Allee Bautsch and her boyfriend Joe Brown

The governor’s office said Monday that Allee Bautsch suffered a broken leg and her boyfriend suffered a concussion and fractured nose and jaw in the alleged incident. (KSLA)

A Republican activist and her boyfriend were savagely beaten in New Orleans on Friday for wearing Sarah Palin pins.
Free Republic reported:

Allee Bautsch, chief campaign fundraiser for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and her boyfriend Joe Brown, were savagely beaten Friday night in New Orleans after leaving a Republican party fundraising dinner by a group of thugs who reportedly targeted the couple because they were wearing Sarah Palin pins.

Bautch’s leg was broken and Brown incurred a broken jaw and nose as well as a concussion.

The Hayride reports that a source who visited Bautsch at the hospital the day after the attack says they were told the couple was attacked for wearing Palin buttons:

Two people at the Brennan’s event have now confirmed that the protest had largely broken up by the time it ended, but we also understand from someone who visited Allee Bautsch in the hospital Saturday morning that she and Brown were followed and attacked expressly because they had Palin pins on (she heard one of the attackers say “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on” – so the attack WAS politically motivated as its victims understood it. It was not a mugging, it was not an argument gone wrong and it was not a bar fight.

The story of a Republican and her boyfriend being viciously attacked for wearing Palin buttons has yet to make national headlines, unlike say, unfounded rumors of nasty words being said by Tea Party protesters.

Related… Anarchists took to the streets in New Orleans on Friday to protest the SRLC, marching to the Hilton Hotel, where a banner was hanging from the roof which said “We won’t pay for their crisis. Become the crisis!” —- The march then headed to Brennan’s Restaurant, where a $10,000 a plate SRLC dinner was in progress.

Later today the Governor’s office sent out this email. The authorities are still investigating the violent attack–

Friday night, the Governor’s campaign fundraiser, Allee Bautsch, and her boyfriend were involved in an altercation in the French Quarter with a group of people.

While there were protestors around at that time, we are not aware of any evidence that the individuals involved in the altercation were protestors.

Allee’s leg was badly broken in the incident, she has had surgery, and she is facing a recovery time of two to three months. Her boyfriend had a concussion, and also a fractured nose and jaw. They are both expected to fully recover.

NOPD is investigating the incident and we are refraining from further comment to allow them to fully investigate and ensure justice is done. Our prayers are with Allee. She is a strong person and we are sure she will make a speedy recovery.

Thanks,

Kyle Plotkin
Office of Governor Jindal
Press Secretary

And, here is another update on the protest that was sent to me today after I published this report:

I am the photographer for the LA GOP and I was at the Brennan fundraiser. When I left about one hour or so after all 3 of the governors left the crowd of protesters had grown. The were very nasty, signs were vulgar using the “F” word. As I left the restaurant I was yelled at – there was a family visiting the restaurant with a baby stroller – they had nothing to do with the fundraiser and they were being heckled using the “F” and “MF” words.. A couple of them made comments to me.
Thanks, Eric

UPDATE: Here is a photo of the crowd outside of Brennan’s–

And, here is video of the protesters by Jeff Blanco at Inside Louisiana News chanting “Fight Back!”:

In their latest update- The Hayride still insists that the attack was politically motivated.

UPDATE: The New Orleans Police released a statement tonight on the beatings. They are looking for two dirty white males; one with a ponytail.

Superintendent Warren J. Riley and members of the New Orleans Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying several suspects wanted in connection with an incident that occurred in the 600 block of Saint Louis Street . The incident occurred Friday April 9, 2010, at approximately 10:45 P.M.

According to investigators, the victims were walking from a function at a restaurant in the 400 block of Royal Street . When they entered the 600 block of Saint Louis Street , three to five Caucasian males made derogatory comments to the 25-year-old female and her 28-year-old male friend. When the male victim turned towards the group of men, one or more of the suspects struck the victim several times. At some point the female victim fell to the ground and screamed. The suspects then fled on foot. Officers in the area heard the female screaming and responded to the scene and broadcasted a description of the suspects and requested Emergency Medical Paramedics. As the female was waiting for EMS , she used her purse as a pillow. When the victim was in the ambulance, she discovered her purse was missing.

The female was transported to a hospital where she was treated for a broken leg. The male victim was also transported to the hospital and was treated for a mild concussion, fractured jaw and nose.

One of the suspects was described as a Caucasian male who appeared to be dirty, in his 20′s, 6’1″ tall, thin build with a thin face. He had a beard and auburn color hair in a pony tail. He was wearing a light color T shirt and dark color pants.

The incident is on-going and detectives are in the process of determining if any surveillance cameras captured the incident.

Investigators are currently working on the incident and at this time the report is not available. Notification will be made to the media when the report is complete and ready for dissemination.

Investigators are in the process of identifying the suspects, as well as a motive. Eighth District Detective Sergeant Nicholas Gernon is in charge of the investigation. Citizens with information that can help solve this crime are asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111, toll-free 1-877-903-STOP(7867). You could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the responsible person(s). You do not have to give your name nor testify to receive the reward.

Kristinn has more on the attack and added this:

BTW, Media Matters can kiss me on both cheeks for attacking Gateway Pundit and Free Republic for our reporting on the brutal attack. (Title: When Gateway Pundit quotes Free Republic, you know the truth is going to lose)

That’s too bad. It looks like the radicals at Media Matters have egg on their face once again.

  2. This is bad.

Sooner or later, patriots will be forced to defend ourselves or die.
No good can come from this if the truth is not properly revealed.

  3. That’s a hate crime. The GOP should be screaming at the top of their lungs about this and demand that AG Holder investigate this immediately.
We’re not talking about broken glass or somebody’s bbq grill here.
These people were violently assaulted and the people responsible should go to jail.

  5. This to me means that we are now in a low-profile cilvil war. When blood starts to flow it’s only right to fight back. While I am sick to death of the left-wing loonies calling us violent and then things like this happen…I am no longer content with taking the moral high ground to prove we are better than them, If i am attacked at a rally….someone will end up in their grave…ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!

  6. Don’t Anarchist know that without the Govt. that they hate so much there would be none of all that free stuff they love? In Anarchy those with the guns will be the overseers, they don’t have the guns. We do. What a bunch of idiots.

  7. Why isn’t every GOP talking point today about this event? The MSM is silent of course, but if the GOP stays silent as well, then that’s their fault.

  8. Someone tell Mrs. Palin – get her on the scene.

    Make a damn scene.

This is, although expected from these Buzz Windrip thugs, not to be tolerated.

Has local law enforcement done jack?

How about the State Police? Are they interested in beatings by political operatives against citizens?

I hope, if this STORY goes viral, though my hope is so thin as to be near-insubstantial, that the ACT OF BEATING CONSERVATIVES doesn’t ALSO go viral.

My hope is slim on this, given the trends I see lately. If this story goes viral, so will the practice of conservative-lynching. (Not coincidentally, by supporters of the Original Lynching Party, and by admirers of Mao, Che, and Castro, whose murderous goons’ behavior they aspire to.)

  9. OK. I’ll say it: You’re stupid to go to one of these things w/o a gun.

Join the heavy handbag club, get training and refuse to be a victim. Guranteed, I am too old to take a beating of this magnatude. I carry a gun because I cannot carry a cop.

  12. I hope this isn’t just more Ashley Todd-ism

  13. Britny.

Ashley Todd carved a B, very lightly, into her cheek.

    We’re talking broken bones here.

  14. For those here, or on any blog, that are spouting violence against violence, that is not a conservative principle. That is someone trying to pose as a conservative to stir something up. This exact tactic has been stated by liberals, on their websites, in regards to plans they have to discredit those with opposing views. It is very sad that some Americans dont want other Americans to have freedom of speech and will go to strange tactics to shut them down. Why do liberals love to pit Americans against other Americans? United we stand, Divided we fall.

  15. I’ve sent this to Drudge, Flopping Aces, and Big Journalism. So far.

  16. Has John Lewis or Barney Frank been reached for comment yet.
Imagine if one of these 2 had been carrying a gun.
THOSE POOR POOR LIBTARD PERPS would be HEADLESS LIBTARD PERPS.

  17. Oh, I think these two should sue the pants off of the mainstream media for inciting people to commit hate crimes. the msm are the ones who have been stoking the fires of Palin hatred, and now that the wonderful Hate Crimes legislation has been passed by Congress, I think the msm should be the first to feel the repercussions of it.

  18. The more I sit here and read/think about this story the more pissed off I am getting. This story needs to be known. I am sure most of you can agree that a person can only take so much befor they snap. Me personally I am getting to that point. The constant attacks by the left calling us Racist, Homophobe bla bla bla are getting very tiring. And the lack of any counter argument for the sake of “Being the bigger person” apparently isn’t working. REAL PEOPLE are getting maimed and hurt and nothing is being done. So if we obviously can’t depend on the system then what can we depend on….or are we just suppost to continously bend over and take it. It won’t be long now till someone gets killed, Then what will happen. Same thing that always happens…NOTHING…unless one of us conservitives does the shootin protecting themselves, then it’ll be a public hangin. I am sorry to say my Conservitive Brother’s and Sisters in Arms…..We Are All Alone..We Must STand Together

  19. We have to put pressure on the police and on the DA to make these criminals pay. For too long, everybody has looked the other way on thuggery visited upon conservatives, whether it’s shooting up a Republican Party office or union goon beat-downs or gay extremists attacking those opposed to same sex marriage.

Not advocating violence, proactive in my own security.
I WILL NOT ALLOW this thuggish behavoir. Civil protests, not public beatings. Hint folks, a cop will shoot you if you try to beat them. Why? Cops know death and severe permanant damage from a beating is very possible. They are a thin blue line because there are not many of them. Step up and secure you safety yourself. Grow up, become responsible adults.
    powder is dry.

  23. We can thank our own DA here in St. Louis for basically ignoring and letting the perps off for the Gladney beating that took place at Russ Carnahan’s town hall by the purple-shirted SEIU thugs.

The escalation is on purpose – the “authorities” won’t crack down because we haven’t responded yet. When conservatives respond – expect a violent crack down by the govt. on conservatives.

Barry’s election was a coup – how much more proof do you people need?

    ——-

I hate to break the news to you, but we are already in the opening stages of an uncivil war, a war not of our choosing.

The good that can and will come from the not reporting of truth is the end of the current progressive regime, from politics to the media to the schools.

Jefferson wrote: “Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government…”

As the hellthcare rammed through on procedural shenanigans proves, Tyranny is not just for other countries anymore.

  25. Send this to Palin via Facebook or whatever she’s using to communicate… she’ll take the ball and run with it.

  26. Sent to AceofSpadesHQ, Big Government, Michelle Malkin.

    Doin’ my part.

  27. Maybe Obama should make a statement about racism against whites, then hold a beer session with Allee, her boyfriend and the muggers. After all, it’s the right thing to do…

  28. Folks, legitimate self-defense is NOT (repeat: NOT) “vigilantism” or “unnecessary” or “un-conservative”.

Self-defense is a fundamental human right. Utilizing firearms to exercise the right to life ought to be an a-political principle of any civilized society. In the moment of attack, when life and limb are in jeopardy, the use of violence in response to violence is only logical and just.

All law-abiding citizens ought to be armed citizens.

  29. Everyone go buy a Palin T-shirt or twenty.

    And learn to defend yourself.

  30. I’ll admit that I’m frequently afraid to wear a Palin or Reagan t-shirt or something when I go into Memphis. I’m often alone and kind of on the shrimpy side. So other than packing a .38, which I do sometimes, but would hardly pull out just because someone verbally abused me, I’m concerned about this sort of thing myself.

Memphis is a cesspool of hate and bullying.

I agree with the first comment above that perhaps a holster should be the new conservative badge.

  31. Callin my Congressan (Herger-R)…..they need to know about this

  32. This is not cool at all and if this continues, there will be a backlash that this country has never seen. I am warning all you tea party protester, that are going to your rally’s on tax day please Be Careful. I will not sit for long and watch this kinda of stuff happen. If peoples freedom of speech will not be protected in Obama land. You’ll need to do whats necessarry to protect yourself.

  33. The country continues to melt down. Widespread anarchy is right around the corner. I will not go down without a fight.

What makes you think we Anarchists don’t have guns? What make you further think that we like free stuff?

    Heck…do you think?

  35. I used to dismiss the talk that there won’t be elections in November… but if this kind of behavior continues/escalates/spreads, that’s exactly the road we’re heading down.

Now is the time for a leader to put a stop to it… unless it is to that leader’s advantage to let it continue.

