Hello darkness my old friend/I’ve come to talk with you again

We’ve seen this movie before: November comes, and Russian forces unleash massive drone and missile strikes targeting the power generation and infrastructure, leading to live in darkness and the cold.

Both Ukrenergo and Centrenergo (‘zero generation’) have reported catastrophic damage.

Ukraine is currently in the worst state energy-wise of the entire special operation.

But since major blackouts also happened a year ago, many ask themselves why Russians take the Ukrainian energy grid to the limit but do not completely obliterate it.

“Many people who want a total power grid collapse in Ukraine likely have not thought it entirely through. It would mean millions of elderly, sick, and otherwise helpless people suffering and going on the brink—a situation that would be seized upon with glee by the Western press machine and turned into a second Holodomor such that even ’s allies would balk at their continued support.”
