Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis Deflects From Sexualization of School Curriculums, Blames Parents for Not “Preparing” Their Kids for School

A Protect the Children Rally was held in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.

Featured speakers included Conservative Ant and Jordan Toste of Gays Against Groomers, Elon Gerberg of Florida Fathers for Freedom and Eulalia Jimenez from Moms for Liberty Miami.

The focus of the rally was to protest against a radicalized sexual curriculum, gender ideology, child grooming, parental alienation, and ‘gender-affirming care’ in schools.

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis got into a heated conversation with rally attendees.

One attendee told Trantalis, “That’s my decision as a parent…that’s your prerogative for your children…but I don’t drop off my kid to school to learn that. I drop them off to learn reading, writing and math.  And guess what, less than 40% of those kids can do that proficiently for their grade in your schools.

“In response, Trantalis said, “It’s not because the teaching…of sexual orientation. …It’s because parents aren’t preparing their kids for school….Don’t blame the LGTBQ community.”

A parent replies, “We’re here with the LGBTQ community! We’re here.  We are speaking out against the sexualization of children. “In further response the Mayor was asked, “Did you hear that parents? It’s not the Mayor or the School Board’s fault, it’s your fault that your kids aren’t getting educated, is that what you said?”

“Mayor Trantalis, are you really blaming parents for what’s going on in the schools?”

Trantalis, “I believe that the parents need to be the first people to teach their children about every subject.” “There you go! Exactly! Then stand with us.”

“Mayor Trantalis, you are against child grooming right? You’re against that. You are a gay man and you are against this stuff, right? So why aren’t you standing with us?”

Trantalis, “Because the word ‘groomer’ has connotations more than what you are attaching to it.”

“That’s what you guys say. People on the left said that. People on the right, we’re just talking about people that are trying, adults, that are trying to talk to children about sexual things inappropriately. It was people on the left that turned around and said, ‘oh, that means gay people and LGBT people’ and we said hell no, it doesn’t, and hence you have Gays Against Groomers who has hundreds of followers on Twitter…you should be standing with us.”

Trantalis, “Are you finished? Ok, parents should be the primary teachers of their children. There’s no doubt about that. When you start using inflammatory words like ‘groomers’  it means more than just what you are saying. …I’m talking and you need to keep quiet.”