  36. I would be embarrassed to admit that a liberal beat my ass.

If this happened, the people who did it should be shot. But, the whole, get them they have Palin pins on is just a little hokey. Obviously they were assaulted and hurt badly, but NO is a cesspool full the the worst degenerates society has to offer so I’d hold up on making this a Palin attack issue.

  37. I sent this link to my Congressman – Blaine Leutkemeyer – asking him to call on his fellow House Republicans to shine the light of day on this.

  38. The media has a much larger part to play in all of this than people seem to realize. Based on what they report, and more importantly, don’t report, we have an effective brainwashing of much of the public going on.

  39. EVEN MORE LEFTIST VIOLENCE!

Investigators are trying to find out who threw a flammable device at the home of Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s (R) chief spokesman.

Barry is just looking for an excuse to declare martial law. What too many people don’t understand is that it will be a Reichstag fire kind of violence, initiated by our lefties. If the deck is stacked and we’re going to have problems anyway, better to bring them out in the open and get it over with.

  41. It’s New Orleans.

There are more criminals in that city than potential victims.

Maybe they were just looking at the buttons to see if they were valuable.

However, if this was politically related, the perps are cowards. This will end when the first of these politically motivated perps picks on people who are packing heat and not video cameras.

  42. Absent video evidence, I am always skeptical regarding reports of alleged “hate crimes.” One of the tools of gay radicals and minority activists is to injure themselves, fabricate stories of attacks, or pretend they are threatened in order to garner sympathy and/or focus attention on the issue du jour. This is not to say that bias attacks don’t occur any more, but that enough phony attacks have happened to cast doubt on stories without witnesses or physical evidence.

This behavior is not exclusive to the left; remember that in 2008, the right at large almost became victimized by that lunatic woman who carved a backwards “B” on her face and alleged that she was mugged by a black man at an ATM and then disfigured for having a McCain/Palin bumper sticker on her car.

I am going to keep my powder dry — metaphorically speaking, libs — for the moment.

  43. Forewarned is forearmed…Tea Party events ARE being targeted, and the word is out that Libs and Demon-thugs , infiltrators of various natures, will be in attendance to stir up trouble. They will be relatively few in number, but vocal…surround them and beat them at their own game, shout them down, expose them, remove them from the gathering. But, don’t allow yourselves to be put into the position these folks were. Stay in groups, and for heavens sake, if you have the right to carry concealed…do so! It is for your own protection, and those with you! Peaceful gatherings are a First amendment Right, so bring cameras, video equipment, recorders…it will expose them, face them down, demand they remove their masks, and chase them out of your midst!

  46. These brave people need to be on Sean Hannity’s show pronto. The word of this needs to be spread as fast as possible. It is so obvious the left is the cause of all the violence and hatred realted to politics in the country and sadly we know Keith Olbermann and his ilk won’t give this story the time of day. This country better wake up or we are all doomed.

  47. Democrats not anarchist.

Why would anarchists care about Palin?

  48. L.N. Smithee

If you go back and read the accounts of the Todd incident, you’ll see that she was MOST LIKELY a DOUBLE MOBY.

Just prior to becoming a QUOTE McCain Supporter UNQUOTE, she was a member of that group of decepticons known as PAULBOTS. Couple that with the fact that she admitted she made it all up ALMOST IMMEDIATELY.

This had the effect of tarnishing the Republicans as racists who do things like carve letters on their faces and blame non-existant black men.

Almost like that was what she intended.

It takes some measure of discernment, but I am about 99% sure that she did this to tarnish Republicans.

  49. If it were Anarchists they would be attacking Obama Bots and black people.

Too smart by half, WE pay for the vast public property, I’ll be damned if I will restricted in my rights. This is the kind of weak behavior that enables the left to push farther. No more, if you feel threatened stay home, this is about country not self.
Be prepared to stand up and be counted as a patriot.

  58. Maybe this is why Andy Stern had to abruptly resign. Clearly this is a hate crime and the law needs to be struck down if it is only going to serve selective democrats. The cold war in this country has escalated into warm bloddy hostility. Obama has said NOTHING to cool things down. Eric Cantor is the only person who has spoken of this growing violance in proper terms.

    An understandable thought.
I am reminded of what my son said when he was 12.
“I did not make the people in prison do the crime. ”
It is what it is. To say that all of any group is the problem is an oversimplification and not true.

  60. M.C.,
Your son sounds like he’s got good parents.

“I did not make the people in prison do the crime.”

Careful, when he gets to college, they’ll try their level best to make him believe that somehow, in some esoteric way, he did make them do the crime. Because he’s not poor, or because he’s white, or because he’s a member of the dominant patriachal capitalistic non-sustainable hegemony endemic to the blah blah blah blah, that he’s guilty and must shoulder the blame for what got the folks in prison.

    (snip)

It takes some measure of discernment, but I am about 99% sure that she did this to tarnish Republicans.

Remember that Ashley Todd — the perpetrator of that hoax — constantly updated her Facebook page that evening with her cell phone to track herself to the supposed scene of the crime, sending the message that she was lost, in a bad area, and yet STILL got out of her car and went to an outdoor ATM. Reeeal smart. Then, she said she was held down on the sidewalk by the knees of the phantom hulking black man, which would be a strange thing for a mugger to do — all they want is money. They don’t usually stick around to torture their victims in plain sight, especially when there is a security camera.

I honestly don’t think she was either mentally stable enough or clever enough to deliberately carve the “B” backwards. That’s the action of a ditz dumb enough to think everyone would swallow the initial story, not one who strategically devised a false hate crime to impugn the McCain campaign. IMHO, the fact that she was previously a self-identified Paulite leans the body of evidence against her being that deep a thinker.

I think she wanted a shortcut to international fame and adoration, and f[ouled] up.

  62. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Folks, you need to have a knife on you and get your CCW and carry, and then have the mindset that you are going to move some furniture.

If you can fight, then go to some rallies in counter-thug mode. When it starts, hit back twice has hard.

  63. Bring a camera to the tea party protests.

If you want to let the world know what’s really going on, you’ll need to record it.

I’ll say it again: BRING A CAMERA.

  64. Not surprising in the least. The left has always believed in the use of violence as a legitimate form of political activism. Whether it’s the Wheather Underground, Black Panthers or just common street thugs, they all have their part to play in furthering the views of the far left.

  65. The MSM have always said “Palin incites violence”. Apparently she could incite violence with her pins.

Wouldn’t they love to label her a terrorist, and sent her out to, may be, Afghanistan where US citizen terrorist suspects have to watch over their heads at all times?

  66. attacked expressly because they had Palin pins on (she heard one of the attackers say “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on” – so the attack WAS politically motivated as its victims understood it. It was not a mugging, it was not an argument gone wrong and it was not a bar fight.

Yeah. And Saddam Hussein attacked us on 9/11 and it was a slam dunk that he had WMD. Even the worst screenwriter in the world would not write “let’s get them, they have palin pins on.”

Anybody remember the girl that carved the “b” into her face and said black guys attacked her because she worked for McCain?

    Didn’t think so.

  67. A-HA!!!!!!

  68. Conservatives believe in deterrence, do we not?

A strong military means enemies don’t even think about fighting the US.

So why don’t conservatives believe in deterring leftists from attacking us?

I know, I know, it’s because we believe in law and order. We know that retaliation means a cycle of violence.

But think about it, we’re already in a cycle of violence, but it’s only one way, leftists attack conservatives but not the reverse. It’s never going to end because we don’t strike back.

If conservatives attacked two leftists for every conservative that they attacked, eventually they’d stop, or face ongoing pain forever. Even a crazy leftist will make the rational choice and stop attacking conservatives.

It’s time to take action. Temporarily abandon your commitment to law and order and attack leftists in the same way they’re attacking us.

That’s the best way to return to civility, let them know that they’re not the only ones who will go outside the law to get what they want. Both sides then stand down and we can get back to making rational arguments to persuade voters.

But until we take action, leftists will continue to attack conservatives and we’ll continue to be pressured to hide our true beliefs.

  69. First of all, this story must be proven, which I’m sure several people are working on. Then we must go on the offensive and demand justice for these people.
I do think they are trying to incite violence from conservatives. Don’t fall for it.

  70. This is not a Hate Crime – or a crime at all. This is Tolerance and Diversity. Stop The Hate!!

  71. To all leftist loonies.. I am willing to furnish my personal address and location and am offering an open invitation to “attempt” this same sort of an assault on me. As the old saying goes… kill a commie for mommie….

Hm…sooooo…you’ll bait someone into a fight so you can go to the media and claim you were attacked? Interesting!

  72. Hey, “Paul” (#71) – I remember.

You may want to try reading the comments before jumping in and making an ass of yourself.

On second thought, making an ass of you would be redundant.

  73. I followed this link, unfortunately, to get information about this incident. What I’ve discovered is that there is apparently a large population of morons in this country that are armed. You people frighten me more than the thugs roaming the streets of my city – New Orleans. Thank God for Morris Dees and the Southern Proverty Law Center and Klan Watch for keeping an eye on you inbred idiots.

  74. cznola,

Way to push that democrat meme.

    Congrats.

  75. It’s not really a TeaParty it’s a confederacy of dunces as evidenced from the comments contained here. Go ahead, make my day – “reload” and keep aiming your weapons at yourself! If it is a war you want, keep shooting yourself in the foot.

  76. cznola,
It’s not conservatives with guns who are breaking people’s noses, cheekbones, and legs for their Fuhrer. It’s the Democrats, the originators of the Klan that you mention. It’s the Democrats, the inventors of lynching in America, who are doing these things. It’s the Democrat SEIU union thugs who are biting fingers off. It’s Democrats who are throwing molotov cocktails through GOP headquarters windows nationwide (three, or is it four, now? in the last 3 weeks.)

But, it is good that you fear conservatives with guns. Maybe, just maybe, it will keep you from attempting to emulate your party’s Klan, and join the lynch-mob. That is a healthy fear, which will probably save your life. Always keep that fear in the back of your mind when you think you want to get violent on someone for having a different opinion than you, and when you think that you and your gang should break the bones of American citizens for disagreeing with you.

Just remember, when you get that INEVITABLE savage urge to injure someone with all your friends, that we’re dumb, and we have guns.

  77. A broken leg, broken nose, broken jaw, and a concussion are not easily self-inflicted. Even the census employee who killed himself didn’t do anything more than scrawl “fed” on his tummy. Weirder things have happened but I doubt you’d risk killing somebody or yourself just to get some attention and score some political points.

  78. Wearing Palin buttons is a blatantly racist act and will be not be tolerated.

  79. Firearms: don’t leave home without them.

  80. This thread will break 200, if the Insane Clown Troll ratio stays this high.

  81. BTW, Paul — exactly WHO said “Saddam Hussein attacked us on 9/11″ ?

    Be careful how you answer.

  82. I grew up in Pensacola, Fl. and went to NO all of my younger life. The place is as close to the old wild West as you will ever see in a modern city. There are more felons on the police force and holding public office than in NO jails. On the CCW permit issue, I have one but if you goto any event like this one where there is booze served and you partake, you cannot carry. This was at Brennan’s famous resturant and they do have some decent wine. Most of us conservatives have given up on bumper stickers ans shirts that will incite the lower IQ crowd, black or white, and in the future anyone attending a public conservative event should be aware of the element that will be watching. Try to move in small crowds. Have hired policemen standing by after the event to help people to their cars etc. The uncivil war has indeed begun and we must make sure that any escalation is by the other side. I am not suggesting turning the other cheek but pictures and recordings will be a lot more helpful than blood. Remember what the Unicorn said, “If they bring a knife we will bring a gun”.

  83. This was bound to happen given the outlandish statements made against Palin…particularly from the cowardly likes of Andrea Mitchell & Chris Matthews at MSNBC. They have fostered HATE against Palin for months. Notice the silence of the elitist left wing media on this? Sarah Palin…and we…are in a fight for the soul of the United States. This is a time for courage, patriotism, action and grit…because we and Sarah Palin intend to win. http://www.reagantopalin.com/

  84. “Go ahead, make my day – “reload” and keep aiming your weapons at yourself! If it is a war you want, keep shooting yourself in the foot.”

Oh look everybody, Ignatz quoted Palin. Isn’t he cute?

  85. “I followed this link, unfortunately, to get information about this incident.”

OK, Strawman. Come back and let us know what you find.

  86. LNS, #66
“IMHO, the fact that she was previously a self-identified Paulite leans the body of evidence against her being that deep a thinker.”

In mine, this fact leans it TOWARD her being a conniving, planning, plotting, thrice-deceptive piece of dog-doo, who would do exactly something like she did. That’s all Paulians did – deceive, trick, and game. Paulians are social engineers, and that’s the only way they know to “spread their message”, by deceit and trickery. I contend that she and all her Paulbot friends planned this well in advance. They “kick” her out of the party, she “joins” the McCain camp, just to do this, for exactly the effect that it had – tarnishing Repubs.

