KABOOM! TPM Muckraker Comes Clean – Admits Their Blogger Is Suspected Carnahan Firebomber

Far Left website TPM Muckraker took the offical walk of shame today and admitted that one of their unhinged bloggers was arrested for firebombing Congressman Russ Carnahan’s office. The suspected firebomber blogs at TPM under the name “Ripper McCord.”

TPM reported:
Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-MO) confirmed in a press conference yesterday that the suspect in an alleged arson at Carnahan’s campaign office is a former paid campaign worker named Chris Powers.
Powers has not been charged in the arson case. In a phone interview this morning with TPMmuckraker, Powers denied having any involvement with what local reports have described as a “fire bombing.”
“I’m innocent,” Powers said. “I was at home when Congressman Carnahan’s office was fired on. I have nothing to do with it.”
In the early morning hours of Aug. 17, someone broke a back window in Carnahan’s St. Louis campaign office and set a small fire, which caused minor damage in the office. Police arrested a suspect some hours later. They released him the next day, but have not divulged the suspect’s name. Police say it is up to the prosecutor’s office whether to issue a warrant; without it they can’t hold a suspect or release his name.
Powers’ identity was first reported yesterday by the St. Louis blog Gateway Pundit. After the claim gathered steam online, Carnahan held a press conference and confirmed that Powers is a former campaign worker. Carnahan said Powers was paid as a canvassing worker for about a week, but was fired for “not doing his job.”
When TPM asked Powers if he was the person initially arrested by police, Powers referred us to his lawyer, who was not immediately available for comment.
As several blogs have reported, Powers wrote a reader blog at TPMCafe under the name Ripper McCord. (Any TPM reader can create a blog and comment on the site, and Powers is not affiliated with TPM.)
Of course, the fact that a leftie blogger is also a suspected firebomber surprises no one.
Don’t expect the state-run media to touch this with a ten-foot pole.

St. Louis Post Dispatch actually covered the announcement of the firebomer “suspect” being a Russ Carnhan campaign worker, which was surprising. Even more surprising was Carnahan saying, “It’s our hope that someone is going to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
We’ll see if anyone DOES get prosecuted.

For those who can’t vote for Ed Martin please donate to Ed Martin’s campaign, if you do you will be added to the 98% individual contributions with only 2% PAC money.
Russ Carnahan is relying on his DC connections. His contributions have been running over 50% PAC money.
Ed Martin is running a grass roots campaign for Missouri’s 3rd district. Like Scott Brown Ed is very likable, drives a F-150 truck with 9-11 tribute specialty plates, but the big difference is he is a true blue conservative.

Bombings are nothing new for the Democrats in Missouri. Remember Democrat MO State Senator Jeff Smith’s advisor Milton “Skip” Ohlsen? Skip bombed a lawyer in Clayton in 2008. Chad Garrison of the RFT covered the story. Chad has a short memory.

Of interest is the update quote from Susan Roach, Power’s attorney “He’s basically a disgruntled employee,” she said. “And perhaps a convenient scapegoat.”
The last part is the most interesting, the word “scapegoat” (ie. tossed under the bus). Is this the start of a circular firing squad? This could get even more interesting. I would love to know what papers were in those Bread Co. bags that were being tossed that morning.

Speaking of TPM, it has posters there right now continuing to push the idea that this cabbie stabber was a right winger. One of their own is starting fires in order to blame the Tea Parties and they barely acknowledge it, and then one of their own, in the sense that he was a pro-GZM person, stabs a cab driver and that is an indictment of the right too. Heads we lose, tails they win. And speaking of the stabber, I read that he was carrying a diary with anti-muslim ramblings. To me it looks like he may have been planning to stab the driver, leave the diary, and thereby cast blame on his political opponents. This guy may just be crazy, but if he didn’t expect to get caught, acting crazy – or crazy drunk – is the best thing. Have we ever heard a blood alcohol number on this guy? I would not put anything past the Obamanauts. These people know what is good for us and it is socialism, so when they do it, it isn’t a crime.

Um, correct me if I’m wrong, but he appears to have been a random guy who signed up for a reader blog on TPM, which anyone can do. He wasn’t employed by them or affiliated with TPM any more than I am affiliated with gateway pundit.

This is the most misleading article ever. The person blogged as a “reader” and was not “their” blogger. A lot of big blogs allow readers to post on pages. As the article says — any reader –including you — could have done the same. Good grief.
