Drudge says it best…

When you have TSA screeners shamelessly telling passengers they’re going to conduct a groin check, When you have TSA screeners accosting 3 year-old girls, when you have Catholic nuns being felt up…
You know the system is broken.

Now, the Transportation Security Administration warning that any passenger who denies TSA agents from patting down, doing in groin checks or who refuses full body scanners could be subject to civil penalties.
CNN reported:

In response to a video of a California man’s dispute with airport security officials, the Transportation Security Administration said Monday it tries to be sensitive to individuals, but everyone getting on a flight must be screened.

The video, in which software engineer John Tyner refuses an X-ray scan at the San Diego, California, airport, has sparked a debate over screening procedures…

…Tyner said that after he declined the body scan, a TSA agent told him he could have a pat-down instead. Once the procedure was described, Tyner said he responded, “If you touch my junk, I’ll have you arrested.”

The dispute that followed, Tyner said, included police escorting him from the screening area and a supervisor saying he could be faced with a civil lawsuit for leaving the airport before security had finished screening him.

“The whole thing just seemed ridiculous… I don’t intend to fly until these machines go away,” he said.

“Advanced imaging technology screening is optional for all passengers,” TSA said in a statement released Monday. “Passengers who opt out of [advanced imaging] screening will receive alternative screening, including a physical pat-down.”

But anyone who refuses to complete the screening process will be denied access to airport secure areas and could be subject to civil penalties, the administration said, citing a federal appeals court ruling in support of the rule.

When Obama said Americans were “the enemy” he wasn’t kidding.

  1. Sounds like it is about time that we declare a No Fly Day!

  2. “citing a federal appeals court ruling in support of the rule”
Ah, no. The only rulings that apply here allow an individual TSA agent to seek civil damages against a passenger – and that’s not exactly new, as there have been similar rulings allowing most enforcement personnel the same right. To claim that someone refusing to be groped who then leaves the premises is still liable for prosecution is a serious falsehood.

FWIW, I’ve seriously cut back on flights – Dulles (my local airport) is now one of the worst offenders, so I drive anywhere under 1K miles or use various online services. It amazes me that we, the American public allow this, while in the nearly dozen times I’ve flown in & out of Israel I’ve yet to see a “patdown” or similar “screening” at the gate…

  3. Well okay Big Sis. How about you publicly go through one of the scanners and also submit to a fulol body pat down? Do both in public to show us uninformed, illiterate, fly-country Americans how easy, comfortable, and not in the least invasive of our privacy it is to submit to these ridiculous excuses for security.
Oh, and by the way, based on the photo of the nun submitting to one of your “non-invasisve” pat downs by a TSA – you better damn well be patting down all of the Muslim women wearing their “desert” dresses.

  4. If TSA enforcement actually were allowed common sense law and safety enforcement in targeting (yes, profiling) potential criminal and terrorist activity, I don’t think too many people would get bent out of shape about a scan/feel up here or there (in other words, very infrequently). The fact that we have to bend over backwards not to offend a muslim population during a REAL and PRESENT war with islamic killers simply defies good common sense and decency.

In a real sense, though, while feeling up nuns defies common sense and is fundamentally offensive to OUR liberties, the terrorist we all face is cunning enough to look for otherwise benign people to strap themselves with bombs, whether willing or not. It is not beyond islamic killers and cartel narcoterrorists to kidnap a family and force one member to become a suicide bomber or perpetrate a criminal act. It DOES happen often, and I think people fail to remember not all terrorists are willing participants. Some terrorists may not even be aware they’re carrying explosive materials, and so may not exhibit suspicious behavior.

It’s still BS, however, and deeply offensive we are currently stuck with an agency who will violate our liberties on behalf of political correctness, when the enemy simply laughs at our clumsy efforts not to offend him. When you purchase a product, you shouldn’t have to be literally violated in order to execute the transaction.

  5. Yeah, just great! Muslims treating Christians like second-class citizens (dhimmitude), loss of privacy, getting felt-up. What happens after the next would be terrorist circumvents all of this crap? How much liberty is sacrificed? When will enough finally be ENOUGH!!!!!!

  6. We need to start profiling Arabs and Muslims. Screw this insanity, this is what political correctness has wrought.

  7. I’m thinking of wearing a burqua to circumvent this outrage. after all the mussies get everythng they want. Maybe I’ll convert as I see how catholics are treated in the above picture. Way to go O’Bambi!

  8. CAIR says that Muslim women can only be touched on the neck and shoulders.

Does that mean that all female passengers should start wearing Muslim garb as a protest?

  9. I think they really want us to stop flying. They are trying to restrict our freedom of movement for a couple of reasons:

    1) They’re tyrants and they don’t like our freedom
    2) Saving the environment – the less we fly the smaller our carbon footprint (so they think)

  10. economic warfare- people who can’t ever afford to travel going after people who can.

