Expected New House Oversight Chair Says Mar-A-Lago Case Won’t Be Priority

GOP Rep. James Comer is set to take over the House Oversight and Reform Committee once the Republicans retake control of the House of Representatives.

Comer was asked during an interview with CNN if the raid of Mar-A-Lago would be a  priority – he said it wouldn’t.

Newsmax reported:

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., who is on track to become chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee next year, said the committee would not prioritize its efforts into the classified documents seized by the FBI at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

“That will not be a priority,” Comer told CNN in an interview, adding that the committee is “just waiting to see what comes out of that.”

The House Oversight and Reform Committee chaired by outgoing Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., has been investigating Trump’s mishandling of presidential records for several months. The probe is separate from the Department of Justice’s investigation, which had the nation’s attention in August after the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago.

After the midterm elections were over even the liberal media had to admit there was nothing to the story.

The Washington Post admitted that there was no evidence that there were any business interests in the documents held at Mar-A-Lago and instead were from Trump’s ” desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter.”

The Gateway Pundit reported:

The Washington Post is now reporting (after the midterms) that the DOJ believes Trump took his White House records to Mar-a-Lago as ‘mementos.’

WaPo is reporting that Trump never intended to sell or use the documents as leverage.

Of course we have known this the entire time and WaPo is finally admitting the FBI raid was all a political ploy.

“A review by agents and prosecutors found no discernible business interest in the Mar-a-Lago documents, people familiar with the matter said,” The Post explains. “Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter.”

“FBI interviews with witnesses so far,” The Post adds, citing their sources, “also do not point to any nefarious effort by Trump to leverage, sell, or use the government secrets. Instead, the former president seemed motivated by a more basic desire not to give up what he believed was his property, these people said.”

The latest hoax from the Democrats has fallen apart.
