Florida School Bans Christmas… And Christmas Colors

It begins… A Florida school not only banned Christmas but banned everything associated with Christmas including Christmas colors…
Because someone might be offended.

A school in Florida has not only banned Christmas – but everything associated with the Christian holiday.
Teachers at Heathrow Elementary School have been ordered to banish images of Santa Claus from classrooms – along with traditional Christmas colors like red and green.
“You can’t use red and green,” one outraged parent told WESH. “It’s ridiculous.”
The parent, who serves as a volunteer room mother, said she was recently given a list of guidelines that listed the holiday restrictions.
She said the basic theme of the letter was, “We don’t want to offend anyone who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus or the Christian beliefs.”

I’m sorry but this just shows the absolute stupidity of those on the left. They have no belief or faith (except belief and faith in themselves or the government) otherwise they would know that Santa Claus is a pagen belief. No, it is not a variation on the theme of the three wisemen bearing gifts. So is red and green and just about everything else associated with Christmas except the Nativity.
Now, if they said they don’t want to celebrate Christmas because of the commercialism involved and the feeling that some poorer kids might be hurt emotionally because of the advertising involved, I might go along with that. But this isn’t about that. It’s about “Let’s get as much as we can done while Obama and his Justice Department are in power.”

Time to do away with school taxes. Totally de-fund public schools. School districts should become private entities, and then parents can choose where to send their kids – and schools would have to compete, just like in the free market. Plus, kids might actually get a better education – assuming we can also kick the unions out. My kids went to private schools (after spending their first few years in public elementary school) and they are much better off for it. I can actually have intelligent discussions with my kids, whereas most parents of 20-somethings still get “I don’t know” and “(mumble mumble)” for responses. Never mind the fact these kids have no clue how the world around them works unless it’s connected to a Wii or an iPhone.

I went to school with some Jewish kids, and never once did any of them object to a Christmas tree in the classroom. It was rather obvious that the vast majority wanted to observe Christmas, and the minority understood that.
No disrespect was intended toward the Jewish kids, and no offense was taken by them or their parents. We all got along great. In the adult world, Jewish folks would offer to work Chrismas day shifts, and Christian folks would offer to work on Yom Kippur for their Jewish friends.
Of course, that was back in the day (seems a long time ago) when common sense ruled. [sigh]

I’m sorry, you can’t get rid of all references to Christmas. I’m an Orthodox Jew, but when I was a kid, we went to public school, and guess what? They sang Christmas Carols and talked about Christmas and had Christmas decorations up, and yet, I still ended up an Orthodox Jew! Yes, I send my kids to a private Jewish school now, both because the public schools stink, and because I want them to have a deeper Jewish education, but it’s not out of hostility to any other religion. I’m tired of the PC b.s., I’m tired of all this stuff…having a manger scene at City Hall never bothered me. WHO CARES? (I mean, besides some hateful Muslims and atheists and liberals). The whole “Happy Holidays” theme disgusts me, it’s Christmas. I don’t celebrate it, it’s not my holiday, but I respect the right of everyone else to do so. If anything, I feel much more pressured now to deal with these things than when there was the overt Christmas displays in school 40 years ago.
If we’re going to get rid of Christmas, then good, everyone back to work on the 25th, and hell, why have a break for the holidays? Certainly there is no reason to be off on the 24th, Christmas eve, so I hope the teachers and principals of that school are working hard on Friday the 24th until late in the day, so as not to offend anyone who thinks they might take off early to get some cooking or Christmas decorating or putting some gifts under the tree.
The whole world has gone mad. And I don’t care if they DO allow green and red and blue and white at the school, this idea of worrying about offending everyone is the way to destruction.

Thanks for your comments Mo. I am retired Army. It was the norm for Jewish soldiers to stand duty for Christians during our holidays and we for theirs. No body thought it a big deal. Just the way we did things. But that was long ago and in a country far away…..sad.