  11. On a recent flight from Gulfport, MS to Washington D.C. the man in line ahead of me was a Buddhist Monk wearing his orange robe. The TSA guys were suspicious of the monk because he had no luggage, (completely clueless to the fact that monks take an oath of poverty), the TSA guys made the monk go through BOTH the scanner and a full body groping. He never said a word but I had to shake my head in disgust of what they were putting people through.
The scanners never bothered me until I found out that former DHS sec. Micheal Chertoff makes money off of every machine. It is time to stand up for our rights and demand this nonsense ends.

  12. The Germans have exactly the right way to respond to this if you must fly -

  13. This is bull s**t!
If they were really interested in protecting American citizens, the TSA workers would be moved to the southern border!

minimizing the atrocity that occurred on 9/11 is not a desired affect, well that is, unless you’re an IslaMarxist aka: Marx/Islam aka: Islamophiliac aka: Progressive..

hoping the links work, if not, will re-post separately..

  15. One guy called up the radio this morning stated that if he is subject to a groin check (he’s got metal in his body), he’s going to expose his groin for all to see.

  16. TSA is a joke. I would rather drive the 20 hours to take my Florida vacation than deal with this inept, incompetent gaggle of idiots.

  17. I’m gluing plastic arrows on my legs pointing straight to you know what…

  18. Everyone who can should refuse to fly and instead either drive or take the train. Look for Amtrak’s profits to go–pardon the term–sky high in the near future.

  19. In a word —- STOP FLYING!!! See how fast the gov idiots change things.

  20. I used to love to fly. But I will fly no more until a modicum of sanity returns to the TSA.
Catholic Nuns get the crotch grab. Muzzies get a free pass. Insanity doesn’t even begin to describe it.

  21. You know what you need to do to take back your country America….

  22. ++

just for the heck of it re: # 25

    I – S – L – A – M – O – P – H – O – B – I – A

Jasser: I’ll first tell you what it is not- it’s not Islamophobia. If anyone is to blame for the existence of the concept of Islamophobia, if it even exists, it is Muslims who have been unable to articulate a manifestation of Islam which is free of a political state which threatens the sovereignty of the states in which Muslims reside. I don’t subscribe to the existence of the notion of Islamophobia because I believe that we are in just the beginning of a global conflict of political ideologies (Islamism vs. Americanism), and the conflation of “Islamophobia” is intentional by Islamists to deflect Americans and the free world from the necessary debate of political ideologies.

  23. Hmmm.

Next time I fly I may put on a set of fake Groucho Marx glasses on my “junk” for when/if I go through those scanners.

Or if I get the pat down I’ll tell them “hey it’s not a date! But since you’re there how about a reach-around….”.

  24. A pedophile’s dream job.

What person in their right mind could knowingly perform this violation of innocent children and the infirmed.

This is not about “public safety”.
This is an intentional affront to human dignity designed to create a reaction by this hostile, agenda driven idealogue administration.

    F’n sick twisted freaks.

  25. Show some stones America and STOP FLYING! This is a high stakes game of chicken and we true Americans need to realize that we are riding in a tank.

  26. That TSA official’s statement makes me wonder, is there a positive feedback loop of insanity begetting yet more insanity going on here?

  27. To all those saying, “Just stop flying! That’ll show them!”

Why would we voluntarily give up or freedom of travel? Lest you forget: the socialist regimes of the 20th century always instituted policies of travel restrictions.

No. The answer is to reclaim our right to travel without having our Constitutional rights violated merely to exercise the privilege of air travel.

  28. No. The answer is to reclaim our right to travel without having our Constitutional rights violated merely to exercise the privilege of air travel.

    ———————————————————————

And how do you suppose we do that Chip? Ask them nicely? Please Mr. President, uh er I mean Your Highness, would you mind focusing on the actual threat here and profile Muslims. We understand that you believe them to be the innocent victims of us horrible capitalists, but we beseach thee nonetheless….Yeah, that is certain to end this madness.

  29. Please don’t penalize us.

  30. Chip (31) is correct. Why should we be the ones who give up our freedom to travel any way we wish? These searches are a deliberate part of the legislated destruction of America and the subjugation of its citizens. Our borders are kept wide open to all sorts of terrorists, criminals and thugs who want to enter. Immigration is intentionally bringing in more Muslims. Our freedoms are eroding fast. We need an organized public push-back against this theft of our personal security. Maybe a tea party-like movement against the disreputable Napolitano and the nefarious security apparatus would start the ball rolling.

  31. I stopped all flying on 9-11. Nobody would listen to me when i told people that the way to get real flying security was to boycott any flying not forced on you by your employer. I wonder if you can demand an opposite sex pat down and could i get one if i did not buy a ticket but got in line for a junk touch.

  32. “Passengers who opt out of [advanced imaging] screening will receive alternative screening, including a physical pat-down.”

TSA forgot to add that, if the passenger is a mohammedan, nothing will be done. He or she will just be waved through.

  33. So since Nancy P will have to fly commerical who gets to pat her down?

  34. Maybe the liberals are trying to force people off the airplanes since the airlines are privately owned companies. The airline industry is subject to a butt load of government regulations but the government does not “own” the airlines. Perhaps the government, in their “infinite wisdom” (LOL) wants to force people to take the train, which they do own.

