Country Great Loretta Lynn Dead at 90 – A “Coal Miner’s Daughter” – VIDEO

Country great Loretta Lynn died today at the age of 90.  Her career spanned decades and included touring for almost 57 years until a stroke sidelined her in 2017.

The Country music Queen’s musical history and catalogue are impressive.  She released 50 albums,  garnered 21 number one songs, 11 number one albums and was nominated for 17 Grammys, winning 3.

One of her most famous songs, Coal Miner’s Daughter, is a  powerful autobiographical tune.  Lynn penned a novel by the same name that was ultimately made into a blockbuster movie.  The movie follows Lynn’s life from poverty to superstar.  The movie’s lead actress, Sissy Spacek, won an Oscar for her role as Lynn.

Lynn married husband Oliver “Doo” Lynn when she was 15 years old and the two were married for almost 50 years before he passed away in 1996 . The couple has six children together.

Loretta’s rep told TMZ  “The famed singer passed away at her Tennessee ranch Tuesday morning … the rep says Loretta died from natural causes. She was surrounded by family when she died.”

In a statement provided to The Associated Press:

Lynn’s family said she died Tuesday at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” the family said in a statement. They asked for privacy as they grieve and said a memorial will be announced later.