That is so true. I went to a highs school where he student body was +/- 75% Jewish. At Christmas, we would all gather in the gym to sing Christmas carols in different languages (depending on the language you were studying), including our Jewish classmates who sang along with us. My best friends used to have both a Hannukah bush and a Christmas tree in their home… NO ONE was offended. We respected each others’ traditions and religious beliefs.

If you want to be paid and you opt-out of celebrating national holidays then you also opt-out of being paid for the time off. You don’t come to work, you don’t get paid. Very simple.

When my son went to elementary school.in Seminole Florida. Pinellas county allowed holiday music for their seasonal choral production but banned any songs with Christian references. Festivus, Kwanza and Jewish references ok but not Christianity. Atleast Santa and Rudolf were ok then. It was 15 years ago, who knows what rights have been stripped since.

This is insane. Christmas isn’t just a Christian Holiday anymore. Its for everyone who wants to share in it. The last time I looked no one was forced to Celebrate Christmas or sing Christmas songs. Sorry, the story may have been incorrect to specific ban’s IE Christmas colors ban. But is correct in the slant that school officials are trying not to observe the Christmas Holiday in favor of having a winter holiday observance. That said we have have a element in this nation bent on destroying the fabric that binds Americans together. As for the school district, political correctness or an intentional attempt at undermine our tradition’s is a slight that we will not let go unchallenged. If offended please feel free to return or find your own little slice of life without faith.

Maybe they have failed to notice that red and green are not the only colors of christmas these days…..we now have white, purple, black, pink,blue, and brown christmas trees there are even neon colors So maybe if they really are basising this on discriminating others This would be the golden opportunity to bring everyone together and teach all the other ways countries and nationalities celebrate, turn this into a possitive learning experience for all.

i have to agree with sooo many of the posts i have read. I am a Christian and I am not ashamed to say I am. I was just wondering since the things that i am fixing to list will be removed from not only schools but stores also since NO ONE WANTS TO OFFEND ANYONE? … I am offended by Halloween being represented by witches, black cats, ghosts, tomb stones and other demonic and dead things, i am offended by Easter being represented by a bunny and eggs, I am offended that CHRISTmas is being represented by santa clause, reindeer, and elfs. The true meaning of these holidays is the gift of giving unselfshly. IF I banned and let everything that offened me keep my family and I from celebrating the giving part of the Holidays, then i would be the one really missing out on life! America is a melting pot of different cultures and beliefs, WE HAVE TO RESPECT ONE ANOTHERS CULTURES AND BELIEFS IN THIS WORLD AND AGREE THAT NO ONE WILL EVER SEE EYE TO EYE ON EVERYTHING . I Will Not Try to force my religon/beliefs on you and you should not do the same to me ( outta of respect) If you want to band certain colors because they represent a certain Holiday.. than you’d have to band the rainbow!! CHRISTMAS @ my house is red, white, blue, purple, gold, green, tan, silver, orange, peach and black. I called the school and inquired if it were true or not. They said it was completely false rumor, they have been getting calls like crazy. Why would anyone knowingly do this is beyond me. Lovers of the truth, look for it, search it out.

They don’t want to offend atheist and muslims but they are happy to offend the majority in this country which are Christians. The best ideas were keep the kids home the person was right then they get no money. wear the colors they are banning. Do not allow this to happen. If they sell angel or holiday trees buy nothing from them. That is the only way you have to stop this crap. If stores have the trees and lots of gifts and they don’t sell guess what they will real quick go back to saying Christmas. This is the biggest sales time for stores. cut them off if they cut you off. It works.

It is actually Advent. The color is purple. Have the kids wear purple for 4 weeks. Since it is not only a favorite color of a certain Union, and of the current president’s favorite tie, If they ban purple, then they could Ban images of Obama for quite some time.

Perhaps the principal of Heathrow Elementary School ought to experience what it is like not to have Christmas by moving to a country where Christmas is not celebrated – China, North Korea, Cuba, Saudi Arabia or even Japan (from what I understand, Christmas in Japan is not an official holiday there).
To school principals and Corporate America, if the spirit of the Christmas season bothers you in any way, do yourself a favor and leave America. Christmas has been an American holiday for many, many years and Christmas is here to stay, so get used to it.
