Wikileak's Papers Reveal US Troops Did Find WMD in Iraq

Do you suppose this will make any headlines?
Anti-American crackpot Julian Assange revealed today in his leaked Wikileak’s documents that US troops did indeed find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Ace reported on this from the Danger Room:

WikiLeaks’ newly-released Iraq war documents reveal, U.S. troops continued to find chemical weapons labs, encounter insurgent specialists in toxins, and uncover weapons of mass destruction…

…In August 2004, for instance, American forces surreptitiously purchased what they believed to be containers of liquid sulfur mustard, a toxic “blister agent” used as a chemical weapon since World War I. The troops tested the liquid, and “reported two positive results for blister.” The chemical was then “triple-sealed and transported to a secure site” outside their base.

Three months later, in northern Iraq, U.S. scouts went to look in on a “chemical weapons” complex. “One of the bunkers has been tampered with,” they write. “The integrity of the seal [around the complex] appears intact, but it seems someone is interesting in trying to get into the bunkers.”

Meanwhile, the second battle of Fallujah was raging in Anbar province. In the southeastern corner of the city, American forces came across a “house with a chemical lab … substances found are similar to ones (in lesser quantities located a previous chemical lab.” The following day, there’s a call in another part of the city for explosive experts to dispose of a “chemical cache.”

not only that, but must reiterate Iraq outsourced it’s WMD programs to other countries (with the help of Russia), Syria & Lybia being 2 of them.. Syria’s Nuclear Facility was hit by Israel a few years back, and of course Gaddafi surrendered his, well, Saddam’s.. but more on that is probably forthcoming..

Intersting that these leaks have been out for about 24 hours now, and other than some strategically interesting factoids (like Iranian involvement details), so far I hear a lot of crickets chirping.

    here’s the thing..

anyone who’s been paying close attention since 9/11 more or less knows the truths contained in those papers/documents, or whatever, especially those of us who kept in touch with Military & Iraqi bloggers from beginning to end, and still..

iow: there’s nothing new being “revealed”, just a matter of how the state controlled media is going to spin (not many liberals will bother to research whatever they’re told the reports state for themselves, and most conservatives already have all along)..

all it is is fodder cover, something to keep US distracted so Obama et
al can go about doing whatever they’re going to do with little notice..

Well, it’s not really a surprise.

A fact which the libs always tend to “ignore” is that the existence of WMDs in Iraq doesn’t come from Bush. It comes from the CIA. And the CIA had confirmation from the British, French and Germans. The German BND confirmed that there were WMDs in Iraq.

But I guess Bush ordered them all to lie, right?

  • Militant Conservative

I personnally know of a kurdish male that is here in America. His brother died form a mustard gas attack on his village (WMD) libterds. He drank champagne when Saddam was hanged. The WMD are there yet you turn a blind eye. Just like Juan Williams you do not understand that which you do not witness.

  • RickS

No. This won’t get even the slightest mention in any mainstream press outlet. It totally destroys the narrative and that can’t be allowed.

    Andreas K. @ 7:13 pm #13

true.. but the UN actually upped the
anti on the amounts of all the WMD..

    just a wee sample:

    March 25, 2003

This report addresses Iraq’s missile and UAV programs and their employment of missiles against Coalition forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The UN supervised the destruction of a number of Al Samoud 2 missiles, but some of these missiles may be deployed with Iraqi forces. Intelligence sources estimate that Iraq has illegally retained up to 20 Al Hussein SCUD variant missiles and has fired a number of Ababil-100 missiles at coalition targets. Iraq has also been accused of modifying L-29 Czech jet trainers to be used as UAVs to disseminate chemical or biological agents.]

    UN Admits Saddam Had WMD

[“He said the Iraqi facilities were dismantled and sent both to Europe and around the Middle East at the rate of about 1,000 tons of metal a month… The Baghdad missile site contained a range of WMD and dual-use components, UN officials said. They included missile components, reactor vessel and fermenters … required for the production of chemical and biological warheads. ‘It raises the question of what happened to the dual-use equipment, where is it now and what is it being used for,’ Perricos’s spokesman, said. ‘You can make all kinds of pharmaceutical and medicinal products with a fermenter. You can also use it to breed anthrax.’”]

i’ll have to take several hours and search my files to see if i can locate some of the many article’s in regards to Iraq’s wmd, but for some reason i highly doubt the web links will still work.. there’s just so much they’ve stealthily removed from the net for public perusal it’s not only a freakin’ sin, but scary as heck.. *sigh*

