Judge Roll in 2009, faced death threats after presiding over a $32 million civil-rights lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed by illegal immigrants against an Arizona rancher. After Judge Roll ruled the case would be certified, threats came from talk-radio shows which fueled controversy and spurred audiences into making threats against the judge.

The threats materialized after one show, Judge Roll’s name logged more than 200 phone calls as some callers threatened the judge and his family.

This resulted in the judge and his wife were under a protection detail for one month as Judge Roll was given twenty four hours a day, seven days a week security by the US Marshals Service. An US Attorney’s investigation ruled that four men were identified as threat makers, but no charges were filed.

In a July 9, 2009 interview with the Arizona Republic, Judge Roll described the time under high security as “unnerving and invasive. . . . By its nature it has to be,” Roll said. Roll also said, “It (the security) was handled very professionally by the Marshals Service.”[2]

At the end of the month, Roll said four key men had been identified as threat makers[2].

It is confirmed; this poor man is dead, along with four others so far. This includes a nine-year-old child that this bastard killed.
A good way to handle this would be to NOT release this whackjob’s name. That’s what he WANTS, that’s why he did this. His “cause” is secondary. He set out this morning to wreak havoc and earn a place for himself in history, to “spread his word”, but mostly, to gain attention and notoriety because he was unwilling or unable to do anything else with his microbial life. (Wait, I must apologize to microbes; they actually are usefull.)
This type of guy is the same sort of the kind of mindset that shoot up schools and university campuses… They have a “grievance” ’cause they were bullied or lost their jobs (oh, waaahh) and woe unto anyone who doesn’t see it their way. They have pathetic lives and have nothing to show for them, so therefore, why not take the lives of others who are actually DOING something PRODUCTIVE with theirs, versus changing their own lives? And frankly, I don’t want to hear about how they’re “sick” or “mentally ill”. Too f*$%ing bad. Shoot them like a mad dog, then, but I’m sick of paying my tax dollars out for these societal rejects. As the military says, let God sort ‘em out.
Everyone everywhere is feeling the fallout of this action by a “metally challenged” societal leper. (Again, my apologies to any lepers reading; you are worth a billion of this scumbucket, but wait, now I’m insulting scumbuckets…) We are ALL victims of his media/attention grabbing ploy. The judge is a victim with no recourse. The Congresswoman who is, as I type, fighting for her life, and will never, ever be the same again. The child who went to the market with their parents to see their Congresswoman and their government in action, and now has no future.
THAT CHILD WILL NEVER GET A CHANCE TO FORM HIS OR HER OWN OPINIONS, WILL NEVER GET A CHANCE TO VOTE.
Sure, it might be because the Judge was forward thinking enough to allow a Civil Rights action suit against a bunch of “Good ‘Ole Boys” who were probably guilty as hell and were mad ’cause somebody actually stepped in and said enough was enough, it doesn’t matter who the hell your daddy was or how much you’re worth monetarily, this is AMERICA AND IT’S FREAKING THE 21st CENTURY! Or, the Congresswoman who was onboard with Healthcare reform. So WHAT? You don’t agree with their views, so let’s take up arms?
This bastard ruined alot of people’s lives today. Let’s not glorify him in the press, let him fade away into anonymity. Don’t give him the satisfaction. Let us instead look at what we lost today. Another bit of America’s innocence, flushed down the crapper.

Sorry, but Mein Kampf…and he’s a “left-winger?” That was a list of his favorite bookS; it’s disingenuous in the extreme to say the Communist Manifesto – ONE of those books, along with “Mein Kampf” – is his “favorite book.”

He’s also advocated a return to the gold standard – straight out of the Ron Paul playbook; the original tea partier. I’d say that makes him more likely a right-winger than anything else.

Gman, Judge Roll was a REPUBLICAN. This shooting isn’t horrific because of the Politics; it’s horrific that human lives were wasted, no matter WHERE they stood politically. Was the nine-year-old heavily involved in politics? Probably the kid was more involved in their gaame system.

First condolences to all victims and familys who are enduring this tragedy. This is beyond unbelivable and can’t imagine what these poor people must be going through.

Can’t help but wonder how Sarah Palin is going to spin this. Is she liable for this incident? Does her “map” with crossfire targets pointed at names of our hard working government representives and their locations inplicate her in this tragedy? Whether she intended or not, her politics and dirty playing may have influenced a potentially mentally disturbed person to commint mass murder. What about folks who aren’t necessarily mentally ill….but easily persuaded and influenced by idiotic ads and retoric that Palin spews and supports?

I admit it….I choked down the first episode of Sarah Palin’s Alaska (only after an aborted first attempt several weeks earlier) and was horrified at her glib comments about how folks tote their guns around town in public because they need protection from wild animals (bears). It isn’t a long stretch to translate that to other parts of the country. I can almost hear her voice in my mind .
….*Sarah* oh yah….the big citys are a big bad JUNGLE and guns are needed there fur shur for our protection (bears and others we don’t like)!…and oh yah knoooow….maybe if everyone in that Safeway in Tucson had been able to carry a firearm, not as many folks would have been hurt!

Mark my words …her spin is on the way. She’s got some damage control to work out….but I hope she fizzles and fades away into oblivion to be not remembered for anything other than being a complete idiot whos pathetic and desparate attempt at fame crumbled around her miserably.

I’m having a little chat with my kids right now to show them what a self serving misdirected dangerous person like Sarah Palin can do by distributing/promoting hate and violence. It’s wrong….and I hold Sarah Palin responsible for influencing others to use violence. Now everyone working in high profile political offices are in an uproar about safety. Hmmm…..well if guns were outlawed perhaps they would feel a lot safer.
Our forefathers did not create the right to bear arms for the situations we find ourselves in the modern age. It was meant for us to be able to protect ourselves from “foreign” invasion during the birth of our great country. Handguns and semi-automatics firearms should be outlawed to the general public.

It’s obvious that the suspected shooter Jared Loughner had some sort of semi-automatic in his hands to be able to kill six people including a 9mo. infant and injure 12 others.

Chief, I totally concur that what happened is horrible, and I agree Palin is not a good example of GOP behaviour; she is a hyporcrite that needs to pay attention to her own messed up family.
But to say that guns should be outlawed?
I’m going to trot out that moldy-oldy, Guns Don’t Kill People, PEOPLE Kill People.
I agree that one can hear an undertone of how Sarah would like the country to be, but, unfortunately, the whackjob (I refude to say his name and therefore give him any recognition whatsoever) had AUTOMATIC weapons…bought illegally. So, if you outlaw guns, than the only people with access to them will be law-enforcement and criminal whackjobs.
