There are growing calls for North Carolina Democrat State Rep. Cecil Brockman to resign after he was arrested and charged with multiple child sex crimes.
According to court documents, Cecil Brockman was arrested and charged with statutory rape of a 13-15 year old.
Brockman reportedly used his status as a legislator to gain information about the victim’s location while they were at a hospital.
“The allegations against Rep. Brockman are serious and, if true, would disqualify him from public office,” the North Carolina State House Democrat Leader Robert Reives said.
Brockman is being held without bond and will appear in court on Thursday afternoon.

A North Carolina State House of Representatives member who represents Guilford County has been arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes.
According to court records, Cecil Antonio Brockman, 41, a Democrat who serves District 60 in Guilford County, was arrested on Wednesday for two counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of statutory rape of someone 13-15.
Brockman’s legislative assistant has been reached for comment.
Warrants allege that in August of this year, Brockman “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did commit and attempt to commit lewd and lascivious act” with a 15-year-old victim.
Brockman opposed the “Parents’ Bill of Rights” which mandated that schools tell parents about their child’s mental health.