  87. @inspectorudy: Always bring guns (plural). No “ifs”, “ands”, or “buts”.

  88. Ummm.. if they were being followed, presumably from behind, how did they know these folks were wearing pins on their front? Especially if it’s night, and pins are small? I’m all for defending one’s self and their right to speak their mind, but this sounds fishy.

  89. I’m willing to believe it, simply because I know how aggressive the left wing SA usually is (or “anarchists” for that matter, the “black block” in Germany is known to burn and pillage when they march in protests.)

I’ve seen the videos from the “anti-islamisation” congress in Cologne from two years ago and, while the videos showed no actual violence, they showed two things:

    1) the total and complete surrender of the strong arm of the law (aka the police) to the left wing SA that ruled the streets in those days

    2) lynch mob mentality against everyone who the mass of people deemed to be even just remotely “right wing”.

One incident shown in the vidoes shows a man ,about mid 30s, and his mother how they try to get through a huge crowd of leftists (most of them not even 20), not because they want to the congress, but simply because they live on the other side. The incident led to several “youths” getting into the man’s face (close to attacking him) and to thousands screaming “Nazis raus!” (out with the nazis), implying that the man and his mother were nazis. Police was present and what they did was not to protect the man and his mother, but rather banning the man and his mother from the premises (a public square in Cologne.) They were later interviewed and his mother was still shaken from this experience even days later.

There are people in Germany calling for the German army to be mobilised during such events.

May 1st is coming. Berlin always has massive riots on May 1st. This year people in Berlin are expecting a full scale surrender of the police to the rioters. Berlin has 2,000 cops, not nearly enough for the riots. Other cities won’t be able to send additional forces, because they’re expecting to have massive riots as well.

Anarchists, leftists and so called “anti-fascists” are the fascists in our streets.

Time we take our countries back from the fascists.

    Locked and loaded.

  90. Thank you, Taqiyyotomist, for proving my point in quite a spectacular fashion. By the way, I’ve never committed a violent act in my life, nor wanted to, for that matter, but I have my doubts about you, considering your pathetic veiled threat to my safety. Watch it, my friend, your hypocrisy is showing.

  91. It’s pretty interesting that everyone here has taken this story as gospel, even though the only evidence we have that they were attacked because they were wearing Palin pins was the victims claim they heard someone say: “They have Palin pins on, let’s get them!” (what were they, in an movie of the week or something? Who says that?) But I guess this is clearly incontrovertible proof to you all.
Though it’s odd that most everyone commenting here also commented on the story about Tea Partier’s yelling racial epithets at CBC members over Health Care legislation. Except it seems that everyone is unwilling to accept the victim’s version of the events in THAT case and are completely certain the victims are lying. I’m confused, how is it so easy for you to know who’s lying and who’s not? Let me guess, to know the “truth”, you don’t need facts, just party affiliation. How clever.
Please feel free to let me know when there’s video of the attackers yelling “they have Palin pins on…” Since that’s apparently the only standard that matters. Sorry, but I didn’t make that rule up, that was you all….

  92. cznola, that was not a threat.

    I don’t do threats. I merely offered a warning.

And of course you don’t want to do violence. There’s only one of you. That is likely to change when you get yourself in a group, given the trends of late.

Besides, (my friend) – I don’t own a gun. However, many on my “side”, that is, the side of freedom and not of fascism and thuggishness, do.

  93. Pepper Spray is a wonderful thing. It gives an option short of lethal force.

  94. This is a hate crime! Send their butts to prison for beating someone for their political beliefs! Go after these commie thugs!

  95. Trying to find that video, but youtube has deleted many of those videos, due to… violation of terms of use. Censortube at work.

  96. NO is becoming the new Detroit. This is what happens when black thugs run things. Am I racist? I am not! Am I right? Yes I am!

  97. Taqiyyotomist,

Please leave cznola alone. He/she is very busy plucking a chicken.

  98. And let me be clear, it’s horrendous that these people were attacked. Violence is never justified. (except in self defense). Those who did this should be caught and prosecuted.
I am in New Orleans quite often, it can be quite dangerous at times. I know people who been rolled after a night out, a few drinks, and taking a wrong turn. It happens. But proof that this was politically motivated? I’d like to see a little more evidence please…

Though I know you all are absolutely certain it happened. Heck, you all probably knew BEFORE it happened.

  99. So now, in addition to a designated driver, we need a designated marksman to get home. Every time this happens there are a few more second amendment converts.

  100. cznola:

Thank God for Morris Dees and the Southern Proverty Law Center and Klan Watch for keeping an eye on you inbred idiots.

    1. Morris Dees and the SPLC served a purpose in the days when the KKK was an active and viable threat to blacks — such as myself — throughout America. There was a time when the KKK had tens of thousands of members in every corner of America. Dees practically bankrupted the Klans across the nation and rendered them impotent.

Mission accomplished? Nope — without a Klan to battle, there’s little reason for the SPLC to exist. So they now keep the spectre of a return of racist hordes threatening minorities alive by expanding the definition of “hate group” to those that criticize minority activist groups.

To what extent? One example: the SPLC once listed among anti-Obama racists on its website a particular blonde, blue-eyed, white Christian woman who contributes essays to a right-wing website. One thing the SPLC conveeeniently forgot to mention is that this alleged hater was also a prominent volunteer staffer for the 2000 Presidential campaign of … David Duke? No. Pat Buchanan? No. Wait for it …

…Alan Keyes. Yeah, she REALLY had a problem with a black man becoming President!

    2. If you are going to call other people “idiot,” make sure you proofread your comment. Otherwise, people might think you’re inbred and living in “proverty.”

  101. “Though I know you all are absolutely certain it happened. Heck, you all probably knew BEFORE it happened.”

    ————————————–
    Lordy, another chicken plucker!

  102. cznola is more afraid of law-abiding citizens who carry firearms for self-defense than of criminal thugs who beat people in the street.

    And he/she/it calls US morons?

    Wow.

    Projecting much?

  103. If the Palin supporters had taken Kung-Fu classes, they would have been able to fight back. It’s time to take our country back!

  104. “And of course you don’t want to do violence. There’s only one of you. That is likely to change when you get yourself in a group, given the trends of late.”

Taqq, that’s dead on. Alone they’re cowards. But in a group they’re suddenly strong and “brave”. Then they dare to gang up 20 against one.

Yes cznola, the armed citizen scares you. The law abiding citizen scares you. You’re more afraid of armed and law abiding citizens than of criminals?

    Jeez, I wonder why.

Oh, I know. The goal must be to disarm the citizens, right? Because then there won’t be any crimes anymore and the state then just arrests those that have guns, because only criminals would have guns, right?

Say hello to the police state.

    Heil Obama.

“Just remember, when you get that INEVITABLE savage urge to injure someone with all your friends, that we’re dumb, and we have guns.”

    That’s a threat? Hardly.

You attack me, I shoot you. That simple. If I don’t have my Glock with me, then it’s likely I carry my sword. Which means, then I’ll cut you up like a fish. I will defend myself against fascists. No matter what.

  105. Listen to yourselves. You’re being exactly what you portend to despise. Unthinking, reactionary, and violent. If the people who were attacked had used a firearm to defend themselves, even without pulling the trigger, they would surely have been charged with a crime. Keep your weapons holstered until a shot is fired.

Ask this question though, “Where are Bobby Jindal and the Louisiana state police?” The governor could call a news conference at any time and the MSM would be there. Where is he?

  106. Taqiyyotomist:

“That is a healthy fear, which will probably save your life.”

“Just remember, when you get that INEVITABLE savage urge to injure someone with all your friends, that we’re dumb, and we have guns.”

Hmmm, sounds like threats to me. And you accuse me of having “savage urges?”

  107. I had a dream about the rise of a group called The New World Order. They were backed by young people along the lines of the brownshirts in the Nazi regime. Last night I thought of that dream and today I read this. It will only get worse. (drop dead if you don’t believe in dreams: read the Bible)

  108. This really pisses me off.

I’ve been living here in Missouri for the last twenty years, but I was born and raised in New Orleans.

    My family is still there.

I cannot believe that native New Orleanians would attack that couple like that.

EVERYONE I know from New Orleans is conservative.

The NOPD is usually pretty good with dealing with thugs who prey on innocent victims.

New Orleans…what the hell is wrong with you??Are you stupid?

  109. This is excellent news for all of us who thoroughly enjoy watching the escalation in acts of political violence between the left and the right. If only there were video of this incident. Bring it on and pass the popcorn. Better than pay per view.

  110. Nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change! YES WE CAN.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY

  111. Leftists, read this for your own safety.

I will be carrying at my local Tea Party on 4/15.

If any of you approaches me or anyone else with hostile intent, I will kill you.

    The End.

“Listen to yourselves. You’re being exactly what you portend to despise. Unthinking, reactionary, and violent.”

I’m the violent one when I say I’ll defend myself and the people I love?

What else am I supposed to do? Let the fascists kill me? Oh yeah, then I’m on the moral high ground. Great.

    I’ll also be dead.

    No thanks.

  113. What in the world is this page doing on the First Things site? Sure the story is bad, and I believe the political motivation, but the comments here are disproportionately crazy. Gateway Pundit should be moved to a new location. There are plenty of places that are full of this stuff. First Things is a treasure and should be preserved.

  114. Anyone who likes to underestimate our enemies and the damage they can inflict because they are liberals….I.E….Socialists, might I remind you that Germany at one time was completely populated with these types of people.
Some of the Huns are letting their mask slip and the head Bolshevik(yet another example of these odd types) in the WH must be laughing his head off.

  115. Watney… you’ve never seen a leftist blog it seems.

Crazy? You’re calling people who’re getting spat on by their government and who’re slowly but steady getting angry crazy?

So, if I say that, if I would be in that situation, I would shoot the thugs, I’m crazy?

    What would you do?

Let them beat you up, right? That’s not crazy. Nope, that’s the moral high ground, that’s politically correct, that’s sophisticated and mature, right?

  116. I blame Mike Malloy,Chris Matthews,Ed Shultz,The Daily KOS,The Democratic Underground,Rachel Maddow,Nancy Pelosi and Mark Fiore for promoting and pushing this hatred of the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin.

These people need to be held accountable for the assault on this couple as a result of the hate they spew.

  117. BTW, I’ve been reading comments on newspaper websites and political blogs from the Netherlands.

People there are saying if anything happens to Wilders in the coming elections, there will be civil war in the Netherlands. If anything happens to him there will be war. That’s the sentiment that’s spreading throughout the Netherlands.

I guess these Dutch people are also crazy for wanting to keep the Netherlands free and democratic.

I guess the Founding Fathers were also crazy.

  118. I love America, but there is nothing magical about America’s borders that causes it to be OK to defend her against evil in, say, Iraq, yet requires us to be defenseless against terrorists in New Orleans or St. Louis.

The Second Amendment places upon us a duty to carry arms in service of the unorganized militia. It requires us to use them to defend the interior of our nation, not only against terrorists like al-Qaeda, but also against al-Qaeda’s allies in the Democrat Party, ACORN, SEIU, MoveOn, and the Brady Campaign.

  119. Paul yet again:

Please feel free to let me know when there’s video of the attackers yelling “they have Palin pins on…” Since that’s apparently the only standard that matters. Sorry, but I didn’t make that rule up, that was you all….

    You are (not surprisingly) confused.

The video evidence of the incident of which it was alleged the word “–gg–” was loudly shouted at least a dozen times at black legislators and one Congressman was spit upon was exclupatory. So is the fact that there is no Capitol Police report confirming the initial statements from Rep. Cleaver’s staff that a man was handcuffed and detained, released only after Cleaver supposedly refused to press charges.

The final nail in the coffin proving the entire story is a line of bovine? The fact that the only video of the actual scene shows Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. holding not one, but TWO Flip-like video cameras of the procession through the hostile crowd. We have never seen those videos, despite Andrew Breitbart’s bounty of $100,000 to the United Negro College Fund for evidence of the word “–gg–” being shouted.

So, let’s be very clear about what you’re saying, Paul. You’re saying that Jesse Jackson, Jr. is foregoing $100,000 for the United Negro College Fund by refusing to prove that racial slurs were shouted at him. Are you going to say in all honesty that makes sense to you?

