Republicans got some more good news out of California.
Republican John Duarte just flipped a House seat.
Duarte narrowly beat Adam Gray 50.2% to $49.8% – Adam Gray has conceded.
The district has not elected a Republican since 1974 – Democrats outnumber Republicans 42% to 24% in the district.
Republicans have flipped a U.S. House of Representatives seat representing a central California district, expanding their majority in the next Congress.
Farmer and businessman John Duarte, a Republican, declared victory on Dec. 2.
“I promised our Valley families that I would be their bipartisan champion in Washington, D.C. by fighting for food on our tables, gas in our tanks, and water on our farms. That is exactly what I am going to go there to do,” Duarte said in a statement.
California Assemblyman Adam Gray, a Democrat, conceded.
The GOP now has 221 seats in the House to the Democrats 213.
This race was California’s closest Congressional race and one of two Congressional races that had still be undecided in the country. With Duarte’s win, Republicans control 221 seats in the Lower House while Democrats hold 213.
Only one House race remains undetermined from the 2022 midterm elections – that is Lauren Boebert’s seat in Colorado.
