On Monday, FBI agent Timothy Thibault was reportedly escorted out of the FBI building.
The report states that Thibault “abruptly resigned” and was forced to leave his post.
Former FBI Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Tim Thibault was reportedly escorted out of the bureau on Friday, amid whistleblower allegations that he showed political bias in his handling of politically sensitive investigations.
The Washington Times reported eyewitness accounts that “Mr. Thibault was seen exiting the bureau’s elevator last Friday escorted by two or three ‘headquarters-looking types.'” The article appears to have been updated and now states that Thibault “abruptly resigned” but that he was “forced to leave his post” and cites two unnamed former FBI officials.
Just the News was unable to independently confirm the Times’ report.
Trump responded on Truth Social by thanking the FBI “for taking this important step toward sanity” — and asked if this would end the fake witch hunt into him.
Wow, I assume this ends the Fake Witch Hunt? The “Special Agent” In Charge has been removed from his post based on his concealing the partisan nature of evidence presented to secure the FBI’s corrupt investigation into the 45th President of the United States, me, which culminated in their unprecedented and unnecessary Raid and Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago. Thank you to the FBI for taking this important step toward sanity!
During a hearing in early August members of the Senate Judiciary Committee pressed FBI Director Christopher Wray over FBI assistant special agent Timothy Thibault.
One of the reasons Thibault came under fire was for partisan social media posts.
The second reason was allegations that he had downplayed and discredited negative information about Hunter Biden during the 2020 election.
Speaking at a Senate Judiciary Committee oversight hearing, Wray appeared to condemn the alleged actions of Timothy Thibault, who he said was an FBI assistant special agent in charge at the Washington field office until “relatively recently.”
…
Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) first raised alarms about Thibault’s alleged partisan actions in May, demanding that the Justice Department and the FBI investigate whether the agent violated department guidelines with his social media posts. Grassley sent a second letter to the Justice Department and the FBI in late July saying that he had received “highly credible” whistleblower accounts alleging that Thibault had downplayed or discredited negative information obtained about Joe Biden’s son during the 2020 election.
Wray on Thursday didn’t definitively confirm or deny the allegations against Thibault and seemed to be trying to preserve his ability to act as an impartial decision-maker on potential discipline against the agent. However, the FBI director stressed that the actions Kennedy was describing were “not representative of the FBI.”
Is it too late?
