Democrook Charlie Rangel is guilty of 11 ethics violations.
The Ticket reported:
A House Ethics subcommittee announced Tuesday that they have found Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) guilty of 11 of ethics violations.
Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) said the committee rolled two charges together, meaning that Rangel was ultimately charged with 12, not 13 charges as originally stated. She added the committee was split on one of the 12– identified as a charge of harming the credibility of Congress.
Rangel walked out of his House trial yesterday in protest over being unable to afford legal representation. Charges included improperly soliciting donations for his center and New York’s City College, a failure to provide complete financial disclosure information, and improper use of a rent-controlled apartment for campaign purposes.
It sure was nice of Democrats to hold this hearing after the election, huh?

Next up is a resounding slap on the wrist…

That didn’t take long.
But the way Charlie looks at it, eight jurors couldn’t be more blind to the evidence.
He’s still a shoe in for reelection though. All it takes is the race card…
GrayRider commented:
And this pond scum got re-elected by the numbskull libidiots in NY. I’ll bet even if he was tried before the election, as he should have been…the lib zombies would have re-elected him anyway.

I’m afraid I’ll have to agree with the committee… How could anyone be guilty of harming the credibility of this congress?
We now need to follow up with a little more than the traditional slap on the wrist… What would a common citizen get for embezzling funds of this amount?

Well I must say I am dumbfounded.
gus commented:
Yes, this is news why?? He is still in Congress, they will do NOTHING to him.

I wonder how soon Sharpton, Jackson, NAACP, etc. will denounce this decision. Harlem will stand by good old Charlie.

Still time for Gov. Paterson (who allegedly has much in common with the scales of justice) to appoint his replacement before the new congress is sworn.

Sorry Charlie…..NOT!
RedBeard commented:
To those of you who think he won’t be punished, you’re wrong. I feel confident he will get a terrible penalty, probably in the form of a Very Stern Letter signed by Morally Outraged Congresspersons who will not put up with this anymore.
Oh, the humanity!

This has been all planned! He knew the verdict before he walked out. Charlie has not been in power so many years and not have money. This is a rush job to get him and Walters cleared” before the republicans took charge! That man has more dollars then he can count! bet ya

“identified as a charge of harming the credibility of Congress”
That must have been quite a feat considering their current esteem status with the public. (*grin*)

ROFL, thanks RedBeard

Replacement? LOL. There is no penalty for lawbreaking in this case or with this administration where tax cheats get cabinet positions. Just one more case where Congrees exempts itself from the laws it imposes on the “unwashed” masses.

Yea, I can see where Congress would have trouble with this one. How can they determine harm against something that doesn’t exist?
GrayRider commented:
Shocked…I’m just Shocked…and even more Shocked that I’m Shocked!!!
CNL commented:
Credibility of Congress? What a hoot! The fact that this man will get a wrist slap will further damage the “credibility of congress” which is now negligible.
dwd commented:
That was FAST! There’s no way this couldn’t have been done BEFORE the election.
Joel commented:
Don’t worry, Charlie will be just fine. After the dust settles and the media looks the other way…thing will be normal again, he will steal and cheat as before…