His name is Mustafer a medical technologist in a hospital. He saw his brother die in this attack.
He was also shaken down by the muzterds when he went home for he had an American passport. It cost him dearly to go home to his brothers funeral. A really good place to come from huh. Better off here without the muzterd ties/ powder is dry.

    ps re: Willy @ 5:01 pm #9

please read post #2 & #16 as one..

you see, with Iraq’s wmd programs not only exported but disseminated, it not only would have been impossible to gather up all the evidence per se, but too many countries were involved, which is why Israel bombed Syria’s nuke facility, and Libya’s Qaddafi surrendered Saddam’s wmd.. hopefully most of it was rounded up or safely disposed of..

I am a former Air Force Target Intelligence Officer. Most of Saddam Hussein’s WMD were sent to Syria before the (Second Gulf War) war. It was very quiet, and not dramatic, like the Iraqi Air Force fleeing to Iran in the First Gulf War. The weapons remain there now, safe (for now) in the hands of another Baathist regime. We went to war for entirely justified reasons; I have never understood why the Bush administration did not say/reveal more in order to clear and defend its reputation. Saddam’s generals repeatedly begged for the use of WMDs to no avail–they were already gone.

Crap, I just typed a long quote, and it went the way of the dodo bird. It was from ‘Because They Hate’ by Brigitte Gabriel, page 94, para. 1, and she states that according to General Georges Sada, Saddam Hussein’s number two official in his air force, WMD were moved out in civilian aircraft with the seats removed to Syria. The flights were thought to be civilian flights providing relief from Iraq to Syria, which suffered a flood after a dam collapse in June of 2002. There were fifty-six flights in all.

  • TammyCracker

Since there seem to be no representatives of the journalism industry (or black arts… whatever it is) here, I will play Devil’s pundit and give their side of this:

I would like to start off with some name calling but I will just refer to you all as “teabaggers” and Rethuglicans for efficiency’s sake. Moving on, yes, Saddam used chemical weapons against his Kurdish subjects and in his war with Iran but his great admiration for Bill Clinton and that administration’s masterful negotiation skills caused him to give up his chemical weapons programs and dispose of all *stockpiles* of such weapons. His refusal to cooperate with the UN inspectors to prove this as he was required to under the terms of his defeat in the first Gulf war was merely because of his desire to save face in the Arab world. Bush and the UN should have just accepted this and let it go but Nooooo. See how distrust leads to war? Maybe we should remember this when Iran asks us to trust that their nuke program is peaceful.

And as for finding WMDs in Iraq, the Bush regime promised us not just WMDs but *stockpiles* of them. For you ignorumasaurs out there, the technical definition of a stockpile is simply twice the amount that is ever verified as having been in Saddam’s possession. Until amounts of WMDs of that scale are discovered there is no point in pretending that this is news.

Now if you will excuse me. There are some new blood libels against Israel that need to be readied for tomorrow’s prime time. And the backsides of Nancy Pelosi and the Obama’s aren’t going to kiss themselves you know.

In the last year, I had the privilege to meet someone who is suffering horribly from contact with something very bad in Iraq during Desert Storm. Her group was moving something when some liquid spilled on all of them. Her skin is bad. She has serious mental issues . . . she has been homeless. She has a very rare cancer that is currently under control. She also has nervous system issues. She has a friend who is caring for her so she is safe for right now.

As soon as she and her fellow soldiers were hit with this liquid, they were doused with something, but it still caused serious physical and mental problems.

She said she couldn’t remember what it was. It doesn’t surprise me considering her health.

Bush Administration Likely Unaware of Documents

[The senior government official and source of the Iraqi intelligence memos, explained that the reason the documents had not been made public before now was that the government has “thousands and thousands of documents waiting to be translated.

“It is unlikely they even know this exists,” the source added.

The government official also explained that the motivation for leaking
the documents “is strictly national security and helping with the war on terrorism by focusing this country’s attention on facts and away from political posturing.”

“This is too important to let it get caught up in the
    political process,” the source told

To protect against the Iraqi intelligence documents being altered or misrepresented elsewhere on the Internet, has decided
to publish only the first of the 42 pages in Arabic, along with the English translation. Portions of some of the other memos in translated form are also being published
to accompany this report. Credentialed journalists and counter-terrorism experts seeking to view the 42 pages of Arabic documents or to challenge their authenticity may make arrangements to do so at’s headquarters in Alexandria, Va.]

    again, not a new revelation..

