New York Times Reporter Triggered by Fourth of July Flyovers in the Nation’s Capital: ‘Feels like the apocalypse’

On Saturday, as America celebrated 250 years of Independence, a reporter for The New York Times whined on after being triggered by flyovers in the nation’s capital.

Lulu Garcia-Navarro, who hosts “The Interview” for The New York Times and is a former NPR host, took to social media to call the celebration “nerve-wracking.’

She wrote, “Why are we having so many jets scorching over DC? Nerve-wracking. I get 250 celebrations but it feels like the apocalypse.”

The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway got straight to the point replying, “We can hope it’s the apocalypse for the America-hating that your publication foments and spews.”

Another poster noted what the sound signifies, “It’s the sound of freedom.”

She followed up by crying ‘PTSD,’ not for actually being a warrior embedded in battle, but for being a reporter covering war zones.

“TRIGGER WARNING: Well, Happy Independence Day. I don’t like fireworks either! Why? I have PTSD from covering wars. Your body remembers the sounds of conflict even if you are past the effects. But also, lots of people don’t like jets and fireworks! My niece who is with me has auditory processing disorder. There are lots of ways to love America and celebrate Independence Day. Enjoy yours!”

Her self-aggrandizing comment fell flat with actual warriors with one veteran noting, “I’m a combat veteran with PTSD. I am also a patriot.”

“You, on the other hand, are a spoiled narcissist. #America250 isn’t about you.”

“Glad we had this talk.”

Another noted, “Yet there are millions who have actual PTSD who don’t announce it. You, on the other hand, do speaking engagements and get paid for it. Picking today to whine is rather ironic. Do you post every time a thunderstorm moves near you?”

“You don’t know what war is.”

Actor and patriot Gary Sinise captured what was clearly lost on Garcia-Navarro saying in part, “Today I am in Washington DC for the celebration tonight at the US Capitol televised on PBS and tomorrow on CBS for America 250. I have the privilege of narrating content for both events.”

“At the moment, I am sitting in my hotel room looking out the window watching our amazing fighter pilots rehearsing their flyover for tomorrow’s 4th of July celebration. I have been on bases all over the world and seen these jets many times before but experiencing them practicing in the skies over our nation’s capital in preparation for our 250th birthday is something quite unique, and special.”
