On Tuesday the Obama Administration asked Hosni Mubarak to step aside.
On Saturday morning the Obama Administration said Mubarak must stay.
On Saturday evening the Obama Administration said Mubarak should step aside.
On Sunday Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Mubarak must stay in power.
This is crazy… Do these people have any idea what they’re doing?
News Time Africa reported:
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acknowledged Sunday that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak may need to stay on longer than many of his opponents want in order to ensure elections succeed. Under pressure from mass protests, Mubarak has pledged to step down in time for September polls but many protesters demand his immediate departure and US news reports have suggested Washington was also pressuring him to quit now. However, Clinton, speaking to reporters on the way back from international talks on Egypt in Germany, suggested the pressure for Mubarak to leave sooner rather than later may be easing. ”That has to be up to the Egyptian people,” the chief US diplomat said when asked if reality dictated Mubarak play some role in the political transition toward free and fair elections in Egypt. ”
The Obama Administration recalled former U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Frank Wisner after he made similar comments just one day earlier.

The problem is OBAMA and his secret ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. I am glad to see there is such wide division. Biden wants to support Mubarak. The Clintons like Mubarak . Cheney likes Mubarak. This is working out the right way in spite of all the kicking and screaming of Obama , his Iranian master spy Valerie Jarred, Rashid Khalidi, Imam Rauf, Keith Ellison, Sinister Louis Farakan, Soros, and El Baradei.

Bush didn’t like Muibarak, he was on the side of the dissidents..
[As he sat down with opposition leaders from authoritarian societies around the world, he gave voice to his exasperation. "You're not the only dissident," Bush told Saad Eddin Ibrahim, a leader in the resistance to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. "I too am a dissident in Washington. Bureaucracy in the United States does not help change. It seems that Mubarak succeeded in brainwashing them."]
heh, the dissidents aren’t on the side of Obama or the MB..
[The debate makes it easy to overlook the aspirations of those who started this peaceful revolt. There is little indication that the protestors want to see the authoritarian, repressive Mubarak regime replaced by a government which, at a minimum, is significantly influenced by authoritarian and repressive religious fundamentalists.
Writer Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens republished a Facebook posting of one protestor, who described the jihadist chants of Islamists trying to organize in the crowd. "NO!" the anonymous poster wrote. "This is NOT why we were in the streets on Friday being tear gassed and dodging rubber bullets and it is not why we have been going to Tahrir everyday to be heard. The reason why this revolt went through and became successful was because it was not religiously or politically charged. Don't let the ones who have been watching this unfold in the shadows ride this wave and hijack what you have been fighting for."]
but heh, none of that matters, i mean, it’s not like their lives are in your
hands, or that it will have a profound affect on US.. not to mention the
freedom & democracy surge could coming to a sreeching halt & Mubarak
the worlds richest dictator drops dead anyways, ha, what do i know, you
finish the scenario.. /s/

One million “protesters” want Mubarak to leave, and 83,000,000 normal Egyptians throughout the rest of the country want him to stay. If you get outside of Cairo and visit with the normal people, they are just watching things unfold on TV, being prevented from going to work, having to set up vigilante roadblocks to check for looters, and getting angrier and angrier by the minute at the PROTESTERS who are putting them out of business. When they reach the boiling point, you may see millions of them heading for Cairo to chase the protesters out of the country.
This is NOT a widespread uprising. It started with a rise in food prices, and for millions who live on the equivalent of $2/day, a rise in food prices can mean disaster. The Muslim “Brutha-hoods” are not that popular and not that influential, but Obama is treating them like they are, and he just may elevate them into power.
Ronald Reagan and Oliver North caught all kinds of grief for selling arms to the Iranians in order to raise funds for true freedom fighters in Nicaragua to prevent a strong Communist foothold in this hemisphere because the Democrats blocked support for the freedom fighters. Ted Kennedy and others actually pushed for the Communists to remain in power. Obama had a chance to help the Iranians overthrow “Ahm-in-a-jihad” but withheld support for the opposition, legitimized the rigged “election”, and let the regime crush a genuine people’s uprising. Now he is mis-characterizing this jihadi power grab in Egypt as a “popular uprising”, and he is on the brink of putting a terrorist organization into power in Egypt. In the upside-down world we live in today, he may just get another Nobel Peace Prize.

Joseph Waheeb Massoud, his wife Samah, their 15-year old daughter Tochter Christine and their 8-year old son Fady Youssef. Saleeb Ayad Mayez, his wife Zakia, their 4-year old son Joseph and their 3-year old daughter Justina, Saleeb’s 23-year old sister Amgad, his mother Zakia and a woman named Siniora Fahim.

On the situation in Egypt:
“Remember, President Reagan lived that mantra trust but verify. We want to be able to trust those who are screaming for democracy there in Egypt, that it is a true sincere desire for freedoms. And the challenge that we have though, is how do we verify what it is that we are being told, what it is that the American public is being fed via media, via the protestors, via the government there in Egypt in order for us to really have some sound information to make wise decisions on what our position is. Trust but verify, and try to understand is what I would hope our leaders are engaged in right now. Who’s going to fill the void? Mubarak, he’s gone, one way or the other. He is not going to be the leader of Egypt. That’s a given. So now the information needs to be gathered and understood as to who it will be that fills now the void in the government. Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood? We should not stand for that, or with that or by that. Any radical Islamists, no that is not who we should be supporting and standing by. So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support.”
On President Obama’s handling of the crisis in Egypt:
“It’s a difficult situation. This is that 3am White House phone call and it seems for many of us trying to get that information from our leader in the White House, it seems that that call went right to the answering machine. And nobody yet has explained to the American public what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak. I’m not real enthused about what it is that is being done on a national level from DC in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt and in these areas that are so volatile right now because obviously it’s not just Egypt but the other countries too where we are seeing uprisings. We know that now more than ever, we need strength and sound mind there in the White House. We need to know what it is that America stands for so we know who it is that America will stand with. And we do not have
