here. the more people they can put on the dole the sooner they can destroy the country. seventy percent are being supported by money taken out of the workers paycheck and the union leaders cheer.

  5. Texas should be able to easily pass a law requiring proof of citizenship to receive welfare benefits. That’s one of the easiest ways to combat illegal immigration — make it so that illegally immigrating doesn’t pay off.

The stats on immigrants (legal and illegal) who, upon coming to this country, start receiving welfare program benefits are disturbing. Even long-settled immigrants keep taking government money. We’re not attracting the good productive contributing immigrants, because we’re handing out freebies to anyone who makes it here, however they make it here.

  6. Here in Texas you always see them in Walmart, using their welfare cards to pay for groceries while their children translate the transaction. Out in the parking lot they usually all pile into a late model pickup or SUV, financed by American taxpayers.

  7. time for a general strike by the productive class…save as much as you can for the next year. Then go out on strike right after the conventions in 2012…..shut your small businesses…layoff all your workers…..take a long vacation..ask for a sabbatical…take a leave of absence….get in your car and drive 10 below the speed limit during rush hour…stop spending money except for essentials…go john galt….stop paying estimated taxes or cut them to the bone….starve the beast…

  8. In CA. we have them beat. It’s 84% here.

  9. I am from Texas. Are you telling me we are supposed to believe that in Texas, 30% of Illegal Aliens are NOT on Welfare????????

And bringing in MULTIPLE Social Security Checks apiece???

    SERIOUSLY???????????????????????????????????????????

  10. The same center for immigration studies also found that in 1978 California was ranked 6th in education while today California ranks 50th. Is there a connection between excessive immigration both illegal and legal and the last place ranking in what used to be the 8th largest economy in the world?

There was a reason for immigration quotas back in the day. It allowed the immigration population to assimilate, learn the language, educate their children, obtain jobs, save money and find better opportunities as American Citizens. Now the mass immigration is overwhelming the schools, lowering test scores, increasing dropout rates and draining the welfare state. In that study 82% of illegal households without a high school diploma are on some form of entitlement program. The humor in believing this is sustainable!

  11. #10 – we still have immigration quotas in place! People who want to legally immigrate to this country sometimes wait years for a green card while the illegals simply jump the fence.

BTW, you DO have to produce a birth certificate and a social security card to collect welfare benefits. Somebody in Texas must be doing a booming business in fake documents – and the state of Texas must not be bothering to check them at all.

  12. Tysm is right, if we could all agree to a shutdown of our own, we could get whatever we wanted accomplished. But could we ever agree to a few simple things? How about a strike just to get the Ryan budget enacted and Obamacare repealed?

We wouldn’t need any liberals to join in. Even the ones who have jobs aren’t productive enough to soften the impact of no conservatives working.

  14. the dole is the politicans way to take this country away from the american people.

  15. 16 percent of births

In Texas, between 60,000 to 65,000 babies achieve U.S. citizenship annually by being born in the state’s hospitals, according to a tally released by the state’s Health and Human Services Commission. Last year, such births represented almost 16 percent of the total births statewide.

Murdock, previously the state’s chief demographer and now a professor at Rice University, said the growth of Hispanics as a group in Texas has more to do with their relatively younger ages than the Anglo majority and their higher birthrates.

“In the last decade in Texas, over 60 percent of the state population increase was due to Hispanics,” he said.

Between 2001 and 2009, births to illegal immigrant women totaled 542,152 in Texas alone.

“The next 10 years will be an even more transformative decade demographically for Texas,” said Dr. Roberto Calderon, an associate history professor at the University of North Texas and a Latin American expert following the debate.

  16. #8 – I live in California too and didn’t know what the percentage was. 84%!! I was afraid it was that high however. How in the hell did we ever get to this place in our history? My gosh…

  17. OK, so we see the problem and have discussed it 10 ways from Sunday.

    What’s the solution?

OH, wait, I know the solution! Let’s vote in a Republican, that should work! ROFL