  120. ‘Through the welter, before Doremus’s eyes, jabbed a flying wedge of Minute Men, led by what he was later to recognize as a cornet of M.M.’s. They were not on duty, and they were not belligerent; they were cheering, and singing “Berzelius Windrip went to Wash.,” reminding Doremus of a slightly drunken knot of students from an inferior college after a football victory. He was to remember them so afterward, months afterward, when the enemies of the M.M.’s all through the country derisively called them “Mickey Mouses” and “Minnines.”

‘An old man, shabbily neat, stood blocking them and yelled, “To Hell with Buzz! Three cheers for F.D.R.!”

‘The M.M.’s burst into hoodlum wrath. The cornet in command, a bruiser even uglier than Shad Ledue, hit the old man on the jaw, and he sloped down, sickeningly. Then, from nowhere, facing the cornet, there was a chief petty officer of the navy, big, smiling, reckless. The C.P.O. bellowed, in a voice tuned to hurricanes, “Swell bunch o’ tin soldiers! Nine o’ yuh to one grandpappy! Just about even—”

‘The cornet socked him; he laid out the cornet with one foul to the belly; instantly the other eight M.M.’s were on the C.P.O., like sparrows after a hawk, and he crashed, his face, suddenly veal-white, laced with rivulets of blood. The eight kicked him in their head with their thick marching shoes. They were still kicking him when Doremus wriggled away, very sick, altogether helpless’

–from “It Can’t Happen Here” (1935) by Sinclair Lewis. Signet Classics, pp. 94,95

If you haven’t read it, this dude was quite prophetic, and appears to have seen today. I got it ordered from my local library a week ago, I’m on chapter 10, and he’s an author to compare with Orwell, if not to surpass him.

The above is a scene where our protagonist is visiting a crowded NYC for the DNC convention, which Windrip/Obama is about to take.

  121. The Left has been inciting violence and working on justification of it with their calling the tea party racists, homophobes, violent, etc.. I suspect they are trying to whip their minions into a frenzy to intimidate the tea party. The Left wants to drive the opposition off the streets and silence them. One way or another. Goon in Chief Obama said if they bring a knife, you bring a gun, get in their face… so be prepared. Guns, knives, canes, pepper spray are fine but be sure you have a camera too. With unemployment of the brainwashed youth at record highs this could get interesting.

  122. Leftists are now unhinged. I am more then willing if they try and attack me. I assure you they will be in hospital and not me.

  123. Gun Control & IQ Tests
Shouldn’t some sort of mental competency be required to own or carry a gun? Why is it that the lowest percentile of measurable intelligence in Americans coincides with the highest percentile of gun owners.

    TeaParty = Confederacy of Dunces

  124. Hey, Ignatius J. Reilly –

Your idiotic, hate-filled rants besmirch the name of one of the great fictional characters.

  125. It’s a Trollalanche!

It happens. But proof that this was politically motivated? I’d like to see a little more evidence please…

Though it’s odd that most everyone commenting here also commented on the story about Tea Partier’s yelling racial epithets at CBC members over Health Care legislation. ………………. end of clip………………..

    Paul, you don’t get it.

In the case of the false leftist claim of spitting and racial epithets, conservatives produced video showing that those claims were false. The reward that Breitbart offered for any video proving that the leftist claims were true went from $10,000 to $100,000, with no takers.

Don’t you see? The victims of that crime have made a statement about what they heard and experienced. They’re claiming leftists attacked them because they were wearing Palin pins.

It’s up to leftists to provide proof your assertion that the crime wasn’t politically motivated.

That’s what conservatives did in the case of the now disproved Obamacare racial and spitting claims. That’s the standard that conservatives have set. If we dispute what leftists say, we provide video proof.

If you’re disputing how the first person accounts by those injured victims, you have to provide the video proof. After all, that’s what conservatives did to show that leftists had lied.

Apparently the leftists outnumbered the conservatives and they attacked them. Surely one of them had a camera to prove that the conservatives attacked first?

Look, there are dozens and dozens of examples of leftists attacking conservatives and conservatives do nothing in response.

The fact is, leftists are cowards and will cut and run at the first sign of resistance.

Conservatives have been brought up not to bully the weak, except now leftists have learned that they can attack conservatives and get away with it.

The reality is that leftists know that conservatives will turn the other cheek, effectively turning conservatives into cowards and victims.

It’s time to deter leftists by using their own tactics against them. Only then will they stop and once that happens, we’ll stop too.

  127. JPL17,

I was thinking “Grima Wormtongue,” myself.

  128. What makes anybody on this a site think that if O’sh**head declares martil law (and I do think that is his plan) that our military which is probably
80% from conservative families would turn on they’re families if ordered to do so by the JACKASS in chief

  129. i was gonna say it but someone already did, beating someone for their political views IS a hate crime and should be treated as such

  131. I support gun control because I envy people who have the balls to carry them.

I’m scared of firearms because they are way too mechanical for me, and they also are associated with the outdoors. I spend all my time indoors so I won’t have to show my fat ugly ass outdoors.

Despite my having no proof of my claim that gun owners are stupid, I believe it’s true. After all, when I am not surfing child porn sites, I am using my mom’s basement computer to look up the latest posts on Daily Kos. That makes me ejikated.

  132. cznola #78 – Thank God for Morris Dees and the Southern Proverty Law Center and Klan Watch for keeping an eye on you inbred idiots.

Southern Poverty Law Center Officially Declared “Left-Wing Hate Group”
    By J. Matt Barber
    Friday, March 26, 2010

Though always left of center, the Atlanta-based Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) once had a reputation as a fairly objective civil rights group. Founded by direct-marketing millionaire Morris Dees and partner Joseph Levin Jr. in 1971, the SPLC made important and honorable contributions to many of the historic civil rights gains of the 20th Century. According to its own materials, the SPLC was “internationally known for tracking and exposing the activities of hate groups.”

Alas, “power corrupts,” as it goes, and the SPLC, having amassed tremendous power and wealth over the years, has regrettably become corrupt to its core. By way of an ever-escalating wave of “us-versus-them” money-grubbing schemes, Today’s SPLC has morphed into a far-left political activist outfit, famous for promoting a panoply of extreme liberal causes.

Thats easy, because the ones with the IQ’s that are less than the educated, high IQ types bust their asses, are content with their religions, their family and friends and rewards from their hard work and detest Bolshevik pansy types who like to leech off of their labor.
At times, rare times, a group of Bolsheviks comes along and “rules” against the will of the lower IQ gun toting types, who are the vast majority of American’s in this country.

To boil it all down, the Bolsheviks spent too much time in school just to come out to see those who they feel are inferior have created companies and careers that the Bolshevik just can’t match….The high IQ Bolshevik is envious to the extreme and wishes harm on those they feel are inferior and your feeling scared and upset because the lower IQ types aren’t “stupid enough” to throw down our weapons.

    Hence, tough cookies Bolshevik.

  136. Webmaster,is there some specific reason why my posts are not being displayed. This is not the first time

  137. Notice that a GROUP of men chased down a COUPLE, a man and a woman.

Bet we won’t be seeing any GROUPS of men wading into the MUCH LARGER GROUPS of people at a real tea party.

But if they do, by God we will be ready for them. I’m fifty years old and arthritic, but enthusiasm can make up for a LOT of defects. Show me a communist thug and I’ll show you one sitting on his @$$.

  138. Contrary to TeaParty beliefs, the trajectory of a species rate of survival can’t be attributed to the caliber of their guns but rather to natural selection based on intelligence.

Do guns compensate for a lack of intelligence?

  139. L.N.S. #143.

No problem, we can disagree. In fact, I think I may be the only person on the entire internet who sees the Ashley Todd incident like I do, so I’m used to folks thinking it’s a crackpot theory.

(Which it is, to an extent, since I can’t prove it with my resources…just one of those little things I “think” is probably true.)

I would rather overestimate their cunning than underestimate it. Yes, some Paulbots are pretty ign’int. That they believed the polls which they had intentionally hijacked and gamed, enough to be visibly disappointed when Paul, in Reality, didn’t do so well, is an indicator that although many are cunning, many are beyond gullible. I think Todd was one of the cunning ones.

  140. Curious how the original linked story makes no mention of “Palin pins.” FreeRepublic is not a news source. This is hearsay until verified by a police report.

  141. Hey, Ignatius, do you really want to open the gun control issue, with 75% of the population pro-gun? That didn’t work out too well for you in the Clinton era, did it, now?

By the way, I’ve noticed that a disproportionate number of Second Amendment activists are high tech geeks (and I mean that in a complimentary sense). Joe Huffman, for instance, works for Microsoft. Doesn’t work well for your theory, does it?

  142. This “bad craziness” will be posted at Little Green Footballs in 3…2…1…

  143. PreEmptive Strike. HA HA.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA

  144. JIM, an update may be necessary:

See post #141 (W. Keller), and Michelle Malkin’s site.

She says that Jindal’s press sec. Kyle Plotkin has stated that NO PALIN BUTTONS WERE WORN.

I would like to hear the story from the mouths of the couple with the broken bones.

  145. I’m sure it was those Ron Paul thugs who did the beating on Bautsch.

I went to SRLC, the Paul supporters were running around like cultists, getting in my face and everyone else’s face if you said you didn’t think he was presidential material. One Paulite threatened to kick my ass because I had the gall to say Paul wasn’t a good speaker, one of his friends held him back. Crazy Paulites!

  146. I visited NOLA with 4 other guys in summer of 1969 as a high school graduation trip. To this day its the only city I’ve been afraid of walking the streets no matter the time of day or where I was.

  147. Sent this to Drudge Report. If they post it, then it will get attention.

  148. Start packing heat people, when they start to attack you, shoot them. Self defense is a must with scum like this running around, don’t be a victim, defend yourselves.

  149. The Hayride, the source for the Free Republic article, has updated with further information. At the point at which I read the article (just before this post was made) the allegations of the attacks being related to the protest or to the wearing of Palin buttons is in doubt.

    http://thehayride.com/2010/04/the-brennans-beatdown-piecing-together-a-story/

  150. I can sense that Tea Party activists have a target on their heads. We were just given fair warning with this attack last Friday.

This is sad for me to say, but I’m going to have to predict that two or three among the Tea Party movement are going to be hurt, or even killed, or attempts made against their families or property, before this whole thing is over.

Heaven help us, but I can only see things becoming worse.

  151. I love the way the Left uses evolution as proof of their intelligence. They wouldn’t know how to splice genes if their life depended on it, they wouldn’t know ATP from LSD (despite their intimate acquaintance with the latter), and they wouldn’t have the slightest idea about what it means to complete the squares (in algebra). They don’t know the difference between a semiautomatic rifle and an automatic, yet because they have arbitrarily assigned their political opponents to the “creationist” category, that makes them expert enough to understand the gun issue.

Ignatius probably doesn’t even understand the theory of natural selection. If you asked him, he’d probably say that it says, “Survival of the fittest, so that means that Sarah Palin should have aborted her retarded child. Also, there is no God.”

  152. #150 “Contrary to TeaParty beliefs,…natural selection [is] based on intelligence.”

For sake of your offspring, blockhead, you’d better hope natural selection isn’t based on intelligence…because if it is, they don’t stand a chance!

  153. #150

I never thought to see a leftard promote Social Darwinism.

You DO know what that is, don’t you?

  154. I assume they were unarmed, which in New Orleans is madness. How many thugs were involved?

  155. OK, that’s it. I’m getting a gun, and I’m going to get a concealed carry permit. And I will shoot the liberal bastard that attempts an attack on me or mine. Screw ‘em. Enough is enough!

  156. Natural selection isn’t based on intelligence. It’s based on the ability to reproduce. Cockroaches have essentially zero intelligence, but are great at reproducing. Neanderthals were quite intelligent, but could not reproduce sufficiently to survive. Ditto for the whales, although they are not extinct yet.

Even when left-wing gun-fearing cowards try to wax intelligent, they show their stupidity.

  157. I was hesitant to say that Free Republic was not a reliable source because I used to cyberhang there for years. In fact, it was there that I predicted that a August 2001 alleged hate crime would be proven a hoax, and I was right.

But I eventually stopped checking FR every day when the most persistent voices there were buying into lifetime criminal and mental patient Larry Sinclair’s salacious and ridiculous smears against Obama. (I also didn’t like that there was favoritism when categorizing which forum cross-posted blog entries were posted, but that’s too esoteric for a short comment.) I’m probably not being fair to most of the participants, who aren’t conclusion-jumping conspiracy lunatics, but there are plenty of other places to gather and comment on events without having to wade through the ones who lack intellectual honesty.

That being said: Free Republic will always be the website that exposed Dan Rather’s attempt to de-elect George W. Bush with fake military documents, the biggest strike against leftist media bias in TV history. For that, I am forever grateful.

  158. None of you people would care if the 2 were beaten for wearing Obama pins. We would be hearing they deserved it blah blah due to health care reform, or whatever.