    Think about it:

Amtrak is a government corporation just like the post office. It was organized on May 1, 1971 after the Rail Passenger Service Act was passed by congress and signed into law by President Nixon in 1970. This act created the National Railroad Passenger Corporation which is a public/private entity supported by taxpayer money which operates Amtrak.

It’s all about control and controlling the people.

  35. What, you refuse to be patted down and radiated, and decide not to fly, you can be charged with something? These people are out of control. Maybe they need a pat down.

  36. Traveling by air this holiday season??

    http://www.zazzle.com/dont_touch_my_junk_tshirt-235125618812250794

The perfect shirt to wear when heading out to visit family and friends. :)

  37. Yeah, and you also won’t be able to fly if you don’t put your luggage through an x-ray machine and walk through a metal detector. We have always had airport security.

  38. Here’s 3 choices we have here people:

    1) Adopt an Israeli-style security model that profiles muslims.

^By far the best option. It works EXTREMELY well. Israel is surrounded by hundreds of millions of arab and muslim barbarians who masterbate to the idea of killing as many innocent Jews as possible. They’ve been the prime target of airplane hijackings by islamic jihadists for several decades. So they can’t afford to dick around and play games. As a result, they’ve developed a highly advanced top notch transportation security sytem that we should just copy in virtually every way.

It’s been 100% effective since it was implemented (which is amazing) and it allows for a pleasent and efficient travel experience for the other 99% of the people who fly on their planes. This is by far the best option in my opinion and should be implemented immediately. And recently they placed explosives and ink cartridges and times them to explode over residential neighborhoods and at Jewish centers.

    2) Screen everyone equally like we’re doing now.

^Obviously not sustainable. The islamic jihadists have dedicated their entire to figuring out new ways to burther our friends and family. Whatever security measures we implement, they’ll simply figure out a way to bypass them. We know for sure that they’re highly organized and sophisticated at doing this. They purchase complete body scanners and metal detectors and figure out ways to to sneak weapons and explosives through them.

We saw that with them first using box cutters to hijacjk our planes. Then explosives in their shoes. Then liquid explosives in beverage contrainers. Then highly advanced explosives embedded into clothes that are very hard to detect. They even use their own kids as bombs and have tried to fill live dogs with explosives in order to bypass airport security. And one suicide bomber actually shoved a large amount of exploves up his own rectum – which is impossible to detect even with these new full body scanners.

So not only is this method not effective, but it cripples our economy, invades our privacy and causes people to completely flip out. This option is horrible, unreliable and unsustainable. The only reason we’re doing it is because we’re too politically correct to profile and single out muslims.

    3) Not screen anyone and thus ensure that hundreds if not thousands of people get killed.

^Unfortunately, this seems to be the increasingly popular option due to a rebellion of option 2. People these days are so insanely politically correct; so afraid of offending muslims, that they’d rather have thousands of people die than profile muslims.

  40. I could have SWORN that the US Constitution SPECIFICALLY prohibited such groundless searches.

But then again, I thought it provided for a limited government of enumerated powers.

    My mistake.

  41. Up your a$$, TSA.. think I care about your widdle penalties?

  42. Is there a travelers group or maybe a cadre of individuals who have to fly regularily, who can sue to have this kind of nonsense declared Unconstutional? Frankly, I’m beginning to see the allure of the “tree, rope, some assembly required” mantra.

  43. The person doing the sinful search of the sister/nun looks like he/she has a muslim head dress on???? If that is a male I am really, really OUTRAGED! Some one needs to send that picture to the Pope.

  44. nobody is getting patted down at the border.

  45. Good grief! It’s a female TSA perv in a hijab who’s groping the nun.

  46. Secretary Janet Incompetano mentioned in her press briefing that the invasive “pat-downs” will be conducted by “same gender” TSA agents —

she mentioned this not once, but twice -

    “same gender” TSA agents -

she seemed fairly bubbly about this prospect -

I don’t want to infer anything out of the ordinary from this statement – but I’m just saying, is all.

  47. we should start everyone wear a burka hijab day for air travel

  48. “she seemed fairly bubbly about this prospect”
    Well, she would. Wouldn’t she?

  49. No the answer is not to say do this to Muslims but not to us. No one should have to go through this. There are better ways of keeping us safe. The answer is to finally accept that there are some freedoms that are NOT worth giving up for security.

I see a lot of you blaming the left, but the right is not off the hook either with its “give up anything and everything to keep us safe” attitude. Better intelligence and better intelligence sharing is what we need to keep us safe. We don’t have to give up our rights, our freedoms or our dignity to be safe. Stop being so afraid!

Although I refuse to fly anymore, my husband has to for business. Some people have no choice, which is why a mass boycott of airlines might not work. (Although it could put some pressure on them if pleasure flights really did drop significantly. Business travel might prevent a boycott from being as effective as it could be, though.)