@ bg, that still doesn’t answer who leaked them and when these and the past documents where leaked. I think a serious investigation needs to be performed and the leakers need to be prosecuted. I am not talking about declassified documents. The leak obviously came after Obama became president.

  • It was known long before the Wikileaks dump, but no one bothered to report it.

The Duefler report detailed hundred of thousands of decalitres of bacillus anthracis stored in the same facility with artillery round designed to deliver the agent.

Tens of thousands of decalitres of bacillus thurengensis was found with 200 yards of hundreds of rounds designed to deliver that agent.

At al Qaa Qaa, 200 tons of yellowcake was supposed to be under U.N. seal, when the Rangers arrived to secure the site, only 188 tons was there.

At another location at al Qaa Qaa the remaining 12 tons was accounted for when it was discovered as 1.2 tons of enriched Uranium.

Numerous chemical weapons caches have been found to round out the trifecta of nuclear, chemical and biological WMD.

I guess a non-governmental leftist site has to report something that the Duefler report, and the Army has said and shown all along.

The Netherlands and the chemical weapons of Iraq

Germany’s leading role in arming Iraq

Iraqi Scientist Reports on German, Other
Help for Iraq Chemical Weapons Program

[The German Company Karl Kolb that is specialized in equipping chemical laboratories played a crucial role in supplying the defunct regime over the past 30 years with toxic chemical materials through a middleman who helped Dr Amir al-Sa’di. Al-Sa’di prepared for his doctorate in chemistry
in this institution and married a German woman. He worked in the Iraqi chemical project and was in charge of coordinating the defunct regime’s transactions and requirements with the management of the Karl Kolb company. In October 1985, the operations of this company ceased by order of the German judiciary after it sold Iraq two electronic systems that test toxic gas inhalation levels. These are used in closed gas chambers where they measure toxic gas reactions with biological tissues. They also measure the level of their effect on animals, such as dogs, donkeys, and mules as well as humans. These gases were tested on prisoners that opposed the Iraqi regime.

The German engineering company NPI in Frankfurt expressed its regrets for the conduct of its colleagues in Karl Kolb in providing Iraq with the necessary technology to build its program to produce poison gases. These gases were used by the Iraqi regime in its wars against its neighbors and its own people. The German companies also sold Iraq seven chemical factories and launchers that could be used as chemical weapons. The Karl Kolb company, that has been under judicial investigation and prosecution since October 1985, also built a camp near Baghdad to test six laboratory units specialized in producing chemical materials to protect plants from locusts. These were sent to the complex in Al-Samarra. In the early 1980s, engineers from NVA, an East German company, built a complex near Baghdad to test chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. It was designed like the non-conventional weapons testing center in East Germany. It is equipped to protect against radiation. It consists of special buildings that are equipped with stations to remove traces of toxicity from equipment, personnel, and military materiel.

In 1984, the German economic monitoring organization gave in to pressures from German public opinion and dispatched two experts to Iraq to inspect the two factories in the Samarra complex. After they returned to their country, they expressed strong suspicions regarding the magnitude of the security systems guarding chemical factories that produce insecticides. One of them testified in the lawsuit against Karl Kolb. He now claims that he was duped at the time by the defunct regime.]

there’s more info via the links, as well as on the net (unless O’s black hole machine sucked it up) and while we did supply chemicals to Iraq (along with umpteen other countries), they were of dual use (iow: necessary for use other than for wmd), not in WMD form.. duh!!

[disclaimer: believe the US stopped dual use shipments to Iraq in 1988 after Saddam chemically bombed the Kurds, other countries however, continued & upped theirs, go figure..]

ps: for future crap that is being “LEAKED”..
oh yeah, and Donkeys don’t lie, they fly.. /s/

France, Russia, China and the Arms Sale.

[In 2001 France was the largest exporter to Iraq with exports totaling 670.3 Million USD. So I find it a bit ironic that Mr. Chirac sold Saddam
the Nuclear Reactor back in the 1970’s and would then willing to help the
UN rid him of WMD, knowing full well that Saddam owes France a lot of money for loans and Arms sales. Mr. Chirac knew that he had no choice but to display his Veto power at the UN, to protect France’s investments.]

but alas, global news doth digress..

ah!! didn’t even get into Chirac’s helping Saddam building of Osirak.. at any rate, there’s way too much “doesn’t matter” baggage being tossed out to distract US from what Obama et al are (or are not) doing NOW, which will not only affect US NOW, but our FUTURE, and that of FUTURE generations, gah!!