  159. With all due respect to several of the commentors on this blog, the hate level is significantly higher than needs to be. Yes the “thugs” that jumped this couple were absurd and yes, this might be politically motivated, but at this point we have no proof that the people that beat up this couple were part of the protestors.

A friend of mine was jumped by a group of three guys because they just wanted to beat someone up. They left his face bloodied and bruised and my friend was lucky to come out with no broken bones. (Thankfully, he wasn’t even in a rough part of town or I assume the beating would have been much worse.) The truth is, these thugs could have easily just been looking to beat up someone and found a stupid reason, “Look they’re two people, and they’re wearing Palin pins, why not?”

You may be right to assume that this was, in fact, politically motivated, but I have a hard time jumping from one person’s experience of verbal assault to a couple walking out of a very nice dinner (most probably fully dressed to the nines) just being randomly beaten to the point of a broken leg and jaw. It doesn’t fit. Street thugs fits the story much better and street thugs with some hate for anything not Obama fits almost perfectly. I don’t think they were part of the original protest group.

THAT RIGHT THERE!!!!!!…..is the best, honestly understandable definition of the 2nd Amendment I have ever heard. AND is exactly why our founding Fathers put it in. With what has been happeing if there isn’t a better reason to enact our 2nd amendment rights then i don’t know what is. We’ve enacted our 1st Amendment rights and look were that’s got us. Our founders were very smart men and could see this happening in the future….GOD BLESS America and our Fathers!! And BRING It ON LEFTIST Bozo’s who are stupid enough to TRY and harm me or my family….THIS LOGGER WILL SEND YOU TO THE HEARAFTER!!!

  161. When the Revolutiom starts I want Keith Olbermann all to myself.

The Anagrams for Keith Olbermann are:

    1 -A TINKLEN HOMBRE

    2 – ILK BORN METHANE

    3 – ENEMA BROTH KILN

  162. #171 L.N.S.

LOL! I don’t go there (Free Rep.) for the same reason that I don’t go to once-great (long, LONG back) Townhall dotcom: the site is unwieldy, ugly-as-hell, too busy-looking – aesthetically speaking, the site is a nightmare.

I have another rule, something which will keep me away forever, about blogs which allow comments: I will not even *read* a site where every single comment has a “title”. I cannot freakin’ STAND that. People, we’re not writing books, here. Our comments are not so significant that they need titles. Sites I can think of, offhand, which do this are DKos and RedState, but there are many more. Also, I usually stay away from sites with threaded comments, but lately have gotten used to those used by Breitbart’s Bigs, they’re not as hideous-looking as other sites. I prefer the style used here, just linear – gotta pay attention with this format. No gimmicks, no “comment titles”.

  163. There is NO mention of Palin pins in the story on NOLA.com (the Times-Picayune website). That is probably just someone trying to get people riled up, and it apparently worked. But seriously, I have never, in my life, read so much hate-filled, “frothing-at-the-mouth” rhetoric from a supposed “religious” website! I stand by every comment I made on this site, you folks are a bunch of scary nuts.

  164. Lysia K., #172

That is FLAT OUT WRONG, and you would know it if you read this site and comments for any extended period of time.

We don’t wish death or harm on ANYONE, and most of us call out any who do, vehemently and immediately. You’ve been listening to the wrong people – the voices, either on TV or in your head – if you think that we do.

There are so many things you just don’t understand about conservatives and especially this crowd, and that comment is evidence.

  165. You people are giving these thugs way too much credit for having a brain and having a political agenda. I agree with the poster who just said: “these thugs could have easily just been looking to beat up someone and found a stupid reason, “Look they’re two people, and they’re wearing Palin pins, why not?” Wrong, sad, but random. Happens in every big city, every day.

  166. Hayride has an update http://thehayride.com/2010/04/the-brennans-beatdown-piecing-together-a-story/ and is reporting an update that the couple DID NOT have Palin pins on. You may wish to review.

I wore my Vet’s for Palin pin on my cap everyday walking around district near the Hilton in NO during the SRLC event. I did have a media badge hanging around my neck. Even wore a Vets4 Palin.net T-shirt and since I was staying on the other side of the river at the Naval Air Station, I rode the ferry everyday without incident. Even received a few friendly comments wondering what I was doing in NO.

The number of protesters outside the SLRC was not 200. Started with 5 and later grew in number far less than 200. They had Free this and Free that on their signs. I asked them if they were Free Sex since it was not on any of their signs and they said yea and Free Weed too. A lot of people were there for the music and fun verses the actual March. Even the videogrophers had to work hard to make the crowd look bigger than it was.

  167. What if this unfortunate young woman and her boyfriend started the fight and got a beat-down for their efforts? The fact that this happened on Friday and just made the paper today makes me highly suspicious. Regardless, I hope the young couple recover quickly. I must point out that some of my best friends back in my hometown of Cape Girardeau, MO, are big Palin supporters and they have yet to threaten to shoot me.

  168. cznola, that’s because you haven’t been paying attention the last few months. Democrat supporters have gotten more violent…provably violent, and have nearly always been the instigators. Fingers bitten off, black men beaten (by DEMS!) and hospitalized and called racist names, firebombs and molotovs and bricks and rocks through plate-glass windows of GOP HQ’s in numerous states.

You think you see needless “frothing” but if you knew the stories, which you obviously don’t….you think this is an isolated incident, not indicative of a QUICKLY growing trend, therefore you don’t understand the growing anxiety. I understand. Also, you probably have had your thinking affected by the many people you routinely listen to and watch on the television and in pop culture, and you probably have heard repeated to you, Pavlov-style, for the last year, that these Tea Party folks, and Republicans, and conservatives are all just a buncha wacko paranoiac and, more importantly, PRONE TO VIOLENCE, nutjobs. They have offered you no proof of this, and at the same time, have shown you none of the ACTUAL violent acts that have swept this nation since Obama was elected, nor have they illustrated to you the fact that this is a growing trend.

I can see how you’d think the comments here are over-reactions. It is only because you are ignorant of quite a few things, and that you have been intentionally conditioned to believe a few other things that are not true.

  169. Last one in response to cnola’s #178.

  170. This is a very strange circumstance. Taking out the Palin pin issue, and even discounting media bias, two attendees to a political conference are savagely beaten and we have a complete news blackout on the national level. And one is the campaign finance director for the governor.

That seems quite newsworthy to me as is.

  171. Is it getting to the point where we need to have a website devoted SOLELY to the violent acts perpetrated by those on the left, with a daily and weekly rundown of all the provable incidents?

Sort of like religionofpeace dot com does with the violent acts perpetrated daily worldwide by members of the Umma against the rest of the world’s citizens?

I think we’re nearing that time. People who can’t see the big picture can’t see trends. If you can’t see trends, you can’t understand perspective at all.

Malkin occasionally updates us with a list, going back a couple of months, but even those are far from thorough surveys of all the recent incidents.

cznola, and many others poor info-starved souls, could really benefit from such a site.

  172. Just returned from Texas where I bought a little souvenir. A wooden map of the state with a gun attached. It says. We don’t dial 911.
    Hmmmmm….

  173. #186 Robert

Agreed. I posted a snark above when I heard that. No Palin pins? OH, MY BAD, it’s all good, everything’s cool then, carry on with the beatings.

  174. Nobody’s mentioned this, but DAMN. If I had a girlfriend that fine, I would learn five kinds of ninjisu before I took her to NOLA.

  175. thehayride.com is now reporting that the Palin pins were a red herring:
    http://thehayride.com/2010/04/the-brennans-beatdown-piecing-together-a-story/

I wonder if this photographer for the LA GOP
got any pictures of the behavior he describes.

  177. This is awful and the media SHOULD be reporting it. A hate crime is a hate crime, no matter who is doing the hating.

BTW, I am a proud Democrat and I am saying this. Two things, though.

    1. Guns are hardly ever the answer, and I wonder why we are so quick to refer to them.

    2. There were no unfounded rumors about the horrible things the Tea Party said. They did say it. There is evidence. There is tape. Let’s not degrade the other side in an attempt to bolster your own side’s arguments. Hate is hate, and it is ALL wrong. Let’s take a UNIFIED stand against all this sort of thing.

  178. Well, they wanted violence…

  179. Don’t be FOOLS!…This is NOT the work of “TREE HUGGERS”!!!….It’s a set-up!!….Evil forces that have their OWN agenda and want to “fear” you’ll into retaliating so THEY can achieve IT!! WAKE UP!!!

    April 13th, 2010 | 3:25 pm | #195

Wil you please post links to these tape’s and/or recordings of Tea Party members doing such a thing. Put your money were your mouth is.

  181. HFactor,
They want to scare us into retaliating?

Well, that settles it. Folks, just take your beatings. Let your girlfriends’ legs get broken. Allow your face to be shattered. They’re just trying to scare us into retaliating.

  182. 2. There were no unfounded rumors about the horrible things the Tea Party said. They did say it. There is evidence. There is tape.

That’s four lies, right there under point #2. You should have split it up, then you would have had more points!

  183. We only know two facts about this incident.

    1) Gov. Jindal’s spokesman reports Alle Bautsch and Joe Brown were not wearing Palin pins.

    2) The attack on Alle Bautsch and Joe Brown was a group assault and the damage done to the victims is _inconsistent_with_a_mugging_.

Brown had a concussion, fractured nose and jaw while Bautsch had a broken leg that required surgery (AKA it was a compound fracture).

Such assaults usually see the males hurt worse than the females.

She can’t, at not least at this moment….they’ve not finished doctoring the tape and/or recordings. But don’t you go a worrying your head about it, they will produce that tape and about 12 white (union thugs) guys who will say it did too happen to make it look good!

  185. My gosh, so many comments I cannot read them all and get my lawn cut! So, I will say this; for those who said people who think like us need to carry guns? Remember, laws in liberal lands prevent this and you’re worthless to the Conservative movement in jail and it’s an opportunity for the left to rage about ‘right wing gun nuts’. My take is different. What if we just stop frequenting liberal places? Don’t go to DC, don’t go to NYC, don’t go to Chicago and of course, do NOT go to SF. My wife of 6 months was single for a long time, she is 48, and her favorite place is New Orleans…I have told her that one, I would never go there, and two, the only way she CAN go with my approval is with her son, a 2nd Lt. in the US Army. He is the only one I trust because he would die for her, and he knows I would do the same if necessary. I discourage her going there at all, obviously, but she is a stubborn old lady :) (she and her son left the day before Katrina hit, thankfully). Conservatives are over half of this great country, just boycott liberal places! I refuse to go to the movies (much to my wife’s dismay) because of what actors (Sean douchebag Penn) and actresses (Hanoi Jane) say. Shut up and make movies…but alas, they cannot, they think they’re better than us. Please consider the boycott idea, nothing will hit the liberal cities or actors/actresses more than when their pocketbooks are hit. Revolution my friends! Regards, Paul in Ohio

  186. Let’s wait and see what Alle Bautsch and Joe Brown have to say.

We know more than that, still. We know that the woman was a fundraiser and active politically. We know that they had recently left a fundraising dinner.

We know that outside of this dinner, as the AP reported, there were more than 200 angry, shouting, self-proclaimed Anarchist protesters.

    http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2010/04/more_than_200_march_in_new_orl.html

We don’t know how long after the dinner this occured.
We don’t know what Brown and Bautstch have to say.
We don’t know how far from the dinner the attack occured.

  187. Ahh, the tolerant left strikes again.

  188. If this was a gay or liberal activist it would be no#1 on the “Breaking News”.

  189. Nevada Mike and Andreas K., reading you two makes all those years I spent trying to educate people about the Left seem like it might have been worth it after all.

    Keep up the good fight.

    Mahdi

  190. This is disgusting and it is a Federal Hate Crime. But don’t expect Holder to do anything here. He only enjoys killing babies. Remember WACO. As an ex intelligence officer who worked in areas of unrest the first thing that comes to mind is: The left may be asking for violence that will end in a racial conflict against people of the black race. If and when that takes place there may not be enough law enforcement to hold people back because many law enforcement officers will join the fight on the side of the good people. More than 90% of blacks voted for the impostor in the WH. Keep that in mind and never forget. I wish the best for the two innocent good people who were victimized and my prayers are with them.

  191. Daily Caller (trackbacks in #206,#207) doesn’t get it. Says, basically, “No Palin Pin, No Problem.” Sees nothing else about this beating that is newsworthy or even suspicious.

    Unreal.

  192. Tony Rodi
    “He only enjoys killing babies.”

WTF are we, the LEFT now? Come on! They did that crap with Cheney and Condi and Bush. Do you really think that Eric Holder “enjoys killing babies?”