  • Interesting

Here is a very good primer on WMD and Iraq, which starts with this published article:

The USA Military found 550 metric tons of yellow cake uranium and parts to make nuclear weapons in Tuwaitha 12 miles south of Baghdad, as proof that George W. Bush, Tony Blair, and the CIA were right about Saddam owning yellow cake uranium. An article 07/08/2008 states, “In recent weeks, the U.S. secretly has helped the Iraqi government ship it all to Canada, where it was bought by a Canadian company for further processing into nuclear fuel — thus keeping it from potential use by terrorists or unsavory regimes in the region. The scary math behind Saddam’s uranium hoard: 500 tons of yellowcake, once refined, could make 142 nuclear weapons. This would seem to vindicate Bush’s decision to invade. According to the AP, the military also discovered ‘four devices for controlled radiation exposure … that could potentially be used in a weapon.’

  • Interesting

At the same page it also quotes the NY Times saying:

As The New York Times confirmed in their issue November 3, 2006, Saddam had complete plans for a nuclear weapon and was in the process of procuring parts when the US removed him. Quote: “nuclear experts who have viewed them say go beyond what is available elsewhere on the Internet and in other public forums. For instance, the papers give detailed information on how to build nuclear firing circuits and triggering explosives, as well as the radioactive cores of atom bombs. Experts say that at the time, Mr. Hussein’s scientists were on the verge of building an atom bomb, as little as a year away.” [65]

It goes on to quote the tapes where Saddam says he would use them on Washington:

In the article , “Saddam Translator: ABC Reinterpreted Tapes” dated Feb. 17th 2006, the FBI translator who supplied the 12 hours of Saddam Hussein audiotapes excerpted by ABC’s “Nightline” says the network discarded his translations and went with a less threatening version of the Iraqi dictator’s comments. In the “Nightline” version of the 1996 recording, Saddam predicts that Washington, D.C., would be hit by terrorists. But he adds that Iraq would have nothing to do with the attack. Tierney says, however, that what Saddam actually said was much more sinister. “He was discussing his intent to use chemical weapons against the United States and use proxies so it could not be traced back to Iraq,” he told Hannity. In a passage not used by “Nightline,” Tierney says Saddam declares: “Terrorism is coming. … In the future there will be terrorism with weapons of mass destruction. What if we consider this technique, with smuggling?” [66]

In the article “Saddam Ordered Suicide Attacks on U.S. Targets” dated April 6th 2006, it states, “A newly translated document from Saddam Hussein’s intelligence files indicates that the Iraqi dictator ordered suicide attacks against U.S. targets six months before the 9/11 attacks.” [68]

    Read it all.

(url given above) It would be great if you would add your research to it and there would be a fuller account of the MSM lies and spin vs truth. I’d sure be keen to read it all once it was posted!

[Anaysis. By Gregory R. Copley, Editor, GIS. Discussion and analysis of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs relating to the former Iraqi Administration of Pres. Saddam Hussein has seriously — and virtually from the beginning — missed the point. By focusing entirely on Iraqi WMD programs within the physical borders of Iraq, and by refusing to discuss contextual issues, the arguments missed the point that the bulk of the Iraqi WMD work since 1991 was conducted outside the borders of the country, this being a result of the lesson which Saddam derived from the 1991 Coalition war against him.

There is a very substantial, historical chain of intelligence — much of which has been cited and verified by Global Information System (GIS) HUMINT sources over the past 14 years and some of which has been verified by external sources — resoundingly confirming this position, which can be summarized as follows:

    1. Documents Moved to Syria: In essence, documentation of that small portion of the WMD program which was administered directly in Iraq was moved, along with other sensitive material and resources, to the Hshishi Compound at al-Qamishli (Kamishli) in Syria, just near the Iraqi border,
in August-September 2002. This was noted by GIS at that time.1

    2. R&D Conducted in Libya: The great bulk of the work on WMD and on associated missile delivery systems, however, was conducted since 1991
in a partnership with Libya, and also with Egypt, at facilities in Libya, in order to keep the programs away from US and United Nations (UN) probes. That, too, was noted by GIS.2]

good thing i copied, pasted & filed
some of these indo docs.. “whew”