Leave that mega-hyperbole to Leftists and Arabs.

  193. Tony, I sincerely hope you are wrong. A racial war would tear this country apart. How did we get to this point?!?!?!?!??!

  194. The two were NOT wearing Palin pins. Jindal says no jumping to conclusions.

  195. Fox News where are you?? Can we get a Fox News Alert at least?

  196. Lynn, that point has been brought up since 1:38 PM, at comment #141. We know. Jim did an update but did not include that.

Maybe that’s what we know now. Maybe the “Palin pins” in question, if they were catalysts for this violence, got ripped off their clothing by the thugs, and all we know is what they arrived at the hospital with. Maybe we should wait until we hear the testimony of the two in the hospital.

One man said “they weren’t wearing Palin pins.” How does he know? Wait and see.

As I said, we know that she was at a fundraising dinner, outside of which we know there were ~200 angry and shouting anarchists protesting this dinner, and we are reasonably sure that they were shouting obscenities at anyone who looked like they might be conservative.

(Jim, another commenter at NOLA dot com…where your update link leads to eventually, and what I posted at #204, backs up what Eric from LAGOP has told you.)

We DON’T KNOW that they weren’t wearing Palin pins. We KNOW that one man said this – based on what, we don’t know. We’ll see what the actual victims have to say…hopefully.

  197. In my opinion;
The pins are NOT the issue.
The specific politics of the participants
in the assault are NOT the issue.

    Issues:
    The severity of the assault.
That they were participants in a political conference.
That one was associated with the governor.
That the story is not receiving national coverage.

  198. From my NOLA dotcom link above.

This article makes the protest sound adorable. This protest was a unfocused rambling train wreck and made UNO look like hoodlums. Why would the article list some of the sign contents without mentioning that the profane ones that kids shouldn’t read? Why list the professionals and people with jobs without mentioning the knuckleheads who were screaming profanities at any tourist wearing a tie? I didn’t hear as much “Hey, hey! Ho, ho!” as “Why don’t you F*’ing kill yourself?”. I had to get on the internet to find out what they were so bent out of shape about.”

This sounds like the sort of mob which could contain leg-breakers and head-kickers.

  199. Robert, I would add to “issues” the relevent fact about this protest which took place outside their fundraising dinner.

The AP whitewashed this group, but others have said that the group was pretty vulgar and angry and mobbish… others who aren’t “Ordained Journalists” and therefore should have as much if not more credibility than the AP, as I see it, and will continue to see it until the AP regains any credibility on these matters.

  200. In self-defense of your life and limb, guns certainly are the answer. Especially when you are in the weaker position. (Man or woman against a group of thugs.)

Brave and honorable people are protecting us with guns every day whether you acknowledge them or not. They put THEIR lives on the line for all of us and that allows some people to pretend that “guns are hardly ever the answer.” They don’t have to make and LIVE WITH those gut-wrenching split-second decisions that are the difference between life, death, or sometimes worse…being maimed for life.

What is hateful about wanting to defend yourself or others from attack? Should we be limited to using the same type of force used against us? If you are ever physically attacked, would you wish you had a gun and use it if necessary? Or is that wrong?

Obama, healer of the planet, says:

    “Get in their faces.”
    and
    “Hit back twice as hard.”
    and
““If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

  201. Looks like they weren’t wearing pins after all. It might be time for the posters to tone down the crazy rhetoric a little bit.

The WACO murder took place under the Clinton administration. Jannet Reno and her assistant Eric Holder were responsible for their murder. At least the lesbian had the decency to die, hopefull in the words of Shaun Penn “Eric will die of painful rectal cancer too”. Eric Holder is a black racist.

  204. “Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s office told me emphatically Tuesday afternoon that Bautsch, whose leg was “badly broken” in the beating, was not wearing a Palin pin, and neither was her boyfriend, who suffered a concussion, as well as a fractured nose and jaw.”

Ryan, is THAT then a fact? Writer of the article contacts Jindal’s office and some spokesman says “Nope, they weren’t wearing Palin pins,” and that settles it for ya?

Another writer has stated that they visited Bautsch in the hospital and that she said they were wearing pins, and that their attackers referenced their pins before attacking and as a reason to attack.

But the one guy says “no pin” and NOW all the True Facts of the Story are in.

Okey doke. I’ll wait to hear from PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE WHEN THE BEATING TOOK PLACE, rather than a writer who heard from a guy who works in the office of the guy for whom the victim worked.

It is possible that any offending Palin pins, if they were the reason for the attack, got RIPPED OFF by the mob. Probable, even.

  205. Taq #221

The protest may or may not have been a factor in the assault. If the assailants followed them from the restaraunt/protest, then certainly it would be a factor. We don’t know that and perhaps we never will.

Meanwhile, there is a fly in the ointment.
    And its a big one.

  206. ATTN JIM HOFT!

Comment #225 is in need of deletion, I’m guessing.

I’ll go now. I don’t wanna be the friggin hall-monitor, pointing out miscreants and racists and mobys. Been on here too long today already.

Good grief but someone needs to do it.

  207. @Taqiyyotomist #226
It’s definitely not a fact, and unfortunately facts are in very short supply regarding this story. I can’t see getting upset whether you lean left or right until we really find out what prompted the attack (if anything, it could have been prompted by jealousy of the fact that this couple is well to do for that matter).
It just seems like the left and right are both ready to be stirred up and angry about which way the wind blows these days.
IMHO there are a lot more important things to be angry over right now, like Capitol Gains taxes or social security…..

  208. It’s too far gone for me… There is no turning back… I officially hate leftists. All leftists. If you have even tacit support for the current administration, the democrat party, or even the slightest left wing economic policies, I hate you. Not just dislike. I’m not just being hyperbolic. I hate them. It’s a burning, venemous, dripping hatred. If they were to all die slow and painful deaths, I would laugh. Nothing of value would be lost. Every problem in this nation and this world that isn’t caused by Islamic fundamentalists is caused by leftists. They need to be dealt with.

  209. Palin pin or not, it is obvious from the pictures themselves and those who took them that the Anarchists found out about the GOP fundraiser and meant to stir trouble. Two people got beaten the living &#!% out of as a result.

I guess a Republican is a living, walking crime, to way too many Leftists. A Republican is a criminal in this day and age – no matter what he/she might have done or not. No “hate crime” laws apply here, nor would it do any favors.

  210. Thanks for the Christlike thoughts, Frank. Very uplifting. You’ll fit in here at FirstThings.

    (attention: that was sarcasm.)

    Okay, I’m going now. Really.

  211. …and at least you recognize the truth that this hatred is venomous. Snakes have venom. Serpents. Don’t give in to the dark side, Frank.

New Orleans police are asking for assistance finding suspects who participated in a French Quarter fight on Friday that led to the injury of a campaign aide to Gov. Bobby Jindal, as well as her boyfriend.

The news release issued by New Orleans police Tuesday evening does not identify Allee Baustch or her boyfriend, but notes that the 25-year-old female victim and the 28-year-old male victim were attacked in the 600 block of St. Louis Street after leaving an event at a restaurant in the 400 block of Royal Street.

Jindal’s office acknowledged on Monday that Bautsch, his chief campaign fundraiser, was recovering from a broken leg after an altercation with a group of people in the Quarter on Friday night. Bautsch was attacked after a fundraiser for the Louisiana Republican Party at Brennan’s Restaurant, 417 Royal Street, the governor’s office said.

The 600 block of St. Louis Street, where the Napoleon House Bar is located, is a couple of blocks from Brennan’s.

New Orleans police say that the incident began about 11:45 p.m. when a group of three to five men made “derogatory comments” to Bautsch and her boyfriend. When the man described as the male victim “turned toward” the group of men, at least one of the men struck him repeatedly. The woman “fell to the ground and screamed,” the news release said.

Police released a description of one suspect, saying he was in his 20s, looked “dirty,” and wore his hair in an auburn-colored ponytail. The man was 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a thin build, police said. He wore a light-colored T-shirt and dark pants.

Officers in the area responded and requested EMS assistance. The woman used her purse as a pillow while waiting for help. Once she was in the ambulance, the woman realized her purse was missing, the release said.

Kyle Plotkin, a Jindal spokesman, said Bautsch had surgery during the weekend and is facing a recovery time of two to three months. According to the NOPD news release, Bautsch’s friend was treated at the hospital for a mild concussion, broken jaw and broken nose.

“NOPD is investigating the incident and we are refraining from further comment to allow them to fully investigate and ensure justice is done,” Plotkin said Monday. “Our prayers are with Allee. She is a strong person and we are sure she will make a speedy recovery.”

Police have not yet determined whether any surveillance cameras recorded the incident. While The Times-Picayune has requested a copy of the initial NOPD incident report, the news release stated that the report is not yet available.

Eighth District Sgt. Nicholas Gernon is in charge of the investigation. People with information are asked to call Crimestoppers at 822.1111 or 1.877.903.7867. “

  213. while doing troop support rallies with the Gathering of Eagles, i have seen the hatred and the violence of the lefties for a number of years now.

i have been called any number of hateful names, i have been verbally threatened, i have had my flag grabbed out of my hand, and i have been shoved around.

my heart goes out to these two people who were so seriously injured.

i DESPISE the leftists – they have been empowered by their leadership to strike out against us.

we have no other choice than to STRIKE BACK

  214. The protestors outside the SLRC had every right to be there protesting. That right is as guaranteed in the First Amendment for them as it was for those protesting HCR in Washington last month, and they are just as patriotic as you or I, so blaming *all* of them and every left-leaning citizen of this country for this is disingenuous when the reports clearly state it was a *few* people.

It’s terribly sad that a handful of thugs and irresponsible journalism on BOTH sides of the political spectrum have brought us to this sad state where civil discourse over the issues seems to no longer be possible, and it’s business as usual to attack the opinion-holder rather than the opinion.

Ms. Bautch and Mr. Brown have my prayers for a quick recovery and my sympathy that this happened at all in the first place.

  215. This is what Palin is and does, fear mongering, attacks and preaching devisive hate.

Well, she has achieved her aim.

  216. Palin needs to be put to pasture.

Every time she speaks, a Republican leaves the party.

    Signed,

    A former Republican
( I leet bec of this hatefilled ignorant women)

  217. “The protestors outside the SLRC had every right to be there protesting. ”

Nice strawmen, Feist. Can you point to the post or comment which says they didn’t have the right to be there? Nope. Can you point to the post or comment which says that *all* the protesters outside the dinner were to blame for this attack?

As they say at Flopping Aces in moments like these: Thanks for playing, though!

  218. So did the animals who attacked the couple hurt their fists, limbs, face, or feet in the attack or were the only ones hurt, the two with the broken limb, concussion, etc.?

  219. SHAME on You UNO Students and Faculty!
    SHAME ON YOU!

You should all be dismissed from UNO.
I am embarrassed to say I attended UNO beacuse of this disrespectful, vulgar ‘F’ bombs and signs, and mugging which resulted in a broken leg, cheek, nose, etc……., causing severe injury. You are responsible for this!

When I return to school to persue my Fine Arts, Teaching, English degree, I assure you it will NOT be UNO, Thanks to YOU.
    I STILL have other choices.

    SHAME ON YOU UNO!

  220. Hilarious watching all of you try to spin this into some hapless Republican being “attacked” out of the blue.

I can GUARANTEE you that Bautsch’s boyfriend got into a childish verbal pissing contest with some of the protesters and things escalated from there.

That does not change the fact that Bautsch was seriously injured or justify ANY violence.

But let’s not pretend that Republicans are being “attacked” simply for being Republican. This was a political bar fight among a bunch of young adults. The incident could have just as easily transpired in an altercation between Colts fans / Saints fans.

Simply walking away or saying “have a nice evening” and the entire episode would not have occurred.

The “problem” here is people allowing themselves to become rabid partisans…people getting childishly all worked up over this Left vs. Right bs just as many of you do in your posts above.

Meanwhile, MSNBC, Fox News, Beck, Hannity, Rush, and Olberman laugh all the way to the bank thanks to you suckers lapping it up.

  221. Taq – Comments #231 states the protestors were there to make trouble and #47 warns to watch for ‘them’ to be at other events (for the purposes of causing ‘trouble’). Those words suggest a belief that they had no business being there.

And I didn’t say “all the protestors the outside the diner” were being blamed; I said “blaming *all* of them and every left-leaning citizen of this country”. The comments on this blog are replete with the demonization of anyone whose views differ from the person posting the comment, calls for civil war and hints of the ass-kicking to come. I leave it to you and your own Straw Man to figure out how you missed all that, Taq.

  222. Feist #239

they are just as patriotic as you or I,

When you are supporting the side that is actively hastening the downfall of our traditions and institutions, you are not patriotic.

The Democrat party is NOT patriotic. They may be patriotic for some vision of America that does not exist, but by definition they cannot be patriotic for America as they attempt to turn it upside down.

They will institute an overbearing nanny-socialist state if they are able, one that will fail, because no state can possibly pay for all the wondrous things they want to do for every citizen that will not do for themselves.

What they are doing is NOT American and it is NOT patriotic.

  223. That’s your opinion, Robert. It’s not a fact.

  224. I hate the democrats. Growing up I thought they stood for peace, love, diversity… Now I find them worse than the republicans. Peace, only if you agree with them, diversity, only if you agree with them. where is the love? At least the republicans didn’t let me down. They’ve mellowed with age while the democrats are sheep in wolfs cloths.

  225. wolf in sheeps cloths… grrr

  226. The things the Democrats are doing are NOT enumerated in the Constitution as being the responsibility of the federal government.

The federal government has NO business providing health care.

The federal government has NO business providing educations.

The federal government has NO business providing home loans or housing.

These actions are against the intent of the Constitution to say nothing of tradition.

The fact that these things had not been done by the federal government for almost two centuries, the fact that these institutions were not formed at the founding of our government, IS the precedent which proves my point.

Iggy, you keep coming up with all these absurd statements about gun owners (which I’m sure you consider to be just the wittiest of insults) — yet you offer not a shred of proof or even a statistic (perhaps with a link to something besides the brady bunch).

You wouldn’t be making those up out of whole cloth, would you? You know — lying your leftist, cowardly ass off to try to toss out a couple of zingers.
Because, you see, I think you’re lying. But don’t take that as an insult. After all, it’s what you leftists do.
In fact, it’s been proven that a “liberal” (which you leftists most certainly are not) would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth
Not only is lying what you leftists do – it’s what you *are*. You’re simply unable to tell the truth – on any subject. It’s the way you assclowns are wired, cupcake.
Rather like you’re cowards unless you’re in a mob.

It’s good that you don’t like guns. That may keep you out of more trouble than you and your mob can handle.

  228. Whoa, whoa. No newspaper or police report connects the beating to the protest. None.

The story about a “Palin pin” planted by some right wing blogger may feed the whiny victim mentality of right wingers but there is one problem; it is false. And here is how STUPID that story is. The Republican operative works for JINDAL! He is a possible 2010 candidate and his chief fundraiser would NOT have a Palin pin on. Another stupid right wing lie that stupid people believe.

But there are some facts on political violence: it is committed by right wing nuts and urged on by bloggers like Glenn Beck and Palin: murdering a doctor, murdering a guard at the Holocaust museum, murdering a Vietnam vet at an IRS office, murdering 300 people in Oklahoma.

So, you’re saying that we’d react like you leftists?
    I don’t think so.

But feel free to whine and snivel. Self-pity doesn’t cost anything.

  230. Robert,

Again – you’re stating an opinion. Other opinions are that the constitution compels us to provide these things because all Americans should have the same opportunity. By the way, the gov’t isn’t providing health care; they’re providing ACCESS to health care. Big difference.

Patriotism isn’t decided by an allegiance to a political party, and people shouldn’t have their love for their country called into question when they have a differing opinion.

  231. “But there are some facts on political violence: it is committed by right wing nuts and urged on by bloggers like Glenn Beck and Palin: murdering a doctor, murdering a guard at the Holocaust museum, murdering a Vietnam vet at an IRS office, murdering 300 people in Oklahoma.”

And what the heck do you want to see done to us? Do you want to see us paraded to some “re-education camp”?

“Whoa. Whoa.” ~~ and then you attack Conservatives and accuse us of *ALL* the violence?

How about the LEFTIST who shot up the Holocaust Memorial? Or the LEFTIST who flew his plane into the IRS? Or the LEFTIST who shot up the Pentagon guards?

Not to mention, of course, your leftist brother in arms – nidal hassan; or the other little muslim who attacked the recruiting station and killed one soldier.

All thanks to the LEFTIST political correctness and even encouragement that tells those “people” that it’s all right to attack the Right (even the perceived Right) in America.

Hey, I can see Palin Derangement Syndrome from my house!

You’ll see it too if you come to Boston Common tomorrow morning when Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Express roll into town. I’ll be broadcasting my radio show live during the event and I’ve been asked to be part of the program as well. But what I’m really looking forward to is seeing the gathering of hate-spewing, anger-crazed lunatics.

had to skip over two hundred reply’s to answer, sorry. Had to work.
son is now almost 20 and in a military school (his choice and with a full scholorship) he is the hope of America. Voting this November and Barry has no freind. Growing up son had the question ” Why do people born here hate America?” Good question huh. Because they are taught to hate America and taught incorrect history. He now knows more intricate details about history than I and that makes me proud.
he either will be a contributing member of society in the engineering field (profession). His dream is to be a lineman in the NFL, possible as he is 6’5″ and very quick. the other posibility is he may have a crack at politics as he is a straight edge kind of guy. There is hope for America. some kids make it out with a stellar education. powder is dry.

  237. Seems like Little Green Foosballs and Kos Kids are hitting Gateway Pundit. There must be a chicken plucking trailer park party somewhere close.

Liberalism is a disease, and progressivism is a psychosis. Pour in the KKK from the democratic party and you have little hyperHITLER sociopaths.

  240. I’m bringing my mace with me to the tea party TH; may have the gun in the car. Not kidding. These a**holes will stop at nothing. Was going to bring my children so that they could see how our Republic can work (they’ve been to tea parties before), but I won’t endanger them now. Just try and come for me; I’m ready.

  241. The NOLA report in #234 makes this attack a targeted beating.

The pattern of “Thrill seeking” beating sees the male victim getting his head bashed while pushing the female aside.

That didn’t happen here. Allee Bautsch suffered a compound leg fracture requiring surgery.

That means who ever did this took out Brown and then either used a blunt instrument or stood over and stomped/kicked Ms. Bautsch with heavy boots until her leg bones were broken in multiple places and were ripping her flesh.

Given the state of NO law enforcement, Republican Governors attending needs to ask their money bags to post a six or seven figure reward leading to the arrest and prosecution of the thugs responsible.

This will get them an informer who will turn in the all the responsible parties for the reward money.

  242. Feist #256

Other opinions are that the constitution compels us to provide these things because all Americans should have the same opportunity.

The Constitution is designed as a curb on the power of the federal government. Once you interpret it as COMPELLING certain actions you have perverted the original intent.

The actions you seem to support are dependent on the actions of others, or more to the point, COMPELLING others to perform certain actions.

A fundamental right such as the freedom of speech or to bear arms does not infringe on the liberty of others. To provide health care (and your semantical point is irrelevant since payment must be extracted from society) or education (also) requires others to pay for those who cannot.

All Americans already DO have the same opportunity. This is evidenced by the numbers of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life, all races and creeds, who have achieved success.

What you are advocating is a raising of the lowest standard from which that can be done. This can only be constitutionally justified by peering into various legal “penumbra” that activist judges have cited for over a century now. A decent intent, but not authorized for the federal government by the Constitution.

    Way to go New Orleans.

The nation was disgusted with you over Katrina and now you have to add this to your reputation.

Where’s the famous NOW? Off busy selling their souls again for some other Leftie agenda item? They’ve been AWOL on every single female issue for the past twenty years, except for making sure more females are aborted.

  249. Wouldn’t be surprised if the muggers were from out of town – and if one is free to hang out at major political meetings to protest, then who does one work for?

  250. “but seriously… the dude isn’t and never was a Republican… Republicans don’t go around declaring their party like this… It’s just about the lamest lefty Palin attack I’ve seen yet…yawn…”

    It’s a Moby.

Next you’ll see “fellow conservative” or “true conservative” or “Concerned Christian” all spouting talking points about Republicans or Palin or someone else targeted by the progressives. All in the hope that people who actually are Republican, or conservative or Christian will blindly believe their claims simply because the one making the claim says they’re on the same side.

  251. Two things-

One, As I said before, the left is not impressed with the peaceful protests and letter writing the Tea Party is doing. The left is a far more basic, crude, violent assortment of thugs. Something all tyrants need in order to function.

Two- if boyfriend had been carrying. The police would have been able to locate the two dirty men. They would have been the ones lying on the ground bleeding to death from multiple gunshot wounds.

Twenty years in law enforcement taught me never to go unarmed, especially in an iffy situation and escorting a woman.

Never depend on the good will of the other guy, he may not possess any.

In my book, the rogue President has assembled a group of very violent civilians to do his bidding on the streets. That has to exist to keep the population under control through fear of reprisals. All dictators have something like this in their bag of tricks.

  253. I am very disappointed at how the wimpy republican establishment is trying to cover up Leftist violance. Even as the story breaks people at the top of the party like Bobby Jindal want to put it back in the bottle saying no proof yet of a political motivation. No proof of any Palin pins. The “can’t we all be nice and get along” crowd of the Bush years wants us all to take a beating by not properly discloding the dangers we face. Truth of the matter is the white liberal establishment is foamenting racial violance by smearing political opposition every day by screaming RAAAAAAACISM. The white liberal media/political elites are too cowardly to bring out their own hatred face to face with acts of violance . They are hoping to get the blacks on the street angry enough at Obama’s white political opposition they will do the violance the white liberal fascists thirsts for. Even more cowardly are the republican elites who are enabling this violance to grow by covering it over with a tarp of denials. How many people have to die . Just how low do things have to go for the republican party to realize there is no getting along with this pervasive EVIL that fascism has brought to our government.

  254. So, now that this lie has been countermanded by Jindahl’s office, will Gateway Pundit apologize? Nah, not at all. What’s a wingnut without a good lie?

  255. If you have never had to deal with Anarchists or lefties, you do not know the violence that they can perpetrate. I was in Seattle during WTO riots. I know someone who worked in the building next to where the meeting was being held. That person along with others for their office left out an opposing door to the Convention Center. Some of these idiot Anarchists, lefties saw them and started chasing them down the street to attack them. The police intervened so nothing happened.

For the rest of the time, this person was met by the police several blocks from the office and escorted to work because that person was in management and had to be at work. Non-essential personnel had the week off. This person was told to leave the work clothes at home and look for the worse pair of jeans that could be found to wear to work.

Anarchists, lefties are dangerous people. They are not necessarily Democrats . . . but when you have a President who tells his followers “If they bring a knife, you bring a gun”, violence is going to happen.

B.O. and the rest of his minions are reaping what they sowed. What we need is a true statesman to step in and bring some rationality to our country. Right now, the lunatics are running the asylum. I have never been more frightened, and I don’t like it.

I won’t be carrying a gun. I have had my life threatened, I have walked through strike lines and dealt with the WTO riots. Looked all of them straight in the eyes, did not open my mouth and just kept moving.

Remember, lefties want you to react. Keep as calm as possible when faced with these anarchists. Do the most damage you can do to them . . . in the ballot box. Vote them out of office. Then their followers will crawl back under their rock.

  256. There would be a few dead degenerates had i been there…

  257. I have three words that every Republican should know and live by in the Age of Obama
    “Concealed Carry Permit”

  258. Robert, the “things the Democrats are doing” don’t have to be enumerated in the Constitution; most of the laws in this land aren’t. The acid test is whether a law violates the constitution.

Not all traditions are good. Traditionally, women were no more than the property of their fathers or husbands and were denied many of the rights guaranteed to men simply on the basis of their gender; this country had a long tradition of slavery before it was abolished.

Our founders knew that their final document was not perfect and were smart enough to allow the ability for future generations to add to it. Thank God for that or there’d be no Bill of Rights, no Second Amendment that keeps coming up in these comments. Stating that something shouldn’t be there now if it wasn’t there from the beginning isn’t an argument that holds any weight.

I’d personally prefer that the law of the land doesn’t continue to help the richest get richer at the expense of a shrinking middle class and an expanding lower class. None of these “things the democrats are doing” are going to raise my taxes or yours (unless you make obscene amounts of money.) I prefer that the taxes I do pay go to help working US citizens get a fair shake – to have a chance to live a healthy life, to get the education they need so that the US can compete in a global economy – than to have it fund some of things we’ve paid for in the last decade. If you don’t agree – that’s fine. There *is* more than one way to be a patriot; I don’t question your patriotism – you seem very passionate about our country – I don’t deserve to have mine questioned because my views are different.

Regarding the original article: this doesn’t seem to be shaking out as a legitimate story — that this attack was politically motivated — (and I believe that Fox News would be all over it if there were a scintilla of truth to it). I hope that the men responsible for this are brought to justice, and if this attack WAS politically motivated I sincerely hope they are charged in Federal court and pay the severest penalty possible for civil rights violations as well.

  259. Feist

None of these “things the democrats are doing” are going to raise my taxes or yours (unless you make obscene amounts of money.)
    —–

I guess you haven’t been reading about the 8-K filings corporations are making regarding the multi-million dollar tax write-offs they are taking now due to the passing of ObieCare. Those tax losses will not be eaten by corporations, but will be passed on to you and me. That is a tax increase, whether directly taken from you or not.

Corporations are not cash cows, unless you think all corporations should go out of business and the only employers be the various levels of government. And just what does government produce? Paperwork, headaches and ulcers. But now with ObieCare, I guess that’s all to the good as well since government is giving us the illness and the ‘cure’.

AND the attack took place close to 11pm, a couple blocks away from Brennan’s, after the protest had broken up.

But, I know you’re all SOOOO sure it just HAD to be liberals who did this, Never mind that the Palin pin line turns out to be bull and Jindal’s office has also stated there is NO evidence this was politically motivated.

But that gets in the way of your manufactured outrage. The truth is do inconvenient sometimes. Still waiting for you people to stop propagating this lie, but I guess it’ll be a long wait. It’s so much easier to rally your sheeple with lies than it is with truths…

  267. Pat the First’s theory on handling violent people works…until it doesn’t.

Do not let your sense of good will overcome your common sense. If you carry it does not mean you are obligated to use it. All that means is when you have to use it, you can. All the staring in the eye of a bad guy won’t work if HE decides it’s time to hurt you.

As far as WTO. I like the system Pittsburgh police used. They are some serious hardcore cops, just like Philly and warned the WTO professional protesters that breaking windows and throwing rocks at cops was a bad idea in THEIR city. Unlike P.C. Seattle and other places the police in cities like Philly and Pittsburgh will beat you silly for looking at them wrong. I was about to retire when the protests hit the G20. I remember watching the videos and hearing the stories. What happened outside view of the cameras was even more fun.

My theory is this, you want to protest, have at it. Break one window, throw one rock and you are taking your life and health in your hands. Especially in Penn.

Most cops don’t mind the O.T. watching peaceful protesters like the Tea Party. They probably agree with them. But a smelly, ratty professional anarchist like at the WTO? That makes the cops cranky and ill tempered.

“For the record, the photograph taken by Eric Miller shows none of the profanity he describes.”

Funny, but I noticed that too… Which is odd, I mean he talked plenty about it, said there were several signs with profanity, but somehow his photo seems unable to capture any of them on camera. That’s too bad, especially since he’s the STATE GOP PHOTOGRAPHER.

The alleged perpetrators are nothing more than cowardly scum whose only just reward is to be shot in the street and left for the dogs to eat. NUFF SAID

  270. RickZ said “I guess you haven’t been reading about the 8-K filings corporations are making regarding the multi-million dollar tax write-offs they are taking now due to the passing of ObieCare.”

Yes, I have been reading about it. Have you? Which is it – a tax write-off or a tax loss? It’s actually a charge-off, and it’s based on their loss of a gov’t subsidy of the health insurance packages they offer to their employees (gasp! Noooo! what are they, layabouts who can’t make their own way in the world and want a hand-out?!) If those companies want to pass on these ‘losses’ to the consumer, they can certainly do that; and in a free market, the consumer can choose a vendor who doesn’t. That is, unless Obama passes that martial law you mentioned earlier and forces us to buy Goodrich Tires (who filed an 8-k) instead of Goodyear (who didn’t.)

It’s interesting to note that General Electric didn’t file an 8-k because they’d already shifted the benefits affected by HCR to a plan that allowed them to continue offering prescription benefits to their retirees without taking the federal subsidy. Good for them for not living off the government teat.

RickZ went on to say: “Corporations are not cash cows, unless you think all corporations should go out of business and the only employers be the various levels of government. ”

Hell no, I don’t think that. I’m a capitalist, albeit one that doesn’t subscribe to corporate welfare — if they can’t make it in the market without it, they can fail and another company will come along that can.

Catches the Wind: Maybe you should read what Michelle Malkin has to say about all this:
    http://michellemalkin.com/2010/04/13/a-cautionary-note-about-the-beating-in-new-orleans/

You could also read what The Daily Caller is reporting: http://dailycaller.com/2010/04/13/female-gop-fundraiser-beaten-in-new-orleans-was-not-wearing-a-palin-pin/

Quote from that last link: “The reason no one is picking up the story, however, is because the most provocative parts of it are not true.”

Repeat: the most provocative parts of this story are NOT TRUE.

  271. Her purse was missing? Did EM people or the police take it???She had it as a pillow until she got in the ambulance??? Whats up with that?

  272. Calm down a sec!
If this is proven true then we can demand justice. If some go off the deep and and start shooting then guess what?

Your giving the Terrorists in the demo/socialists ranks, ammunition to take our guns away.

God has had it and this is 2010. The 10 plagues of Egypt are coming to Washington.

The USS in The USA government are planning with the Russians and a certain mideast Islamic country are planning to destroy Israel.
He, God is fed up with the anti-Christs in America. P.S. Russia will back out.

  273. Are all members of the TeaParty apologists for Timothy James McVeigh or is it just the majority of the commentators here?

Tea Party = Confederacy of Dunces

  274. Ignatz = Douchenozzle

    Yes He Is!

    You Go Girl!

  275. “When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him.” Jonathan Swift

  276. Yep, pure genius.

“It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There’s a lot of — I don’t know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing.” –confusing German for “Austrian,” a language which does not exist, Strasbourg, France, April 6, 2009

    Barack Hussein Obama

    More genius.

“I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.” —at a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon, May 9, 2008

    Barack Hussen Obama

    True genius.

“It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” –speaking at a San Francisco fundraiser about his troubles winning over some small-town, working-class voters, April 11, 2008

    Barack Hussein Obama

  277. I read this statement “For those here, or on any blog, that are spouting violence against violence, that is not a conservative principle”.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE difference here. This is not spouting “violence against violence” What these folks are saying is protection against violence! If we do not stand up for ourselves no one else will and we will be intimidated out of existence. Weakness is not the answer the bully will only bully those who will not react SO LET’S GET OUT THERE AND REACT!!!! And don’t be timid!!

  278. Unfortunately, David, the bullies in this case appear to be random thugs, not the politically-motivated leftists/anarchists/Democrats that it seems most people here want it to be.

I conceal and carry and I have a degree in engineering. That aside, the FBI statistics invalidate your adhomenum attack. less than 1% of CHL carriers nation wide have been convicted of a crime with a firearm. Your really so ignorant and up someones ass that you cannot see the truth. come to the Atlanta party. I’ll be civil, can you???? Naw your just another socalist wanting what is in my pants. My wallet. I earned it you can go pound sand.
I’m the petete 6′ 5″ 280 lb white male that is your superior in too many ways. Most of all intellect. Not because I am white but because I am educated and inquisitive. Come on down and lets discuss your ideals. You’ll find yourself so outclassed. Rope smoking reprobate radical. your not worth my time. powder is dry.

  280. “The best revolutionary is a youth devoid of morals.” –V. Lenin

  281. I noticed that many of the signs people were carrying in the video contain the word “F**k”. Is this the limit of the liberals mentality that they cannot communicate a point without resorting to such depreciative language?

  282. Does anyone else find it interesting that attacks like this and high crime rates are prevalent in areas of the Country with Democrat Leadership in Government? NOLA has been a liberal Democrat bastion forever, and it also has the highest crime rate in LA. I live in Kentucky, near but not in Louisville, and the highest crime rates are in the west end of Louisville, an area governed by a left wing Mayor and represented in Congress by a left wing Democrat. Just a thought.

“The world is governed by the agressive use of force” Rush Limbaugh. Eat excrement and die.
Socialist like you will never take America. We are willing to die for our country, are you?
first rule is “make the other son of a bitch die for his country” Patton. powder is dry, beyatch.

  284. From his facebook page, condemning is it not.
For a masters degree he is severely underpaid 30k and just plain ignorant. Hell I more than double his pay with a four year degree. I love what I do. Your “friends” look like typical libs as well. Your a non threat, just a book worm with no testicles. Go back and play with your chemistry set. leave real world governance to those who are your betters. The American public, with or without an education.

    About me:
You were no doubt drawn here by the magnetism of my being. What I want is a good, strong monarchy with a tasteful and decent king who has some knowledge of theology and geometry and to cultivate a Rich Inner Life.
As a medievalist, I believe in the rota Fortunae, or wheel of fortune, a central concept in De Consolatione Philosophiae, the philosophical work which lays the foundation for medieval thought.

Optimism nauseates me. it is perverse. Since man’s fall, his proper position in the universe has been one of misery.

  285. Ha! Cznola, I hardly think you’re fit to be pontificating about hypocrisy! The entire Left is comprised of hypocritical thugs that slander or phyisically attack any one who disagrees with them. You’re scum. Pur, unmitigated scum. And more and more people are realizing it. And yes, if attacked, WE WILL DEFEND OURSELVES. With deadly force, if need be. You have no one to blame but your camp of idiots. Your tropes and empty rhetoric are tired, and becoming more and more apparent for what they are by the day.

    Sad, really.

  286. And the media is worried about tea parties? Who were those morons beating up people?

  287. The political motive of the vicious attack on Allee Bautsch, confirmed:

Breaking: Exclusive New Orleans Beat-Down Update Via My Interview With The NOPD – “It Was Of A Political Nature” http://bit.ly/d4pm5J

  288. Where is the proof that these were not common thugs looking to rob two fairly well-off looking folks? You’re just hoping it’s politically-motivated so you can have something to shoot off your mouths on but why isn’t the crime rate after Katrina not enough of a cause for concern. This happens to residents far more than you would actually care to know.
Stop looking for a story until you know the facts. Or is that not in the powerpoint play book?

  289. This is bull.
In the 90′s during the first Gulf War I went to a protest and was attacked by a sign grabbed by a veteran counter protester meant to attack the vet next to me protesting the war. I never even got the chance to file charges of assault for the cut dangerously close to my eye, I never saw this as “the start of the revolution,” and I sure as hell didn’t go out and buy a gun to defend myself against violence-prone pro-war idiots.
This is debate, this is the stuff of what our original Revolution was about, not knee-jerk pansy-ass gun pulling! Really, what has this nation come to when the opposition can’t argue with words and need to wave firearms to make their point??

  290. this is nothing new every since Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican President (1861-1865) we have had to fight the democrats and the kkk and still are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_United_States_Republican_Party thousands died on both sides a country that dosent learn from history is domed to repeat it.sad but true help us god

  291. Why do thugs feel free to do this sort of thing in Louisiana? How do they know they can get away with it without getting their brains blown out?

Because Louisiana’s “carry” law is like NRA’s idiotic Virginia Carry law, complete with a restaurant carry ban. The victims could not legally have defended themselves even if they’d had carry permits:

“A permittee may not carry a concealed handgun into:

    • any portion of an airport facility where the carrying of
firearms is prohibited under federal law (SUCH LAWS MADE POSSIBLE THE EL AL MASSACRE AND 9/11)

    • any church or similar place of worship (SUCH LAWS HAVE MADE POSSIBLE NUMEROUS MASSACRES IN CHURCHES)

    • any portion of a permitted area where alcoholic beverages
are sold for on-premises consumption (SUCH LAWS MADE POSSIBLE LUBY’S AND OTHER MASSACRES)

    • any school “firearm-free-zone”, or in any facility, building,
location, zone or area in which firearms are banned by state
or federal law (SUCH LAWS MADE POSSIBLE COLUMBINE, VIRGINIA TECH & OTHER MASSACRES)

    • a courthouse or courtroom, meeting place of the governing
authority of a political subdivision, the state capitol building
or a polling place (COMING ATTRACTION)

    • a parade or demonstration for which a permit is issued” (COMING ATTRACTION)

Has Governor Jindal done anything to reverse this violation of common sense and the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms? If not, then he’s partly responsible for the environment that led to the beating.

  292. Too bad that most of this story is not true. The actual police report has been published and the attackers called her a b***h and him a fa***t. No one mentioned Palin or any other rethuglican. We’re waiting for you to publish the correction.

  293. When authoritarian government coddles big business, we have fascism, as in China, Cuba and now increasingly by the united States. The intolerance for dissent is no different from communism. Learn to live with the Obamoids.

  294. that is absolutely insane.

  295. Hi. I’m a left of center moderate who doesn’t agree with Sarah Palin ideologically. I just wanted you guys to know I’m not going to hurt anyone over politics. These guys are clearly thugs…please don’t think we’re all out to get you.
